What made you a TMNT fan?

At first I went to GameCrazy(back in 2003) and bought my first ever TMNT game. It was the 2003 game from Konami. I started to play my game in my evil :evil:sister's room and kept playing it for the next couple hours. Then I started buying TMNT Toys and TMNT Games. That's how I started liking TMNT.

I started to like the turtles with the old toon show. Since then I've been a big fan.

When I was 6 my parents saved a turtle that was in the middle of the road. They braught it home (we were always saving animals back then) and when I came home from school I was surprised with said turtle. We kept it for a couple days and I looked up some info on turtles at the library (I was such a book worm back then) and took the turtle for show and tell at school and then we set him free. I've loved turtles ever since then.

A year later the TMNT series premiered and I was of course excited about a tv series about super hero turtles. I was already into superheroes (aye I was a tomboy) from watching Superfriends and Spidey and his Amazing friends as well as He-Man (I had He-Man and She Ra action figures when I was 4 or 5)...so a tv series about crime fighting turtles was right up my ally. Been a fan from the start. :D Course back then I was more into Don than Raph *L*

You know I can't really remember if it was the old cartoon or the toys that got me hooked.
I believe it was the toys because I was really into action figures around the time turtles first hit the shelves and didn't know what it was yet.
I was into things like G.I. Joe, Trashbag Bunch, M.U.S.C.L.E., & Silver Hawks.
So I was totally into the turtles from the first time I saw them without even knowing what they where from yet, and about a week later I think the show started on sundays here on fox I would pretend to be sick just so I wouldn't miss it because of church lol.
I then found the archie comics series around issue 4 or 5 at a local 7-11 so I became even more adicted to the boys in green.
I'd say around the middle of the Archie series my aunts boyfriend showed me the Mirage series and I started getting that.
So that's how it all started with my fandom and I probably won't stop untill I pass on.:D

Watching the OT- first began in the 6th or 7th grade. Somewhere in the 8th grade I realized I could not live without it.

It was cool to see TMNT as a band. As Splinter told them, you can accomplish more with an (musical) instrument than a weapon in hand.

First time I saw them was on a Larry King special back in November 1990 on NBC.

No doubt it was the OT's theme song. I just went insane when that came on, jump-kicking around the living room, knocking furniture over and scattering cats and dogs with my "ninja action". Then I'd settle in about 2 1/2 inches away from the TV screen and sit quietly at full attention for the entire show.

Then came the birthday when I got my first TMNT figures. It must have been '89 already 'cuz one of them was the first Undercover Don. If memory serves me, I also got Splinter and a mutant display stand Mike.

When I was 8 I heard about the cartoon starting here in Holland in 1988. I missed the first episode back then, and even a year later with some re-runs I still missed the first ep. I was able to see it for the first time when the 2nd movie came out (didnt have internet or season VHS tapes, ya know)

The OT got me hooked, I was completely in my element, watching TMNT while eating pizza and having milk from my TMNT mug. Then the figures came, and I asked my mom, could I please have one! I took Don (the rest was sold out) but a year later I had vehicles, all the main characters. Bought the Archie comics (released by JuniorPress here in Holland). It wasn't until the year 2000 that I found out about/and were able to get Mirage comics and Image comics. I thought that was the coolest thing ever to find U.S comics in Holland. So I've always been hooked cause of the OT

It was kind of unavoidable back in the day, ya know? What made me the fan I am today was being really bored one day and popping in TMNT III: The Manhattan Project. I got smacked in the face with nostalgia and then decided to buy anything TMNT related, shortly after the 2k3 toon premeried and that finalized it :)

I don't know, I was too young to catch the beginning of the Turtle craze (I was born in 1990), but by the time I was 3, 4, or 5, whenever it was, I was into all the Saturday morning shows, mostly Turtles and the original Power Rangers. I was lucky to still have new Turtles episodes and re-runs, and I had a bunch of VHS tapes of episodes, action figures, video games, etc. Of course, for some reason around 10 or 11 I decided to let my mom get rid of my old action figures because I was "too old" for them, then around 13 or 14 I got back into the Turtles and regretted not having my old toys any more.

Back in the late '80s, when my local FOX station replaced The Real Ghostbusters with TMNT in their weekday afternoon block, I was initially skeptical for about 2 seconds, then I got sucked in by the intro. The episode where Baxter was turned into a fly was the first episode I saw. It was such a cool show that I was immediately hooked. It also explained what that green action figure I had with the orange mask and the strange weapons was.

when i was 4 years old i went to my cousins house, abi and chi cha with my little brother jj. i was playing that gun game that you have to shoot those ducks and that dog or something and then my little cousin abi (3 years old at the time) turned off the game and popped in a tmnt video (the OT) and told me to sit down on the bed and watch it. im like "no. put the game back on." and he all of a sudden comes over and pushes me on the bed. i got up and ran out of the room. i went into the living room and saw abi whispering in chi cha's ear, while i was playing with some animal toys.

then all of a sudden they come over and push me over and drag me to the room (chicha was 2 at the time but he is big and muscular for his age and has always been like that. at the time you would think he's my age). Chicha comes in with a chair and told me to sit down on it. im said no so they came over and beat me up for like 15 seconds and they stop and chicha picks me up and puts me on the dinner table chair. abi ties like 4 blankets to the chair and popped in the OT tmnt video. chi cha was holding the blanket while abi was standing at the door making sure i didn't escape. so i just rolled along, and halfway through it i liked it andd told them that and they let me go only to watch it. it was the episode "sky turtles" because i remeber the turtle blimp and everything floating.

I was three or four years old. My mom bought the figure I had for me because I wanted a new toy and she thought that TMNT was an interesting concept that I might end up getting into.

One of my little friends had some turtle figures before I had even heard of tmnt. When I saw these cool green ninjas with weapons I had to have them too. I would get a new figure every week or two for my "allowance." Then of course started watching the OT and the rest is history

I also started out with the old toon. I really loved the old toon and I still find it a good show. I still enjoy watching it even now and I find my self poping in my OT dvds even more often than the NT dvds. :o

I watched the old toons cause of my brothers. I liked it very much but what hooked me for life was the first movie. They looked so real and I liked the family interractions between them. (My favorite was when Leo got them together to contact Splinter. It always makes me cry. :cry:) In the Old Toon they seemed more like best friends than brothers.

I was hardcore into Dinosaucers as a kid. It was one day, without warning...replaced by this...what the hell is this? Give me my DINOSAUCERS! I refused to watch those turtle things that took away my Dinosaucers. I was so upset that my uncle suggested I watch through, and see if they simply moved my show to after this one...so I did. I fell in love for the first time. Dinosaucers who? I became so umm...enthusiastic over the TMNT, that I was given my own tv in my room where I could be a ninja there, and not break things in the rest of the house. :lol:

When I was little we were at Costco. I remember finding an action figure that came with a movie. I had to be around 5-6. I begged my parents for it. I loved turtles and wanted a pet one but an action figure would do.

The movie was the first couple eps of the old toon. Been a fan since. Oh and the figure was Raph.

the USA cartoon express is what got me hooked on the old toon in the 90's, I really wasn't into the turtles before I saw it on that station because when it came on fox in the 80's i was just a little kid and more interested in the little kids toons and such to notice the turtles. I became interested in alot of old cartoons from the cartoon express that would never even heard of if it hadn't been aired on a station just for vintage cartoon like Jem, The Ghostbusters, the Smurfs, Mighty Max, and of course the old Ninja turtles. It's what got me into looking into the ninja turtles on CBS because by that tiume the networks had made the switch over. So if not for USA Cartoon express I probably wouldn't even be here and would have looked at ninja turtles as just a old boys cartoon from the 80's and 90's.

I was born in 1988. I can't remember a time where I didn't love turtles. My Dad explained to me when I was a baby he used to sit me down in front of the TV sometimes and the first time he did that turtles was on. From then on out it happened to be on the same time he'd put me in front of the TV ever day. I almost feel like it's wired into me.

My earliest memory is sitting in my crib eating Ninja Turtle crackers. Oh those were the days. The turtles potty trained me too. When I got old enough my parents bought me a bunch of Ninja Turtle undies and told me I could wear them if I'd use the toilet. The funny thing is it worked.

I think it had to be fate since I was born in May 1984, but it was the OT that had me hooked when it came out. From there it went into Comic books (I had only Archie's for years until I was old enough to figure out there were other TMNT comics out there).

I think it was the toys that first pulled me in when I was a kid. I remember getting an Ace Duck and then begging my mom for a Shredder.

Then the cartoon came out and I loved that. I watched it every day after school until it ended. I never really quit liking the Turtles, just moved on to other things after it ended. Then the 2k3 series got me watching again.

Lately it was the NECA figures that really pulled me back in. I got those and checked out the official website and was blown away by getting to actually read some of the original comics. I couldn't believe how different the Mirage comics were from everything else I had ever known. I'm now trying to get some of the Mirage books and also getting some toys now too.

I was born in '78. I was a star wars kid first and foremost, but when the turtles hit the scene they were pretty much the new thing. I gave it a try, had the toys, and it stuck.

Honestly, at the time it could have just been another phase, but it has seemed to pass the test of time.

Got hooked on the old toon. My dad did martial arts when I was little, and I can remember growing up watching him do chucks, and watching Bruce Lee movies and whatnot. It was just natural that my bros & I would watch a cartoon with ninja anything. Our luck it was as cool as show as TMNT!

I remember replying to a topic like this. And I'll say now what I said then. What drew me to the turtles was the very notion of their existence. I mean, turtles, known for moving slow and being docile, as ninjas. The idea was so out there it was great. And when I saw the first episode, I was hooked as soon as the theme song started.

What made me a fan? Well, I guess the attraction of the characters and secondly the attraction of the personalities and concept both combining into something special.

What hooked me into TMNT is just seeing how the lads would band together wherever they were and work thier way out of something and kicked some tail along the way. I realted to each turtle in thier own individual way.

The colourful and wacky merchandise was also a bonus that got me hooked. :D

It was the toys, though I don't remember how I got into the toys if it was a tv ad, I saw them on the stores or friends. I rarely watched the show as a kid since for some reason it didn't air in my country a lot or maybe at bad times though I did have 2 of the Burger King VHS's.

When I played with my turtles it was more anime like since its what I mostly watched on tv as a kid :lol: I also always liked the more "mature" look the figures had than the tv show. Counting I was born in 86 the turtles had already been around for a while when I started liking them though I was still able to get all the first wave, not sure how many years they printed that wave for.
