Lets chat about it :)
Eastman and Laird are in this one too, hehe. The cops!
And April acted like she did in the TMNT movie...when she woke up. funny :)

The backflash:
all wore red masks.
no hamato yoshi or saki. maybe thatll me revealed when the shredder is revealed. "That is a story for another time" - Splinter
An old coffee can - same as the movie.
"Pizza" and "Cowabunga" - hehe, too funny!
"Turtles Forever, or whatever se say together" - like "Turtle Power"? hahahha.

i have a feeling that eastman and laird are sorta permo characters. what'd you think?
SlayerX
02-22-2003, 08:38 AM
mike actually said cowabunga
they all had the "red" bands before they got blue, purple, red, and orange
oooo its on ^_^

02-22-2003, 08:39 AM

I hope April don't wear this same outfit in every episode lol. like Yellow Jumpsuit April did.
CanadianFett
02-22-2003, 08:43 AM
Yeah, I was surprised to see Eastman and Laird again...they would make cool cameo characters to appear every once and awhile.
I'm enjoying this one, stuff like Mike's wink at the start, or Raph's suggestion to wake April up again "Let's nudge her".
Stockman sure isn't one of Saki's lackeys this time around, all yelling at him, and sh!tting on him
That split screen shot of Mike and the lasew arm was unneeded.

I like raph's line "ignore mikey and you're life will be a lot easier"

for the origin story, was there always a blind man that was gonna get hit? i think i remember that, but i cant remember :dead: i know the coffee can thing was in the movie, and one of their favorite words was pizza  lol when splinter picked the first one up, and it shook the ooze off, it looked cute ^_^ :D

02-22-2003, 09:05 AM
There's always been a blind man involved in the origin.
Machias Banshee
02-22-2003, 09:06 AM
Heh, I think them doing that whloe pizza thing with them so young was kinda symbolic, like how the old cartoon was the younger, immature form of the turtles, so to speak, ya know? ;)

They needed a reason for the Ooze in this one. I think it would have been cool if Stockman had been working at TCRI and dumped the Ooze in a drain.
I like how Shredder has a reason to be ticked at the turtles now.

Heh, i agree, the part with the baby turtle shaking the stuff off onto Splinter was adorable... :D I SO want the encode now... :thyper: so cute!!!!!!
oH my God, I was watching it in our lounge, and old vending machine guy came up to me, and asked if i knew where it originated! :o Heh, Even the older folk remember where they originated! Right in my home town! The Eastman and Laird lived only hours from me, and did the comic right near me! Heh, its good to be in New Hampshire/Maine.... :D

I have em' all on tape, maybe I'll watch them all later.
This episode was pretty damn funny.
"Your reign of terror is over, Stockman."
"Have you been practicing that?"
"Yeah, do you like it?"
Sumthin' like that.

Once again, TMNTG2 aims to please. This episode rocked to high heaven (or low hell). Points of interest:
-I love the interaction between the Turtles. They actually seem like living beings now.
-The origin story was well-done, I think. The inclusion of Pizza and Cowabunga had me rolling on the floor. :P
-I never noticed the red masks till now... I assumed it was just the way the scene was coloured in, hence why Splinter is brown in this.
-New Baxter has finally proven himself to me. Now just don a pair of wings and I'll be happy. I love how he backtalks to Saki, which brings us to the final point...
-The new Shredder wipes the f***ing floor with the old one. This guy is HARDCORE. I can't wait to see this bastard don the full suit and kick some ass.
EDIT: Changed the first sentence to something less confusing.

Did anyone notice during the origin when the Turtles were little, They were joking around, saying cowabunga, and eating pizza. Acting like there old TV series selves, then Splinter says: "Intelligence soon followed"
Anyway this was the best eppisode so far, the really are getting better and better.
It seems as though the reason for Raph to get a motorcycle is to chase down Casey on his motorcycle, thats what it looks like from the preview.

Eee....! :D
Well, I ended up missing the beginning and April's first reaction (narly hubby having to see the news). Oh well.. and thus I wait for the encode.
But the origin story. Eh.. It was oookay, but so very predicatable. Because it sounded nearly identical as the movie verison! It does! It just added more scenes to see more of what had happened (like in the Mirage comic) and changed a couple of the quotes. ("Splinter" instead of "Pizza-pizza", etc.)
The story also seemed to move too fast. Like, there was hardly any aprehension on April's behalf. She was suddenly all cool with the TMNT in no time flat, as if she knew they before. Oh well. :D
The invasion at Stockman's lab was fascinating. Nice action and interaction. Stockamn is really starting to look like those big-headed crazy types too.
And.. this detail bugs me. So they have a wall of TVs, but they only look at one? :-? :P
Can't wait to see this intro with Casey... and motorcycles. That one looks really cool!

Wow I love the writers of this show. There is no question that they are writing for, and they are themselves, TMNT fanboys (and girls). Just look at some of the great references in this episode alone:
1) The TMNT all in red bandanas during their training days
2) Showing the turtles saying "Cowabunga" and eating pizza then Splinter's comment that "Intelligence soon followed".
3) When the guys put their hands together and said "Turtle Team" (I think) and Mikey's like "Or whatever we say when we all have our hands together."
I also love the villians in this show. Stockman is a lunatic, but a lunatic who apparently didn't realize who he was getting involved with when it came to the Shredder. Man, Hun and Shredder are major Badasses. I love it  !

Man, I'm liking really liking Mike's character this time around. Before, he was just the funny one cuz of how he was and acted, now, it's what he says, and I'm kinda noticing that his humour is rather sarcastic in a light hearted way...I like it!

in the old toon mike was way to extreme this show he's hilarious.
i noticedn that they re-oriented don's sense of humor, he's had a light sense of humor in the mirage & in the first movie
i think raph is funny in this one too, him being mean to mike i find just hilarious, but it's a different funny than the old toon the old one completely mischaracterized raph
they even made splinter funny! with the turtlecomm and the "intelligence soon followed"
but it's all very accurate they're funny but true to their characters

Actually, an episode of any show circa 1989 would've been 22 minutes, and a full hour show would've run about 44.
They've reduced that time by a minute in the last few years, but they've also allowed for a fourth commercial break(typcally, a show was broken up into 3 acts, so there were three 7 minute segments, plus the opening sequence.. roughly 22 minutes). So each segment is shorter than 10 years ago, making it seem like a quicker story.

Yet another great episode, not much action but VERY FUNNY. This episode was the funniest of the 3. What made this episode seem so short was because they explained their origins again. For us old people, we know it like the back of our hands, if not better. Of course this is a must have for those younger generation who didn't grow up with the TMNT. I can't wait for the next episode with Casey Jones. Oh yeah one question to those who read the previews, are the Triceraton gonna be in the show anytime soon?

Finally got to see last weeks episode and the new one.
1) Nice Kermit the Frog reference!
2) Michaelangelo, you rock for keeping the late 80's alive! Dont let that Raph be too hard on ya...totally cowabunga! (Is mikey the only one keeping the era of late 80's lingo and pizza alive?)
Loved the 'do you ever stop Mike?' comment!
3) April is DAMN hot...wow. Shes got such a cool personality, and smarts...very cool.
4) I enjoyed 2 and 3 much better than the first episode...and next week looks like an action packed bonanza when Casey debuts!
5) When the heck is he gonna turn into the Shredder? Hmmm...also hope nothing bad happens to Baxter.
6) Baxter rules...he wipes the floor with that weak little biotch from the old toon.
7) I cant wait for the new April figure! I also gotta say, still...TMNT is th eonly watchable show on FoxBox.
Thats all...its great to have TMNT back!

Heh, can't be any worse than what some fanboys are doing with my April in a towel drawing.
Okay, my review. First off, did anybody else catch that TMNT commercial that was on really early this morning? It had Don talking, and I turned it on right at "Some Turtles are meant to make things... and some are meant to break things." Then they go on to show Raph crashing his bike. Don's all, "Take the sewer slider, my brother Raph does." Then Raph proceeds to trash it, as well. The BEST part is that then Don starts chasing Raph around the lair with this HUGE sledgehammer! LOL! Man, it was great.
Okay, the ep: Totally loved it! It was so funny.
-Mike's wink at the beginning was so great and I loved April's reaction, as well as the guys' reactions to her. NOBODY had any idea of how to act.
-They showed the baby turtles. How CUTE! Love the part where one shook the ooze onto Splinter. Hey, if someone was holding you up by your tail, do you really think you'd be that happy?
-"Intelligence followed soon after." ROTFL!
-And after all Raph's jabs at Mike, there's Raph's "Especially you." line. Aww, that was so sweet. I knew there was a reason I loved him.
And I can't wait for the Casey episode.
I love Saturdays!! They are so exciting
I really love the relationship between the Turtles. And Mikey is really cool. He's silly but its not overboard, I dont know how to explain it.
Since I don't get FoxBox until Sundays, I'll just comment on one observation I have made:
This episode only has 7 pages of discussion...was it really THAT good?

Yes, the episode is really that good.
And the origin story is a treat !

:D I liked the New episode. At least it showed that Splinter was a rat the whole time in that origin. I can't wait until the Casey Jones episode. It reminds me of the one sene in TMNT 1. I also can't wait until the turtles finally come face to face with Saki or Saki as Shredder.
I post how I like the 4th episode in a week.

I really enjoyed this episode. This origin was very accurate with some twists...their childhood which was never shown in the movies, Mirage, or the first series. It was so cute when the baby shook the ooze off it landed on Splinter. I believe that was Mikey but I am not 100% positive. :P
Vroomkid
02-22-2003, 11:02 PM
Yea, speaking of the whole childhood turtles ( I guess CMNT then?) Who's who exactly? Anyone wanna chip in their 2 cents? This will probably make a good trend....
Anyway, I agree that the ooze-shaking one is Mikey, and so is the one who's trying to walk on 2 feet when following Splinter (I just thought his walk and style resemble Mikey...imitating Splinter and all like in the 1st ep).
I thought the talking one was Donatello...cause it kinda has the same voice as the one being pushed in the pizza scene and the skin tone is kinda like Don's...the one saying "Mine" is probably Ralph....which makes in wonder...shouldn't Ralph be pushing Mikey? That's where I start to get confuse...probably we're never meant to know who's who anyway.
Cascadia

I will have to look at the skin tones again when they were children. I know that the one that said "Mine" is Raph
Ok some more on the April and Don connection, just because Im bored and Im rewatching all these episodes again!
In the credits when htey show April winking from the helicopter...DON is the one who jumps onto the rope!
AND....April always wears a purple shirt!!!!!!!!
Could these be subtle hints to suggest that they might hook up?

Mikey the Party Turtle
02-23-2003, 02:49 AM
I loved this episode, but there were a few nit-picks I didn't really like:
The way Baxter looked really cartoony when Saki called him up (Look at his face. He goes from :D "MOney money!" to " :o "What now?" ), also, Mikey running to do,"Slingshot" that splitscreen didn't need to be there, but other wise an awesome epsiode! I have guesses to who the baby-child turtles were:
- Turtle shaking ooze onto Splinter:Mikey (Look at the way Splinter looks at him then and now. :D )
- Turtle who stands up, either Donny or Leo.
- Turtle who says,"Splinter...?" That was definitly Leo. Listen to his voice.
- Turtle who says,"Cowabunga!" the first time, Mikey
- "Mine!" Come on, who doesn't think this isn't "Hothead" Raph?
- Leo was the one that Mikey got thrown on by Raph, and I believe Donny is the one jumps in from the different angle.
Did anyone notice the turtles having all red bandanas in the flashback? :D
"This is a dream....oh hiiiiiii!"
"Er....hello April....how...are you doing...?"
"Ohhhh, I'm doing just...."
*Splinter walks in and April faints*
"You sure have a way with ladies sensei."
"AGGGGHHHHH!!!!" - April
"AGGGGGHHHHH!!! Don't do that! You made me nearly jump out of my shell!" That brought up memorys of the movie.... :) Did anyone notice that the guy who pushes the blind man away from the TCRI truck was black, and the canister didn't strike his eyes? :-? Maybe Marvel Comics exces got to 4Kids.... Still, it was cool to see the semi-Daredevil aspect of the origin.
Anyone notice also that in the Casey preview, that they are driving the Battle Wagon, and at the end of it, Raph does Keneda's wipe out? :D
As I change a quote from myself...er...Mikey from TMNT 1:
"God I loved being a Turtle....fan!!!!!!!!!" :D

Well, inter species hook ups have had a long tradition in comic books(see Tank Girl the movie or comic), heh.
Yeah, whys there only 7 threads? Dont tell me the excitement died down...granted I dont have tiem to look through all of last week's episode posts or this weeks.
Well, it illustrates the effectiveness of the new April if *I* say shes hot, heh. Seriously, she totally seems like someone I would date...fun, smart, spunky, creative, and very sexy! And that half shirt thing aint half bad, heh.
Oh! Forgot to mention! FINALLY...we have day time scenes! *whew* I was worried every episode would be like Batman the animated series(ie: all at night) That would just get boring. I also hope the massive amount of time spent in the sewers balances out...one can only stand pink sewage water and bland caramel stucko walls so long;) Btw, good to see the Eastman/Laird cops again, heh.

Man, this episode was off the chain! The origin, Hun's debut, Shredder smashing the picture of the turtles. It really does get better every week! And I'm more hyped up for next week than I was for the first week.
I liked how Don pole vaulted up to that turret and shot the other one down, that was awesome. I also liked how Raph sneers at April before picking the lock with his sai. And when Raph says "especially you" it made me feel all warm and fuzy inside...alright I cried, but just a little. Haha j/k
I for one like the unnecessary "effects" like the split screens, and wide screen shots that are used. It looks kind of like reading a comic, and adds a little more drama to the action scenes.
I'm really diggin' the interactions between the charecters. Raph and Mikey are always takin shots at each other, and Raph pushes him around like a big brother. Don and April are hitting it off to say the least. Raph always doing his own thing and Leo trying to keep him under control. Also Leo is always saving Raphs tail. Has anyone noticed that Leo saves him in every episode so far? He saves him from the falling ceiling in the first episode, he pulls him away from the speeding subway in the second, and in this episode he sheilds him from the laser turrets. Leonardo rules! I can't wait to see how Casey acts, and the "Casey vs. Raph" confrontation is one my all time favorite moments in the TMNT saga.
All in all this cartoon is great, and I just can't wait for Saturday.

I guess I'll help you out and say April is a hot Cartoon character.. I mean really, they design females in cartoons to appeal somewhat to the males watching. (Sad but true)
I really don't wanna see Don and April hook up... that's what casey is for!
Now, was their bandanas in the flash back red, or was it just because the flash back took place in Browns and Greens? (Splinter was also the same color of their Bandans in the flash back...) Just something to think about

I really liked this episode. The beginning parts where April first woke up, I liked a lot. And I also liked how April helped quite a bit when storming Stockman's stronghold. I liked how they did the origins although I still don't think the masks were all red. I think that it was because the whole thing was done in brown. If you look real closely, the masks look slightly lighter or darker from turtle to turtle. Also I liked during the origins that the infant turtles weren't wearing the masks and their eyes had pupils. That was probably one of the first things I noticed, the eyes had pupils. Nice to see officer Laird and Eastman again. That's all I have to say.
Karpo_007
02-23-2003, 07:03 AM
I watched the episode twice, I still think they were same color, but Im 100% sure on this. And the TMNT will have pupils when they take their masks off, if that will happen in some episode.
Maybe I missed it, but how did Splinter become gray? Unless my monitor's contrast is really off, I'm pretty sure he was brown during the origins...

Just about everything in the origin flashback is brown. With the exception of the turtles, who are still green, I believe. I also think that all the bandanna's were red-ish simply because they were doing the flashback in monotone. You can see that all the bandannas are slightly different shades of "red". But still, it's a nice effect, and I do believe it was a tip of the hat to the fact that they wear all red in the Mirage comics.

Admittedly the flashback was in monotone, but I do think Splinter is very very dark in the flashbacks.. he definitely *looks* brown-furred. I think it's more homage/timeline stuff. Splinter was brown-furred in the old comics, as well as the old cartoon (both of which are touched on in this flashback). Splinter being brownish in the flashbacks and gray in the series proper is a way of reflecting his age... fifteen years ago, he was a lot younger (duh) than he is now... so its no surprise his fur went gray in the years since he adopted the turtles.

Heh, I actually did an altering of a pic i copied from NTN.com (love ya neil!) and I changed Splinter's coloring to brown. He actually looks pretty good... :D
*squeal* I am SO hapy the boys have a childhood now...I mean, in the first cartoon, it seemed like they'd only taken like, a year or two to learn everything, and that's just simply....Impossible!!!It takes YEARS to get as good as they are.

Yeah I just noticed that yesterday when I rewatched all the episodes. I hadn't noticed the part about the laser but it was true, he was like "Head up, Raph!" Thats sooo cool 8) It's good ot see they watch each other's backs all hte time during fights.
Also I don't mind the split screen stuff. But I'll admit it did look abit wierd when Mikey did hte lingshot part. But some time it looks cool.

As for Splinter's coloration, EVERY rat I've seen in this cartoon has been gray. Its not accurate, but I guess its what the animators chose to go with.

Yea, that was subtle humour right there - showed how Leo over-complicated everything. I laughed a bit at that one.
Speaking on Leo, anyone else wonder how on Earth can a pair of katanas block those laser beams? Aren't they filled with intense heat or something? Shouldn't the katanas have melted upon contact (I mean, that's why the Turtles are running from the Lasers right? That they will burn through them...and out of nowhere Leo uses the weapons to deflect?)
Laser: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. (Man, I forgot the radiation part before now. My old physics teacher woulda bapped me for that.)
Even with the lasers doing harm like they do in the cartoon, they're still basically beams of light waves, and as such, can be reflected by a reflective surface. Like metal katana.

I have watched it twice so far, and I think this might be the best episode so far as far as dialogue goes. Really good writing.
I liked the origin story. May be the best so far. I love all of the references to the movies!!! Pizza, cowabunga, oh man these writers are good...

Heh.. yeah, I noticed Mike hitting himself too. Reason number one why I'm not a chucker! :goofygri: *ish toooo clumsy*
And then I also reasoned why they don't have all the TVs on in this epidoe. Prolly the effect of having Raph smash one of them.

i think the whole "gut feeling" thing with splinter and leo was just like in the old cartoon in "The Big Black-Out." When the turtles came and told splinter that the technodrome was back Splinter said "i know." then the TMNT asked questions like "how did you know . . . did you see it while meditating etc." and splinter said "no, i saw it on the 5 o'clock news"

Hey, is it possible that Splinter gave Hun those scars on his face? Kind of like the first movie, but with Hun instead of Shredder. I thought I read somewhere awhile ago that Shredder took Hun under his wing when he was younger, and I was thinking he might have possibly got mixed up in that whole scene. I don't know.

I loved this ep. It was as good as the first one and it showed me that I don't have to be worried about the new April anymore. Raph was really cool and his lines were great ! :D
I've turned my little four years old sister into a TMNT fan, she does not understand English, but she love Mickey because he's funny, Splinter because he's cute and furry  , and Raphael even if he's mean. She doesn't care much for Leo and Donny but she know their name anyway.
As for me, well, I've been a TMNT fan since the first movie came out and my passion for them grew bigger with time. I've been visiting this forum for a while now and I've finally decided to join because I'm sick of having my friend staring at me like I'm from another planet each time I talk about TMNT (and my sis don't know to much about them). So here I am ! :P

I gotta agree with the people who say that this show just keeps getting better and better each time.
There are so many instances that make me laugh... it's great. The whole story seems to be developing very well too... I totally dig the new toon.

come to think of it I didn't know the name of the Mousers until that epiosde. I remenber seeing the Mouser in one TMNT Arcade once.
Mousers are very annoying in the Video Games.

Yes they were. And those things that came up from the ground and had a cord that wrapped around you and shocked ya. What are those anyway?
The really does get better and better. Better plots, better action, and better lines.

OOOH... I hate Mousers to death! I wish Stockman never invented them in the game, but I'm glad he did in the cartoons. Anyway... the episode was fantastic (and seeing that I've recorded each ep so far, I'm happy!). I can't wait for Casey Jones to finally come up this Saturday. I'm patiently waiting for it to come though.

I believe they're called "Roadkill Rodneys"
They appeared only once in an episode of the old cartoon called Enter the Shredder. My favorite episode of the old cartoon.

That's what they were called in the game, I think, but they never got a name in the cartoon as far as I can remember.

At least it is wednesday and not MONDAY!!! faster than you think!
Wow am I late. I think that this episode was again amazing, I can't even begin to compare this show to the old toon. I can't wait until Saturday either, I love the Raph mini series (can you really call one comic a series?).

Why not pop in a VHS tape, and record it?It's just not the same as actually watching it on TV...I don't know. Never said I wouldn't, but it's just not the same...

Hey, at least you will be able to skip the commercials. That will be very useful during the cliffhanger commercial breaks during the Raph/Casey fight scene. :D

Yeah, I agree. Watching a tape just feels... different.
