This type of thread I am sure has been done, but I thought it would be fun.

Personally I wish they had a Movie Star Shredder! further a movie star line of the first movie turtles would have been sweet. Which brings me to think why not do a line for the first movie much like all these McFarlin movie toys we see for all these other movies.

They had Super Shredder from the "Secret of the Ooze" movie, as well as Tokka and Rahzar, and Foot Soldier. But no moviestar April, and not characters like Keno, professor Jordan Perry, Tatsu and Vanilla Ice. But look at http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/1992.htm, the action figures for the characters from the third movie are dated 1992, the film itself 1993.

I want the freaking Raphael bust that was supposedly gonna be released a couple years ago. not a toy but a Playmates' item.

I would like 5 piece TMNT1 set, about 7" figs with exacting detail all the way down to Raph's scar on his lip and the little curl of Mikeys smile. :P
Actually I'd lke Sideshow to do a 10" TMNT1 set in polystone....

Yes, but that's Super Shredder. CT was talking about just plain ol' Shredder.

The S is right i meant plain shredder and even super shredder wasn't what I would call their 'Movie Star' line. Being as the turtles looked more or less like the ones from the movie in detail.

And again with the Nightwatcher thing.... (shivers)

The entire Justice Force, past and Present.

And all the stuff they could have done from the Lost Season...

and cartoon turtle toys that didn't do Tex Avery stuff unlike the actual cartoon. Basically the same as everyone else.

I also wish they made a Shredder that came with a removable helmet, and a removable chest plate that revealed Che'rell.

There were also a few vehicles from the early first season episodes. I remember the foot using. There was this bike thing and a flat track vehicle that were gray, I always figured the mini technodrome vehicle was the closest they got to that. I found in general there were far fewer bad guy vehicles which sucked I thought.

Hard to say, since the Toon Irma looked different from the Irma in the 'Toon.

It was kind of disappointing that there was only one villain in the Toon line, and it was a repaint.

I baught an orange tabby figure from Michaels a while back and put it in front of one of my Michelangelo figures. Looks enough like Klunk that it's almost as if I have an actual Klunk figure. :D

Im tempted to buy one of those orange tabbies they have at build a bear store and name it Klunk. I'd love to have an official Klunk plushie tho. That would be awesome.

I always thought that the 'Foot Cruiser' (which I still want to buy I might add) looked a little like the car the neutrinos had. In fact the episode where shredder ends up taking off with it, I always assumed they would make it into the foot cruiser, but like every plot line in the OT the bad guys NEVER made any progress or did anything, which kinda sucked.

The Footcruiser was released in 1989 (see http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/1989.htm). Sadly it didn't appear in the 1987 cartoon. It could have been a neutrino vehicle that Krang and Shredder stole from the neutrino's planet and re-built.

^ Ya like I say correct me if I'm wrong, but there was an actual episode where Shredder drives off in their car, unless he crashed it and I don't remember. I just remember thinking when i saw it, that the next ep they would have a re-paint of it which would have been cool!

I have always been a fan of listing the appearance of all the toys in the show. There seemed to be short sperts of time where they would extensively use the items and then drop them all together.

So I forget, was their an ending or did he get away and then we never hear from it again?

Its like they would change writers and things would change. Like when they would go in one directing with the episodes and then the other. I always never really liked the episodes where they would fight random 'thugs' or mob guys. I always liked the mutant episodes and the Shredder and Krang ones. But I guess who doesn't?

These are all great ideas. Regarding old toon gangsters: I find the old Dick Tracy line is a great fill in. Both were made by playmates and have the same construction/engineering.

I don't know why Fred Wolf and Playmates didn't work closely regarding the toys and their cartoon counterparts. I know for sure that we'll never get every character in toy form because it's very expensive to make toys. They have to be very selective. Still I don't know why Fred Wolf would write stories around made up and sometimes rather lame characters when they had plenty of toy characters to pick from. Someone made a good point about ace duck having a very small cameo, while cool, doesn't make sense. When you can do anything with him why limit it to a cameo? I guess maybe there wasn't a lot of incentive for Fred Wolf to put every single one of the toy characters in the cartoons. And similarly Playmates wouldn't want to make boring supporting cast toys that Fred Wolf came up with solely for one or two episodes, especially if they think they wouldn't sell.

Anyway, I would've loved a Rex-1. But my main want is Armaggon. I remember playing him in TMNT Tournament fighters and having a comic with him right on the cover, and wondering when he'd show up in toy form. I would have thought a Shark character would have been a better seller than say a pizza chef or a kangaroo.

While I'd love cartoon accurate toys, a large part of me still wants a lot of those characters done in the old toy line style. Mostly just so they'd fit with the rest of my collection.

It's...uh... not so much the parents... it's more the kids themselves... they don't WANT action figures or any of the small scale toys. They want the big expensive things (that more likely than not, they can't afford... leading us into the mess we're in now), and that means the action figures and all that are pushed behind.

Of course, only Hasbro is really pulling its freaking weight... Mattell's started some good stuff with the DC line. Ban Dai still doesn't know what to do in America (outside of Power Rangers of course), and Playmate's only has TMNT keeping it afloat.

From what I know... Animating a new character would need to be designed, then animated like any other character/thing in the show. So there really isn't much of a higher cost than animating the show in the first place.

Toys need to be individually sculpted, and then have metal molds made which I hear are extremely expensive. This is why toy companies try to reuse parts to create different toys (like Transformers being repainted into new characters, or Mattel's DC line or Hasbro's ML line which has been brought up in this thread, sharing different body parts to create new characters). Because of this they don't want to gamble. They want to put out toys they know they can sell. If the toys become pegwarmers it will hurt future retail orders of the toys and possibly kill the toy line altogether.

So when Playmates is choosing what figures do or don't get made, just imagine a bunch of people who have no emotional connection to the property but rather a financial one, all in a room saying stupid sh*t like: "Big Shark guy action figure - that probably wouldn't sell because kids are afraid of sharks, my kids were watching Jaws the other night, scared the crap out of them. Nope, cancel the Shark guy, kids won't buy it and parents won't buy it for their kids. Next! Big kangaroo mutant? Hell yeah Kanagroo Jack was on last night, my kids love that movie. Can we give him boxing gloves? Never mind, that's too violent. Lets just give him a boomarang instead. Boomerangs don't have a long history as a violent weapon, they're like crazy frisbees. Lets go with Kangaroo man. If you can, work in some stupid Australian movie stereotypes!"

PS I love Walkabout, I just use him as an example because he's an easy target.

Yeah but there are obvious examples of them canceling toys or not making all show characters. And there are even some examples of characters not in the show (Alien Hunters) though these days they try to tie toys in with any media because it's the best advertisement for the toys. A lot of the turtle variants are put in the show after the toy has released. Thanks to computer animation the turn around for the episodes is pretty fast and 4kids and Playmates are simply more in tune with each other, moreso than Wolf and Playmates ever were.

He never used them. But some of the gang was in the season 3 episode "The Gang's All Here" as humans. This means:
A: - Shredder de-mutated them all and sent them back to Earth before season 2
B: - Some of the gang members were never mutated at all and left the Technodrome after the others were mutated, while those who were mutated were left in Dimension X before sesaon 2.

Exactly! which he did in the show and the toy is made around that idea, its just to bad we never get to see the re-paint on the show. Although we do see the "eye bombs" in the show on other vehicles which never became toys.

To go back on an earlier item we were talking about in this thread. The foot cruiser being a representation of the Neutrinos car they stole. The box of the foot cruiser actually shoes it flying with no wheels so even there it looked more like the neutrinos car that the actual toy.

The foot cruiser's wheels fold in to make it a hover car.

Nopers, we have yet to ever get a human Baxter Stockman figure, I sure hope we get one in the NECA line of toys.

Yeah that line had endless potential but they never really went with it, I remember being shocked as a kid seeing Tokka & Rahzar in the mutatin' line.
They seriously could have done all kinds of things.

Did the mutatin' figures sell bad?

I don't think they did, but instead of more standard Mutations, they started with weird rubbish like the Night Ninja and Road Ready lines.

Why not release the 1987 show's main villain for the last two seasons? It's like not releasing Shredder.

I don't understand why Fugitoid was released. He was just a Mirage character (2003 cartoon didn't exist in 1990) and must have been unknown to many kids growing up around 1990.

Sorry to necro-post but this topic rocks. About Fugitoid, I also found it weird that in TMNT III Manhattan Project had Fugitoids as bad guys in the Technodrome level....

And speaking of obscure... they made a Shogun Shoate figure. Who would even know who he is?

It's the same with some figures who were in both the 1987 cartoon and the Archie comics, in one storyline some of them were good guys, and bad in the other.

WOW! now thats a list.

Hey I think it was on this thread we were talking about the Footcruiser being the same as the neutrino car and the episode where shredder stole it!

Well I finally got one with its original box, and it says right on the back of the box that the neutrino's gave it to the turtles and shredder stole it... so it was in the episode as that happening like the box said but it never got any farther then that...

Just a useless fact if you didn't already know. hahaha

They had pillow sized ones years back. The closest thing you could find now are plush TMNT tree ornaments (and since it's wall after Christmas, good luck with that), and maybe the plush slippers at Hot Topic. Though, I wouldn't rule out any 25th anniversary stuff in the coming months.

I wonder why they never made the giant Pizza Monster things. They were all over the video games at one point.

As for right now, I wish that they made Foot TMNT from BTTS... that ain't gonna happen, though.

I'm skeptical that even the Cyber Turtles are coming out... since I recall the release date as supposedly being January and tomorrow's the last day of the month...

(Then again, Murph said on his blog that the Mirage TMNT SourceBook had a release date of Dec. 2008, and according to Tristan and Laird, that project's still full steam ahead....)

And all the stuff they could have done from the Lost Season...

I also wish they made a Shredder that came with a removable helmet, and a removable chest plate that revealed Che'rell.

I agree! They should've made toys of the Turtle's dragon forms and one of the Demon Shredder. I would've bought them!

I like the Utrom Shredder idea! The lost season has soo much figure potenital but Playmates never jumped at it.

It would've been cool if they had figures for Comin Out of Their Shells.
