Synopsis:
When the Turtles are reunited with Casey and April, it’s smiles all around… until it becomes clear that Casey’s being brainwashed by his new martial arts instructor, Master Khan, a devoted Foot operative. The Turtles must save Casey (and themselves) from this deadly Foot fanatic!
Ok let's see the opening was rad, but then after the episode started and Mikey started with his typical crap which was way worse than anything I saw him do in Fast Forward I pretty much would have loved to take a bazooka to his face.
I felt so bad for Serling, I wanted him to drop whatever that was ok Mike's head stupid douche bag that he is.
It's great that Serling got to meet April and Casey, it's a shame we didn't get to see them talking more to him and the turtles about the future.
I also thought it was cute when Serling commented about April having the same eyes as Cody, made me totally have an awww moment.
I think Both Casey & April look really good fully animated also I was worried about how they looked at first and April is going to take a bit of getting used to still but I think in time I'll get used to it.
She does look cute it's just a bit to preppy looking now if I must say.
Casey looks pretty much the same to me.
I think this whole Master Khan thing could turn out to be really cool and I think Casey looks cool in his new dojo outfit.
Anyone else shocked that talked about Casey coming home with some one else's blood on him?
I guess it's ok as long as they don't show it.
So ummm the new Turtle Van thing, does anyone else think it looks like a garbage truck? The only think I could think of the entire time was that they had to take that from the garbage man.
I also hope everyone who was whining last week about them not caring enough about what happened to Splinter is happy now, they pretty much talked about it the entire episode and Donatello is becoming the Emo Leo of this season.
I enjoyed the scene when they found Splinter in cyberspace though.
I wonder what will happen when and if Kahn realizes that Cyber Shredder is not the true Shredder he served.
This series is really shaping up already, I hate that we've only got 13 episodes.
I really wish people including the companies backing them would have more faith in the turtles.

Master Khan is like the new Tatsu.
When he said, "Master Shredder" at the end it sounded just like Tatsu from the movies. :D

I agree that I liked this episode alot and hated the part with Mikey being a douche to Serling. I don't mind Serling being her at all (especially since Splinter is not around) and I think they have great opportunities with interaction between him and April/Casey.
Anyways, I loved the episode and Kahn as a villian. I was thinking the way he was moving around that he seemed like a foot elite to me. I wondered if he was one of them that has set out on whatever his plan is.
I just disliked the part when they were sad about Splinter gone in the beginning and Mikey is still just goofing around with Serling. I guess they were trying to put some comedic relief in there but that was really misplaced.
This season seems allready leagues better than FF. I wished they planned on making this 26 episodes now.
I think the Splinter voice they saw was not really Splinter but the Cyber Shredder trying to set a trap. That's just my prediction.

I wasn't one of the ones that was whining last week about their lack of emotions toward Splinter. I actually didn't see last week's episode and just had what people told me to go by.
I am not and never have been, a fan of angst. Even in television or fanfiction it kinda depresses me. But...
Why did it seem like Don was the only one that really...cared?
Yes it was mentioned throughout the whole show but APRIL showed more emotion about it than the other three turtles (with the exception of the one scene where she first mentioned it and they all looked like their puppy got kicked).
Mike is skateboarding and looking like he's ready to have a party, even with annoying Serling like he was.
Raph: *in reference to Don* Try to see if you can do something about MR SOURPUSS over there.
Because watching MY father get blasted to bits would make me the life of the party.
The episode as a whole was not bad. It's nice that Casey was being controlled by a machine. I know some were worried this would be a "casey is dumb" episode and it wasn't that at all.
Them finding Splinter at the end was good. Hope they can rescue him soon. But all in all I still say this looks like the "Splinter is kidnapped let's rescue him" plotline that we've seen a million times before.

Cool episode, It'll be interesting to see if Ch'rell fights with Cyber Shredder when he gets back.
There were some really dumb things tho:
1. Mikey was ****ing inexcusable at the begining... who writes his dialouge?
2. The new ride is a garbage truck...
3. Don has soooo much new **** in like 8 hours, good for him.

I thought the episode was great. I agree that the worst part was Mike at the beginning. It was a little too much.
It was really cool to see April and Casey return...they weren't in the Ninja Tribunal eps much and I can't remember the last time they had such a prominent role in an episode. It was refreshing. I thought the first commercial break cliffhanger was terrible though, it was obviously Casey!
I really like the Master Khan plot, but I'd like to see more backstory on him. I'm sure more of his past will be revealed as the series goes on. I was wondering the whole episode what his beef is with the Turtles anyway? Then it kinda made sense when I saw the Foot insignia.
Mike doesn't seem to be very bothered by the Splinter thing, though everyone else does. Maybe he just hides it well. Some people would rather laugh than cry, I guess.
This episode reminded me of the old cartoon episode with Octopus Ink. Funny, it also was a Casey Jones episode! Why's everyone trying to get to the Turtles by brainwashing Casey?
As far as I'm concerned, besides the pupils and April's anorexic design, the series is back to where it should be. Cool!

I think its just like the writers can never be consistent with Mike's character.
It always seems like the play him up for comic relief but forget he should be just as concerned with what's going on as the rest of the Turtles.
Old toon Michaelangelo was far more responsible than his 2k3 counterpart. At least he spent all his spare time cooking pizzas. :D

Over all I liked it. I dunno if Mikey is acting any different then he has perviously. I agree it is a little much that he is always doing something to bug everyone else and Raph is always knocking him on his butt. It is just getting over used.
Speaking of getting knocked on their butt. Casey really gave the guys a run at the beginning there when he came into the lair. I kinda had a hard time believing they wouldn't instantly know who each other was considering I don't think the turtles have many people coming in and out.
And was April just waiting outside the front door until she was cued :P
Poor Donny, I guess it is his turn to be all angsty like Leo was there for awhile in 2K3. At least the guys are being supportive and letting him know they don't think it was his fault at all. I think we will get a peek at a new side of Don which is nice even though it isn't under the best circumstances.
Being the first time I have seen April and Casey I am pretty happy with them. April didn't look right to me at first but hearing her talk reaffirmed that is still the same April. Her eyes are very striking.
I am still not sold on the turtle faces. I think sometimes the heads look small and the mouths are a little funny. They go to a V shape a lot???
I did like the plot overall and the way it ended leaves me wanting more!!!

Sigh... I love Mikey and all, but the 2 low points were Mikey Skateboarding all over the place and that crap with Serling. HOWEVER...when he rushed out of the battle, and drove the Battle shell through the building, that was amazing. I agree he's inconsistent. I feel Mikey should be comic relief BUT should be responsible, like he was here. Though, I admit, I laughed for a whole 2 minutes after he puked and said "I didn't have corn!"
But as much as a cliche as "Brainwashing" or general mind control is, they really worked it well here. I especially like how Casey acted all normal outside of the class.... though somehow, I think the brainwashed Casey in Corporate Raiders from Dimention X was funnier... but maybe only because that was when he was wearing a hockey mask AND a suit and tie.
But I agree... this is shaping up to be a great season so far... and April looks pretty good in animation. Much better than just the flat character design. I had a feeling these new designs would look much better in animation.
I also enjoy how serious Don is over the scrambling of Splinter. I hope it doesn't become something he says every five minutes (akin to Leatherhead shouting "I'm a Monster" every five minutes). And it looks like we're gonna have a pretty exciting episode starting with Splinter's re-discovery.

Does anyone think this season might focus a little more on Donatello than the others?
We've had plenty of Leo, Mike and Raph focus in the show, but Don tends to get the short end of the stick a lot.
Its almost the exact opposite of the old toon, where Don was the star of almost every episode and constantly saving the day, but in the new toon he hasn't had as many "glory" moments, so to speak.
Laird considers Don to be his favorite Turtle, which is why I always found it a bit odd than he doesn't get as much focus in the current cartoon as he should.

Yeah, I agree. As much as I like the 2k3 cartoon better than the old one, Mike isn't nearly as annoying in the old cartoon. If his jokes were actually funny rather than annoying, it would be different. I think the 4th movie also suffered from this. Still just a minor quibble, though.

Anyone else shocked that talked about Casey coming home with some one else's blood on him?
That line disturbs me. It implies Casey beat or killed someone regardless of weather he was brainwashed. Eitherway, that's dark even it's not shown.
Though, I admit, I laughed for a whole 2 minutes after he puked and said "I didn't have corn!"
I almost missed the next plot point because of laguhing to hard. It wasn't that funny, just had great delivery and was so random.
Anyways, this episode rocked to no end.
Prologue: Very much like one of the old ones. It's dark, starts the story, gets me interested about it, and is under a minute (All things FF failed at many times).
The Show: Oh dear god, what the shell is wrong with Mikey? He's really getting on me nerves. However, I've decided to forgive the way he's acting because he's sad later in the episode, thus impling that acting out is his way of dealing with Splinter's death.
April and Casey are back! :thyper:
I know people have said it, and I agree that Khan seems to be a Foot Elite. Did they ever talk? I swear that he sounds like one. Maybe the actor did the grunts for them. Of course, I think the actor has done many voices for this show, so I may be wrong. He's the new badass of the show, and hey, he kicks the turtles' shells like most villians use to.
I liked the bit with Serling and April. Also, anyone notice that Serling doesn't insult them once?
Now, my favorite part: INTERCONFLICT! This hasn't been around since '06. That alone makes this the best episode I've seen in years. This is what was missing from FF. Not darkness, but the ability to blame themself and, dare I say, being able to feel pain other than physical.
Can't wait for next week. Btw, why ain't there a next week commercial? I miss them.

Does anyone think this season might focus a little more on Donatello than the others?
you cant really say anything now becuz its the start of the show/season(:() i think donny had taken some spotlight in the first 2 eps but it would be weird for him not to. i mean, he is the brainy one so he is gonna go in turtle-x. he watched master splinter "die" so hes gonna be depressed. although i dont think hes depressed becuz he saw his father "die", but becuz he thinks he couldve done something and it was his fault.
but i think the whole episode was good overall. i dont really see wats wrong with the mikey part at the beginning, he did that in the first four seasons. hes used to it. i had to get used to aprils look though. and i like how all the episodes so far are cliffhangers. it leavs you wondering whats gonna happen in the next episode. that draws more viewers. i liked the humor. i especially laughed when mikey threw up and said "i didnt have corn!" i started laughing really bad when he said that. and the commercial casey in the dark thing was really lame. it was obviously casey. i wanted to stick my hand up and hit it on my chest then say "dee dee der". but i think it was good. the animations pretty good, but not when they draw characters far away or running into the distance *points to the opening*. i still miss the whole "character talks at the begnning" opening.

Master Khan is like the new Tatsu.
When he said, "Master Shredder" at the end it sounded just like Tatsu from the movies. :D
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.
While I've generally been very tolerant of Mikey throughout the entire series, even I was annoyed by his behavior in the beginning. I wish they could have added a little something about how he was dealing with the lost of Splinter.
Oh and to all those griping about the lack of Splinter angst, I hope this episode will fill your angst meter for the rest of the week.
Nice to see that Mikey hasn't been given a full personality makeover this season. I guess it was a one-time thing for him to be all misguided heroic, hitting that dino with a branch before anyone else even had the chance to blink at it. ^_^
Well, this ep was more exciting than I expected. Did I see the FF opening scene of the Turtles zooming past Serling in a tunnel? I guess the BttS opening is still being tweaked... Anyone else noticed that when Master Khan and the Turtles met, they played the Foot Elite theme? Does 4kids know how to drop a hint or what? :P
The one thing that really ticked me off this morning was... the fact that my DVR didn't record it. :( Now, I have to wait for it to rerun before I can watch it again. Apparently, my DVR also registered this as a rerun of "Tempus Fugit", and it's set to record first-run-only... I'll be changing that ASAP.
EDIT: Oh, and April's new design doesn't look quite as weird to me now that I've heard her usual voice coming from the character... still pretty weird though.

So are we going to find out who Khan really is? Is he an Elite Ninja? That is what really intrigues me. BTW, "April's landlord" really wasn't revealed in this episode. That was Casey's karate instructor. So I guess it's a mystery for another episode.
Oh and I agree. Why can't we get 26 episodes? Even though Laird said it'll only be 13, I think they said the same for FF too. They made 13 more episodes that went towards Season Six. Here's hoping.

I hope Don's not gonna be like this all season, I mean the emo Leo in season 4 was bad enough, but now....I don't even wanna think about it.
Next thing you know Karai will come crashing through the lair (again) and Don will turn back to normal. (I hope it doen't happen like that)
I think we will get a peek at a new side of Don which is nice even though it isn't under the best circumstances.
Like 'The Dark Turtle'? ... Nah. :P
Though, I admit, I laughed for a whole 2 minutes after he puked and said "I didn't have corn!"

oh yeah this episode felt like classic 2k3, especially with that opening! that was great with the that guy being chased by through the dark streets by kahn, right up to the point of him begging for his life and Kahn swinging the staff thingy at him any way.
I loved seeing the new remodling of the turtles lair and how tense Donatello was. Seeing him working day and night replaying the moment of Splinter's "death" is like a form of self torture. I like the emotion this series is going with, it's reminsit of how the old seasons where. I feel so bad that Don is taking this so hard. And Serling was amusing in his own way, and I liked moment of pain he had when he looked at April and said "you have Cody's eyes". This obot does have feelings.
And What a triamphant return of soem old faces! Casey and April! Casey kicked the turtles butts (kind of) whe he first walked into the lair. Casey lokks fine he really doesn't look much diffent thand I thoughrt he was going to look. Loved that big bear hug he gave the guys when he saw it was them. I liekd seeing Casey acting protective of his friends home, how many times did he and April go back to the the turtles lair wondering where the hell they where never knowing. :( Although slight I think this episode really showed how big of an impact the turtles abence had on Casey, enough for him to try marticial arts, go to a karate school and tke it seriously with all the disipline and honer and puncturallity. It;s like he was honoring the turtles in his own way. that and his opening up to a his teacher about the turtles and telling him all about them.
I don't think Casey was just being a bone head when he spilled his guts to his teacher, I think he was just vulnerable and needed to talk to some one about his friends. And I think that is the real reason why Casey was easily brain washed. it's not because he's stupid, it's because he was vulneranble and put his trust in his teacher who was filling a gap for him the turtles filled. if you notice unlike the other students Casey showed signs of not being competely swayed by the Kahn's mind control, even though he was being told that the turtles where his enemies, when he was "normal" he was still happy to see them and kept going to there lair.
And who can forget April, I'm liking her new look, she looks way cuter than she did in her seasons 1-5, and she doesn't look as young and teenage like as i thought she was going to look. We didn't get to see much of her and her reactions but maybe we'll get into that next week. I think it says alot of how much Don is in turmoil that not even his gal pal April couldn'tll him out of his funk.
the whole kahn thing, I was alittle suprised that he was connected to the foot. I kind of thought he would be sepret villan but oh well. I like him so far. But his prences and what he's doing leaves some questions about karai and what the hell she's up to. Isn't she still leader of the foot? His presence leaves some questions. Maybe there was another upheaval in authority in the foot and he's against karai, this could be leading into the three way Shredder battle we saw at last week. I wonder if Kahn is like the cartoons's version of Tatsu?
Now what amde me roll my eyes. Mikey. ugh, I'm glad that the potnetcial death of his father hasn't kept him from his activites. He was the only who didn't seem to be affected by the severaity of the situation. While Leo and Raph at least where more sundied and kept tryimg to comfert Donny. And nice was it that Mikey was being "helpful" by intenctionlly bossing Serling around. This guy was more annoying than ushaul, I saw the scowls on Leo and Raph's face. I was supriosed Don didn't flipp out on Mikey right then and there.
Donny was awsome, he was in such a bad mood, i was afraid that he was going to flip out on every one any minute for bothering him. Loved him saying that every one shoukld leave so he can concentrate more. I got a hug of elation seeing the turtles sneaking around on the roof tops at night. Aww, turtles are back in business. I loved the ending with seeing Splinter stuck in that cube.

I really think this series is going back to what the first few seasons started. The animation is much better then what was seen on FF. I really like the new turtle designs then the other series. Casey's old 2k3 design I prefer more, but this new one will take some getting used to

I was a little surprised at Mikey's lack of mourning over Splinter's departure. But then it hit me that Mikey usually tries to deal with inner pain by trying to ignore it through distracting himself and putting on a jovial front. There were scenes were you could see Mikey really missed Splinter, but then quickly tried to change the subject. Remember the first movie where Donny tries to discuss what life will be like after Splinter's passing and Mikey changes the subject to the pizza guy being late? Mikey has a problem dealing with emotional hurt, IMO. Either that, or the writers just didn't do a good job of convincing us he really misses Splinter.
This just assures me even more that Chrell is the Cyber Shredder.
I must also say that my foot is in my mouth...
TMNT4Kids, make sure you tell the powers that be, that this is a GREAT BALANCE for the show, and I haven't felt like I was watching seasons 1-5 again until todays episode.
I get the vibe of seasons 1-5 again, and it is great. I still have much respect for season 6 though.
If there is only one problem though still, the fight scenes seem a bit weak. I don't know if they weren't fighting much so not to harm the students like they mentioned, or if this is how they will fight every episode, but I hope the fight scenes get better.
All in all though, great episode, and great to feel back at home again.
I agree with those who say that it sucks - BIGTIME - to not see this get the 26 episode treatment, as it deserves it.
Good job 4kids... Can anyone officially tell me how the first episode ratings were?

I haven't read the whole of the thread, since I'm watching the tape as I type.
One thing that bugs me is no one contacted Casey and April, they just happened to run the guys. The least the boys could have done is called.
So this season is all about Donnie angst. Not that I mind, Donnie's gone through more than his brothers if you think about it, but why is it a season has to revolve around one of the Turtles going Emo? Tune in next season for Mikey to be all dark and broody.
Naw, Klunk first. Then Mikey. Then April. I wonder when Raph gets his angst season...

Mkey skateboarding is so cool! Wsh Neutrino made some caps of that!
Also liked their new garbage truck vehicle. At least Mikey got to drive.
Will Raph ever get a new metorcycle or does his streak end @ 3?

I'm really enjoying this season so far. There's been a clear shift in tone, indicated by the dark opening and the "blood on Casey's hands" line. The episode was very exciting, the Turtles finding Splinter wasn't overly cheesy, and was actually a bit creepy. And I'm with everyone who thinks Kahn is a former Foot Elite.
Now, the minor quibbles:
1. Michelangelo's writing. Yikes. Skateboarding loudly while your brothers grieve over the loss of your father raises your douchebag factor by twenty points. And it's a twenty five point scale. He was, however, on the ball towards the end of the episode.
2. The other Turtles' writing. "Cheer up Mr. Sourpuss over there." Yeah, our father just died, hurf durf, cheer up!
3. Sean Schemmel voicing Master Kahn. Since season four, Sean Schemmel has voiced just about every side character in the show. (Nobody, Foot Mystics, Sh'Okanabo, Constable Biggles, Jammerhead, Master Kahn, every single bystander) He's fine, but it's incredibly distracting since his voice is so recognizable.
4. "Didn't we take care of the foot?" Uh, what? Last time we saw the Foot, their forces had been decimated by the Shredder, but they were still very much intact under a reformed Karai. Do the Turtles have selective amnesia?
But still, a solid episode all around.

Freaking duh! I just REALISED that right now. The Skateboarding was a bit over the top (I did like how he said "mondo" actually, kinda a throw back to the old show), and the abusing Serling thing is played... but it does show that he can't deal with his own emotions in a very subtle way.

Donnie did this in "Bad Day", when they were made to believe that tracking his Shell Cell tech allowed Bishop's people to kill April and Casey. Blaming himself, 'shoulda coulda', 'why didn't I predict every single possible outcome to eight decimal places in advance??', unreasonable beating himself up. He has a tendency to take very personally any minute failing on his part that may contribute in some small way, to someone being hurt or killed.
Mikey skateboarding like he doesn't care = coping technique, I believe. Distract yourself from the sad, so you don't have to think about it. The guys going on with their lives despite losing Splinter is a good thing. I think it's been a few days since they came back home, they've had time to get past the initial denial, but they still have hope of him returning... and think of their training; they remain alert to the world around them, rather than turn inward and mope - it's safer for them that way. Though Donnie, giving in to his wish to understand things, have control of the situation, make up for what he sees as his own error: if it's broke, fix it... guy's gonna work himself to exhaustion. I forsee an intervention. :ohwell:
Khan - again with the Foot Elite music. I suppose I can assume he was an Elite guard... though I think I preferred them as a silent, dark menace, rather than a vocal, flamboyant fist-waver. Ah well. The mind control... eh, it works, I suppose.
Okay... are they trying to make the Foot more accessable to new watchers? The Foot=Karai. Yes, I'm a big Karai fan, but I'm not sure that's the only reason this bothers me. Leo says something like "we took care of the Foot, but now they're back,", and Raph adds "but sans the Shredder". Um. Shredder=/= the Foot, for a long time, now, overlooking Karai's temporary claim to the title. Is the show totally pre-empting Karai, for the more recognizable character of the Shredder? The Foot is not gone. There's an uneasy-ish truce, perhaps, but they're not 'taken care of'. The Shredder is 'taken care of', er, flavors Utrom and Tengu, at least, for the moment, but the Foot exists even so, and not necessarily hostile, with Karai in charge.
"You have Cody's eyes..." only they've turned blue. :P Eh, is okay. Though it is going to be awhile before I'll reconcile April's new look with her old voice. It's a good design; it's just so different from the original.
Anyone else shocked that talked about Casey coming home with some one else's blood on him?LOL, I said "Um, blood doesn't exist in this universe, remember?" ;)
But, yeah. Rather shocking, to be talking about it. There is sort of an unspoken rule about not mentioning it.
EDIT: Actually... the "he came home" bit gave me pause. Um, they're living together now? Did I miss something important? ;p
Time to catch up with other comments.. *reads*

Okay today was a great episode I just hated the fact that Don did not get any love. April and Casey huge Leo Raph and Mikey. DO THEY SAY WHERE DON IS NO THEY DON"T.
Do you rember when Leo was acting like Raph. I wish they made Don like that. They could have I mean he thinks because of him Master Spinter is gone and that is a great reason to act like Leo was when he feel like he could have killed his family because the fight with the shedder they got there shells and tail kick. I would love to see Don act like that.
3. Don finded Master Spilnter to earliy
Great episode though and I love the look. That all I have to say

Just watched the new ep, and I really liked it. Like the rest of you, Mike's antics really annoyed me too. And I thought it was kinda strange the turtles didn't contact Casey and April immediately when they got back from the future.
I wonder how Karai will fit into all of this: does she know of this Khan person or is she just to busy with other stuff to pay attention to this?
I have a new theory, although not indepth, about why we saw Tengu and Utrom Shredders.
They weren't real.
Maybe they were robots rebuilt to look like those Shredders.
I know that isn't Viral talking about being Ressurected. I can safely say that I gaurentee 95% that Cyber Shredder is Chrell, in some form or another.

I feel that this may change once they find out how to rescue him. There may be a little cloud of that floating around, but nothing as severe as Leo's frustration and anger at the beginning (and most of) season 4...
I could see it playing out that Don works even harder, now hopeful he can get Splinter back... and anytime they get further, Don slumps further into guilt and depression.

09-20-2008, 04:33 PM
I think Don's depression is a little more warranted than Leo's.
Two things to point out to various people who seem to have misunderstood something:
1. Master Khan IS "April's Landlord". That was just a joke description on Murphy's blog that was used as shorthand to refer to him in the fan community thereafter.
2. Schemmel did not voice Jammerhead. I thought he did at first, too, especially considering the DBZ parody in one episode, but TMNT4Kids confirmed it wasn't.

BTW, "April's landlord" really wasn't revealed in this episode. That was Casey's karate instructor. So I guess it's a mystery for another episode.

Haven't read through this thread, but here are my immediate thoughts after watching the episode on You Tube:
They seem to have recovered from the shock of losing Splinter a little too quickly, all save for Don. Don taking on all the guilt looks like an interesting character arc, though we already had an entire season of an emo Turtle (Leo in season 4), so I hope it doesn't last that long.
Khan suffers from the usual villain syndrome: he's invincle when they first meet him and then a pushover shortly afterward. Remember when Hun was an unstoppable threat and not an annoying doofus? Yeah.
They're heading right into the Cyber World arc at a much faster pace than I had expected, but with only 13 episodes in the season, I probably shouldn't be surprised.
One question I'm left with is what happened between Karai and the Foot after season 5? She seemed to have found peace, so maybe she disbanded the organization in the year the Turtles were gone? This episode makes it out to seem like the Foot have been disbanded and Khan is trying to rebuild.
A lot of questions and hopefully they'll all be answered.
I like how Casey has stepped up as a fighter, even if he still isn't on the same level as the Turtles. Looks like we'll never have to suffere through season 3 comedy relief Casey ever again. April's new "Winx Club" redesign is going to take a lot of getting used to. So far it's the only one I really, really dislike.
Anyhow, the show is pretty much back to basics. It seems to have regained something of its darker edge (April describing how Casey came home with somebody else's blood on him), which is most assuredly a good thing.

Oooh, you just reminded me of my gonzo theory!
I really shouldn't even atempt to make sense of the mess that was season 5, but one way the Demon Shredder could possibly come back is through Karai.
Remember when she "channeled his dark energy" because of some 'tarded "Shredder Connection"? Mabey he pulled the same junk on her after he was defeated, as he did the real Saki...

Thought this episode was a nice, I guess, continuation of last week's. Some parts did feel kinda cliche, but did I like the dark edge this episode tried to maintain as well as going back to basics, which I hope will benefit the show as a whole. The other changes -- such as Casey's taking a step up with his fighting -- felt welcome to me and not forced. Overall, my only other gripe was that the animation did look off at times, yet this episode was worth watching. The ending -- like last week's -- did feel somewhat like a cliffhanger and does have me excited for next week's.

If there is only one problem though still, the fight scenes seem a bit weak. I don't know if they weren't fighting much so not to harm the students like they mentioned, or if this is how they will fight every episode, but I hope the fight scenes get better.
I agree with this. I was not very impressed by this fight scene. That's one of the best things about the 2k3 series. At first the fight scenes sucked in that series then around "Shredder Strikes Back Part 2" it got awesome from there on out. I am hoping this will be the same.

I feel Mikey should be comic relief BUT should be responsible, like he was here. Though, I admit, I laughed for a whole 2 minutes after he puked and said "I didn't have corn!"
I agree completely on both counts. The corn comment was something one of my friends would have totally done. Although I dislike Serling I felt kinda bad for him cuz April looked all wierded out by him and Mikey was a bit harsh on him. Overall I really liked this ep. Bit of an odd ep. We went from the season 4 lair to them sprucing it up with all the new gadgets and gizmos and their new vehicle. A garbage truck that flies oh excuse me...hovers?. Where'd they get that? Same place Don got the moving van? Not one mention of Klunk! :ohwell:
Serling was being super creepy the way he was staring at April. I wish April and Casey's reactions to what the turtles did and who they met in the future was alot more than "Wow! Time travel huh?"
Khan as the new villian...meh...Seems tho that he's Shredder's right hand man now. No explination as to what happened to Shredder that he got stuck in cyber space himself.
Remember the season where Leo was all emo and blamed himself for every little thing?? Looks like it's Don's turn.
It was nice to see the ole full moon and pink skyscraper again tho... :P

The animation quality has been on par with, and in some moments worse than, what we saw in Fast Foward. Apart from the cheaper designs, Fast Foward never seemed less fluid than the '03 series, and really has some shining moments, yet I've already had this feeling a few times with Back to the Sewer. The triple Shredder fight from the first episode, for example, stood out as looking particularly clunky.
Now granted, animation fluctuates with each episode, and it's hard to judge having only seen two. But I don't see where people are getting the argument that this animation is any better than Fast Foward, other than that they prefer the style and need to reaffirm its superiority.

That Khan guy is quite the fighter. None of the turtles could take him down; but eventually they will surpass him. Why is when they first met a foe like Hun, Shedder, Karai, and Bishop, they get their butts kicked but later they're easy to beat. :ohwell:

ok my impression of this episode. I loved it! :D this had the feel of old 2k3 series. This episode seemed much more grounded than the last one, but I guess that's not hard since the last one involved time travel and and such. The plot was solid and kept me intersted all the way through and went about it's buisness in a pre-FF manner. I didn't think they where going to get into Kahn so soon but I like that he was the focus of this episode and he was really a bad ass. I think he's cooler than I thought he was going to be. I was a bit disapointed that he was outed as a enemy and threat to the turtles so quickly. I thought that he would have kept his villany a secret a while longer and wait to make a move on the turtles. I got really hyped when I saw that chase in the beginning with Kahn and that student, it made me think that he killed the guy, I wish they had kept us thinking that Kahn killed him instead of showing him in the middle of the episode in the dojo hypnotised.
i really like the humour in this episode, that thing with the garbage truck Raphael did to Mikey was funny. I love seeing Mikey freaking out, and him barfing at the end was funny for some reason. I think what really sold it to me was that "I never had corn" line at the end of him retching. It just so funny the way he said it, one moment he is gagging and the next he says almost calmly that he never ate any thing like that. It's funny because alot of times when I throw up I see stuff in my puke I don't remember eating. Has any one ever counted the amount of times Mikey has tossed his cookies in this show?
And whoo-hoo! Casey and April are back! :D I don't think I realized just how much I missed them until I saw them in the flesh (so to speak) again. And Casey looks awsome. April I'm going have to get used too, I think she looks to much like the title character from the winx club, but I think she is waaaaaaaay better looking without the pasty face ghost skin and blood red hair. I like her new skin tone and orangey red hair color. I like her eyes the best. :) But what I don't get is why April didn't jump into the fight with Casey when he started attacking the turtles when he first entered the lair. :-? April has had ninjitsu training from Splinter and she's competent now, normally I would expect her to jump in there instead of just hanging back. :ohwell:
my only WTF reaction to April and Casey is that I thought that their voice actors seemed a little rusty to me. April and Casey seemed a little off to me for some, it wasn't the visuals that weirded me out it was the voices. Maybe the voice actors are just out of practice at playing their parts since they haven't done it in like two years. Hopefully they'll get into their groove again in following episodes.
I agree with every one here that Mikey skate boarding around all gleefully was terriable. He looked happy like he didn't have a care in the world, and it made him out to be more insencetive and jerkish than he noramlly comes across. Not only was he not taking the Splinter situation seriously he wasn't even helping out with the move. This goofing around that Mikey does at serious situations is out of control, and it makes him hard to like at times. Looks like all the coolness Mikey showed in last weeks episoide isn't being carried over into this one. It's a shame.
I was a little surprised at Mikey's lack of mourning over Splinter's departure. But then it hit me that Mikey usually tries to deal with inner pain by trying to ignore it through distracting himself and putting on a jovial front.
WTF!? when are people going to realize that Mikey isn't doing all these things in an attempt at dealing with harsh issues? I doubt thats Mikey's motivation for skate boarding around the place is to distract him from feeling. I doubt the writers ever go that deeply with Mikey's actions and I think Mikey's actions when he's goofing off is exactly that, and it cartainly doesn't come across by the writing that he's doing anything deeper than that. Stop making excuses for him people.

First I'd like to start by *thwacking you over the head for all that*
1: Ok this is annoying me, see what I think people are missing is that it's not Shredder Ch'rell or who ever else you may want to think it is as a living creature. I'm more than sure it's just Ch'rells thoughts/ Mind sort of like a diary of his life. His living journal, he backed his memory up some how not his entire being.

hey, thats one way of looking at it. I was a little dissapointed when they showed the guy alive and well in dojo too, because I thought Kahn had killed him.
I don't get why every one is disdainful of the cliff hanger with Casey about to punce on Raph. I thought it was supposed to clear to the viewer that it was Casey and the cliff hanger was that he was actually about to harm Raph. Since you know the description of the episode is that he gets brain washed.
I agree with who ever said that April and Casey seemed a bit off in the voice department. I was a little weirded out by that as well, I think Marc and Veronica are just litte out of practice playing their respective parts, but I'm confident that they'll get back into the swing of things. God I missed April and Casey.
I'm actually a bit glad that Kahn and Cyber Shredder have a conection to each other, it makes thewhole cyber world conflict and real world conflict of having cyber world conflict go hand in hand now, because on side is manipulating the other, and it not all disconjointed.

any one can say what they want about the animation, I'm liking it so far. I love the turtles faces now, especially Donny here, he looks so cute!I like the style/designs, but the actual animation is a slight step down. Two completely different things.

This was when Leo went to Usagi's universe and they dressed themselves up as Neko Ninja.
But I could be completely off the mark and you may have seen something else.

So far, I'm happy with Season 7...not overly impressed with it, but so far it's better than Season 6 was so that's good enough for me.
I think the guys look cute with eyes now, they're more expressive which I think is nice.
I like April and Casey's redesigns (athough April does look a lot younger now), and agree that I thought April's voice acting was a little off at times (at first, I thought she had a new voice actress).
I like the robot, and thought his comment to April re: her having the same eyes as Cody was cute (he looked so sad when he said it:cry:).
Mikey has become more and more unlikeable to me over the last couple of seasons with his inappropriate comments and actions after something major or tragic happens to them (mainly regarding Splinter). First the burt fur comment back in the Season 4 premire (apparently he forgot that Splinter got that way saving HIS life!) and now the total childishness going into overdrive in this episode after Splinter takes a hit for them to save their lives.
All of the guys get character development, development that sticks...so why can't Mikey too? He keeps having to learn these lessons due to his immaturity...yet, he never really learns from them or grows as a character. It's just annoying to me...I want to see him finally grow up a little, and stick with it!
Don's development in this episode was great, I loved his angst and felt it was appropriate and handled well. Out of all the boys, he's the one who's gone through the most trauma and hardships over the course of this series. He's the most well-developed character if you ask me, and I think it's impressive that he hasn't totally snapped by now after all the junk he's gone through!
Nice to see Casey get some good development and grow up a little (something that the writers have been consistant with for him...unlike Mikey), and now he's on par with the boys and not in their shadows so much anymore.
Would have liked to see more of April, but I'm sure we will in time.
The new baddie (who I thought was going to be connected to the Purple Dragons at first due to his clothes and such) is interesting. It seems to me that the Foot must have disbanded in the year that the turtles have been gone (since they were still active under Karai's leadership at the end of Season 5...perhaps she disbanded it herself?).
I wonder when we'll be seeing Karai again (she's a favorite character of mine), or Bishop (another favorite)?
I think they found out Splinter was still alive a little too soon, might have worked better if it was revealed in next weeks ep instead. Oh well...
So far, not bad. I'll watch again next week, and hope that the writers keep it up!

Just watched it!
- Mikey was WAY too immature, childish, and clownish at the beginning.
- Donnie is suffering from what Leo suffered.
- But at least he got a good end result in this episode.
- Don't like April's new design.
- Love the fact that they have pupils. Shows many more eye expressions.
Is this season going to be Donnie or Mikey focused? Because I miss the Leo focus of the first 5.

I recently watched this one as well as the previous one, cause I didn't realize they were already airing new episodes.
I like this one as well as the previous episode. The story with the Turtles back in their time period is good so far.
The turtles with pupils in their eyes didn't take too long to get use to. Course at first it was like watching the CGI Turtles in 2-D form. But it wasn't bad for a small change in character designs.
Casey's the same and April looked half different than before. But her new character design was a good change in a way.
I'll look forward to seeing the later episodes of this season. Specially from the looks of the opening we'll be expecting a Tron like adventure inside the web.

That is just hilarious man. Anyway my thoughts on the episode are pretty much the same as the rest as you guys. Though I didn't really see why everyone was saying Mikey was 'unbearable' in the beginning of the episode. It's not like he was insulting Splinter or anyone else, just enjoying being back in the 21st century though...it was surprising that he was so happy about it. Master Kahn was a little meh as far as villans go but, I'm hopeful that he'll get better and we'll find out why he hates the turtles. Also the scene with Splinter in a box...can anyone else say "TRAP"! Either that or "Hey there's the budget money." :P (Just kidding :dead:) All in all it was a nice episode not perfect but not bad either.

About Mike: I don't have a problem with him constantly goofing off, but... it just. aint. funny. They try waaay to hard with his jokes and he constantly pukes (the corn comment was really funny tho). I know people like to say he's annoying on purpose but his humor is soooo weak most of the time.
I guess our problem is were all adults (17 at the youngest, I think) watching a show made for kids (4kids), and kids actually do think his **** is funny.

Enjoyable episode. While the lower-quality animation is obvious--the action scenes have an unsatisfying amount of impact--the improved writing makes up for it.
Random thoughts:
So the "new" lair is the old lair. They just about get away with it, given that we never saw all that much of that particular lair. Still, it's nice to see that they won't be moving yet again. On a related note, does anyone find the passage of time between episodes confusing? They have time to completely overhaul the lair, but not enough time to visit April and Casey? Weird.
I really like the idea of Casey taking up martial arts while the turtles are gone; it really does make perfect sense. While it sort of dilutes what makes his character special--he's suppose to be the non-ninja fighter, I do hope don't forget this aspect of the character.
So far, the season seems to be unfolding as a mystery. Last episode we had three Shredders, two Foot armies, one Master Khan, and no idea of who worked for who. This episode we learn that the Foot has apparently dissolved, or else drastically dwindled in strengh. It's a bit that's surprising, yet not: the Demon Shredder had, after all, did hand the Foot its collective ass on a stick; plus, with the Purple Dragons as a rival on equal footing, it makes sense that a restoration wouldn't go unchallenged. And yet, those events wouldn't seem to answer everything. In any case, they've got my interest.
The turtle's ease at telling their nakama about the future seems to be yet another piece of evidence showing that the creators are working with Gargoyles'--"can't change the future"--time travel rules. I really hope its intentional. The whole three-Shredder teaser last episode sort of demands it, in order to be effective. And, yet, that would mean that the other two Shredders (seem to) return, and that the turtles are once again missing. I'm conflicted.
I was quite surprised to hear April mention blood in the context of violence, given its total abscence from battle scenes. I hope that sort of surprise continues.
Okay, they are totally reusing that shot of Manhattan from the first art style, and its totally jarring. This is starting to feel like the last few episodes of Evangelion.
A minor surprise: April and Casey still apparently live in different appartments. While I wasn't expecting an actual mention that they'd moved in together, I was hoping that the writers would drop hints to that effect. In any case, it's somewhat odd: given their stage in the relationship and their respective economic situations, it seems a bit illogical to have to care for two different places.
While the turtles somewhat cavalier attitude regarding Splinter is a bit jarring, I find it to be not entirely without precedent--the turtles have consistently shown to possess a zen-like peace of mind regarding traumatic events. Exhibit A: 2105. I did, however, think that their concern for Donny was perfectly in character, given their past experiences with Angst!Leo.

I'm figuring this season will be a Donnie oriented one. A lot of people complained about the show being TOO much about Leo, and I think this is a good first step to share the view around All the brothers..
My thoughts of the episode have been echoed over and over in this thread. Mikey was beyond irritating in this episode (and he's my favorite turtle). I think Terran631 at the very beginning of the thread summed things up perfectly for me.

That line made me chuckle, "footing" tehe. There is one thing that may go against that theory is that there was no representation of the Purple Dragons in that massive battle scene from episode 1...and maybe 13. :P That would have been great, not just 3 Shredders, not just Kahn, but also Hun and his Dragons. :o

WTF!? when are people going to realize that Mikey isn't doing all these things in an attempt at dealing with harsh issues? I doubt thats Mikey's motivation for skate boarding around the place is to distract him from feeling. I doubt the writers ever go that deeply with Mikey's actions and I think Mikey's actions when he's goofing off is exactly that, and it cartainly doesn't come across by the writing that he's doing anything deeper than that. Stop making excuses for him people.
I'll try real hard to wise up, JB. :D Really, I blame the writers, not Mikey's psychological complex. Case in point: "What a Croc!" where the Turtles intially react in horror as Leatherhead apparently sacrifices himself so that they might escape the cave-in only to change the subject and walk away joking approximately 7 seconds later. Now that's good drama right there. Pathos layered upon pathos...
Really though, the writers do a great job for a Saturday morning cartoon, all things considered.

Just finished watching it. It was okay. Maybe it was because I watched it on Youtube but their voices annoyed the hell out of me. They all talked like the toddler turtles. It could also be because I just got back from a concert but please tell me that isn't what they actually sound like.
I like this new villain he seems interesting. I need to see where this is all going before I decide if I like it or not. So far it's doing well to keep me engaged because I want to know what happens next. I thought the turtle van scene was a toy ad, or at least I'd normally have if they had toys for the series out. Honestly lost potential, Playmates should rename their company that.
I hope that if this series does end, the blame isn't placed on us.
Playmates has yet to show a single toy from BttS. So if toys really do keep a show on the air, then they need to get them suckers out, so I can support this show some more.
If they don't release toys based on BttS, then it's not our fault, and the show should go on, so long as it's drawing viewers in.
I reckon if last season did very well in the ratings, those people must be watching this. I would really like to know how these first two episodes did ratings wise.

I really enjoyed this episode. I agree that Mikey was a little too over the top, but I do feel that this is his way of grieving. I just think that he doesn't want to think the worst like the others do, so he hides his pain by goofing off. I loved seeing Casey and April again, and their designs aren't too bad. I thought the voices were a little off, too, but I hope that will be rectified later on. Serling's comment about Cody's eyes was very sentimental, and April's reaction to it was something I'd definitely expect.
Khan is a good villain and has some good potential for this show. I can't wait to see what else he does in this series.
I thought the fight scenes were okay, but I think they could've been better. Splinter being found seemed rushed to me, too, and I do suspect that it's a trap. We'll have to wait and see.
While it's nice to see Don feel remorse for Splinter, I hope he doesn't do this all season. That would be annoying.
Overall, I loved this ep. 10/10 for me.

Decent episode. I'm still getting used to the animation. Khan has potential. I have a feeling he is an Elite because of the music and the way he just appeared. I'm sure the turtles will fair better against him next time. Like someone said before, he's tough in the beginning (like Hun and Bishop and even the Shredder) but then later he becomes easier. Mikey's antics were overboard at the begiinning because he kept destroying things instead of just boarding. His proactiveness and ingenuity in defeating Khan and taking down the building. Don's grumpiness is going to get on my nerves if this lasts much longer. I don't need another season 4. The lair got mentioned a bit, I think this is the old pumping station, I don't know why there is an confusion on the lair. The fighting was alright. I like how they were able to take the students down doing next to nothing. I hope the action does get better though and it's not always like that. Last point, I think it was funny how they didn't want to hurt Casey or the other students first, but then they were like "oh ok, if we have to throw him in to the gong, I guess we can"

this is shaping up to be a great season, I'm already loving the tone and direction of the episodes. Donatello made me want to give him a huge hug, I have always liked Donatello but as a character I always found him kind of bland. But his drive and determination is really reminding me of all of Don's passionate characteristics that I've forgotten he's had. He's so mellow that I forgot that he does get like this at time. He personaly took it upon himself to cure Quarry and all the other victims and worked himself ragged trying to figure out how to do it, and he was in turmoil over their predictament. And these where complete strangers to him, I can only imagine what he's feeling with the loss of Splinter. I was slightly annoyed with the guys, yes they where sad and concerned about Splinter and supportive of Don but I felt that none of them really where taking into consideration Don's predictament. He was the one that anticipated the destruction of Splinter and was helpless to stop it, the others where just taken by surpise by it. I've develeped alot of respect for Don in these last two episodes.
I know they aren't going to forget FF and that's good, but I hope that don't forget the pre-fast forward seasons eighther. The pain Don is going through about being helpless to keep Splinter from getting hurt when he felt he should have anticipated a situation like this one is some what similar to Leo's angst in season four. I sure hope if Don keeps up with his "I'm to blame" angst that Leo takes him aside and they relate with each other because he went through the same, and just have a nod to what Leo went through in season four.
My eye brows went up when I heard April mention that Casey had been coming home with some one elses blood on him. I wonder just what the hell Kahn was having him and the other students doing while he was mind controled? Was he having them go out and committing crimes of brutal beatings on random innocent people? Was he useing them as his own assasins to get rid people he felt where "in the way", or was the blood on Casey's body the result of super brutal sparring sessions with the other students? What ever the case I wonder if the times he couldn't remember having blood on him ment he was killing people and it will come back to bite him later on with the police. :o Also was Casey supposed to be the top student of the school? Or was he just getting special treatment because he knew the turtles moves? The turtles took out the other students easily but they had a tougher time with Casey. :-?
Another thing I kind of thought the turtles where going to come home to find the present in chaos with the bad guys have a free for all with the turtles around and Casey and April would be trying their best to keep things under control since they disapeared? Everything seems pretty calm in the city so far, with the exception of Kahn. IS the "chaos" we where promised for this season going to be more under ground crime than out in the open?
And now on to Mikey..., he's my only gripe about this episode. I'm starting to wish that Mikey had been the one that had been scattered all over the net instead of Splinter just so we don't have to see any more of his digustingly inappropiate antics. I've never disliked a Michelangelo more than I have in this version of him. He's completely useless, hem him off my screen! Why does his brothers even put up with him? I was waiting the entire time he was bouncing off the walls for one of them to tell him off or beat the **** out of him. Because it's beyond sickening that he acts like nothing concerns him, Mikey acts like a spoiled child thinking that every one around him is going to take care of everything that goes wrong and fix everything for him so he doesn't have to worry. He's so used to this that when bad things happen he doesn't even act like it concerns him. Then he pissed me off with his treatment of Serling "oh look I'm helping. Serling, put this here-nope over here" STFU Mikey, gosh it baffels me that he is never called on his behavior other than a dirty look or an eye roll. Wow, just wow! I seriously felt it yesterday while watching this episode, something I haven't felt since FF, it felt like 2K3 again.:D
The only 'It's ninja time!' is the theme song which was there since it was choosen. I just realized I didn't say anything about the theme, truthfully I love it, but the still pictures aren't my favorite one or two wouldn've been fine. It's a little confusing why they added 2 small 2k3 clips to the new theme unless it way of telling the Turtles are back to the old ways.
The Turtles are still living in the same place under the tourist attraction the Belvedere castle.
Mikey in this episode made me grit my teeth, he was doing more playing then working this includes destroying stuff Donnie already fixed. But yeah, I got vibe he's happy he home. Mikey was the only one that picked on Serling who was being polite although you could hear it in his voice he was getting annoyed with the Turtle in orange's little game.
Poor Don he was very hard on himself. I think he watched that video feed over on purpose to punish himself for his 'careless mistake'. He was a little cold and distant in the episode refusing to accept the accident wasn't his fault. Don was mostly working at one point he got very frustrated with everyone chatting, then snapped at them that he would feel better if he had quiet and was trying to work. It tells me when April said near the end he hasn't ate anything or slept, it had me thinking it's been a few days since they retuned and Don is hard at work trying his hardest to find their missing Sensei. :(
Casey's and April reunion with the Turtles was great, although Don didn't join in, he was seen later sitting on the couch with his brothers announcing it's his fault again, after the Turtles told April and Casey their trip from the future probably leaving out some details.
So everything from 2K3, Ninja Tribunal, FF are continuation. Making this Season 8, since Season 7 was mentioned of being shelved,I'm hoping one day these shelved episodes will see the light of day with 'Nightmares Recycled'.
Where is Klunk?? I didn't see him once in this episode.
I knew Master Khan would be the guy from the not-so distant future.
That part when Casey gets hypnotized was weird. That card has been played one too many times by the old toon series and other cartoons. :P
I thought the part Mikey hurled then said "I didn't have corn." was gross, really I was finishing my breakfast, I don't need a painted picture of a puddle of puke with corn in it or whatever it was.
Hm... that makes me wonder if one Turtles will get hypnotized by the gong? Does anyone remember that mystery Turtle in Foot uniform that was shown way way back in the first TMNT blog as a sneak peek?
The new Hauler is a very advanced garbage truck? Weird.
That was neat the Turtles were avoiding a fight by moving out the way the Khan's hypnotized students. But when the Turtles did fight it felt a little on the weak side, but other wise fine.
Whoa, Splinter is in cyber type of cube, then ends with me wondering what's going to happen now? Everyone is gapping at the screen shock. Will Don be himself or will he still carry the guilt until they get Splinter back?
The ending of the episode with the cyber Shredder really got me thinking about the Utrom Shredder, is he back in a new form or is this just Viral acting like Shredder? Although, I'm quite unsure if this is either, I need to see more episodes to see who it is. And that Khan guy moves a lot like an Elite Guard, is he one?
Overall it was very decent episode, I really like it, and now I'm over the eyes issue it turns out they blink normally.
This is what I missed in FF a good story, and character development. TMNT: BTTS is showing both. Also a familar writer is back!:D
Um... I'm not sure who said Playmates hasn't came out with a single toy from BTTS this is in fact false, there are new Action Figures out now called "Sub Sewer" I noticed the Mikey one looks exactly like the screen shot seen on another thread with that drilling gun thing. The only difference is it's in movie TMNT style but I aready saw a monster character on the BTTS theme which is this naked mole rat monster Um...according to this, he's called Metal Klaws another monster is by him it's a ugly spider thing with bat wings it's called Spider Bytes. "Sub Sewer" all the Turtles look like their going for a swim or something, the way they are dress this includes them wearing long gloves, suits that look for swimming except Raph's, they're all wearing different helmets Leo and Don's are scubba helmets, Mikey has a gas mask and Raph has a one of those hats they use in the caves they all have weapons and tools.
Mikey was developed pretty well by the time season 5 ended.
Once season 6 started, Mikeys character just went to ape crap.
It is like all he is there for is comic relief. I mean during seasons 1-5, we saw him be funny at times, but in SAINW, we saw Mikey in a way no one is used to seeing him.
I miss the mature, but sometimes fun Mikey, instead of this hokey turtle who shows no character.
I know it is a cartoon and all, but this is forgetting about heritage. There wasn't even some sort of event that turned Mikey back into the goofball he was in the first couple of seasons. It is almost as if he forgot all his teachings.
Small complaint, but I do agree with everyone. Back to the Sewer feels very much like seasons 1-5 again, but it just needs some beefier fight scenes, and less Mikey humor. OH AND 26 EPISODES!!! :D

Serling should have just dropped the thing on him.
Well, Raphael did nock him off his skate board and admonished him for not helping out when he was fooling around, so it's not like he went completely scott free. And I don't know why no one reprimands Mikey for his behavior or does more than just yell at him. But what would they do toss him out of the lair?
Totally agree with you, and I'm normally a huge Mikey fan (He's my favorite turtle in the Mirage Universe, the Archie Universe, and both of the Movie universes...but my love for him in 2k3 is quickly dying..).
He is an ass, and he's NOT funny. He's not cute, he's not adorable, he's not sympathetic, he's just an annoying irresponsible jerk now :x!
I mean, it's gotten to a point where I can't even make excuses for his actions anymore...
I agree with this. I'm a huge Michaelangelo fan, and I loved mikey in the beginning just because he was Michaelangelo. I've never been blind to his flaws before but I always felt there was more to his behavior than what was on the serface and I would defend him when he acted out. But as of recently I've become pretty disallusioned about this version of Michaelangelo and I'm finding my self not liking him very much. Or rather how he's being written. Mikey isn't written as being very sympathatic and I wonder on what the hell the writers are doing to him. The writers are often inconsistent with his character and often go against even his established characteristics just to make a cheap laugh. ) One episode they will establish that Mikey is a good fighter who can channel his chi better than any one else, than in the very next they will make him a serious screw up who can't even carry out a simple task for with out goofing up all for the sake of humour. All in all I'm finding it very hard to excuse his behavior.
You know I've been thinking about how we all seem to notice and be getting ticked about how moronic and annoying Mikey has been acting.
I'm starting to wonder if this isn't being done on purpose to forshadow something that will stop him from acting like a screaming ape in a later episode.
I would love for something like that to happen just to give Mikey some serious story telling and some character development. Maybe the the turtle dressed as foot ninja with Leo swords is a red herring and it's Mikey that turns traiter rather Leo. But I seriously doubt it, thing is Mikey has had serious thing happen to him that shocks him but it never sticks. I think Mikey's behavior is just the status quo with the wrting of Mikey.

Ok, just some thoughts...
I really don't like April's new look. At all. I'm not sure I want to get used to this.
I'm not sure they should have told them... things about the future. Doesn't that have some sort of effect on what happens, now?
Leo sure looked happy about Casey's training, hehe. And speaking of him... I've never been so happy to be back in the present and see that ol' lug. I actually smiled when he came on the screen.
April looked appropriately creeped out by the 'Cody's eyes' comment, heh.
'The other night he came home...'? Do April and Casey live together?
Oh yes, that car is not conspicuous at all...
Ahh, April's so happy they're back so they can do things for her. Hehe. I know, I know, but it's just how it came out.
Oh, and I bet April can make Don smile...
Mikey, ewwwwwwwww. Seriously. They need to do without that kinda stuff. It adds nothing.
...Well, the youtube video I was watching cut off rather early, so I'll have to find another one at some point. Not a bad episode, though. I still don't see the over-emotion going on. Don's mad but, yeah. Who wouldn't be?

The turtles have gone through a lot of vehicle changes these past seasons. Garbarge Truck ain't too perfect for a set of wheels, but I prefer one of the previous choices for driving on the road.
Also can't wait to see Karai again, since it seems like eons since the Turtles last saw her.

I'm sure you're the only one.
However, if that were the case, where's Mr. Touch? Did Mr. Go make Mr. Touch go after finding Mr. Touch touching something he should touch? I'll you read whatever you want into that statement, but I'm talking about fatty foods...wait, think that makes it worse.

Ignoring your insanity... I meant not that he was Mr. Go, but related. My theory even a few months ago, was that Mr. Touch and Mr. Go are half-brothers and Khan (then known as "April's landlord" and "the new guy"), was their father.

Just finished watching it. It was okay. Maybe it was because I watched it on Youtube but their voices annoyed the hell out of me. They all talked like the toddler turtles. It could also be because I just got back from a concert but please tell me that isn't what they actually sound like.
um, wow! :o I think you need to adjust the sound on your computer because the turtles did not sound anything like their toddler voices. :|
i really like the humour in this episode, that thing with the garbage truck Raphael did to Mikey was funny.
I liked the exchanges between Raph and Mikey in this episode too. Hopefully we'll get back to the the realtionships the turtles shared in the earlier season. Raph clowning on Mikey like that was priceless to me, I've always been a sucker for the Raph and Mikey relationship. :D In FF I felt like they didn't like each other very much. :-? Though how the hell did Mikey end up upside down in his chair but leo who appeared to not even been seated managed to stay upright? :blanksta: That corn line was probably the best scene from Mikey in this episode. Wayne Grayson really made it work. :anime:
The thing about the future, did the turtles really tell them everything about Cody being their great grandson and or O'neil tech, or did they just leave the part about Cody being related to them out completely? April's reaction to Serling telling she had Cody's eyes indicated to me she had no idea what Serling was going on about and was freaked out by it. :ohwell:
oh and one more thing!

which one was Mr. Go?
'The other night he came home...'? Do April and Casey live together?
good question. Her comment really seems to indicate that they are. And in Insane in the Membrane right before April is captured you see April and Casey sitting on her couch late at night watching television together, noramlly that's the sort of thing couples do when they live together rather than when they have their own places. Maybe they where living together even at that point. I wonder if they are living in sin now like they where in the cgi movie. I wonder if the show wil actually illistrate them being in the same apartment, or will they just gloss that over to protect the kiddies. Any way, aren't Casey and April supposed to be engaged at this point?

Yes. The proposal was supposed to be in the deleted Garbageman ep.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I think the episode actually implied the opposite with Casey's mention of "my" place--not the usual word one uses if you're cohabiting with anyone. He was most defintively not cohabiting with April by Insane in the Membrane, since he had to show up at her door for their date in Adventures in Turtle-Sitting several episodes later. I think the most we can assume, if anything, is that while Casey still has his own appartment, he spends a considerable amount of time at April's.

does any one have the transcript of Nightmares Recycled with Casey proposing to April?
My eye brows went up when I heard April mention that Casey had been coming home with some one elses blood on him. I wonder just what the hell Kahn was having him and the other students doing while he was mind controled? Was he having them go out and committing crimes of brutal beatings on random innocent people? Was he useing them as his own assasins to get rid people he felt where "in the way", or was the blood on Casey's body the result of super brutal sparring sessions with the other students? What ever the case I wonder if the times he couldn't remember having blood on him ment he was killing people and it will come back to bite him later on with the police. Also was Casey supposed to be the top student of the school? Or was he just getting special treatment because he knew the turtles moves? The turtles took out the other students easily but they had a tougher time with Casey.
I really don't know what Kahn was having his students doing when he had them under his control, with the exception of Casey none of his students seemed all that powerful to take out experienced fighters like the turtles, so I doubt they where his personal assassins. But the very fact that Casey and possiably the others had blood on them every time they went to school suggests "something" brutal was happening. It's all pretty chilling Casey coming home with blood on him and he doesn't even remember what he did. :o that just raises more questions.
a little note about the animation this season, I'm happy that the characters themselves aren't as pointy and angular as we where led to believe they where going to be. The actual animation and character designs are alot rounder and smoother than we thought they where going to be. Look at this comparison pic between the actual animation and the stills we where shown in the blog a few month ago of the turtles.

ok, explain this to me why does every one keep assuming that the turtles in the foot tech gear is a traiter? I've been seeing alot of this lately and I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing something. Was ever hinted at or revealed that one of the turtles was going to go traiter in this season?

No, it's pure speculation. We're allowed to do it. It's a new series. It could be a traitOr or it could be a disguise or a double agent or anything. It could be a new turtle for all we know.
It might even be Santa. :P Let's hope not though. ^_^

They actually might have had some sort of ceremony in his honor. I'm guessing it's just not their beliefs to have an open-invitation. Something like a respectable candle-light vigil seems appropriate to me... if they were certain enough that he was gone for good.

Not necessarily. Don knows Viral used the decompiler on Splinter. Viral was able to reassemble after being decompiled. So that's probably why he went straight to the computer (after walking off in the first episode of course). He probably assumed/hoped that he could recompile Splinter.

I've always liked Serling. I enjoy his long-suffering humor next to the Turtles' energy... but not sure of his status as a regular character would benefit in the new season, other than the fact telling the audience FF is canon. I guess time will tell.
Casey! April! <3 Missed them. Thank goodness. I also agree that I am a bit surprised the guys readily told them about the future.
Master Khan... uhm... well, he's no Bishop but I guess how good a challenge he is to the heroes is still up in the air. I think he needs more screentime.
I love their hi-tech "family truckster". It's much better than that other truck in the past. The taxi one in the Lost Season is just... ugh... so yeah, I'm happy with their new mode of transportation. Hope Raph gets a bike again.
Donnie angst is... understandable. I do hope it won't drag out like the series did with Leo's. It's not pleasant to watch in the long run.
