For those interested, I've got news and an upcoming look at TMNT Tales that will never see print at my little blog:

http://rossmay.livejournal.com/

I hope to have the next post (with artwork by Scott Cohn!) up tomorrow. Day after tomorrow at the latest.

Holy beans, man, that was awesome. It expands on a few issues from previous stories, and KENO! :D

Dude wow seriously that was soooo good, I love the twist in the story it adds so much to the turtles world if you ask me.
Dumb move on Mirages part not to go with it.:ohwell:
But let's have 50 more alien tales drawn by lawson that no one really gives 2 flips about.

Wow, that was awesome..

You should submit the script again in 2010.. I wanna see this story.. :|

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel better.

I don't really know what is (and has for the past two years been) going on at Mirage. I can't resubmit this story (and the next one coming up) at all because Mirage purchased them already. Pete approved the plots and the scripts have been completed for almost two years now. "Many Deceptions" was originally slated to be Tales #34 if you can believe it, but it was pushed back and back and is now apparently dead.

If you look at Jake Black's blog you'll notice that he's pretty much done with Tales too, and it's not something he personally chose. I was talking to my good e-pal Tristan Jones about he and Paul Harmon being Mirage's "golden freelance boys," as well they deserve and should be. But apart from them Mirage seems to be shutting out other freelancers. No more Jake Black, Quinn Johnson, Will Tupper or myself.

Which is completely Mirage's choice to make. Of course I love the turtles and would like to do more, but do not feel sore about the fact that I at least briefly got to give them some new adventures.

What I would suggest to fans (and something that I'll go into on my blog) is to email Dan Berger, Mirage in general, and direct emails towards Peter Laird about what you would like to see from the turtles in the future. Don't criticise (well you're free to do so, but I would suggest that you don't), but tell them what you would like. Tales' future is not certain, so if you really enjoy it I suggest you let them know. Ditto for content: What types of stories do you want to see? What creative teams do you want doing them? Telling the folks at Mirage is the only way of letting them know what you guys want.

(How about Tristan, Will and I writing TMNT Adventures? Hehe, I have always wanted to do the backstory for Krang and Shredder and how they met...)

Cough. Nevermind. The next post on my blog will be less exciting because there will be no artwork to accompany it, but get ready for the conclusion to the story in "Night Rain."

I've always wanted to read/see how that happened... that is, that didn't involve some fangirl with poor grammar skills having them fall in love at first sight. Guh >.<

I get dibs on Bebop and Rocksteady. Those two are up there with Devil Dinosaur and Blazing Skull as characters I would kill to write.

I contact Dan and Murph allot and have told them both what a bang up job the fresh new talent mirage has been using is doing.
I've even tried to submit things myself but they don't even want them. oh well, looks like more of Lawsons new cubist style art for another 2 years.:ohwell:
You know Lawson and others may think I don't like him as much as i bag on his current art but that's not the case at all, I just botherd when theres so many fresh minds out there with amazing talent that has been unused and it feels like the series keeps getting a down grade every few months. I love Jim's past work and own all of it so please before anyone repsonds don't think I'm some Lawson hater, just don't like how simple and boxy his art has become.

Trist: Yeah, I know you love Bebop and Rocksteady. I like them too.

VaughnMichael: Well it's not just you (not getting in).

Even as a kid I was curious how Krang and Shredder met. Krang's backstory is so awesome what with being an extra-dimensional warlord who was STRIPPED OF HIS BODY and sent to Earth. But how did he and Saki meet? What did Saki do in the intervening years when he framed Yoshi and re-emerged as the Shredder?

I know that, Dan has told me no one but orig. people who have always been with Mirage will be working on the comics.
I've put in good words for your self and Trist a few times now.

Yeah, but then there's at least one episode where you see Krang's people, and they're all just big brains with robotic legs :P

I can't remember which episode, but it might be the musketeers one...

And that can be explained in three ways I can think of

1. Continuity error (boring)
2. Krang is a manipulate son of a bitch who's never had a body
3. That scene with a flashback of his people is how the Shredder imagines it, and he has no idea how the species look like

Though I don't remember the circumstances for this at all, so I have no idea if the Shredder even was there when Krang spoke of it, but I think he was..

Yes there is that one instance you mention but there there is this episode:

In which Krang clones himself and they grow to what he used to look like.

No, I meant.. There's one episode that has something to do with some crystal.. And you see some "Krangs" do something with the crystal or something.. Haven't seen the old show for about ten years, so, like I said, I don't remember the circumstances for the scene very well.

At least this means we have seen "Krangs" several times :P

wow, awesome issue, which it could have been published. i like how the yoshi story got brought back. i've been wondering what the heck is going to happen with it. also phenominal artwork. I echo what VM said. While I'm not a Lawson hater and appreciate what he's done for the franchise, it's time to start letting new talent seep in (and I've liked most of what Mirage has allowed so far) so when the veteran guys eventually hang up their hats, there are new people already lined up and know their material, not just some fresh newbie who hasn't done it with Mirage yet.

Huge update on my blog again. Sorry that it's so big, but I didn't
want to summarize the entire story and have it lose so much of its content.

THAT was freaking amazing. It explains more about "The Mistress" and her quest, and even goes into The Shredder's past.

Ross, you know, before you told me about the trilogy, my plan for #36 was to make heavy reference to the events of Change of Power. The subplot had Lin and the now melted Elite were trying to retrieve The Shredder's gauntlet from her. I did keep the Goseico reference as a nod to what had happened though ;)

The last of my little notes on my Ninja Turtles stories and behind the scenes is up on my blog. Thanks everyone for compliments here and throughout my short run!

More stuff (though less Ninja Turtles content) will continue on my blog. In addition to the "Super Villain" project Juan Saavedra and I are doing, I've recently teamed up with artist Dan Schoening for a short piece. Folks who read cereal:geek will recognise his awesome work (and he's done the cover for the someday-to-be-released issue 4).
