Hey I was just watching some movies with my younger sister of the new straight to video Scooby Doo movie: Scooby and the Witches Ghost and Alivin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankstien and I just thought how come the old ninja turtles can't have a few straight to video movies. I'm noticeing alot of old cartoons are getting this revival treatment of having having them selves relaunched in straight to movie format where everything is the same as it was when it aired but modernized with the characters having new adventures and crisper animation. Scooby Doo has at least three or four straight to video movies as well as the Chimpmunks, and from I've seen they are pretty good in terms of maintaining the orginal feel of the cartoons tone and characters as well as adding a fresh spin on them. And I was wondering why can't the old ninja turtles get this treatment. The turtles where just as epic and popular as Scooby Doo and the chipmunks where when they where on, I think it would be great if they did this. I would love to see a few straight to video movies of the ninja turtles battle ol tin grin again, I think they could come up with a few quality plots in this format.

I wonder what Vernon would look like in an animation make over, would he become all buff and good looking like Dave did in the Chimpmunk movies. Because if any one remembers Dave was a bit on the homely and scrawny side in the orginal toons before it came back in the new movies, as younger hipper version of himself.

Dunno 'bout any Chipmunks, but that Scooby movie is over half a decade old. Cartoon Network aired it almost simultaneously with its original DVD release.

The Chipmunks one is a bit old too.

As for the Scooby-Doo movie, will add: there have been almost 10 other DTV Animated Movies since that one.

Sage, you just scared the **** out of me. I thought you were reporting that there wasn't gonna be a direct to DVD movie for the 25th anniversary. It was gonna be in the TMNT 07 universe, but yeah I would love one for the OT or NT.

EDIT: I shouldn't be online this early, It was cancelled. Murph said we might get something else tho.

The one thing I have been wanting to see for a long time was a DTV OT film for fans of the original series. An American OVA anniversary/ Fan appreciation thing, sort of like the Time Bokan (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/time-bokan-dvd) DVd was meant for fans of the series. (Kinda crazy we got it here, since we never got the show)

But anyway, something with a new plot, and numerous nods to the fans... all the original voices available would take part in it, and it would serve as an alternate ending to the original series (Had it ended before Red Sky, of course- hense "alternate") Including Bebop and Rocksteady, fed up with Shredhead's abuse, leaving in a huff at a crucial moment.

Though I AM surprised 4Kids didn't make a DTV 2K3 movie at all. Not even rediting certain episodes to fit more into a movie time frame (What they did with the last 3 episodes of Kirby).

Maybe they could do a DVD cartoon based on the original series that acts as kind of a "reunion" story. Like revisiting the OT turtles, Splinter, and April years later. I wonder if a cartoon like that would generate a lot of interest from all the nostalgic people out there.

I still wish we'd get a DTV movie that has the OT TMNT encountering the 2k3 TMNT....it'd be great.

Leo: Ok, Mikey, you, Raph, and the other Donny track down this Technodrome. The rest of us will stop the Shredders.

Leonardo: The other who?

Leo: Donny...you know....Donatello.

Leonardo: Oh, Donatello, why didn't you say so.

Leo: Ok, Mikey, you and Raphael and Donatello find the Technodrome....

Raphael: Me?

Raph: Or me?

Leo: Oh boy....

I'd like to see OT April and 2003 April cross paths.

2003 April: Jeez, even in the 80's you probably looked like a weirdo in that jumpsuit.

OT April: Well it's better than having my belly sticking out.

2003 April: What do you mean, sticking out?

I dunno if I'd like to see a reunion special so much as an alternate ending type movie. I'd love to see a reunion special of all the available voice actors, sure...

Personally, what I'd KILL to see is some sort of cross over between the 2k3 turtles and the OT turtles, each voiced by their respective voice actors.

I would hate a cross over of the old turtles and the new turtles. not only would that be corny but it would be really dumb as well. Lets keep them in their own universes please with no cross overs.

Although I would love a DTV movie of the OT turtles, but slightly more serious. But only if they can make it for a slightly older audiance, have Mike with his nunchucks, and the turtles can actually fight a little. That would kick so many kinds of ass!

If they ever have a direct to video movie on the 80's turtles I would want it to give some actual back ground on Shredder and Splinter before they left Japan and show what exactly went down with Shredder trying to set Yoshi up and take his title and what happened after Yoshi was banished, and then fellin the blanks of when Shredder met Krang and when they teamed up. And finnally give a little closure to the whole Shredder and Splinter thing.

This is an old thread and all, but as I said in another thread, we need 3 DTV movies.

One based on the original series featuring the same voice actors (as their availability will allow), one based on 2k3 (with a plotline not used in 2k3), and a DTV that's for the fans of the comic. Something similar to Gotham Knight...

If they did an OT DTV, they should just make it a mindless adaption of one of the video games full of action and one-liners.

I agree, I would also like to see a story like that, and not the same "Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady want energy for the Technodrome and break into a power plant and the TMNT have to stop them" stuff over and over and over again.

A lot of DTVs can be very successfull, it'd be great to revisit the OT, however who owns the rights to it though? And doesn't Peter put a stop to retro OT merchandise?

As I keep saying, I want a revisionist version of the TMNT beating Shredder and Krang for the last time. No Lord Dregg. Something that serves as a free floating series finale/ reunion for fans.

They own the rights to the old characters and the old series, I believe. Lions Gate owns the distribution rights to the DVD's. I don't think MWS owns anything anymore... Toxic Crusaders went back to Troma for example.

it isn't a The Tick situation, where Saban (and now Disney) owned the series and any character exclusive to the series.

I would like to see Krang and Shredder finnally come to betray each other and split up and work solo from each other, and have Bebop and Rocksteady conspire against Shredder and Krang.

I would also like to see some background on Krang and his time as over lord of deminsion X when he still had his body and then how he lost it and got banished.

three question though for you people, if we ever got this classic turtles DTV thing what would:

1) you want the turtles character designs to look like? Do want them to sport their Red Sky looks or their pre-red sky looks, but much cleaner and crisper like how they looked in season seven? Or a blending of both?

2) How would you like to see the turtles act? There same wacky one liner selves or do want some progression and deminsion added to their characters? And go more into their character than what was allowed back when the show was on?

3) What would you want done with April looks and character wise? Do you want her be wearing the same red sky outfit or the classic yellow bannana jumpsuit? Or do want her to sport a diffrent outfit and hair style all together. And would you want her to be still working for channel six or even being a reporter at all? Would you want her to know how to fight now?

Not a bad idea. As for your questions:

1) Season 1 looks. I think that's the best art of the series.

2) Same basic personalities, but don't insult someone's intelligence with the jokes. The kids who used to watch this are in their 20s and 30s now and a lot of us take ourselves very seriously.

3) I'd like to see April wearing something more like her Red Sky look and I'd like to see her running an antique shop and having given up the news business years ago.

now that I don't want to see. Keep the universes seprete and leave the OT universe the OT universe. The OT is unique because it deviates from the comics and does it's own thing. I want the characters to act like their themselves and not adopt the ways of the 2k3 series. Which means I don't want Raphael to suddenly become all angry and brooding and difficult, let him be his own Raphael, and certainly do not make Michaelangelo suddenly act like his modern boy version. Let him him stay the way he is and don't suddenly make him, annoying, cocky, and immaturely full of him self that has to be comstantly doing something. I don't want him to still be a pizza addict still but let him be his own Michaelangelo instead of adopting the ways of their 2k3 counter-parts.

I do want to see them evolved a bit to appeal to a fans that have grwon into adults so their aren't carature any more. That includes April, I would like to see her less of a carture of a career woman and show she has a social life, maybe even a boyfriend, I'm undicided on whether or not I want her to be reporter or not. Personaly I would her to be come a cop.

Would any one like to see the channel six people again like Irma, Vernon, and Burns?

I never meant it as "Raphael should be brooding now." April can still be the same old adventurous April... I just want to see her in a different occupation.

I'd tend to think if a 1980's reunion/conclusion DTV were made, fans would love to see everyone possible, even as cameos. I'd love to see the 6 team... so long as they only get 5 minutes of screen time in a 80 minute film.

Yeah but, how would Shredder survive on his own as a villan with out Krang? Krang I can see acting on his own but Shredder seems like he would need a partner to do things.

I would also like to see some background on Krang and his time as over lord of deminsion X when he still had his body and then how he lost it and got banished.

I would love to see more of the neutrinos and more of their civilisation under Krang. Maybe Krang was as bad as Che'rell in war crimes and cruelty as over lord and thats why his body was taken from him and he was banished.

I don't know what RedSky is so I'm going to say how they looked in season one but not as awkward looking, I'd also like to see some distingishing features on each of the turtles so they don't look like carbon copies of them selves.

2) How would you like to see the turtles act? There same wacky one liner selves or do want some progression and deminsion added to their characters? And go more into their character than what was allowed back when the show was on?

I would want the turtles to act like them selves and not try to copy the 4KIDS turtles personalites. But I would like to see more than just their tagged on sterotype and for them to be more multi-faceted.

I like to see her with longer hair and colored eyes and to wear a wider varity of clothes and colors instead of the yellow jump suit.

I would want it to be made for the fans who grew up watching the 80's series, only interpreted as they REMEMBER it, and not exactly as it was, without entirely betraying it. Still overall lighthearted and using one-liners, but nothing extremely goofy (at least not goofy and new, gotta keep Dimension X, Bebop and Rocksteady and everything). The characters should be given facelifts similar to what the 2002 He-Man series had, everyone should be entirely recognizable but just look more badass. April should still be wearing yellow but maybe not the exact same jumpsuit, but her breasts need to stay enormous since that was great.

Since Bebeop and Rocksteady are such fan faves to most people who don't goto these forums have them do a face turn at the end (as someone suggested, being fed up with the Shredder and maybe even realizing he set them up for a life of crime by preying on their status as low-income outcasts and getting them to do the whole turn into mutants thing) and help the Turtles defeat Shredder and Krang once and for all. Cameos by Mondo Gecko, Casey Jones, mousers and Slash.

Have Splinter die in a tearjerker scene after having taught them all they need, keep their personalities the same but more tolerable for a teen-30's audience, and end with the phrase "here's gazai in your eye".

I want to see Irma again. It's so fun when she complains over being a girl with no boys looking for her. That's a part of the 1987 cartoon's comedy.
