how lucky are we?

now there are a lot of good cartoons that last only to 100 episodes or less, and thats only for good cartoons. the 2k3 tmnt show is still on but 142 episodes aired and 13 more are still to come for our knowlage. so that means tmnt has had 156 episodes so far, which is waaaaaaaaaaay over expected. as lucky as we are, i dont see anybody posting about this. does anybody else agree with me?

Do you consider Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures 2 diffrent series? Then again there was how much time between those shows. TMNT has not had huge gaps between 2k3 and B2TS.

Well the number of episodes really depends if you want to consider Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer as separate shows or not.
Even if you want to play like that, that would mean that the 2K3 format (116 eps) already exceeded the classic's formats of 93 'syndicated's (including the lost but not technically syndicated Euro-Cruise eps), 75 'CBS-comedy's and 24 'CBS-red sky's. :)

Even then, 4 seasons is an accomplishment. Especially now with rediculous production caps and the like. The Batman was canned after 5 seasons. Did it even have 52 episodes? (still confused that it had 5 seasons in 4 years).

Few shows live on to 100 episodes, and even if they do, it takes an awful long time to reach it. Arthur, for example, took nearly 8 years to get that far (as there were enough reruns from the first 2 seasons to make subsequent seasons shorter. Sometimes even just a weeks' worth of episodes).

So, yes, G.... we ARE lucky. Damn lucky!

I think The Batman aired both Season 2 and 3 in the same year, so that's how it managed to get 5 seasons in 4 years.

I think we're very lucky. When the show started I thought we'd get a few good years and then it would end - 4 seasons, 5 if we were very lucky. Now we're about to start season 7! I actually think this show has a chance of beating the originals run and I never dreamed that could happen when it started.

Or Season 8, if you count FF as 2 seasons. Considering that they split them up when they aired them (but not really in the right way) that can count as an air season, right?

But yeah. Even Garfield and Friends had only 121 episodes in 7 years.

you know any one can say what they want about the ninja turtles being obsecure and not as engaging as other shows, but ninja turtles on tv has always had longevity on television. There has got be something attractive s about the turtles mythos and endeearing charactersations for it to be last as long as it does.

Agreed on everything. I think the cartoon gods are smiling upon TMNT for it to last this long. Considering it came out in 2003, and it's 2008 now, that's probably five years of entertainment. And not to mention about 6 or 7 seasons of work (I really have no idea if I should count FF as one or two seasons any more).

Our luck will definitely run out one day. In the mean time, I'm just counting our blessings and enjoying the ride while it lasts. Who knows? It might even see 10 years of the show if our luck keeps up.

And most cartoons have that rediculous 52 episode production cap on them. I still think The Batman could have, and should have, had one more season after the Dark Knight was released. But that's neither here or there.

TMNT is basically the only thing that 4Kids can make money off of now, having systematcially alienated all the Japanese production studios. So there's no doubt there's a reason why it's still up and running. 7,8 seasons(whatever you believe FF was) is almost unheard of now. You're lucky to get past 2 seasons. Especially if you're on broadcast, which let's face it, broadcast kid's programming is in an iron lung waiting for its greedy relatives to pull the plug and take its stuff.

The 1987 TMNT cartoon had 194 episodes within 9 years (1987-1996). Probably the 2003 TMNT cartoon can beat that (If all seasons are counted as the same show) already after 5-6 years (by 2008-2009) if the show countinued.

IIRC, didn't Laird say in that interview that mentioned the hybrid TMNT sequel, as long as BttS doesn't bomb horribly, we'll get more 2K3 for years to come?

The show needs to get to season 10 in order to tie with (or depending on how you count it, pass) the original series. Best of luck to it. :D

Man I'm glad the trutles never got a show on Kids WB we would have been lucky to get two seasons of 13 episdoes out of them. I mean come on Batman Beyond was a high rated show but it ended after only 52 episodes. Justice League Unlimited got good ratings but god forbid it go to far beyond 52. We are lucky, except for when trying to get movies made apparently:P.

Well, most people count every Scooby Doo as a single series run. I don't know if it's the case... the only major production company shift was with Warner Brothers... since they pretty much own Hanna Barbera now.

But if you can count Scooby as one series, could you technically count TMNT as one? That'd be over 200 episodes of a single property.

You forgot the new scoobydoo series that was aired 2007-till january 2008 on Cartton network. It had only 20 episodes. The title of the new series is Scooby doo get a clue and it is different than the older one because in the new series the main heroes are scooby and shaggy. In this new series they fight against a mad scientist Dr Phibes and another mad scientist dr treblas. In Scooby doo get a clue Scooby and shagy have super guns and they dont chase monsters like they did in the old show. Personaly i think that the 2008 scooby doo series was the best one ever made because it focued more on action than the older ones. You can downloadthe new series of scooby doo from torrents or see the episodes on youtube. Too bad it had only 20 episodes...:cry: I have also see all the older scooby doo shows but as i said already the 2007-2008 scooby doo cartton was the best. Does anyone know when the next one begins?
