On Murphy's blog he talks about Playmates started a new "fire" themed TMNT variants, which I can only assume means fire-fighting Ninja Turtles.

Does this mean we'll see the TMNT dressed up as fire-fighters, complete with hard-hats and a fire-hose? Maybe even (lol) a Turtle firetruck?

Playmates has hit a new low, even worse than the Music themed Turtles. At this rate I fully expect "Farmer Mike" and "Hose me down Don" to make comebacks in this toyline.

And to think, in the earliest Vol. 4 letters pages Peter promised us that we would never see these "silly" variants again when the toyline started again back in 2003. Oh well.

An' who wants to bet they're movie varients again.

Murphy (with the help of Gary Richardson) successfully negotiated two of the villains of this subset away from Slash and Mouser. Instead, Playmates are making Dooney-designed versions of Murphy's off-hand references to "lava man" and "flaming meteor monster".

I don't think anyone's seen Metal Klawz or Spyder Bytez.

Indeed, that's because they are not out yet.

My question is, why and when? Don't tell me Paula's guess was right, and they won't be out until 2009.....

A firefighter variant line would be an ideal time to give us a new Hothead!

Or Hot Spot. Unfortunately, Playmates seems to abhor allies now, seeing as we haven't gotten any new ones in over a year to my recollection.

When were there mini allies? All they've produced to my knowledge were villains and turtles.

The only thing I can think of him referring to would have been the movie minis, but those were released well over a year ago.

Er....I already have a Fire-fighter varient.... Fire-Fighting Don from 1991. I don't have any of his accessories cuz I got him from a friend a couple years back but he comes in a firefighters uniform (boots, gloves, hard hat, jacket, and a hose around one of shoulders).

He was called Hose-Em Down Don and came with Easy-Access Axe, Sizzle-fizzle Sewer Seltzer Bottle, Fightin' Fire Hydrant with Hose

The funny thing is those 2 figures where scheduled to be rereleased back in 1994 w/ collector cards but for whatever reason (like stupidity this is playmates after all) they never came out.

Yeah, I know it was. That's how I know you have/had it :D In fact, a majority of the images there are yours.

Anyone think they should be Mystic Ninja Fire based warrior varients instead of "Fire Fighters?"

And if they have to be Firemen... a portion of the proceeds better got to some Fire Fighter based charity organization or something.

Wonder if Raph's gonna have realistic "Goes on sick leave to compete in body building competition, and doesn't get fired until 3 weeks later" action.

This looks more like "Planets of the Turtleoids" than Earth. TMNT as fire fighters (the original already had military), and the Party Van or Battle Shell replaced with maybe a "party fire truck", destroys the entire concept? What's the next? Astronauts with a the "party spacecraft"? Businessmen? Doctors with the "party ambulance"? Funeral directors with the "party funeral car"? Dentists? Taxi drivers with the "Party taxicab (Watch Raphael drives em' wild instead)"? Bus drivers with the "party bus"? Railroad engineers with the "party train"? Priests? Pilots with the "party aeroplane"? Police officers with the "party police car"? Politicians? Kindergarten teachers? Psychologists? Economists? Reporters (replacing April and Irma)?

The TMNT shall not work 9 to 5. They are ninjas and have to hide in the sewers because they are turtles and humans fear the different ("Planets of the Turtleoids"). Maybe they can enter society in the future (like "Once upon a Time Machine", "Future Shark" or "Fast Forward").

The only fire fighter in TMNT that I know is Chu Hsi (later Warrior Dragon/Hothead).

Listen... we can whine, grouse, complain all we want, and Playmates will STILL be under the impression kids want mindless varients of the turtles and 2 whole unrelated villains to go with them. They'll sell terribly, and we'll never see the GOOD stuff they plan.

If the unrelated villains are cool, you can at least hope they will be added to the show or some comics.
