Greetings one and all...!

It's been a couple years, but we've finally got some new shows to enjoy starring our favorite mutants! Let the Teasers Begin!!!

The beginning of this season has proven to be a bitter pill for some to swallow, while others have embraced the show and new plotlines...

We've seen the new Viral Shredder worm her way through our present day internet. We've seen our Mechanical Mr. Belvedere get sucked into the present with the Turtles and Splinter. Donatello's struggle to stop Viral resulting in the fragmentation of our favorite furry father. And many have resisted the collective urge to smack Mike upside his head for how he was last week. (But let's not get into that debate again...)

But at the end of last week's episode, We saw a glimmer of hope. Or maybe a pixel... through Donatello's frantic setup of technology (and enough electrical equipment to dim the entire eastern seaboard), the spinning CGI (Computer Ghost Image?) of our beloved Master Splinter made a desperate plea to his sons for his rescue.

Which brings us to this week!! Let us first turn to the sagely description provided by our higher powers (who actually get Paid for this stuff!)

"The turtles journey into cyberspace to save as much of Master Splinter as they can find."

Obviously... not your most elaborate description. Like, Not at All.

So they try to gather up their father's digi-bits before his bytes get overwritten by some 20-something that's downloading porn while living in his parents' basement.

What great technological wonders will Donatello whip out for this week?
- A fishnet
- A souped-up dust buster with a memory stick in the handle?
- Perhaps a Dyson vacuum with a REALLY fine Hepa filter? (Dealing with that fur's gonna be a disaster..)
- Or even a Ghostbuster style backpack with all sorts of plasma shooting amplifying thingamajiggers?

Who knows. Heck, Don could plug Splinter's info into Serling's body and put a lil screen on his chest for us to see Splinter's face on a screen. The question being: Where do you plug it in, and where does Splinter get shot out?

Talk about Awkward..

*starts to sing "Deep Inside of You..."*

Anyways... after a week of debate, it all comes down to those important questions:
WILL THEY BE ABLE TO LOCATE THEIR FATHER'S GHOST IN CYBERSPACE?!
WILL DONATELLO BE ABLE TO PUSH ASIDE HIS GUILT AND USE THIS TIME TO SHINE?!
HOW IS MASTER KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN GOING TO FACTOR INTO THIS?!
WHY ARE YOU USING ALL CAPS AGAIN, DAMMIT?!

You know what to do... ;)

STAY TUNED!!!!!!

((To ANY Moderator who will be around Saturday Morning... Please Please Please open this for me. I will not be here to open it myself... Thank you in advance!!!))

The intro wasn't as good as last weeks, and this episode seems a bit more childish than others but perhaps I'm the only one seeing this.
Can't honestly say I care for the cyber world stuff so far, I don't think that they will take it to it's fullest potential.
I do like how the turtles look in the cyber world though with the black skin and circuit lines on their bodies.
I think i enjoy how they look more before the got the cybernaught outfits, but I'm fine with it all the same.
I enjoy the back story of how Ch'rell's thoughts got saved on the Foots systems.
And I'd also like to point out that he said He took over Viral's body so it's pretty much still her but she's just possessed by this being.
I'm also guessing the last time they saved his minds thoughts was the time they cloned his body as he didn't know about all the stuff that happened on the rocket and being stuck on the asteroid.
Did anyone else roll their eyes or grumble at the racing part? That seriously had me going ugh, I also didn't expect Leo to join in I'd expect him go guys come on even before Don did.
That huge blast Cyber Shredder did while Donatello was saving Splinters parts was amazing!
I seriously didn't expect such a blast, it's like he's got Viral's powers now plus his own.
I seriously have to say I'm very tired of Mikey being the butt of every joke, let something dumb happen to another turtles already, like oh maybe Leo.
I thought this episode was pretty ok not the best but not the worst, I'm impressed by Cyber Shredder so far and I'm interested enough in it all to keep watching.
I just sort of felt this episode to be a bit of a waste as I felt more should have been going on, I think I'm afraid that they are going to rush things with so few episodes left.
This episode also felt even more Fast Forward than Fast Forward did to me lol
And this brings me to my major gripe, this 13 episode season is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to short for all of the things going on.

Great episode! While I like the turtles in the real world better, the cyber world wasn't too bad. I hope in the future that Cyber Shredder will turn an area of the internet into a Foot HQ and create some Cyber Foot Ninja.

So, the 'mystery' behind Cyber Shredder is finally revelaed. He's a cyber clone of utrom Shredder!:D

I've loved this series so far, but didn't really care for this episode! I only caught the second half of the episode, but the entire second half was basically a fight with the Shredder. And it wasn't even a very cool fight. I'm not feeling their "cyber-powers". It seems very gimmicky to me. I hope they stay in the real world more throughout the rest of the episodes. It seems like Shredder may try to come into the real world.

Still, I'll have to check out the first half of this episode later.

I thought it was cool when Shredder made his arm appear out of the floor. as well as when Leo cut Shredder in half.

Do I even need spoiler tags here?

I really couldn't stand this episode. Leo barely had any lines and wasn't much of a leader. He just stood there while Don was ranting.

Also, if Karai did help the Utom Shreeder...er..clone himself in the virtual world, why the hell didn't she try to resurrect him a few years ago?? What the (*&() are the writters thinking???

Hmmm.... good point. That's a major flaw in the story.:ohwell:

Not a bad episode. I liked it better than last week. The Cyber Clone Shredder is pretty good, but it kind of makes me . I'd like him a lot more if not for many incarnations of Shredder. Seriously, the dude is like a circus act.
Come one Come ALL. See the many faces of the SHREDDER!
He is an Utrom, He's his daughter, He's a Demon, He's a cloned-viral cyber thingy!
Don't miss the NEXT Shredder who is made from the nightmares of little kids and attacks them in their Dreams!

Mike didn't get on my nerves as much. But I can say that the racing thing annoyed me.

Don: Ok, we're here to rescue Splinter.
Leo, Mike, Raph: Ohhh! NASCAR TIME! Splinter? Splinter who? We've got CARS to play with! You go get'em Don. We'll see you when we're done playing.

The battle with Cyber Shredder was good. BIG explosions. lotsa Lightning and I counted about four or five Mikey girly screams. Seriously, hasn't he hit puberty yet? Voice change and all that? The whole Cyber world tho seems a BIG Matrix knock-off. I'm just waiting for Mike to say "There is no spoon." Or for RAph to say "we need guns. Lot of guns."

Ohh look! We got SPlinter's FEET! When they found him last week, I had hopes that it wasn't going to be 13 episodes of jigsaw-sensei. Hopes were dashed. It'll be 13 episodes of piecing him together. OR rather maybe 6 episodes of piecing him together and the remaining 7 will be "Don searches while the others go about doing their own thing."

The best thing about this story line has been Don. He's not angsting like season 4 Leo, but he is very narrowly focused on getting Splinter back. And this focus is leading him to be a be a bit reckless. Reckless Don has awesome potential.

Maybe she did try, and failed? Who knows...or maybe she has ADD and had too much on her mind at the moment to even think about the cloned guy. Maybe when she sees him now she'll smack her forehead and say "Stupid! stupid! stupid!"

Or, maybe there's a reason she didn't resurrect him? Perhaps she liked being in charge for a change.

"Think like a Cybernought"

If they never say that again, I will be a happy man.

Otherwise, pretty good episode. With all the new gear, I would say this episode was a 30 min. commercial. However, with no toys as of yet, this seems like wasted time that could be used for, you know, good stuff. I do like the new gear, though. Cool weapons. I could watch Leo draw his swords again and again. I also like the Light Cycle-ish tail on Raph when he does a jump kick. The account program made me laguh as I'm currently taking an accounting class and was using a online program last night.

I agree with VaughnMichael, 13 episodes just ain't long enough. I think this is the core reason why some don't like Season 5. It ain't long enough to let everything settle in.

You should see the first half, it was pretty entertaining for a set-up episode.

I love the more focus on Don this season, its about time. Otherwise yeah, it was a fairly standard episode that was entertaining but nothing too amazing.

Cyberspace was ok to visit one time, but I hope we don't spend that many more eps here. :)

this was a decent episode, even though it was in cyber space I thought that the action in it was an improvemnt over all from last weeks episode. I'm liking Donatello's determination and near susicidal lengths to get Splinter back no matter what. He said father at least three times in this one episode. And you can tell that that he hasn't gotten much sleep since he's looks pretty weary and he was rubbing his eyes alot, I laughed when he went up to Leo and tried to wake him up and Leo let out a this comical yelp of suprise. LOL  Don seemed abit more grounded in this episode, but you can still tell that guilt is eating him alive, but now that he has something to work toward to get Splinter back he's more focused on that than torturing him self and being down.

But he seems to have lost some of his discretion, in his zeal to get in there and get Splinter back I feel that he is not considering every thing, sure he seemed like he thought of every thing with the wrist thingies and vehicles and weapons and armor and fire wall escape place, but I wonder if he's not being too ruthless. He's so driven on capturing Splinter that I don't think he's really reacting properly to the dangers to his brothers. He seemed a bit too blase about Mikey almost getting decompiled himself. I know that Don wants to get Splinter back at all costs but one of your brothers almost suffered his same fate, and instead of regrouping he wanted to jump right back in there. :o I understand where Don is coming from but don't foget about every thing.

Did any one notice that Mikey seemed to be in constant danger in this episode? To being nearly being decompiled by Shredder to being badly nocked out during the last few minutes of their fight? And he seemed to the one stuggling the most during the fights in this one. :ohwell:

And I actually did like the weapons and and gear the turtles where sporting in this episode, although I'm not sold on the color coordination of each turtle. I know there done so you can tell them apart, but I think their suits would have looked cooler with out the gaudy coloring. And how can I forget Cyber Shredder, it seems it is actually him, or at least a down loading version of him. So it would appear he has complete control and Viral's essence is no more. I liked his explainion on how he had a vault of his memories and and personality in the internet and the small cameo of Che'rell and Karai in her 2k3 form. But did any one notice that one shot was of Karai in her 2k3 form and one was a breif side shot of her in her BTTS design? In any case I'm glad he is back and his design is really cool. I think the fighting in the cyber world is going to be interesting, since the normal laws of physics don't apply and they can meld with their surrounding to fight. That was a nice touch, and there was some good creativity with the fighting, I really liked when Shredder shot his arm into the ground and it came up infront of Raph and grabbed his throat.

Points go to Raph for figuring out the way to fight in the most sufficent way in cyber world. I thought for sure it was going to be Leo but he seemed to take a slight back seat in this episode. Some of the scenes during the fights kind of reminded me of the 5th season when they had their chi powers. Don really stole the show in this episode and he seems to be acting more the leader right now. I do like that he seems less snappy with his brothers and some of their old rapport has returned; so it's all good. And for all the fans bitching about how the turtles have pupils and how anime like they look now, I hope seeing them in cyber space with out the pupils satisfy's you. This is a new take on the series being in cyber world, but I think plot and drama is still there and the character developement for Don just sweetens it all the more. I hope every will give the cyber episodes a chance before bashing it because it seems to much like FF. For all the flashy gimmicks in this episode, it was pretty solid. I enjoyed it.

I liked the episode personally... Still feels more like seasons 1-5 then season 6.

I knew that Cyber Shredder would be Chrell in some form.

The fight scene was much more elaborate, and now we just need some good fight scenes outside of cyberspace.

Good episode, but I don't want to see them in Cyberspace more then the real world, facing issues.

The way the show is going and presenting itself, it would be a godsend to get 26 episodes next season.

Where's the love 4Kids?

Hmmm.... good point. That's a major flaw in the story.:ohwell:

As a writer I can say that every major flaw in a story can be covered up.

Who's to say the writers don't read this forum, and write in a scene to explain it, thanks to you mentioning it, only to come and say we had that idea all along?

You know I once met a guy who sued Fox for using the idea of a man trying to track down a toy for his son, and getting into a competition with a Mailman? He got a lot of money, but in Hollywood, everything can be copied and misconstrued for personal gain.

Not saying that is the case, but what I am saying is, writers are always prepared for any moment they may slip up, unless it's too late.

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman wrote in Shia Leboufs hand injury into the new Transformers movie. It was that easy.

If there isn't an explanation by the end of this season as to why she was so mad when he had copies, then they weren't prepared. I assume they will be however.

Come on now... we knew there was bound to be an episode like this in the first 4 episodes of the new season. I agree... 13 episodes is a bit short, but at least they didn't think they're be 26, and only produce 13, leaving things open ended.

So, it's been explained. the Shredder data was a copy of Che'rell's cyber suit and personality. And it took over Viral completely. That, of course was one of two theories I had. The other being she only dons the helmet and usurps the name to freak the turtles out.

The cyberstuff isn't bad so far... still seems like they're also fighting The Hacker or Mother Brain or something... and I gotta admit, the potential for some cool toys is there... but seems like we'll have to suffer through the Music themed turtles, the fire Fighter turtles and something to be named later where they're all dressed up like Pilgrims or in Banana suits or something....

I just hope this is a recurring theme, not a major focus.

It was only a decent episode, my least favorite of the season so far. The cyber world stuff has potential, but I hope they don't go there every episode. I'm sure we'll see some time-lapses wherein they've gathered more of Splinter.

I think the problem with this episode is that nothing really happened. It was basically one long fight scene, which is cool, except the fight itself was't particularly well done. Oh well.

Oh, and continued use of the earlier style in flashbacks continues to throw me.

Meh. Was okay, but I hope the other eps are less -worthy. How many times did they have to restate the "think like a cybernaut" line? Three? If it's weak the first time, repeating it will only annoy people. I agree that the cyber-world is rather gimmicy and (I think) boring, but I can only hope that this was the worst out of 13.

My hopes for season 8...

- Keep the same intro, but change it accordingly like seasons 1-5.

- 26 episodes please.

- No more themes for each season. Just keep it at BttS, or just TMNT next season.

But this is a great season so far, and one where I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Did they forget there were other Shredder's Tengu/Karai?Because it spoke with a manly voice and Tengu Shredder is both dead and had no understanding of technology.

Khan would also have known that The Cyber-Shredder Programe was an option

I enjoyed this episode, even if it was slightly more of a sequence of set-peices and even a more blatant toy commercial, but I guess you have to plug them somewhere...my only real concern is that it's going to be more than one toy variant there plugging this season, cyber-space may be the dumping ground for the plugs.

I think the fillers are going to pretty apparent, but the season is at least establisdhing everything one after the other so they can build up the more long-term stuff, like Khan's revenge and The Shredder War.

This episode was mostly alright. It didn't take too much time to get to the point, which was a good thing. I feel there was a Tron reference -- but not quite sure -- when Raph, Mikey, and Don were in those cyber-riders or whatever, so maybe someone could clear that up for me. Heck, maybe the whole episode was one big Tron reference. Anyway, I'm glad the Turtles have finally gotten into action about finding out where Splinter is and we know more about how Shredder, I guess, came back. Can't say I really had any problems with this episode, but maybe there could've been a little less focus on the "cyber" aspect or the aspect could've had more variety. Overall, I liked the science fiction and I guess hacking or cyberpunk themes in this episode.

Good ep. I like how they used the powers they learned from their time amongst the Ninja Tribunal a bit.

Also the reasoning behind their eyes showing is now good. It's to diferenciate between the Cyber relm (where they have the original masks) and the real realm (where they have the new masks).

This ep at least answered the questions in regards to Cyber Shredder. Give it up for a typical villian exposition where he explained his origins. *L* But it still doesn't explain why Karai didn't upload this version of Shredder when her father was defeated. Perhaps she forgot or the device used to upload him was destroyed??? Hopefully we'll know for sure.

We also got the answer of how they're storing Splinters bits...ghostbusters style. And they got him feet first!

We need to make a drinking game for this series. Everytime the turtles go "Father" take a sip! It's like the replacement for "It's Ninja Time!"

Next week: Hun returneth and Raph and Casey go shoppin for engagement rings...

Finally got to watch this one!

Found out that they are showing TMNT while I am at Body Combat. No way I am sacrificing my favorite workout.

Anyhow, they are saying "father" more than in previous seasons- when it was used sparingly.

I liked the armor and weapons.

I don't like how this is becoming the Donatello show. He's cool, but not my fave Turtle.

It was a bit jarring to see the older footage of Karai and Ch'rell, then breaking to a new shot, using the new Karai model... shouldn't have used that footage again, though it may help to solidify that it was indeed the past. Just should have been consistant with one model or the other.

The only complaint I have is... if Karai was obviously there when this tech was scanning Ch'rell's mind - why has she been freaking out? She's had her father's mind on a computer the entire time, and knew it! I mean, yes, she's sad that he's out there freezing on an asteroid somewhere, but on the revenge side of things... I think she'd be much more likely to attempt to upload his backup to some kind of robot, than assume the title of the Shredder, herself, as she did. I don't like what this does to her story. But then again, I haven't liked what they've done with her since the third season... though the fifth was some consolation, at least.

I have a hard time believing that's the internet... it doesn't translate well, visually. I would imagine something more esoteric; I would think finding a fast connection and joining it would make more sense, than having actual vehicles riding on a solid data stream, and some kind of decompiler, rather than actual weapons. But it's not bad, given the limits of using a purely audio-visual medium to bring it across, and you can always take the physical stuff symbolically... it'd probably read better in print, though.

:tgrumble: Ugh...the whole "think like a cybernaught (sp?)" thing almost made me pop a vessel...and that's not something easy to do. So yeah it was an OK episode, not my favorite. The fight was decent and for some reason it reminded me of a show featuring magical powers NOT butt-kicking ninjas. (especially Mikey's sheild thing, Raph's spin attack and whatever the heck Don did with the bites it all reminded me of Winx Club or something ) It's also nice to see Don less cranky but, I wish he was still back to normal. Mikey almost getting deleted caught me by surprise. All in all I hope the next episode with the return of Hun as well as Casey trying to 'pop the question' to April will prove a little more exciting.

"I told you soooooo" is what rang in my mind the entire time I was watching this. It was exactly like FF the only difference was they omitted "Ninja Time". The weapons look almost the same and the cyber world looks like a lot of the future city designs.

I'm not sure how I felt about the episode. The change was apparent to me. It's targeted at kids who play video games, or possible Tron enthusiasts. The entire car scene felt like a toy ad, wait there are no toys my bad...

Cyber Shredder was exactly how I envisioned him and his creation was what I figured. Tossing in a few frames of 2K3 animation to save money was something that didn't hide very well.

I can see where their going with this but there will have to be more villains in the cyber world to make collecting the fragments of the Splinter interesting. I'm sure we will see Baxter and maybe Bishop at some point.

The series is a mesh. It's FF mixed with 2K3 and I can bet any cyber episodes will have the ring and feel of FF while the real world will still be trying to bring back the 2K3 style.

Well this was clearly the weakest episode so far. it felt like a Fast Forward episode one of the actaul watchable one anyway. Like Fast Forward its flaws are at the forefront and and itw hard to see any of the actaul good. The Cyber world stuff at times feels like a mix between Fast Foward and Ninja Tribunal with the Turtles using the cyber powers by "thinking like an Cybernaught" instead of just focasing there chi. I dont mind the super power type stuff but the whole Cybernaught thing is lame.

Also agreed with the others that the turtles had a bad out of character moment with the racing scene. "Hey kids look these vehicles are super fun you too can forget your father is trapped begging for you to save him. All you have to do is go to your local toy oh yeah thats right no toys." Really a whole big toy advertisement and theres nothing to buy.

I like how Donatello is being handled his angst feels more real then Leo's did in season 4 to me. Its just a shame the other guys at times have to be written so crappy to do it. Leo seemed to be sitting on his Shell during the the whole thing didn't seem to be much of a leader. Mikey they were doing so well with him the last two episodes (Well except that one scene) but now they completely drop the ball with him just getting his ass handed to him left and right. I really hate whipping boy Mikey.

Well looks like it is Ch'rell a Cyber Clone of him anyway. Its cool to me as long as its not really Viral behind the mask. Looks like the way Cyber Shredder gets out is with Donny's portal dont look now Don but some more its your fault is coming. Didn't like the whole reusing 2K3 scene it doesn't mesh well at all with the new animation. How much of this shows budget got ripped away and thrown to Chaotic anyway. I dont want this to turn into 90's Spider-Man. I remember everytime Spidey took on Doc Ock they would shift back to this one footage everytime. I hope thats it for stock footage.

Is it just me or does Serling add nothing to this series he just stands around and then says one or two comments and there the same thing over and over. The only character that really has any chemistry with him is Cody and without him he's just worthless.

Next week seems better Casy and April engagment episode with Hun and Purple Dragons wahoo a more 2K3 episode. Hopefully there wont be any advertisments for toys that aren't even being made next week.

Not just you, chief. That overgrown, limp wrist tin-man is the single worst thing about FF and I just cannot stand that they felt he needed to come Back to the Sewer with the guys.

Buuuut... aside from that, I think Cyber Shredder looks awesome, and I'm psyched to see what will happen when Ch'rell gets back from the deep freeze and discovers that his "backup" has incorporated Viral and has plans of his own. Throw the Tengu Shredder into the mix (apparently), and I'm looking forward to the full fight we saw in the first BTTS episode. I have no doubt that the end of this season is going to be a "Shredder War".

To me the episode felt a lot like seasons 1-5.

I too, cannot wait to see the next episode, and the return of Hun.

I am also glad to hear about this new animated DTV movie, new toy line, and the fact Lloyd Goldfine said the end of the season, meaning we should get another.

I will definately buy all the new toys just to help this series stay up, and the episodes feel great again.

I hope this is a good time to be a Turtles fan, and we see many more seasons.

I liked the episode to be honest. I agree that Leo needed some more lines and that Mikey really doesn't need to be the butt of every joke But overall I liked everything else. I don't know why people had a problem with the racing part. It really didn't detract too much from the episode. To be honest I expected the racing scene to be worse from the comments I saw on here about it.

YEAH!! PEOPLE AGREE WITH ME, LoL! I want Leo to act like a leader again. I don't mind that Don is having some issues right now, but come on! Leo had no lines, and (like someone posted before) was mostly sitting on his shell, doing NOTHING!! Hello???

But did any one notice that one shot was of Karai in her 2k3 form and one was a breif side shot of her in her BTTS design?

That really bugged me. A lot. I mean, even during fast forward, when they introduced "2k3 elements" they were presented in FF style. But otherwise, I'm enjoying what I've been seeing so far. I like the new Cyber Armor. Could make for some really neat action figures. That is if playmates is interested in doing action figures this year...

no kidding let Leo take a back seat and let Don has his well over due time to shine in the character department. Poor boy is taking this hard and so far his focus is the most interesting thing I'm seeing right now.

For those of you thinking that Karai not useing the back up version of Shredder is a plot hole think of it this way, would you want a downloaded version of your father or the real thing? Sure Karai helped Shredder down load a back up version of him self if something happened happened to him, but don't forget the events that led up to Che'rell being banished. Karai in a way turned on her father because of her respect for Leo who helped put Che'rell in the predictament he is right now, in a way she played a hand in putting her father away, but instead of awknolwedging that she directed all the anger she has on her self completely on the turtles, which is why she went after than with such a vengence. She wanted to kill them her self and wash away her own guilt by destroying her father enemies. Why would she want to upload a false digital back up file of her father as a constant reminder of the reason why she has to turn to it was also her own fault. Plus I think having him there but not there wouild be to painful for Karai so she didn't turn to that. Her motives are emotional Kahn would having these emotional hang ups and would have no problem having Cyber Shredder materialize as long as he has his mater lead the foot again.

If Karai didn't want to upload her "back up" father due to feelings of guilt and pain, I think it would be interesting to see how she'll react to seeing the back up cyber Shredder materialize, her father but not her father back again. Might open old wounds and refresh old resentments.

Also before people go saying that Serling's presence is a waste, remember that it was said that he would play a big part in the whole cyber worls collecting Splinter thing. Don't think that Don isn't going to figure out a more profienct way of finding and holding Splinter, and Serling may be that means.

Leo screaming as he was awakened suddenly by Don was funnier than it should be. XD But it's not often we see him caught off guard like that. I mean, Mikey didn't even scream as much as he did. I can't stop laughing.

I agree I think I laughed for a solid minute at leo's reaction when Don woke him up, it's funny because this is Leo we are talking about. The one that's always alert and ready for anything, letting out a yelp. My only theory is that Leo's actor didn't mean to come off quite so "startled" as he made Leo out to be. Eighther that or they where all sleep deprived because Don had been keeping his them up for hours not letting them go to bed till he figured out how to get into cyber world so they where all dead ass weary and strung out. Raph looked pretty damn testy when Don woke him up. When Raph made that sweeping motion with his arm I thought for second he was about to deck Don for waking him. All signs of sleep deprivment.

my theory is because she would be a physical reminder that she had to use the back up of her father because she failed him. I mean this is Karai we are talking about, you can accuse her of many things but being rational isn't one of them. I think this is where kahn comes in, he has no problem with cyber Shredder since his realtionship with him is more practuical and calculating.

You Tubed episode 3, "Something Wicked".

Well, we're knee deep into the Cyber Space arc, now. I'm hoping we only have to suffer through one or two more episodes of this and it doesn't encompass the whole season. The concept is so incredibly and blatantly toy-driven that it hurts. Yes, I am aware of the irony of that sentence, what with toys being a huge part of the franchise, but there are MUCH better ways to tell a story that sells a toyline.

The reveal of the Cyber Shredder's identity was interesting, though not entirely surprising since fans had come up with that theory some time ago. Still, I'm glad they at least addressed Ch'Rell's whereabouts and it WAS good seeing him again, even if it was only for a few seconds in a flashback.

I'm kind of hoping that this doesn't mean the end of Viral. The TMNT have so few female villains (Karai and...um...Karai?), I'd like to see at least one stick around and develope into a real adversary.

Anyhow, if this show has one saving grace, it would have to be Dong Woo's animation. The story may be lame, but they did a fantastic job on those Cyber Space fight scenes. When I first saw Cyber Shredder's character design I thought he looked way too busy, but Dong Woo makes the design work far more fluidly than I had anticipated.

I hope this Cyber Space stuff doesn't meander on for too much longer. The whole point of "Back to the Sewers" was to take the TMNT back to their gritty, urban setting. Blasting them off into the internetto have Tron-like adventures sort of defeats the purpose.

I was glad to see that Cyber Shredder caught on to the possibility of using the Turtles' dimensional slip into the real world. That HAS to mean Shredder will find a way to escape back into the real world to battle the Turtles in NY. After all, we've already seen the massive Shredder brawl in episode 1. I like the assurance that the Turtles really are back, back to the Sewer!

Sadly, I wasn't able to see this ep due to a doctor's appointment. I tried to watch it on YouTube, but it wasn't working right on my computer. It would play a few seconds of the ep and then stop to load. Then it would play a few more seconds and stop to load. I did see a little bit though, and I liked what I saw. Leo's yelp when Don woke him was hilarious. I cracked up when it happened. I also liked Raph's comment to Don, "Explain this to me like I'm Mikey." That was all I got to see. However, judging by what I've read I'm sure it was a pretty good ep. I guess I'll just have to wait until the holidays to catch this ep again.

I can't wait for next week's though. At least I won't miss that one.

Can't say I was a big fan of this week's episode. A lot of the episode felt like a toy commercial, and by the 18th time someone said "think like a cybernaut", I was about ready to change the channel. It's unfortunate, because I really enjoyed last week's episode and was hoping the show would finally get back to basics. I'm gonna keep watching for now, but if the cyber-world gimmick is something they use every week, I don't know how long that'll be.

On one hand, the animation was decent and the action scenes were pretty good, but the design of the cyber-world and the Turtles' cyber-armour were pretty cyber-terrible, IMO. The next episode sounds a lot more promising, though, so I'll see how things go.

(However, I don't want to come across as overly whiny about the show if it doesn't turn out like I'm hoping... I understand that the target audience isn't 20-something fans, it's children. If the show performs well and the kids are enjoying it, then I'm happy for Mirage and the producers, it's just not something I'm gonna spend my time watching.)

I still subscribe to the fact that Cyber Shredder, using Viral's assimilated knowledge of the time portal, brings them from the past to defeat the Turtles once and for all
I'm hoping that's the case, too, because if time-travel is involved there's a good chance the Turtles will be able to get rid of Serling by the end of the season. I find him pretty irritating and pointless, and it'd be nice if his screen time could be used on better characters.

I am also glad to hear about this new animated DTV movie, new toy line, and the fact Lloyd Goldfine said the end of the season, meaning we should get another.
To be fair, while obviously everyone involved wants the show to continue and have plans for its future, ultimately it really all depends on ratings. It's probably too early this season to know for sure if the show will get another renewal. (Unless some ratings information has been released yet...?)

CyberCubed
09-29-2008, 02:29 PM
4kids/Playmates probably want TMNT to continue until the new movie comes out, since that boosts ratings and toy sales respectively.

I think the show has a few years left in it at least.

Random thoughts:

Biggest surprise of the episode: seeing a semi-plausible explanation for the turtles' transformation into data--with a continuity nod, to boot. After all, if the trascendental lathe (that machine that the turtles used to make their weapons in Fast Forward) can transform data into matter, then it's not a stretch to think that it can be modified to the opposite. Plus, it explains how Donny's been able to make the turtles' new toys in a short amount of time. Very efficient detail, from a writing standpoint.

Speaking of efficiency, I also like how the Cyber-Shredder's opening story can be used to justify the Shredder surviving the TCRI explosion in Secret Origins...he didn't. While the plot development leaves a pretty obvious question of why Karai didn't simply clone the little bug back to life after he'd been banished, that will, I hope, be explained later.

I'm still of two minds as to the series' blatant use of previous seasons' footage. It's a blatant money-saving method, of course, and not done subtly at all, and yet I can't help but finding their use of the tactic gutsy. And charming. And reminiscent of the unprofessional vibe of the original comics.

While I'm not enamored of the turtles' cybernaut outfits, I do like the rest of the cyber aesthetic. Original it may not be, but it looks coherent and "fitting". While I don't think the concept has much strengh for more than a handful of episodes--particularly since it's a variation of a concept the series has already used twice--I don't mind it here.

This episode and the last were both written by Mike Ryan, who penned some of the best TMNT episodes and was, I believe, one of the main series' writers. He'd been missing for the past season or two, so I'm glad to see him back.

So far, I'm liking this season quite a bit--better than both seasons 5 and 6, at any rate. Given how nervous I was about it, I am very glad that I can say that.

Wasn't there supposed to be an adapation of "Worms of Madness" that was to have Karai attempt this and utterly fail at trying to clone Shredder? Plus the Cyber Shredder was a program so I guess maybe Karai didn't bother since it only be an electronic copy of Chre'll not organic.

Also maybe Stockman's betrayl was even more deep with him destroying and taking all the tech he had created for Ch'rell including this.

this wasn't bad. It was nice seeing Donny not so uptight in this one. The whole cybernaught thing made me  but I think the whole cyber woirld thing has potencial to be interesting if they play their card right. I mean Shredder is on the internet he may be trapped but he sure can wreck some havoc anywhere in the world through the internet. If he really wanted to he could probably hack into any top secret places and get information to use against the turtles and even free himself from the asteroid. If he really wanted too he could corupt countless teenagers and young adults through the internate. The possiablites are just endless if the show "goes there". I just think his predictament isn't as hopless if he takes avantage of new cyber body, I really hope Shredder does something like that instead of just twiddling his thums waiting for the next time the turtles come back and get more of Splinter to do some thing.

My computer went down in April and between work and now school I've had a hard time doing anything but the occasional lurk here. But since I finally caught up on the BttS episodes on Youtube this evening, I thought I'd try to get back into the swing of things.

And my verdict so far:

Well, it's mixed. I'm beginning to think seasons 1-4 are going to remain unthouched in terms of storytelling and animation quality. But while I was done with Fast Forward by the third episode and I never did get around to finishing Ninja Tribunal... I'm tentatively ready for more. Gimmicky? Yes. Some eyerolling at the cybernaut stuff? Sure. Lipsync? They still can't do it. But there is a little hint of the Turtles I love in there, and I'm ready to just sit and enjoy with my brain powered down, soaking up the little tidbits I like. And there are a reasonable number:

* Don being more volitional this time around. Like season 4 Leo, a little... all the focus, a large bit of the self-blame, but only a little of the dangerous rage. This will be interesting to see how these leadership tendencies play out, and how Leo will bring any of his leader stuff to the table.

* I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm a big fan of the pupils. It enhances the expressions so much. And the cyberworld switch has at least a taste of my "dream TMNT eye setup" (to give it a ridiculously important-sounding name)

* Cyber suits? Yeah, kind dumb and too colorful. But I think the way the parts themselves are arranged (and the way the white plays off the base color) is kinda nice, at least.

* The fact that the turtles' builds are different, but more than the FF "gee Raph is huge" models. Raph is clearly the biggest, then Leo, then Mike, then Don. Which is my favorite way to distribute their relative beefiness, though I mix up the heights a little more.

* Oh, and I'm digging Master Splinter's new design too.

Sure I've got a list of gripes to match (the top of the list being Karai's oversight followed by constant references to Mike's "stupidity" *facepalm*) but the overall trend suggests we're not going to top my favorite episodes of modern Turtles, so I'll just enjoy what is and if I must, make better fanworks.

And that's something, at least... watching these episodes has given me the Turtles drawing itch for the first time in a few months.

I hope there aren't 10 more episodes of the cyberspace searching for Splinter's pieces. In the next episode or two, I want Splinter back, Cyber Shredder escaped into the physical world, and have the rest of the episodes in the spirit of the earlier, better seasons.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that, but I wouldn't be so quick to write off the whole cyber world thing, we only saw one episode of it so it wouldn't be fair to completely turn up are noses at it just yet with only one episodes development, it could develop into something more solid and interesting than just a toy comercial. Take the gathering of Splinter's data for example, that could just be a red herring. What if the Splinter's data thing isn't going to work at all and Shredder is just doing that to get the turtles to keep coming back into his realm so he can study their portal thing.

For the official record, I did not like Fast Forward. Not to rant but it makes my position clear from the get-go :) I couldn't help it, I'm old and I like dark stuff.

These new episodes seem to be trying to claw their way back to the grittier style of the first few seasons (angst, guilt, Shredder, etc...) but it seems that at every turn, there's some brightly-coloured mock-Disney character or daft joke standing in the way.

But I'll start with the positives: The cyber fight with Shredder was pretty awesome and it's nice to see them using the weapons as nature intended - to actually hit things rather than blast them.

The Lost-Splinter arc is also a nice touch. Seeing the boys work without their mentor is always good for some conflict and soul-searching, let's just hope they put some in....

Serling actually made me laugh in this one (the speed-bump quip) and I'm so glad Cody Jones is no-where in sight :)

Not-so positives (Cause negative is ..well..negative): Did I miss an episode or two before they went to the future? When did the lair get that big?? Surely Central Park is suffering from subsiding by now?

Next, I agree with the general consensus on this one - Leo, Mikey and Raph seem quite out of character lately. Where's Raph's rage? Leo's authority? Mike's sarcasm? I'm just getting the feeling that it's all going abit diluted in a bid to keep the younger viewers happy (I mean no disrespect to younger viewers, that's just how the execs see it)

And finally, the eyes creep me out! But that's a personal issue. I know they chose that move to make it more like the films but this isn't CGI, it's animation, and it makes them look very, very young.

Anyway, there's my two cents and a couple of pennies. Take as you will :D

I don't know why people hated the ninja tribunal arc. I thought it was a good season overall. Just as good as the first four to be honest. Plus in my view it was a good end. I personally see Fast Forward and Back to the sewers as being a completely seperate series (sort of like the red sky seasons in the old toon), but even then I don't see why people hated Fast Forward. Unless people these days really believe everything has to have dark and edgy themes to be good.

Honestly I liked Fast Forwards lightheartedness. It was a good break from the first five super serious seasons, and in my opinion it was a nice change of pace.

I just want the show to keep going past season 7.

Someone at 4kids wanna cheer me up by saying everything going to be ok, and the show will go on?

Well not every ep will have them look for Splinter. This saturday's ep deals with Casey, Raph, an engagement ring, Hun, and hilarity ensuing... :D

So, first off, all I could think of was that song from the Harry Potter movie (and, you know, from other things. Shakespeare...) 'Something wicked this way comes...'

...Why am I afraid that Mikey using 'touche' is going to be the most amusing part of this...?

It occured to me about 8 minutes in that my eyes were glazed over and I was staring at the screen, but not really watching.

I almost turned it off when they put on that cyber armour.

'Think like a cybernaut'? How about being a 'ninja'. You know; like, in the title?

...What does Shredder say when he first smashed Raphael into the ground?

How about 'sorry, Serling'? Were they brought up with no manners?

That pic of Splinter with the toes colored in reminded me in some weird way of Major League and the cut out they used as inspiration to win.

Ok. Just about completely bored and more than unamused would sum up how I felt about this episode. *yawns* This is definitely not the same show; and in a bad way. Really. It sucked. Nothing funny, or amusing, or even interesting.

And I'm really trying to see the 'huge growth' Donatello is going through. I just don't see it. Sure, they gave him a tad more personality... But we're so not used to it anymore, that giving them bigger personality must seem like leaps and bounds in character development. I saw him more or less leading Leo in a way, but he's always done that. He tells Leo what he needs to get done, Leo steers the other two in the direction to make that happen.

Anyhow, I'm disappointed. I'm not seeing promise. I'm seeing watered down stuff. 2K3 was so much more superior to this. And this week's episode? Sounds even less interesting. I think it's a bad idea.

But I guess we'll see.

EDIT - ...Why am I afraid that Mikey using 'touche' is going to be the most amusing part of this...?

PS - It was. And not even in a funny way. Just a bit of wry humour that he'd use it.

It was a fun episode specially with the Tron parodies.

Course I can only think of a hand full of shows that did actual spoofs of the movie.

I almost feel sorry for Sterling to be stuck in the 2000s.

It was good episode but this cyber thing is kinda boring. What was cool about this episode that it was TMNT vs Shedder, no other characters around just Turtles and Shedder although Serling appeared in the episode. I hope he in some episode he will participate in fighting too.

Too bad this season is only 13 episodes since I have really liked it, especially because it is Donatello centric. I noticed that we have had 3 episodes and turtles havent beat single big enemy. In first episode they beat dinosaur and knights but otherwise they have always fled from battle.

Next episode is hopefully Raph/Casey solo mission and no other turtles. Donatello is best turtle but Raph has best soloepisodes.
