Greetings, My precious...
Once again, I propose to you another eye-rolling teaser for this week's upcoming episode. Let's hope this plot won't bring you to your knees...
*ducks tomatoes*
Okay, so this week (according to TVGuide), Casey's getting ready to pop the question to the lovely April O'neil (much to Donnie's inner chagrin, I'm sure). So whom better to go with Casey to the jewelers for ring shopping than... Raph.
...What? Raph just doesn't seem the type to be looking a pretty sparkly Dainty lil diamond rings. Can you imagine the poor jeweler seeing these two come into the store, and being told, "We're here for an engagement ring."? My first thought would be to look at the hunched over trenchcoat wearing 'beauty' with the chain-smoker voice and ask Casey 'what the hell are you thinking?'
...but I digress.
So, Raph and Casey are checking out the rings. Big rings, small rings, simple, complex... hundreds of options to choose from. My opinion would be a simple gold ring with a three stone grouping.
Instead of this, they pick out something unique.
http://coosacreek.org/mambo/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/one-ring.jpg
...you would think if the ring is floating and surrounded by FIRE... they would look at each other and say "Hmm... this might not be a good idea." But this is Raph and Casey we're talking about.
So they take the ring, not knowing the Evil that's connected to it. Thiis attracks the interest of Hun and the ever popular Purple Dragons. Are we going to see Hun denegrate into this nasty big version of Gollum from the Lord of the Rings? Or are they gonna go a different route (aka movie reference), and start crawling out of April's TV to get her soul?
And while they're messing around with apocalyptic jewelry, what's going on with the other turtles? Are they still diligently searching for the remaining fragments of Splinter? Is Donnie slowly turning into a caffee-drinking, brain-fried homocidal insomniac with his relentless struggle to return his father to normal and end his torment of guilt?
And what of this Ring? Will they have to destroy the ring, or could Donnie take that evil power and transform it into something he could use for his mission? Or is this too outlandish an idea? Heck, this is a show about mutant ninja turtles traveling the internet...
Who knows! And as I close out, I will leave you with the questions, yet again...
WILL CASEY POP THE QUESTION TO APRIL IN THIS EPISODE?!
WILL SHE SAY YES?!
WILL HUN AND THE PD's RETRIEVE THE RING FOR THEIR OWN SEEDY PURPOSES?!
HOW LONG WILL I BE ABLE TO TYPE LIKE THIS BEFORE I GET YELLED AT?!
STAY TUNED!!!

This was much much much much better than last week!
Even if there are allot of stereo types floating around lol
It also seems for some odd reason that the art is much better in this episode than the previous ones, or am I the only one that noticed this?
You know it's odd I seem to enjoy the show when it has less to do with the turtles or just one turtle.
Ok possessed April is awesome! I want a toy of that lol what makes her even more awesome is that she created the 2 figures we've yet to see in stores (thanks Playmates).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/Harmophious/Batty.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/Harmophious/Mole.jpg
I was very excited to see them, it's a shame it all ended so quickly.
Did I say yet how much I enjoyed this episode?
It's crazy how they showed Casey hitting her with the trash can, I can't believe they got away with that.
It also sounds like Hun's voice is back to how it was before.
Geez this just keeps getting better and better, I love that Dark possessed version of April.
I keep thinking 2 things while watching this episode that it reminds me of something that would be in an Archie TMNT Adventures issue & the other thing is boy Playmates are seriously idiots not to be making toys based on this series but what they do anymore does not surprise me at all.
The only thing that surprised me with this episode was the fact that we didn't see Cyber Shredder or the Foot at all.
I think over all this was one of the best episodes from the ones we've seen so far as it had allot to offer and added allot to the story line.

Yeah, the animation seemed somewhat nice in this episode.
It was nice to see Hun with his old voice back. I really hope they go back and apply the effect to his voice in future DVD releases of Season 5 and 6.
Also, am I nuts or did the weapons that Hun used look like Bishop's tech? Probably stolen from one of Bishop's convoys. The Purple Dragons were heisting military tech from Bishop in Season 4, afterall.
This season also seems to be pushing what they can show on a kids show again, if only by a little. Hitting April with a trashcan, an onscreen kiss, and Hun practically saying he was going to cut off April's finger all took me by surprise. Especially that last one. Seems like the only controversial elements of the last season at all were the implications that Dunn wanted to kill his nephew.
This season is definitely shaping up to be great.

Epic. Freaking epic! How long has it been since we've seen a Casey/Raph episode? Only thing that came close was that segment in "The Notebook." This is a moment I was looking forward to since FF started up. Casey and Raph back together in action. Even if this was a lousy episode, they'd make it work.
I guess the fact that we know they're getting married was a little drop in the surprise... though I thought they'd do it much, much later. Not on the series, when they were in their 30's or something. Though, I guess this is why they didn't want to include that sequence in the movie.
Anyone else think that Hun trying to justify that he didn't really destroy the turtles was precious? "No,... that's a clown in a Turtle suit... or a clone...or a... never mind!" And props to Casey for still going through with the engagement when April when she was shouting about the dishes. Possession or not, all I could think of is hair curlers and rolling pins... BONK!
And I agree... a Monster April figure would kick so much shell. Too bad they aren't gonna get their rears in gear and make some great BTTS stuff like they planned with FF.
I will say, that final exchange between Donny and Mikey about how that guy reminds him of Splinter was kind of a drag. Yeah, we know you're guilty about it, and you're doing all you can (hopefully between episodes) but we get the idea.

Good ep, I like it. The look Casey had when Raph talked to him about the marriage was kind of funny:lol:
Hun's face was worth some chukles when he saw Raph, and I liked Raph's comment about being "best man material".
Mikey's joke about being maid of honor at the end was so stupid, I thought Raph or someone would've smacked him.

This one really picked up fast, I was banging my head against the wall while Casey acted like a dill-weed trying to propose. I know it's a kids show, but god.
Then Raph's half assed disguise... he talked to the old guy face to face, a shift towards the OT in a bad way.
But still the best episode yet, so I'm happy.

Best episode of the season. It was fun, it had its little shockers (threatening to cut of fingers is just rude), and the animation was the best we've seen in a while.
Also cool to see how far the Purple Dragons have progressed towards being a legitimate crime syndicate.
Oh, and we finally got a glimpse of that mole mutant. I guess they wanted him in there to advertise a future toy release. I was kind of hoping he'd be an actual mutant. It would've been a throwback to one of the better elements of the old toon.
The writers were trying too hard to make Raph funny. That was rather lame. But, I enjoyed the ep overall. If that actually was Mansley's interpretation of Hun, my mind is thoroughly blown to bits. :o That was just too perfect. I liked Mikey's lone joke at the end. I think his humor is just easily overdone. That's why it usually pisses us all off.

I wanna add, I'm glad the writers remembered Casey's Gretzky fandom!
Oh, the trashcan thing... Did it not make anyone else roll their eyes? I applaud them for having the gumption to play the 'desperate times call for desperate measures' card, but magically-enhanced, possessed April was looking right at the thing as it was being thrown. Is this the limitations of those powers? They just have no defense against garbage? Gimme a break.
So, I think I'll put this one as my second favorite BttS ep, right under "Karate Schooled". Just a few too many lame jokes (and they weren't Mikey's this time).

Very good episode. There's nothing more to add... except for the design of April's monster form. I really hate it. When she flew into the air, I got a Winx Club vibe out of it. Uck.

Me too. I had more problem with that than the fact that they got away with it. I thought he would slip the trash can over her head or something. I can't believe she couldn't dodge or blast it. At least they should have turned her around so she's couldn't see it in time to dodge or do anything.

Great episode, probably the best of the season.
So all those other Purple Dragon died when April blew up the helicopter? We didn't get a "I can see their parachutes!" type of line.
Overall I really liked this episode, the darkness from the previous seasons returned such as Hun threatening to cut off April's finger and a lot of other moments.
I hope this show gets a Season 8, I really love this animation and I want to see it continue. Here's hoping when Laird announces the 5th movie 4kids renews it for another season.

Masc (sorry I can't recall the rest of your name!) you do an awesome job of reviewing! Keep it up!
As for "Engagment Ring," I loved it! I screamed with delight when Casey poped the question!
Even though it was a Raph/Casey episode, I'm glad they had the rest of the turtles there.
So, which "Shreeder," Do you think Hun was refering to? Tengu, Uton, or Cyber? I'm assuming it is the Cyber, I don't know.
Also, do you think Karai will be back next week? I hope so! I want to see her and Kluck the cat back!

OMG I loved this ep!! Casey's proposal to April was very sweet. He looked hot in the tux but the top hat was a bit much. *L*
I have a feeling that the Mr. Myagi type dude will show up again. Seemed like reacurring character material.
At least we know the origin of the mole rat monster and it seems that the Purple Dragon's have gone up in the world since the foot disbanded.
Of all the locations Casey suggested for the wedding I like the beach one the best. Altho perhaps it'll be in Central Park? Mike wanting to be the maid of honour was weird but maybe he's seen the movie "Made of Honour"???
Quotes:
"And we shall sacrifice Oxen on the alter!" - April
This was a lot better than last week's episode. Did anyone notice that the ring was on her right hand instead of her left? I thought that was odd, haha.

all right we are back in the saddle with the city based story lines. :D I loved this episde and it was nice to see Hun in it as well. I'm liking his new pimp white outfit, and I'm liking the new purple dragons, although, although I noticed they didn't show any of the girl PD memebers. I was a bit suprised that Hun still has old voice, but I'm happy none the less, I was sure I was going to be alienated by a new voice for so I'm glad he still has the same guy, or if he doesn't the new actor does a bang up job immitating the old actor. I'm glad the plot for this episdoe wasn't some generic stand alone episode and had an actual connection to the over all plot of this season of him wanting the ring to have cahnce against the Shredder coming back, and not some genric "I want to me more pwerful so all will fear me!!!" Though I'm confused on why Hun's afraid of Shredder, he genrally did everything he was told so why the fear? Baxter is the one who reason to worry since he was the one that F*cked Shredder over in season three. But this gives more question on what Karai is up to and why she isn't head of the foot any more.
I'm glad that Casey and Raphael still have their good friendship. I was afraid it was going to be ignored in foavor of getting the plot played out in tihs season but I was happy to see that that they still have that rapport with each other. It wasn't till this episde I realized how much I missed Casey and Raph's friendship, it's little tid bits like this that make the show great. And Casey was just to adorable in this episode, his awkwardness really endeared me in this episode. I've never really been a big fan of the Casey+April realtiosnhip, since I always found them really forced and flat, but this episode really put me in touch with Casey feelings for April and I think I'm starting to like them. He really cares for her abnd I felt that, he showed such concern for her welfare that it ewasheart breaking. The fact that he showed up in a tux and top hat made me chuckle, but I'm glad that he threw out the paper of crap on it and just got down on one knee and told her how he felt from the heart. That proposal got an awww, out of me. Casey showed a wide range of emotions in from concern and helplessness, he really caresfor Arpil so much that he doesn't even want to hurt her even if it's for own good. The Casey sliding the ring off of April finger was well played out, with him struggling and then finnally puting his emoptions into the act. Awsome! I like how this episode focused on Casey and April, it's nice when the show has supporting characters that are dynamic enough where that they can take center stage and the main characters can take a back seat with out the showlosing it impact. And Raphael and the turtles really felt like sidecharacters in this one.
April being posses was cool. April's actor really did a good possed April in this episde, by sounding menacing and evil. I liked how the show made her act like a beast by walking on the cieling and crouching down like an animal. Her oxen sacrifice comet really made her sound demonic, it's too bad they couldn'yt keep her like that because I thought her turning her into a flying bat took away some of her menace. All in all good episde.

Watching it now....I'm gonna do running commentary and I'll spoiler tag it.
Am I a sap for almost crying at Casey's proposal?
Hun's voice is BACK...BACK TO THE SEWER! Sorry I couldn't resist! And man he is a hard nosed leader, though he's still scared of the Shredder, though he did tangle with the Tengu Shredder.
So Red Kryptonite rings also affect normal humans....:P
April's gone Super-Sayian!
"In my frog suit...ribbit..."
It's one of the New Jersey Mole Men!! (see the Journal)
Leave it to Casey to give April a possessed engagement ring.
I was hoping that they'd comment on Hun's "trophies" and they did....I'm happy.
The Purple Dragons are a biker gang?
So, April's gonna become a monster, unless Casey can take the Ring of Yin off. Oh, boy.
WTH?! April's all big ugly "evil made flesh."
I was wondering if this would be just Raph and Casey, can't say I'm disappointed that the other made a showing.
Mikey was actually funny...and not annoying. Huhzah!
A Teenage Mutant Ninja Best-man? :P
"Just as precious...minus the evil." :D
Ok, they are really playing up the Donnie-angst.
OK, I retract my "Mikey's not annoying" line.
Did Donnie get excited about the wedding, right after being upset about Splinter?
All in all a good episode, but I'm a Raphie fan so I'm biased. :D
VERY GOOD EPISODE!
Felt like good old seasons 1-5 again to me, but with a lighter tone. I don't mind the lighter tone so long as they keep the balance they have with this season.
PLEASE... DO... NOT... LET... THIS... SHOW... END!!!
I know you see this 4kids... :P
You found a good balance, now work with it for about 5-10 more seasons. :P

Am I the only one already wondering how they'll handle the Turtles being at their wedding? Unless April only invites a few selected family members, I don't know how they can pull off a wedding with 4 mutant turtles... and most likely a giant rat (maybe even a giant gator). Not to mention Casey's family. Unless they only invite people like Karai, The Shredder, Bishop, Baxter, and Hun to the wedding.

I really enjoyed this ep. I'm still not sure what's up with Hun's voice - he sounded the way he originally did, at the beginning, but it seemed like he started straying toward the 'off' voice - is this the same actor? I didn't think his voice was filtered in the first four seasons, but now I'm not sure, and... ah, I give up, heh. His Foot tattoo is gone, good attention to detail. I couldn't quite tell, from the model sheet.
Proposal was 'aww'. I initially protested the dishes-throwing - I just remembered when the Turtles were living with April, and she'd freak out about them breaking the dishes. Then... oh, that explains it.
Donnie. One-track mind. Stoppit. :|
Woot! I have no overly-analytical thoughts this time. But I am pleased. :)

Good episode but too bad they had to throw other turtles in during last minutes but it didn“t ruin the episode, I would have just liked to have it, that no turtle appears in every episode but Leo still has this honor.
Much better than cyber-things, and it was nice to see April having more screentime. Too often she has only make few appearances in a episode and Casey has been fighting along guys.
Those two purple dragon in the beginning bared resemblance to Wolverine. Other was short and looked like Wolverine and other had claws as a weapon.

Would have to agree with just about all o' you and say this episode was very good. Everything just seemed to fit and nothing felt pointless. I thought the humor was necessary and a little more than I expected in a good way. The fact that this episode was so different from last week's and didn't really focus on cyber-this and cyber-that, I think, kept me quite engaged. Plus, it didn't seem to mention the Turtles continuing to look for Splinter, which was a welcome change.
I didn't seem to mind the fact that this episode was mostly about Raph and Casey because it gave the writers or whoever a chance to show what's going on with their friendship. And well, the fact that Casey proposed to April, I think, gives the fans a lot to look forward too. I'm glad their relationship is starting to gain significance in this series.
The horror and, I guess, fantasy elements, like April's being possessed, worked quite well and I wouldn't mind seeing more of those elements. For some reason, I thought of The Evil Dead when April was possessed -- probably because of her deep voice and her not very ladylike actions. The monster designs were cool too and I liked how they fit into the aspect of the ring.
Overall, quite a satisfying episode and probably the best thing since sliced bread. In a way, I'm sure the quailty of this episode with carry over into the rest of the series.

*Cracks knuckles* Ok, here we go....
I miss the narration at the opening of every episode..just thought I'd mention.
Hot damn, it's the old guy from the Gremlins! Anyone but me old enough to remember that movie? Seriously, he has to be carrying a mogwai. I could just see Mikey..
MIke: Can we keep him? Can I name him Gizmo?
But I digress. Anyway, yeah, the guy from Gremlins is being chased by Purple Dragons who apparently have nothing better to do than attack innocent mackrels.
And of course the old guy is so used to seeing gremlins that he doesn't blink at Raph's green face or green three fingered hand. But he DOES give them a freaky glowing red ring. Psssh...men. DIAMONDS are for engagement rings, not freaky glowing red ones.
The proposal was the funniest part of the whole season so far.
Casey: I love you as much as Gretsky loves hockey and i wanna play you the rest of my life.
*Mind drops straight to gutter on that one*
And April becomes one of those curler wearing, dish throwing, rolling pin carrying demons. (Not really but that's what it reminded me of when she's throwing dishes and yelling at Casey). Give Casey credit for still wanting to go through with the wedding after seeing April at her worst.
Then a bunch of unimportant stuff happens with monsters and demons etc...
THEN Casey throws a garbage can at April and knocks her off a car!! Dude, as a card carrying non-supporter of April, I CHEERED. But of course he felt bad. Wuss. Enter Hun and I was wondering how he got a sai and..nunchuck maybe? Guess he'd been doin some bragging.
*Agrees with Hun though. THese turtles have GOT to be clones*
Some more unimportant stuff happens and then we get to the end where the other three turtles show up. DUDE! Raph's got a BLUETOOTH! No wonder Don can't fnd Splinter. He's too busy making Bluetooths and helicopters and new trucks. Poor guy. When I get depressed I eat chocolate not make electronics. But we all have our vices.
Ohhh token Splinter mentioning! And Don is reminded that he is supposed to be emo this season (Really that part just sucked and had no real reason for it) Especially considering that not two seconds later everyone is "Oh well! Happy group hug!"
My final conclusion: Loved seeing the guy from Gremlins, and this season should be nicknamed Teenage Mutant Manic-Depressive Turtles.

Beautiful episode. Nice change from the usual style and plot of the others.
The men's waists are WAY too small and disproportionate. I thought Casey's was small- absolutely nothing compared to Hun's horrendously big chest and pecs and microscopic waist.
Raph centric episode. I'm still waiting for a Leo one. He has not even spoken all that much in this season.

Episode Found On Youtube.
Now that... was pretty damn good! Loved seeing Hun and the Purple Dragons again, the plot was actually pretty cool, and all around it felt like a good, solid episode of the regular series.
The complete absence of the "cyber-world" gimmick probably helped with that. And y'know what? I just realized that Serling was absent from this episode, which kinda shows how forgettable and pointless his character is.
Definitely the best of the season so far, and I hope this level of quality continues.

I loved this episode! 5/5
I about died seeing Casey's suit and top hat. He's so dorky sometimes.
Just some rhetorical questions that popped in my head watching this:
1. How does Raph know where to get good prices on engagement rings? :P
2. Why couldn't April figure out Casey was trying to propose? :P
3. Why was Hun blushing when he saw Raph?:dead:
4. Why was the old man walking away from Casey and Raph while he was still speaking and then tells them to follow him if they want to save April? Does he have creepy disappearing abilities?
5. Why does Casey wash his dishes at April's apartment? Doesn't he even have a sink at his place?
6.Did Mikey really say he wanted to be the maid of honor and throw a bachelor party?

Hot damn this is this best episode yet!! 8)
First of all the scene with Casey proposing to April was so sweet.
Hun is back and the Purple Dragons are better looking then ever (both physically and as an organization)
I told you guys that he would say "Aw crude" when he saw the turtles. :P
Evil April was just plain awsome.
Mikey being the maid of honour...I'd love to see that actually.
By far the best episode. My only issue is that the old dude's name was Mr. San...seriously!! That basically means his name is Mr. Mister. And of course Don being so darn emo as well as Leo doing nothing too interesting so far. I also agree that the whole "I wanna play you for the rest of my life" line was just too funny.
Edit: D'oh!! His name's Mr. SUN!! Well it's not nearly as cheasy as San but, it still is in a way.

1. He prolly shops around in his spare time or has just been to that shop and saw it, not that hard to believe considering we're watching a show about mutant turtles that are ninjas.

3. Because he lied to the men bellow him in his gang and it made him look like a fool.
4. Have no idea as this is the first time we've seen him, but he's your typical mystical old asian man stereo type used on shows and in movies.

It was a pretty good epsiode.
I mean if your a true TMNT fan, then the proposal was something, we we;re all waiting for to happen.
But cred' to the writers for the adding in the twist of the ring being the evil ring of yin, and thus possessing April's body for most of the epsiode, to the point that she was transformed into a yin bat demon.
Then the climax, were after Casey learns that he is the one that's got to take the ring off April since he was the one to put in on her in the first place, was great, finally showing that Casey can get the job done, when montavated correctly.
Overall, very good epsiode. Even had a spot in there for Donnie when Master Splinter is mentioned by Mikey.
And it looks like the one of the final epsiodes will be April and Casey's wedding, that is, unless they save it for next season.
PS. Anyone notice when April's transformation to the bat demon occurred, that the blackness ripped though her skin and changed her hair style and color. The reason I say this, is because those are the kinds of TF's are some of my favorite kind.
Till Next time.

Is it just me or does Demon April look a lot like something Tsutomu Nihei could have come up with.
And this is the first episode of the season that I actually kind of liked. It was a glorified toy commercial, yes, but the engagement... well, it wasn't a typical "Let's bonk someone on the head"-episode. Speaking of which, Hun has a really tiny head.
But I must now buy the following toys:
TMNT Extreme BTTS Copter
Casey Jones Extreme BTTS Paddleboat
Casey Jones Extreme BTTS Paddleboat - Special Swan Edition
Purple Dragons Copter
Purple Dragons bike
Purple Dragons Hun's Bike
BTTS Hun

BTTS Demon April
BTTS Demon April - Special Cunnilingus Edition
BTTS Raph's Bike
BTTS Raph's Bike - Special Glow in the Dark Edition

Masc (sorry I can't recall the rest of your name!) you do an awesome job of reviewing! Keep it up!
Thanks! :D
Okay, I must say that this was a good episode, probably the best of the one's we've seen so far. Sucks that we're only getting a rerun already, but they used to do this before. There'll be another probably month-long break in December, if they do what they did in the previous years...
Anyways, here's my thoughts...
Why is Raphael not in a REAL disguise? I would think that people would Still be scared of a green-faced noseless guy with a three fingered hand.
Poor Casey... He's so twitterpated in this episode. The idea of settling down and being a 'hubby' would scare any guy. "I love you like Gretzsky likes Hockey"... A true Warrior Poet. :P The kiss under the moonlight was very sweet, too. And then "GOONGALA"... moment, dead.
That ring is butt-ugly..
My god, Hun's voice is back. Thank god... I Loved his voice in the first seasons. He does break back to the ickier voice when they surround April,
Holy crap, April's hostile with that ring. I was half-waiting to hear a comment about 'that time of the month'. The flesh-tone beard was a little creepy, but the floating and voice was fun...
"...and we shall sacrifice oxen upon our altar!" Best line of the episode..
When I was first watching April's rampage through town and down to the sewers, I was wondering if her possessor was some sort of river/frog spirit, but that may have been short-minded thinking.
Quick, get her some butter! That'll take rings off easy...
Hun's reaction to Raphael's appearance was humorous, but the facial expressions bothered me. It was that exagerrated, anime-ish cartoonish stuff. I know it's a kid show, but please... we had better animation than that. And most of the episode was good otherwise.
The explanation of Yin and Yang was interesting, and I loved the dragons drawn. There's still a lot of potential with what they can create for this show..
There's nothing quite like a threat of dismemberment to get the evil pumping thorugh the veins! Giant demon April was.... unusual. I like the face, the wings looked like a bad Tribal tattoo..
And as for the convenient presence of the turtles in a HELICOPTOR.... They must've had to pry Donnie from his laboratory with a backhoe and some chains. And Where is the friggen NYPD?! Two helicoptors in the air, battling around this giant demon... The explosions (and possible deaths) were a surprise.
(Ya know, with all these air battles and weird critters, I would expect that with the amount of crap that happens to NYC with ALL of the different heroes and universes there are, NYC would have one monster budget, along with some copters to help with situations like this. I shudder to think of the poor souls that have to deal with THOSE costs..)
Seeing The guys chase down after April and Casey, my first thought was that those Blades are going to cut them to ribbons. But the day is saved, and the old man is returned. I almost thought he was a thinner, taller version of the Ancient One, but then the boys did the whole, "Hey, he reminds us of our dad." and Don's sudden return to "I killed our Dad, I suck", before Everybody's laughing and Happy and and needing their Bipolar medicine...
Still, overall I liked the episode. It's a big step in the story plotline, hopefully it will go well, and.... I hope we get some new eps after this next weekend.

there was some good underlaying violence in this episode, what with the with Casey throwing a trash can at April and Hun threatening to cut off April's finger. I wasn't POed at April getting hit by the trash can really because I just thought that April was just taken by suprise. And I don' why people are commenting on Raphael's clothes in the beginning of the episode. The hoody, cap and baggy jeans. It's no diffrent from the clothes the turtles wore in Fallen Angel except he wasn't wearing sunglasses and he was a bit more forthcoming toward people he was around. I didn't think Raphael's jokes where lame in this episode and they where in character, I liked seeing Raphael ragging on Casey and making him feel uncomfertable by saying that April was out of his league lol! I'm also glad that the whole searching for an engagement ring thing was only in the first few minutes of the show and didn't stretch out through the whole thing.
And I think Hun has definately moved up in the world with all his souped up gadgets and equipment **sings MOVING ON UP** he now has his own sky scraper and everything, but I was wondering, is Hun's new hide out the same building as the Shredder's sky scraper? And just why the heck does he have a geisha around? is she actually a geisha or is she some high class prostitute? :ohwell: If she has her obi tied in the front that would mean she is a japanses prostitute not a geisha. Maybe Hun has branched the purple dragons activities into running prostitution on the side. It could explain why he dresses like a pimp now, he probably is one part time. :o
I liked seeing how Casey has improved in his fighting abilites, those karate lessons really improved his skills. He's not a full out karat expret since he is still obviously a street fighter, but his fighting now seems alot more refined, like he actually knows what he's doing, instead of just swinging around a hockey stick like a chimp with a machette. He was pulling some nice moves against the monsters, did any one notice how he swung his body up on the fire escape and wraped his ankles around the monsters neck and swung him down to the ground? Casey is finnally moving away from his bumbling ways and becoming a badass again. Thankyou writers.
My only gripe about this episode was that I thought there could have had better use of angling and shawdowing. What I liked about the the new toon was it's use of angles to show action and shadowing to give areas and characters deminsion and menace. Those monsters could have used some more shadow work and the angles when April was hanging upside down, and when they went in the sewers. I mean hello! They are under ground it shouldn't look so bright down there. HAd this been done in the earlier seasons they would have made the most of shadowing and and played up the creepy aspects of April possesion a bit more. Speaking of April, I really liked her acting all animalistic it was cool, I do wish the had kept April's possesion more grounded by not making her fly around and then turn into a extravgant flying bat. It was ok but I think she would have looked more demonic if she had just stayed moving around like a beast on all fours and climbing up walls and hanging upside down. The flesh colored pertrusions on her chin and the markings on her cheeks would have been sufficent in my book. Although the design was cool, the flying bat demon she turned into looked to over done and took away from her threatening persona.
I guess others didn't like this but I got a kick out of April flying off the handle and throwing the dishes at Casey because he didn't dry the dishes before putting them into the cabinets. that's one of my pet peeves so I can relate. but really April should be happy Casey even bothers to wash his dishes after he uses them instead of just leaving them in the sink. Not alot of boyfriends are considerate enough to do that so April should count her self lucky, and lucky that Casey's only responce was to meekly ask her if she still wanted to marry him. :|

Favorite part of the episode: the yin (nin) dragon eating the yang (yo) dragon... Of course yin and yang are not necessarily good and evil but whatever. simplify it for the kids. Anyway, liked that one bit of animation.
Overall, the ep was the best of the four but still very mediocre and... lacking smoothness, sophistication, and... I dunno it's closer to darkwing duck than DC bruce timm-designed stuff...
Raph's disguise was -- well, the whole thing around that others have already covered. Come on, a magical ring from out of the blue -- we'll never hear of it again...
Ok, still waiting for an episode to have any real meaning that will cause things to thicken or move forward or get interesting.

Am I the only one that thought "Pet Shop of horrors" when they saw the inside of the asian guys shop? I mean look at it:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/Harmophious/oldguyshop.png
The fact that this place is obviously in china town I was half expecting a mysterious transexual to walk out and hand Casey and Raph a evil pet. But it was just a mysterious asian guy who handed them a evil ring of doOoOom! :shifty:
Actually this Mr. Sun guy is interesting, the fact that he had this evil incarnate ring with majical properties must mean he up to something. Unless he is just one of those kinds of guys who just likes collecting evil baubles I'm guessing he might play a hand in some thing later on. Maybe he is Splinter's conscienceness that he astral projected from his bits in the cyber world into a physical form in an effert to help the turtles out. There had to be some reason why Mikey was prompted into commenting that the old guy reminded him of someone, and Don not so subtlely telling the audiance that it's Splinter Mr. Sun reminds him of. At least I would like it to be more than just a random reminder that Don is still grieving and he has an actual connection to Splinter. By the way did any one get a slight WTF reaction when Mr. Sun was monologing about the ring?
He was like "the ring of darkness now returns to darkness" **pocket sring** "to wence it came" ...
It was just weird how he punctuated the ring returing to darkness with simply putting it into his pocket like that. I guess putting evil incarnate rings into your pocket is a sure fire way of keeping it safe. :tsweatdr:
Any way about Hun angsting over the return of Shredder because the foot is being reinstated, what do you think Karai is up too? Did any one notice his little geisha/prostatute assistant? Wouldn't it be a real twist if she turned out to be Karai in disguise to keep tabs on Hun and what he is doing? If she is masqurading as a concubine in Hun's hide out as a way to spy on him that would explain where she's been this whole time.

Casey was cute in this episode. He must really love April alot if he was just let her throwing a hissy fit on him in stride. Evil guys search for ring, old weird man gives ring for free, April wears ring, you just knew that it was going to happen. And when she then chucked dishes around, you know you've entered the phase where the generic evil artifact plot began.

Alright, just You Tubed episode 4, "The Engagement Ring".
Now THIS is what I'd been wanting from the show. April and Casey's character progression kicks up a serious notch, which is great, as their relationship has flowed so naturally over the past 6 seasons (well, the first 5 seasons, really). Slapstick comedy not withstanding, seeing Casey propose was great.
Hun's criminal empire seems to have risen at a steady pace, as well. I'm pleased, since that was one of the unresolved arcs from season 4 that got mostly ignored during season 5 and I was really interested in it. Good to see him develop the Purple Dragons into a real Foot-level organization while the Turtles were gone for a year.
I'm *really* interested in seeing what happens when the time comes for the Dragons to throw down with the Foot. I wanna see how Hun confronts the Shredder (or ShredderS, maybe).
This is what I'd been wanting from Back to the Sewers. No erling or Cyber World or whatever. This episode really felt like it was from the first 4 seasons, which is definately a positive.
April's design still hasn't clicked with me. Gonna take longer than I thought.

A great episode that really paid tribute to how long this series has been on the air, and how well the relationship with April and Casey has been handled in the series. April throwing the dishes was, of all her moments with Casey, one of the best because it's the first real slap of co-habiting reality for some of us...and it just makes their love look much deeper for them to be as aggresive as that around each other knowing one of them will play the good solider and comfort the other later. Casey was thoroughly matured in this episode, taking control of the rescue mission and saving April from the ring.
Hun gaining ground with his Purple Dragon army brings his character to a new level of admiration and maturity. From a heavy, to his own man, he has brought The Purple Dragons up from scratch to a power that takes a demon to slightly dent.
My only flaw is April returning to her human form came with that ridiculous animation cliche we've seen in the 1980s Incredible Hulk series and the original TMNT series...namely, April resumed her original look and clothes. Now that you mention it is weird that when April turned back to human she still had clothes on. I don't see why the couldn't have had her turn back to normal with her hair loose and nude. There are ways around showing this that don't involve actually showing the nudidty. Gargoyals had a situation where the character Fox was turned into a wolf and when she detransformed she was shown to collapse naked on the ground (in front of every body) with enough shots to show she had no clothes before she was covered up. It could have been handled like that but I guess they didn't want Casey and the boys to see her naked or something. I dunno.

"We shall sacrifice oxen on the altar!" Best. Quote. Ever.
I gotta give Casey respect points, even when April was going nuts on him, he still wanted to marry her.
Creepy Mr. Miyagi...
And seeing Hun again is nice.
I find it weird Don goes emo at Creepy Mr. Miyagi, then goes glomping with everyone... :o
I have to admit Monster!April is actually nicely designed.
So yay, April and Casey! Congrats!

I know most favorite turtle is Leonardo but still I see that complaining about he having little role in this season is futile. I mean he had season 4 and 5 mostly about him. Espesially season 5 where Leo kept most of the opening acts,he was "chosen one" by the tribunal. I think it is other turtles time to shine.
yeah maybe it's about time RAPH gets a season..
they've all been featured thru the years...it's about time Raphers gets the spotlight.

This episode was really good. It was nice to see Raph and Casey back together kicking butt like they used to. This is what I've missed. I loved Casey's proposal and the fact that he would fight for April at any cost. That showed that he's truly a good guy. Any guy who's willing to fight for their girl is good in my book.
It was nice to see Hun and the Dragons again. It looks like Hun is just running the Dragons and has abandoned the Foot. Looks like he got some new weapons too.
April being possessed was cool. I loved the oxen line as well and Casey's reaction to it was priceless. I'm glad Casey saved the day, though the Turtles did help a little. It showed how much he has changed throughout the series and how he has matured.
Don's reaction to Mikey's comment was expected, but then he turned happy at the prospect of the wedding. It seemed a little off to me. Mikey's maid of honor line did make me laugh, but it also sounded wrong as well.
Overall, this was a good ep. I can't believe we're getting a rerun next week.

My final conclusion: Loved seeing the guy from Gremlins, and this season should be nicknamed Teenage Mutant Manic-Depressive Turtles.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought that. Maybe there will be a small Gizmo cameo lol.
Overall, really good episode. I enjoyed it. Glad to see it wasn't a group episode. Hopefully this will happen more. I would have been pissed if Serling was in the helicopter just to put him in the episode. but yeah, good stuff this past Sat.

Hmm...
Well, the tux thing was dumb. Do we really need silly gags, still? I get that Casey is bumbling.
Possibly, the funniest part of this ep. will be April totally NOT paying attention to Casey's ramblings of love. Haha... And her almost horrifyed/disgusted face. That was priceless.
Why, why do they put the ring on the wrong hand? That drives me insane. It's stupid.
'Ever since I proposed April's been acting weird'. Haha, welcome to bridezilla land, honey. Look forward to married life!
Don's 'That's too close.' was fairly amusing.
So, I'm taking it no event can ever happen and not have a huge something accompany it? They can't get engaged and have it be quiet and that's it?
It was an ok episode. Not great, by any means. Really, I was bored almost the entire time, save for the few things I mentioned above. Meh. Mediocre. Nothing I'd watch again. It didn't really interest me.

Jo you really may want to stop watching it's not going to get any better than that, you're only setting yourself up for aggravation and disappointment.
I'm just happy the show is still on the air because soon it may not be with the way things are going.
How are things going that it may not be on the air much longer?
I mean, I'd love for it to remain on the air, but the fact 4Kids hasn't come and said anything to relieve us could be a bad sign?
Then again, he could just be waiting to hear something himself.
However, how are things bad, when it is still drawing good ratings?

I think this is the closest the series is going to get to classic 2k3 and FF. BTTS seems to be the comprimise of the two worlds and so far I think they've done a good job of blending them both. They have a working thing going on here and it seems like a big gamble on 4KIDS and Peter's part to do it this way. I'm not telling any one what to do but I think the best way to enjoy the series from here on out is to put aside your biases and accept that classic 2k3 is over and FF is over, and try to enjoy this new season, which is really a hybrid of both versions, keep in mind that this is basically a transitional season that it still trying to find it legging and only has thirteen episodes to do that. And if this doesn't work out well then BTTS is our last season of this series.
Personly I'm enjoying what I've seen so far, even the cyber space stuff has it's merits and I think this thirteen episode format means no messing around on stupid side stories and getting a another piece of the puzzel that is the plot in every episode. So far I've seen every episode deliver in some way eighther it be plot advancement, set up, a new twist or mystery to the estblished plot or character growth/exploration, this episode here seemed more of of the latter.
I was not a harsh critic of season 6 (FF,) and was able to put bias behind me, due to there needing to be some change for the series.
However, during season 6, I longed for episodes that had more depth.
I agree with the above poster that this feels like a mesh of both worlds, and I could not be happier.
4kids if you read this, please, as a TMNT fan, do not let this show end. You found an awesome balance with the show. Could we at least see 1-2 more seasons of 26 episodes? I will give you a dollar. That's 1/4 a gallon of gas, come on. :P
In all honesty though, this show deserves to stay on the air, and I think everything they've done with season 7 so far, is awesome.
I will even retract my statements about the animation quality, as I find it to be very nice. I don't even mind how Chaotic looks now, so long as every season of TMNT for now on, looks like this season.

I was thinking the same thing. When I first saw those monsters I thought that Raph would scream about why the monsters always have to be bugs or something.
Agreed, I was a little disappointed that he didn't. I was like "Oh come on! They did it in Fast Forward!"

Well, I've thought about it. But then I can't have an opinion about it. You can't have an opinion and be uninformed. And I love the turtles, truly. I want it to succeed, so I think that's why I'm so critical. I've spent most of my life rooting them on and I hate to see it go so low, when so much potential lies in there.
But really, my big question is this: Do people really think that this is great writing? Or just great for what it is? I'm truly perplexed.

For me its good for what it is. I've come to accept that season 1-4 are gone and are never coming back and theres nothing I can do about it. Just like I did with Ninja Tribunal and Fast Forward I'm choosing the lesser of two evils. I just keep telling myself it could be worse they could be stuck in the future with a kid sidekick fighting an evil alien wrestler.
Frankly I dont think its a bad episode nor was it extremely medioce although there are things I would have liked to have seen in an episode as important as April and Casey's engagement. I was hoping for a better reaction out of Don to the engagmement but whatever.

What do you mean YOU PEOPLE!?!
Anyway I'm fine with it as I was a fan of the old toon as have pretty much seen the best and worst of what the franchise has to offer.
You'll have the good and bad in life and you have to take both for what they are.
I love the Turtles, I grew up with both the silly ones in my kid years and then as I went into my teens was introduced to the world of Mirage which even had it's silly side at points.
The same goes for the art we have very wonderful realist art like that of A.C. Farley and then we have the goofy Sunday comic strip art of Jim Lawson.
Not everything is going to be great, or like how it used to be especially when the person (persons) backing the series think what they are doing is great and the one man who really can make a difference doesn't really give a flying sh1t about the property as long as it's what he wants and checks are in the mail.
Do I think this is good writing, in what context?
If you mean for a kids series then yes, it's ok. It's not ground breaking by any means but it's most definitely the worst of the drivel I've seen on television these days.
The only other cartoons I enjoy these days are ones that either make me laugh like Flapjack or take me on a great sense of other worldly adventure like the Spectacular Spider-Man.
If I was looking at this as a show for adult viewers then no, I would consider the witting to be horrible.
I think what allot of people seem to forget about the first few seasons of this show is that they are almost directly based on comics and they've had years to fine tune these stories adding new elements and at the same time taking things out to make them kid friendly.
With these new writers they have to come up with brand new concepts and don't have 15+ years to think over a story they're lucky they have a few months to come up with an entire seasons worth of material for the viewing audience.
Quite frankly I find many people to be overly harsh of these new episodes (something I'm quite fine with as they have a nice longevity to them something missing in earlier episodes because I've heard those tales a millions already both on screen and on paper) not really adding anything to the mix themselves of any value yet all they do is complain about how horrible the series is.
But the people b1tching about such things need to realize amateurs and up and comers who have never worked with the TMNT are writing these episodes and they will never be like those of stories told by the creative minds of Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird because they're not them and never will be.
I don't mind when people complain about an episode, a character, or a writer (be constructive about it not just destructive).
But how about they write just exactly how they would write them so they are not a cliche' or boring.
This is what get's me is that people love to complain a good deal in this life but they rarely ever try to help, and this is one of the major things that make good people stop caring because all they ever see is negativity.
If you could take anything away from this weeks episode it should be the dark with the light, you can't have one without the other, yet so many focus on the dark side of things.
As they say one mans junk is another mans treasure, I guess Jo turtles are that Pot of happiness gold at the end of the rainbow for me and it doesn't matter what they look like or who writes them at this point in my life as long as they don't fade away into obscurity again.
You could say I'm just holding onto fond memories of the past or using them as sort of a "security blanket" if you will but I really don't care.
The fact of the matter is when I was going through hard times in my life and still do I find allot of comfort in the adventures of 4 green mutated turtles, no matter who is behind them.

But really, my big question is this: Do people really think that this is great writing? Or just great for what it is? I'm truly perplexed. It's great for a Saturday morning cartoon. (Alright, maybe just good for a Saturday morning carton.)
Truth is the Turtles have never actually had great writing outside of comics, and even there it's a real mixed bag. They've had edgy writing, intricate writing, on TV, and the first four seasons could easily be called great for what they were.
These episodes, I agree with you, aren't the best. I almost feel like I'm watching for the plot ideas and ignoring the execution (because it's adding stories to the Turtles mythos, but not doing anything remarkable on its own.) Still, they'll do for the medium they're working with. They'll do.

Ok, I'm at work and totally can't comment on everything right now, hehe... But:
What do you mean YOU PEOPLE!?!
I never said 'you people', silly! :P
And I get you have to take the good with the bad... I guess, though, I just don't see as much good, as per the writing lately. Though I am fairly finicky with writing in general, in anything.
I think what allot of people seem to forget about the first few seasons of this show is that they are almost directly based on comics and they've had years to fine tune these stories adding new elements and at the same time taking things out to make them kid friendly.
I didn't forget that. ;)

This is true; it will never be Laird and Eastman stuff being written here. But, wow. If I were writing something (and when I DO) I make sure to do research. Write things and have them looked over to make sure it's realistic for the characters I'm writing for. Maybe... they just don't have the chance to do that? Though I find that hard to believe (I'd be up all night doing it), it may be the truth.
In that case, then it's the fault of the people running the show to make sure they get people who are at least a tad informed, and that they know can handle this job. If not, then shame on them. That's just not caring and laziness.
I don't mind when people complain about an episode, a character, or a writer (be constructive about it not just destructive).
But how about they write just exactly how they would write them so they are not a cliche' or boring.

I would LOVE the chance to write these differently and help out. Unfortunately, I don't have that chance or option. But I can, if it would help people with criticism.
As they say one mans junk is another mans treasure, I guess Jo turtles are that Pot of happiness gold at the end of the rainbow for me and it doesn't matter what they look like or who writes them at this point in my life as long as they don't fade away into obscurity again.
Well, I love them too. I guess that's why I nitpick. Because I want them to be the best they can be, and they are not being that right now, nor have they been for the past few seasons. They are going to fade away again if it continues to be written by the uninformed, the unready, and if it's handled (allover) the same way as it has been. As a throwaway show. But it's not and it shouldn't be. It's my passion for it that causes me to not be able to take less than mediocrity. And I don't want the TMNT to be remembered as being 'mediocre', or anything less than fantastic.

Hm it may be just me but didn't it look like the April Demon had a kinda veil covering her face? I thought it was kinda neat. Sort of symbolizing the whole marriage thing. Plus the grey hair kinda just added to the look I thought.
I have to say though honestly that I'm liking Back to the sewer. Then again I liked fast forward too, but fast forward was actually the season that made me actually interested in watching the new toon. For years the main reason I was so turned off by it was not just because of nostalgia. It was because people only thought it was cool because it was "dark, edgy, etc." compared to the campy style of the old toon. Also while I like the character depth and actual good storylines that the new toon has produced I've actually enjoyed the more "humourous" seasons way more than the super serious ones. I don't know I just like the turtles having fun and being themselves. Not a bunch of over serious angst machines that need to be serious every second of the episode.
Not that; that's the case for the new toon, but sometimes it feels like that's what most people want and honestly I feel that would just kill some of the fun and enjoyment of it. I don't mind the turtles having a serious side to them but I like the new direction that was taken when they brought out fast forward. I liked that in most cases you didn't even need to think about the overall plot. You could just sit back, watch the turtles antics, and be entertained. It's almost that kind of feeling like you're watching the old cartoon but with better versions of the turtles and surprisingly nefarious villains.
While Back to the sewers goes back to a more serious plotline. I feel like a balance has finally been found., and I'm enjoying every minute of it. While the first five seasons took a more serious and realistic approach to the turtles and their personalities and fast forward was all about the lulz factor. Back to the Sewers isn't too serious and yet it's not all about the funny either. I think that's a great thing and it's what has made this season pretty awesome thus far. Honestly I can't wait to see more.
and that's all I really wanna say on the subject.

If I was looking at this as a show for adult viewers then no, I would consider the witting to be horrible.
Oh, come on. If this was a show for adults, the turtles would sit around, doing random drugs, making dumb pop culture references from the 80's, and they'd make the same tired joke about April being a slut or something over and over. And we'd have plotlines like "April has sex with one of the Transformers, while Mikey smokes pot" or something. Yeah, that stuff was funny the first 8 billion times, but now it's old hat. :tcouch:
Fact of the matter is that the writing here is better than half those "We've seen Family Guy and Aqua Teen, now let's make an inferior clone" Adult Swim type shows.
That said, here's a question....
Hun said that he took the turtles weapons as trophies, yet Raph had both his sai. Now, here's my theory... Either Hun bought/stole weapons off of someone else, or the Turtles just have draws full of them. I'm going with the Hun theory.

See, at the risk of getting flamed, I'm going to agree with Jo Dawn. Just because I don't "OMG I LOVE THE NEW SERIES" does not make me less of a TMNT fan. It doesn't make me elitest and it doesn't make me a horrible fan. The new series set a precident for itself with the first few seasons that it is not living up to IMO.
I will go on record: I don't mind the 2D animation. I don't mind the cyber world arc. I don't mind the plot line (even tho I want to start a witch hunt for the damn fool who wrote out Splinter for the season). I don't NEED or want a dark toned cartoon. I DO expect a bit of depth to the characters. The one thing that I LOVED about the new toon (2k3 version) is that the characters seemed to grow in minute ways. SOmething that I can't say of the old toon. Very rarely (and I didn't watch the red sky seasons) did one week's episode carry over to the next. There was a family aspect to this toon that the old didn't seem to have.
That's what I'm looking for and what I'm missing in this season. Depth of character. With the exception of Don, I don't see any....emotion that isn't fleeting from one second to the next. (and even after this past week's you see him go from sad to "happy group hug" in 2.5 seconds) The problem with 13 episodes just might be that you can't get that depth. You have to jump straight to action and the "What" and skip the "why and how." I feel like I'm reading a fanfic that each chapter skips to "Five weeks later" and it gives me nothing about what might have happened in those five weeks. And those five weeks are crucial to character development.
As for the whole "dark tone" thing. As I said, I am not an angst lover. Read my fics (shameless plug for the author known as Splinter). I am a comedy writer. But the writers set a plot line that SHOULD be somber. IF you want a happy go lucky story line, write it. But don't take out a key member of the family and then not show me the effect of missing a member. And DON'T show me that its having no effect. (with the exception of Don) because I'm gonna yell BS.
I want TMNT to succeed. I wish BttS would take the fandom to new heights. It's not horrible. But I can't say that I love it. I think it's a very shallow representation of the characters thus far.

wow, just wow. when the hell has the 2k3 series been as dark and brooding as you have described it here? It seems to me you where one of those fans that wouldn't give the new toon a chance incitionally because it wasn't the old toon. People don't want their characters who are ready to slit their necks because they're so misrable they want depth of character and evolution over time. You're really over stating the dark serious elements of the series before FF, it wasn't nearly as oppressive as you are making it out to be.

wow, just wow. when the hell has the 2k3 series been as dark and brooding as you have described it here?
I'm not saying it was dark all the time. But on other forums I frequent I've seen a lot that the main reasons that people like the new toon is because it has "darker themes" and it's more edgy (like decapitating shredder for instance not to mention human foot soldiers and references to death and what not). As if that's all a cartoon needs to be good in America. Honestly I'm not looking for TMNT to be the next Batman: TAS or anything.
It seems to me you where one of those fans that wouldn't give the new toon a chance incitionally because it wasn't the old toon.
I did point out the nostalgia factor being a reason of why it also turned me off at first, and honestly if you hadn't read the comics the changes from the old toon were going to seem really awkward as well.
Besides while I've watched every episode of the new toon and I enjoy it far more than the old toon. I don't hate the old toon with a passion now either and wonder what I ever saw in it. I was actually watching some past episodes of the old toon yesterday and despite the campiness only surpassed by the 60s Batman show with Adam West and the corny jokes. Not to mention the syndication and sometimes off voice acting. It was still very entertaining and I loved it just as much as when I was a kid. I guess at heart I'm still a child.
People don't want their characters who are ready to slit their necks because they're so misrable they want depth of character and evolution over time. You're really over stating the dark serious elements of the series before FF, it wasn't nearly as oppressive as you are making it out to be.
Compared to FF and BTTS? Yeah they kinda were. The first five seasons had a much darker feel kinda like the first live action movie in a way, and showed a more realistic view of the turtles life style than the old toon did. I'm not saying that there was never any humor in the first five seasons but you got to admit the majority of those seasons were not very light-hearted.
And we'd have plotlines like "April has sex with one of the Transformers, while Mikey smokes pot" or something. Yeah, that stuff was funny the first 8 billion times, but now it's old hat. :tcouch:
There's probably a fanfic on that.
See, at the risk of getting flamed, I'm going to agree with Jo Dawn. Just because I don't "OMG I LOVE THE NEW SERIES" does not make me less of a TMNT fan. It doesn't make me elitest and it doesn't make me a horrible fan.
Honestly it seems to me like you get flamed more if you don't think the new series is a pile of suck compared to the early seasons. That seems more elitist but that's just me.

How is Hun threatening to cut off April's finger because she wouldn't remove the ring not "dark and edgy?"
WTF?
Aside from animation, this show hasn't changed its themes since Season 1.

so seriously now does any one think that Mr. Sun is some how connected to Splinter? Or that we might see him again, or was he just a victim of the week character?

Nobody said it wasn't dark and edgy.
Heck with back to the sewers I agree with others when they say a balance has finally been found. I like the balance that back to the sewers has so far given us and I can't wait to see more of it. In fact I've even said this in past posts.

I like the new BTTS season. Besides April's new look, it isn't bad. I do hope the other three turtles show some kind of character dept though.
Sadly, BTTS hasn't been renewed yet for 2009. Anyone else feel like writting some letters to 4kidstv on the subject?

I'm loving BTTS right now, and even if it's not 2k3 level right now (which is debatable) it's a step up from FF IMO and and it's a good blend of both versions (I know I sound like a broken record right now) I wouold write to 4KIDS to to tell them to renew BTTS for 2009, if I thought it would make any diffrence. I think the only language 4KIDS will understand is ratings and I think that is the only thing that would persuade 4KIDS to do another BTTS season for the new year.
I have a theory... Might be a long shot but I am throwing it out there.
What if Hun is telling the truth. What if he did somehow handle the Turtles, and claimed their weapons.
This season has the theme of time in the tiniest form, but enough that he could really think they are clones.
However, he could be a big fibber.
If 4Kids ends this show, I am done with them. It isn't like they have another show worth watching honestly. My son doesn't even care for 4Kids outside of TMNT. I would never even tune into the CW4kids or 4Kidstv if it wasn't for the TMNT... Anything else like Sonic X, and well, nothing else really, all come out on DVD.
I guess if TMNT ends, it will be time to watch that new X-Men cartoon on Nick.
Of course I hope this show goes on for as long as they have good stories to tell, and as a writer, it isn't hard to come up with good stories if you have a good imagination.
DON'T LET THIS SHOW DIE!!! In my eyes, 4Kids wouldn't be anything without it. Face it, Chaotic isn't going to last forever. It's just another cartoon based off a card game, and there's tons of those. Nothing special like the TMNT.

hmm, I wonder if Hun might lose the respect of the purple dragons now that he's been caught in a lie, and lose control of his position now.
What I don't get is why Hun thought he could get away with saying he killed off the turtles when he had no real proof they where actually dead. For he knew they where just missing and it's not like the turtles have never gone missing for long periods of time only to suddenly show up. Hun was eighther being really stupid or he got too full of himself.

I agree. They should continue turtles even after Cyber Shredder is history. Maybe bring in Bishop again or maybe make Hun the main villain of an arc for a change. That'd be pretty cool.

Personally, I would to have loved to see him try, only for the blade to get vaporized. i wonder if they even put that in the original script. I mean, if it has a fail safe so it can't be removed by anyone else, wouldn't it only make sense for it not to be able to be cut off?

I hope to god they continue this show.
Bishop could've easily been in this season or should, seeing as Stockman is.
Remember... According to the future Stockman, and Bishop were still working together years after the Turtles left.
I hope the writers don't catch themselves up on that.
You know Bishop came out of nowhere. I believe he was a brand new villian for this show correct? He wasn't in anything before this show started I assume. If this is the case, then why not create another new villian.
In all honesty I thought Bishop was much better then Shredder. He had the moves, and the character, and made a great villian, and still could, until his wake up call.
However, creating someone as cool as Bishop is all up to how well someone thinks.

I like how the character designs on the Purple Dragons. They look more like mercanaries than street punks. Also nice new location for the purple dragons' strong hold on crime and weapons.
Makes me wonder if the Turtles and Casey will ever defeat Hun before the end of the season or left unsolve.

I'd love to see Bishop come back but after season 3 and 4 of having him as a major villain so to speak it's hard to see what more you could do with Bishop. Especially after his change of heart in fast forward. Still I'd love to see Bishop back in action anyways.
As for Hun. I honestly wish they would make him a main villain already. Heck if they're so obsessed with having a Shreadder for every major season why not just make Hun wear the mantle of the Shredder instead of making Cyber Shredder. Would have ben cooler in my view. Plus it could have totally worked since the foot collapsed and Karai probably really isn't interested in it anymore. Least she didn't seem to be at the end of the ninja tribunal arc.

I'm sure she'll show up. 4Kids showed on the TMNT blog the new design of Karai. Plus we've only seen 4 episodes until now, so there is plenty of time for her to show up.

Makes me wonder if the Turtles and Casey will ever defeat Hun before the end of the season or left unsolve.I don't think that really needs to be solved. There will always be organized crime in New York (City At War, anyone?), and the Turtles aren't super-heroes. Hun doesn't really seem to have a personal vendetta against them.

The animation keeps getting better - the animators must be getting used to the designs. Still nothing too mindblowing, but nicer-looking is always welcome.
I thought this story had some definite OT tone in it - even the simple act of proposing has to develop into a crazy monster story, with April turning into some mindless demon. I ended up being interested more in continuity stuff than the actual plot - Hun's introduction/claim to have killed the Turtles, for one. And I loved to see Raph back in "disguise," though I agree that the getup worked much better with scarf and shades. Oh, and Casey/Raph stuff was nice and felt more "back to normal." As did Casey's Gretsky comment.
Overall... I just feel neutral on this one. I liked some bits, facedesked for others... no strong feelings either way. I hope this season throws me at least one episode I can get really pumped over, but in the meantime I'll just watch it and not expect too much.

That's true if you put it that way, speaking of organized crime, that New York Mob from that City at War episodes haven't made an appearance since then. But I have no hopes of them making a come back.

hey I just thought of something! Where is Ruffington? In season five Ruffington was shown to be working under Hun as like the equivilant of Karai's Chaplin and Bishiop's Baxter. I rather liked the idea of Ruffington being hun's man for some reason. To bad he wasn't shown to still be working with Hun any more. :-?

You know, I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet, but anyone notice April does not live above her store anymore? In fact, I didn't see the store at all. The building has too many windows and fire escape landings indicating multiple floors akin to an apartment building to be it.
So all of a sudden she no longer has her store?

Weeell..it has been a year, although I wouldn't have thought she would have left the store. But now that you mention it, when Raph and Casey were attacked by those demon bug things, it didn't look like the side of the store...if so, wonder who owns it now?

I would love to see karai's daughter from the comics make an appearance. I think it would be a gutsy move on the shows part to have Karai and Chaplin concieve a child during the year the turtles where gone and have her give birth, and thats the reason the foot seems to be disbanded.
What was the name of Karai's daughter in the comics?

I got to see this for the first time today. This is the best episode in this season. I think Casey Jones has really grown up alot in this series he has really come a long way from the hostile raging brute he started off as in his first episode. and the relationship between April and Casey has really blossomed, I remember when all they did was bicker and fight, I'm so glad the got past all that. I really liked seeing the proposal it was cute and sweet, when I saw the expression on April's face when Casey got down on one knee I was scared she was going to say no. :o She looked that freaked out!
I was shocked at some of the visuals that was shown in this episode. The ones where April is acting all possesed seemed pretty messed up, and i'm suprised they where allowed to go that far with some of her "possesed" behavior, seeing as how some parents might find it inappropiate and chilling for children. I got a :o reaction when Casey threw a trash can at April face and then later when Hun threatened to cut off April's finger. I mean Hun is the guy that mutalated Baxter and did it gleefully. Hun is evil and even though he might come off stupid sometimes you gotta remember he is capable of such a thing, if April hadn't been possesed imagine what he could have done to her, and the torture she might have endured?
I thought the other turtles showing up at the end was unneeded, there was no real reason to have them there and it would have been better if it had just been a Casey and Raph team up to save April.

I don't know why you think some of the content in this episode might be seen as "too scarey". This series has had things like this before in past seasons that where more messed up than what happened in this episode.
