So, the official site (http://www.ninjaturtles.com) has a update on the main page that brings you to this:
http://www.ninjaturtles.com/html/crt.html
which has information on the 25th anniversary Shell-ebration.

Watching the promotional video, I am scared....very scared. I hate to sound like a naysayer, but come on. A few of my buddies and I could have probably have made an equally good promo.

Am I alone in my fears?

It's a quick time video, and not on 4kids.

CyberCubed

Ok it worked, and when the girl with Leo's bandana turned around and smiled at the camera it scared the **** out of me. What the hell...

Creepy. The whole thing was hilariously bad, any average person could have made something like this and actually done it better.

Now I understand why people are worried about the 25th anniversary.

o Jester your not, that was f3cking retarded and emberassing to watch.
When Raphael says get a grip in the old toon theme song, I thought to myself yeah some one *cough* Gary*cough*Peter* needs to get a grip with friggin reality.
Oh not to mention that plug of those wonderful toys used in the video that Playmates will be re-releasing for like the 30th time now.

I didn't see the video yet, but exactly what service are these ass monkeys providing? It looks to me as if they're just hired on to expand the Anniversary website... why did we need to know about that, exactly?

Jester

*shrugs* But someone needs to expand the 25th anniversary page, it's ONE PAGE! Seriously, all it has is the count down and the contest.

to p1ss the fans off more at what blind out of touch idiots these people behind the turtles are?
“Our decision to bring CRT/tanaka’ on board for the Shell-ebration was motivated by their expertise and clear knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Turtles,” said Gary Richardson, CEO, Mirage Studios. “CRT/tanaka made a powerful impression with their comic-book inspired proposal and Turtles-inspired video (see below). They brought a great vision, a strong team and a love for all things Turtles to the table.”
Seriously if there wasn't ever more of a reason to kick Gary to the curb before.
“Taking the Turtles on the road in 2009 is a key element of our campaign and something our fans have been clamoring for,” added Richardson.
Seriously, wtf no just no not a single one of us has asked for that, what we want is better quality products! I don't know what fans this guy is listening to but I could give less about some turtlevan driving around the country. I seriously want to punch this man right in the crotch!
“To execute the mobile tour in true Turtles fashion, we knew we needed a partner that would bring energy, creativity, and a spirit that embodied TMNT, and we found that partner in a Cow. From a buzz building, fan engagement perspective, Kicking Cow has a proven track record of successful tour execution. We look forward to their next big ‘road show,” this one starring the Turtles.”
Oh, and the fanboard idea wouldn't have done this, you know I'm seriously starting to get p1ssed off just like Rose and I've had enough of the Middle finger being tossed in the faces of the fans who want to help make this thing right.
Why is it the people at the top are always the ones the screw sh1t up and never understand their own product, it really makes me angry.

Jester

I have yet to see this video, but it all just confirms from the reviews that Peter may still have the creative talent to bring about good animated properties.... But as far as business goes, he and gary need to not only get with the times, but also hire someone who actually gives a shoot...

Turtles has to be one of the top ten worst mis managed properties in history...

I'm not harboring as much Teenage Mutant Ninja Anger as say, Rose seems to be, because I've really enjoyed the creative offerings while Laird's been in charge. What's absolutely infuriating however, is how terrible at promotion and management Laird and Richardson seem to be.

Since the Turtles came back in 2002:
Creative direction - Good
Management - Abysmal, and the proof is in the pudding.

While I have my miffs with certain creative directions, the main focus of my frustration is...

What's absolutely infuriating however, is how terrible at promotion and management Laird and Richardson seem to be.

Exactly that (well, that would be the short version). And as I don't believe there can be any hope creatively as long as management remains unchanged, I really can't support any part of it.

Joining you in what?

Seeing the truth about where the TMNT are headed and why they're headed down the toilet instead of blindly supporting everyone/everything because of some sort of loyalty that Mirage certainly hasn't earned.

That's just the thing. There's nothing proactive that can be suggested. I've questioned many minds on this topic, and they're all unanimous in saying any effort is futile.

And for the record, I hold no bitterness. I am at the point where I find this all just extremely humorous and amusing.

I disagree, Roseagelo. I think the road trip is a bad idea through and through.

Maybe I could see the sense in it if it was specifically geared toward younger kids and stuff, but as part of the retro racket...it's stupid.
Most retro fans are well into their 20's, and even though it's the turtles, the concept of a mobile tour is juvenile. This is a comic book/cartoon franchise, not a rock band.

But enough has been said about the mismanagement of the turtles lately. I'm just enjoying the aspects of it I enjoy for now, because I really don't see the franchise as having long legs past the anniversary.:tneutral:

While it doesn't seem to look like 1980s/1990s Turtlemania in any way whatsoever, I can live with that.

Sounds weird, but I'm also a Dragonball fanboy. Any American who is or ever was deep into the Japanese version of Dragonball knows how much crap American Dragonball fans have to go through. What the Turtles are going through it nothing but sunshine and pepperoni by comparison.

A little more effort wouldn't have hurt.

Depends on where they go. But, yeah, back before TDK came out in theaters there was a Harvey Dent campaign tour bus trying to get people to voe for him as District Attourney of Gotham as part of the viral marketing. As part of that, I also got calls and texts from Gordon, the mob, and the Harvey Dent campaign.

I even got to phone in my vote, too.

But, I still think a mobile tour is a very inefficient marketing tool and advertising dollars better spent elsewhere. Am I alone in thinking this?

It depends on what the goal of such a mobile tour is. I have yet to see a defined goal for any part of the TMNT 25 Shell-abration, so IMO every single penny they're spending is wasted money that could have been spent actually giving us the things we've been asking for. But that would require that they actually care about us.

Nintendo has occasional mall tours for Pokemon, which are HUGELY successful events that offer continued support for the Pokemon video games and trading card game. Whatever Mirage & Co. put together is just going to be laughable because they don't even have anything (worthwhile) for the tour to support.

To put it another way: It'll be like Harvey Dent going on a campaign tour in the weeks before the opening of the next Spider-man movie.
