I have some of these comics (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/archie/specials.htm). Sometimes they appeared in the Swedish TMNT comics instead of the original Archie comics or the UK Hero Turtles comics. They don't seem to fit into the original storyline (like Krang and Shredder re-appearing like in the 1987 cartoon), but still use Archie only characters like Cudley the Cowlick. Are they a separate TMNT universe or just loosley based on the Archie comics?

They're basically 'other stories' in the Archie TMNT universe (tending to not really 'fit in' to the main comic).

There was a similar thing with some of the TMNT Presents Mini-Series Archie did.

I really liked "If a Tree Falls" and "The Wrath of the Fire God". In "The Wrath of the Fire God", they had http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Sagan in it, and the aliens from planet Grem tried to brainwash him.

Some of those special are confusing. Like Special 8 had an entirely different origin for Ninjara and Naga. In this one she was a normal fox who had been captured by a dog catcher in Japan and then somehow mutated. Instead of her true origin, being a member of a natural anthro race of fox people.

My fave one tho is TMNT Special 10. Mostly cuz it has Naga (Ninjara's brother) in it. One of the stories has Naga, Raph, and Ninjara visiting Yellowstone, while another has Raph and Ninjara trying to have a romantic evening together. For some reason Naga appears to be living with them! Raphael even calls him Lil Bro. Awwww... :D

Published in 1994 (see http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/archie/specials/fall94/10.htm), when Ninjara's origin had already been revealed in the Archie comics. If so, you can take it as an own TMNT universe I suppose, but still based on the Archie comics.

Anybody have any good-sized and quality scans of Turtle April from... I think it's Special 6 or 7?
