Man - you'd better keep away from my Fast Forward stuff then!!
Have some faith mate! It's more in line with the original Tales run though, as it's a sequel of sorts to Tales #6. You gotta flex those writing muscles every now and then, have a bit of fun!
It's also the first appearance of two new villains (one will definitely become a fairly integral part of the NYC criminal network down the road, the other I'm going to sit on for a little while:P)!
On that note, I'm scripting a sequel of sorts to issue 36 for early next year (if all goes to plan). You want Turtle grit, then this'll be like a mouthful of asphalt. It's very Casey-centric too, which is sick because I've been wanting to use Casey for a LOOONG time! Hints have been dropped here and there. I've put a teaser up on my blog.
I've also got a 4-pager appearing in the back of July's Tales. So technically, my return is there! ;)

Do you think it's easier to write Tales than it would be TMNT? I ask because at least with Tales, you can have the story take place whenever you want. Continuity be damned!

I can't really speak for Pete when it comes to writing Vol. 4, but honestly, I think an ongoing or multipart story is easier to write. Tales is great in it's format, but sometimes trying to condense the ideas into a singular 30 pager can be tough.
I'm a big fan of Spidey, The Avengers and Batman, and I think their formats are great. You get big multi-parters, you get small multi-parters, long-reaching arcs, one-shots, you get the whole shibang. I think a Turtles book in that format would be cool to see alongside Tales and Vol. 4. Maybe something like a Mirage Vol. 3.

we've already had vol. 3 it would be more like vol. 5 if tristian took over and peter ended vol. 4 :)
Or well I guess you're sort of right since Peter doesn't count the image series even though they do call it vol. 3.
But that's sort of what tales does it fills in the gaps between everything.

VM - that's why I said Mirage Volume 3 ;)
By the way, you gotta send me your deets mate! For the Baxter pic...
Hahah! I was just joshing ya Jerome, I knew what you meant.
I just think a monthly book that worked in a similar fashion to Tales but with room for bigger stories would be a lot of fun to read. I think, knowing how Peter David works, the Dreamwave books would've ended up going in that direction, which would've been fun to see.
See I think the best thing about Tales is that it CAN take place anywhere in continuity (as it has been). I think initially the idea was to fill the gaps between 2 and 4, but as we know, things change and I don't think we can really complain about the deviation...
