Did you saw this from the discussion here: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=25029. I know it is not inspired by the Technodrome (and the Technodrome is said to be inspired by the Death Star in Star Wars). The Stockholm Globe Arena is a sports arrena and was completed in 1989 and resemble a golf ball. But I would have been fun to see the TMNT didn't visit Stockholm in the 1987 cartoon European Vacation episodes and mistook the Stockholm Globe Arena for the Technodrome (could be a good fanfic).

Welp....now I have a kewl place to go to if I ever visit Sweden.
It is currently the largest hemispherical building in the world and took two and a half years to build. Shaped like a large golf ball, it has a diameter of 110 meters (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 meters (279 feet). The volume of the building is 600,000 cubic meters (21,188,800 cubic feet). It has seating capacity for 16,000 spectators for shows and concerts, and 14,119 for Ice Hockey. It represents the Sun in the Sweden Solar System, the world's largest scale model of the Solar System.
Yes...cuz the sun looks exactly like a giant white golf ball.... those crazy Swedes.
Pope John Paul II held a mass in the arena in 1989 as the first pope to hold a mass in Sweden.

Cool. AIK and Djurgårdens IF in Dimension X (AIK and Djurgårdens IF's ice hockey teams played in the Stockholm Globe Arena earlier). There is an ice hockey division in Sweden named Division 1. Replace the word Division 1 with Dimension X (like when Donatello in the "Landlord of the Flies" episode of the 1987 cartoon said to Baxter on a baseball stadium he had to play the rest of the season in another dimension). When you say Division 1 and Dimension X in Swedish, they sound more like the same word than in English.

There is an ice hockey rink inside. Of course, the ice hockey player there would be Casey Jones. Splinter or the Rat King would play for AIK, who was known as the AIK Rats in the late 1990's and early 2000's. :)

I have heard they compare the Technodrome to the Houston Astrodome (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliant_Astrodome) in the 1987 cartoon, but in the dubbings into Swedish that's edited out and replaced with comparing it to the Stockholm Globe Arena.

That's from "Coroporate Raiders from Dimension X". Does anybody have another idea of how the Stockholm Globe Arena could appeared in the 1987 cartoon than the TMNT going to Sweden when visiting Europe and confuse it for the Technodrome?

Do you think something like that would work for a live action movie (I don't know how they did with the Death Star in Star Wars).

Now that I think of it, yes. I think they could make it work and look really good if they wanted to.

Here is the model http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Globen_modell.jpg. It's dated 1985. Here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_Globe_City is more. The Stockholm Globe Arena represents the Sun in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden_Solar_System.
