CW4KIDS premiering the finale or Funimation releasing the DVD?

I'm thinking that even if 4KIDS plans on it, they'll probably cave to fans' demand and finish premiering the thirteen eps in the seven months between then and now. So, I vote DVD.


CLARIFICATION: I mean premiering ep 13 in May versus DVDs of all 13 eps going on sale in May. Which should we bet on? "Daddy needs a new pair of shoes" and such...

Definantly DVD. Pete said that as of now, BTTS is it, so hopefully we get a balls to the walls NT movie that ties up all the loose ends.

Yes Peter said so in an interview recently.

Peter: Right now, the "Back to the Sewer" season is it, as far as I know. We have not had any discussions about another season to follow it, but that could change.

Even if it is the last season, it sure lasted a damn long time by today's standards. I was hoping for it to hit the # of episodes of the OT, though!

It wouldn't be the first series to face its seeming demise in this manner. Justice League (twice!), Teen Titans, Kim Possible...they all came back for at least one more season. Given 4Kids and the possibility of a new movie, I'd say TMNT has a better chance than most.

By DVD, does he mean the collected season (which have been known to begin selling before a season ends--see Fast Forward), or has the supposed movie/finale/whatever been confirmed outside the Toyfare magazine the "news" first appeared in? I wondered why I only got one answer for the question so far... Yes, I meant premiering ep 13 in May or DVD of all 13 in May. So, are you voting "both"?

I'm gonna say that the DVD may premiere in May. Even though Laird said that for now, BTTS is it, I think they're waiting to see how fans react to it. If the reaction is good, they'll try for another season. I'm thinking all the eps may be finished before the holidays. And if not then, at least by the new year.

You know... I am willing to buy the toys again, if it keeps this show on for the long haul.

I am double dipping with these new DVD's as I own the old ones (which I sell once the new ones come out.) I own all three TMNT games on Gamecube, 1,2 on GBA, and 3 on DS. I bought TMNT 1989 Arcade on XBLA, and THREE copies of TMNT when it came out last year (one for son, one for me on regular DVD for 400 disc player, and a copy on Bluray.)

This is just me alone, and I find it hard to believe this property isn't making enough money to keep it going. Shenanigans...

I would like to see this show stay on as long as Pokemon, Simpsons, Power Rangers, and all the dumb reality shows TV offers.

If it does end, all I have left is Transformers Animated, then I guess I'll be done with cartoons until the next best thing, whatever that may be, I have no idea.

When did the negotiations for FF even start? We didn't even know the fifth season would be "Lost" until Toyfair, and the premire of the FF toys. And for BTTS, it was well after November before we heard anything. I'm sure that we'll hear something more final in the coming months. Hey, they could even rerun BTTS another good season before we get a final decision.

TMNT and Chaotic are all 4Kids essentially has right now, and considering they care more about the franchise than the toy company or even the creators, they'd definitely try a few concepts before negotiations start. They are taking things slow, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. 13 episodes has been proven to last an entire year. That's what Kid's WB used to do, that's no exception here. Even with FF, I bet they were planning to only air 13 episodes at a time. Though, they pretty much aired 19 or so, and the second broadcast season was made up of what was left.

So unless we hear of something big and bad in the coming weeks, there's nothing to get panicky about. Unless Playmates screws the toy line up even further (and I mean, PAST the BTTS so called variants) and the ratings plummit to below a 1 point share (which is decent for Saturday morning Broadcast, apparently), the show will have to go on... it's 4kid's last hope.

Once Peter Laird announces the 5th movie deal, Playmates and 4kids being the money lovers they are will want to keep the cartoon around so they can bank off the success of the movie. They did it with the 2007 movie, when ratings and toysales were at their highest.

The Playmates toyline won't continue very long without a cartoon, I very much doubt Playmates wants to call it quits. If you checked the rating reports TMNT still pulls in good ratings for the block, even FF is doing great in reruns back on 4kidsTV.

Making the Turtles look more like the movie designs and then cancelling the show before the 5th movie comes out is a ridiculous idea. What is the point of re-branding the show on a new network just to kill it off?

Rereleasing the same line over and over again? I don't see how that's gonna effect the show in the long run. 4kids would do everything in their power to keep it going... it's so sad that they care about the franchise more than the creators or toy company... but out of the three, which one do they regularly send a representitive to post here?
