Greetings, gamers of the internets! This week is yours to relish...

The boys are taking a headlong leap into the world of Online RPG, promising some crazy action and LOTS of inside jokes. In this week's episode, Donatello discovers a large portion of Splinter's data bits inside Mike's online game of Superquest. The boys are forced to enter the programs, donning the clothes and abilities of those in the game; Changelings, wizards, knights and one very pissy Jester.

Now, the size of the location they're searching is Enormous. But using Don's ever helpful techno gadgets, it should be considered an easy job, right? Unfortunately, not...

Their efforts meet a new obstacle when Splinter's data bits are pooled into a large competition. In order to get their father's remnants back, must compete in a massive free-for-all to retrieve the two keys needed to open the treasure chest. So now they have to go against every gamer imaginable, from camping newbs to the 30-something hardcore gamer that still lives in their parents' basement. Through the L33T and the
LOLs, they must fight their way through the masses and win back their father's data.

And who knows what cheats could be up the sleeve of the infamous "Ultimate Gamer"..?

Having seen this sneak peek, it makes me think of the Battle Nexus. Instead of an old tengu with an "Ultimate Ninja", it's a old Gandolf type with an "Ultimage Gamer". Taking the remaining episodes into account, this SHOULD be a major find in the hopes of returning Splinter to normal. Fortunately, Mike's knowledge of the game will prove to be helpful in beating this game - kinda like when he was (I must say it!) Battle
Nexus Champion!

Let's hope Mike doesn't drive his brothers into considering Team-killing...

And as is necessary, I leave you with these starter questions...

WILL THE TURTLES FIND THE KEYS?!
HOW WILL THEY DEAL WITH THE ULTIMATE GAMER?!
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO SPLINTER'S DATA BITS?!

That's what this series should be called TMNT: Down the Drain.

That was the best freaking punchline ever! I'm sorry, but I don;t think I've ever laughed that hard at this series since the Secret Origins OT reference fest.

It seems like either a leftover concept from FF (especially Raph's "Dahhhrrrg I hate the ______" moments) or a sample script they had for "TMNT Cyberworld." I agree it was a waste though. I was hoping that they would be the last Splinter bits or something meaningful. I liked this season up until the last few episodes, but next week looks like we're getting back to where the season started off... I mean, hard to believe just a few weeks ago they were talking about Casey coming home with other people's blood on his shirt.

Musta been a hit with kids though.

Anyone else think that Raph's costume was obviously patterned after Harley Quinn?

Hun being the green elf gamer in the end was the funniest part of the episode. The second funniest part being when Mikey gave his his excited thumbs up right before the theme song.

If this season was 26 episodes than an ep like this would have been acceptable, but with only 13 eps they shouldn't be wasting eps like this.

It was ok, but I can see why some wouldn't like it.

I think they're going down the path of things like when they continued the X-Files with the second movie this year and, instead of finding things to wrap up (unless they already think they've done enough), are just trying to fill their quota of episodes and hope that they're good enough.

But either way, this episode was pretty funny, especially the first half. First off, Raph was funny throughout. BTW, when I heard him singing in "The King", I was like, "OK Raph, you're not allowed to sing anymore." Now, he's officially barred from doing it no matter what species he is! :lol:
I thought this episode was a pretty good filler although IMO I didn't exactly like Hun as the Elfinator--since when did he ever become an avid gamer, let alone have the time for games? I also kind of think that the real player of the Ultimate Gamer was a good way for the show to point fingers at the Internet Culture and show how some tough guys on the 'net are just a bunch of geeks or liars or whatever (same with the rest of Internet culture as well when they revealed the player of the wizard). And Leo showed some backbone this episode as well.
Now I'm going to see the preview for next week, looks good.

I LOVED THIS EPISODE!!!

It even had people talking in internet nerd talk, which I found to be funny.

Saying things like "PWNED" AND "NOOB," was downright hilarious. I bet people say that silly stuff in real life.

Anyhow, I am a gamer, seeing that dragon with a health bar was pretty cool.

I thought this episode was going to be downright stupid, turns out to be one of my favorites. How is that for ironic.

i dont know about you guys but i wa slaughing hysterically when i saw Raph's little song... the reason i think thi s was an ok episode is because it was funny and humiliating to the turtles... a classic feel we havn't been privilaged to much since the original series, but on the same token however with the lack of episodes remaining i do believe they should care about the fans more enough so that they give certain characters who have been robbed of the screentime a little more limelight (ahem... Ratking)

btw... anybody else ever wonder what the hell happened to Bishop?
and we still havn't seen Karai yet except in the flashback where they just use an old clip

That was way better than Fast Forward's "The Gaminator". So, as far as comedy eps go, it was spot on. I just love themed parodies. :D Of course, Hun being the Elfinator rather than The Ultimate Gamer was quite a shock, and laugh-out-loud hilarious as well. ^_^

Why does it seem like the Raph of this show is becoming more and more like old toon Raph as the show goes on?

He isn't anywhere near as funny as old toon Raph, but he now has the same kind of sarcasm and is being played for laughs in a lot of eps.

Well I can say this its better then any of those Fast Foreward episodes where Mikey loves videogames. Although thats not saying much since they pretty much sucked. Some of the jokes where pretty funny like Hun being elfinator and the pokeing fun at MMO gamers. I liked the Jester Raph turning him into a frog and making him act like the WB frog was lame and just plain random. This episode was a waste of time and budget something unlike most seasons we used to have. So far this is the second worst of the season the first belongs to that god awful Serling episode.

Next week thank god its seems we are getting back to the good stuff. Hopefully something important happens like Shredeer gets out or they get all of Splinter or something these stand alone just aren't working for me.

My roomate and I saw the episode and both agreed it was the worst of the season. Aside from a couple of funny beats with the Raph frog and Hun at the end, it was a waste. Maybe its my natural disdain for online RPGs. On the up and up, Mikey continues to be written decently.

Oh, and everyone who was worried it would be like "The Gaminator" from Season Six, well, this was much worse than "The Gaminator."

This episode's downright hilarious. I loved the jokes and the plot twists. The MMORPG jabs are spot on funny and Raph totally stole the show. I cracked up when he was holding the sais as a frog.

For some reason, I think the hardest I ever laughed from this show was in "The Gaminator" when those duplicate Mikeys popped up. But that's just me.

I couldn't help but note how ridiculous the premise was... I thought I would find this mediocre, but I think the execution of it was pretty good, and a lot of fun. Site gags crack me up every time, and Leo's cycle of shapechanges had me in giggles. The glimpses of the players were funny, and I can cite a few times where someone's fallen asleep in a game like that, and you're poking at them to respond... LOL. Raph's totally deadpan delivery of whimsy was delightful. And I was truly flabbergasted by the identity of the Elfinator... though it makes some kind of weird sense, I think... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/Zakiyah/emoticons/unsure.gif

I think they could have gotten away with showing them as creatures other than Turtles (er, besides Raph, of course :lol:), since their voices would be the same, but that's a minor point, really. And Raph actually paid attention to his fairy tales, even if he was a bit off the mark... :D

Funny moments that can't make me stop giggling: 1)Raph being a Jester 2) Leo morphing into cute little animals 3) Mike's reaction when he found out they were going into the game :lol:

Most shocking, head scratching moments: 1) Raph volunteering himself to kiss the witch 2) Raph singing and dancing to distract the Ultimate Gamer 3) Hun turning out to be the Elfinator :o

Next weeks episode looks wicked dramatic.:sick:

About 10 seconds before Raph tryed to kiss the witch, I accutually thought they might have to do that at first, but then a second later I relised that she would turn him into a frog.

And about Leo turning into all those different animals, I agree, "This is humilliating!"

Bishop went back to work, Karai settled down. Stop asking for their return.

As for this episode...truely garbage. The reason people are giving this higher marks is likely because there fans of the original series, or because we're "back in the present", which doesnt disguise anything at this stage. Going back to the present was often associated with "returning to quality". They have scarsely accomplished this. THREE out of Thirteen isnt a world record in anyone's book...and like FF, we're used to watching stupidity so we may as well reward it.

MMORPG humour was done better with South Park, and don't get me started on the ameture "shock value" comedy moment with who was also playing and enjoying the game. Watch season one, watch season four...is THIS what you're laughing at? Is this what great characters have come to?

People will enjoy any old s*it these days.:roll:

Not much to say about this episode, except it did feel a little out of place. It seemed as if the writers or whoever were attempting to mix The Wizard of Oz with a knights and dragons kinda deal.

Next week's looks like it's gettin' back into what we're used to and I'm intrigued about it.

Of course, somehow this episode would have been better in FF... somehow.... I dunno... if Viral trapped them in there or Jammerhead was involved in some way. It really seems like a repeat of the Helix episode. Plus, as much as I like Mikey, I've seen enough Mikey centric episodes the last 2 seasons to last me a life time.

This just came off as a really bad (third season) Captain N episode. It would have been much funnier if they really slaughtered the material... but they didn't. It's something that Duck Dodgers, Welcome to the NHK, and even the Simpsons did much better.

Something just dawned on me as I was watching the preview of next weeks episode, the Intro still has the 2k3 style scene in it...I guess that's how the intro will always be...cobbled together.So are the actual episodes. Check the discussion thread for "Hacking Stockman." While the Turtles are running across the rooftops, they blatantly use a shot of Mikey's foot from an earlier season. It wasn't even an essential shot. They just stuck it in there to save, like, two dollars I guess.

I posted a picture of it. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Okay, finally watched it...

This ep was More than corny.. There were a lot of funny moments, especially the nonsense with Raph and Leo. While the ep seemed out of place storywise, it was inevitable. With how big WoW and these types of games are, it would have been foolish not to have mentioned it a Little bit.. Personally, I don't know anything about gaming outside of the stuff I learned from watching RvB. Otherwise I would have been clueless.

I'm just waiting for someone to make a Gif of Raph doing his little song and dance... :P

As for next week... this is the sucky part of knowing stuff ahead of time. If I didn't know what I do, I would have been more revved up... but that goes for all of the episodes.

This episode really didn't accomplish anything. Well, there were the Splinter bits, but that was it.

That being said, I didn't hate it, nor do I regret watching it. Definitely not the worst episode of the season. I don't see how anyone can think that. Not after the abysmal Serling episode.

The Ultimate Gamer looked like Tootie, from the Fairly Odd Parents. Wonder if that was intentional.

This season has been such a mess. They tease us by going back to the 2k3 roots and then they turn around and go back to the FF garbage. Make up your minds already!

That's why it's called "filler." Even though you're right, there has been too much filler for a season like this, like I said either the guys are hoping to finish their work quota or they really think that they'll be able to pull out another season.

I got some good chuckles out of this episode, but fell out of my seat - literally - with laughter upon Hun being the Elfanator. Seriously, out of all of the characters, that one was the furthest from my mind as being a player. I would have placed Karai or Touch & Go or even Nobody above Hun on that list.

Maybe the fact that I set and listen to a group of no less than eight MMO nerds (my co-workers) drone on about this stuff all day, that I thought the jokes poking fun at them were spot on.

See, this is what the series doesnt do at all. Casey and April have a baby (Shadow), CASEY is the one that dies, and Donny falls in love with April and raises Shadow with her. It'd fit the context of their relationship as canocial soul mates in the series and honours a classic comic story without adapting it the way it was.

See, this is what the series doesnt do at all. Casey and April have a baby (Shadow), CASEY is the one that dies, and Donny falls in love with April and raises Shadow with her. It'd fit the context of their relationship as canocial soul mates in the series and honours a classic comic story without adapting it the way it was.

Oh wait, I've got the perfect scenario!

Casey dies while out on a mission with the Turtles. They feel somehow responsible and swear never to speak of it to anyone, especially April. So Donatello creates a holographic device [or digitizes himself a new persona, or uses some mystical Foot medallion to channel up his inner ki, etc. etc.] to create a Casey Jones disguise. From that point on Donatello and "Casey" are never seen together again. Every time one is present, the other is conveniently absent. Donatello is happy with April, April is happy with "Casey", the Turtles live with the shame of the elaborate coverup eventually resulting in psychological trauma from repression, and Don and April further their research and create O'Neil Tech! And Shadow never knows the truth... :lol:

I agree. I am relieved the series didn't go that route, though I thought it was implied early on to some degree. But I do like to poke fun at the whole notion, and the fans who clamor for the Beauty and the Brain matchup.

I can honestly say this episode was not as bad as I thought it would be. It's certainly better than Incredible Shrinking Serling. I had to strain to find things I liked about that episode. Although I do wish this one pushed the Shredder plot forward, it seems Splinter should be back soon.

Hun turning out to be the Elfinator was an eye rolling moment for me, as was his confession to being a gamer, but him threatening to rip his goon's tongue out if he told anybody made the whole scene worth it.

Also, did anybody else think that the Ferryman could have turned out to be Draco. It must have been the cloak, and the general reference to dragons throughout the episode. I kept hoping Draco would show up. But I guess he's still dead.

First, Mikey's outfit was so super cool! But the best part of the episode, Raph singing!

Raph the frog singing a variation of an old tune (By The Light of The Silvery Moon). It's more of a tribute to Michigan J. Frog (Warner Brothers cartoon character; One Froggy Evening, former WB mascot).

And I thought only Mikey would have the guts to sing! What next, Raph playing guitar or Mikey playing the drums?

Actually I had thought that also. I couldn't figure out how that would work but when I saw that mysterious NPC guy I thought about Draco.

During the episode, we were sitting and thinking about the characters these could be- The elfinator, the NPC and the ultimate gamer (before we knew they were the same).

I didn't think the elfinator would be anybody. I thought the ultimate gamer could be Baxter or maybe April or Casey.

All in all, I liked the episode. Yeah it didn't really do anything storyline-wise except for the data bits. But it was a highly entertaining episode. I suppose if you don't know people like that, it wouldn't be as funny. I laughed out loud with the elfinator calling people "noobs" and saying "pwned" because I know people that talk like that. We were also laughing at the HP / MP meter above the dragons head. Of course, the big reveal at the end for the Elfinator was hilarious. I was laughing out loud for about 5 minutes.

How is this considered filler? The whole point of the season is to put Splinter back together, and that's what they were doing in this episode.
They can do that without throwing what seems to be continous birthday parties for a retarded eight year old child

Exactly what I was thinking. I mean, I think we started off on a dramatic note, Don faulting himself for the whole thing, and then dealing with it. And I feel that up until the last few episodes, the season has been pretty tight, especially Hacking Stockman and The Engagement Ring.

The last couple of episodes had potential, but they didn't give it enough time to flourish into something strong. I liked the idea of the Turtles working for the Foot, and attacking the Purple Dragons, but when they got to that part, the episode was almost over, and we didn't get to see what we should have... basically a sequence before the turtles donned Foot gear and no one knew anything was wrong. it needed some sort of confrontation from Hun.

I also liked the bit about Cyber Shredder trying to come out of the cyberworld, but we wasted a good 5 minutes of the Turtles running around, riding Skateboards... and by the time Shredder was ready to come out of the cyber realm, there was 2 minutes left.

I thought that with 13 episodes, they'd at least be focused... but ever since the Serling episode, it really lost its goals. I think they could have done a better job blending the cyber and reality bits together.

Though, I can't help thinking... if they went with the Cyberworld completely, ALL the episodes would have been like this. No, worse! We would have had the annoying Baby Turtles running around.

I completely agree Zarius. There is no possible way I can fathom that can make someone say this season is better than Fast Forward (except for being so fan-giddy over TMNT still being on tv that it clouds their judgement). What makes it better? Sure...Casey, April and Shredder are back....but who cares when they are all shells of their former selves? The animation is equally as bad (if not worse than FF), the Cyberworld is an exact replica of how they were in FF, and the one and only benefit BTTS has over FF is that they have their traditional gear back (and even then, it's not like they use it or you see it much with all their ridiculous costume changes and lack of decent battles). The whole Splinter storyline sucks....it was fine for like 4 episodes but now it's very tiresome....(either get him back quickly or let him die and be gone from the series). With 13 episodes of this (with so many bullcrap episodes thrown in) they are doing absolutely nothing except flushing this once great series down the toilet.

As far as this episode goes....well lets just say I was about to give up completely with this whole series after it aired. When Raph started dancing/singing as a frog I was utterly so embarassed to be watching it that I had to shut off the television so no one else heard it. I am holding out a slight bit of hope for next weekend's episode based on the previews, however, with the monumental disappointment this season has been so far, I am very much prepared for yet another dose of supersuck.

I'm inclided to agree here. Much of FF's quality was down to Marty Isenberg and a few others, but when FF's second season was pulled, the writers strike hit, and then Isenberg became head writer of Transformers Animated, I think if he had stayed, BTTS probably wouldnt have been dragged down into the gutter. I can't beleive Joe Kelly isnt script-editing either, especially since he wrote "Timing is Everything" and one of the best episodes of BTTS.

why is so hard to understand that some people are still enjoying BTTS? :-? And might like it better than FF.

I agree with both Zarius and Tomoshibi Amatsu. The best way to enjoy Fast Foward and/or Back to the Sewer is to view them as seperate pieces, and acknowledge that they are, in fact, kids' shows. That's how I view it and in that vein I enjoy them both.

The fact remains, however, that people continue to praise this season and bash last season despite very similar writing. In all honesty, I find Fast Foward slightly more enjoyable. It's more charming, creative, and at least follows a consistant tone. I've seen the most ridiculous arguments as to why Back to the Sewer is better, such as "It has more explosions!" or "The animation is better!" (It's not. Anyone with a remotely discerning eye can see that.)

The real reason people like it better: it's in the past. Well la-de-da. I'm down with people slightly preferring either season six or seven to the other (as I do), but you can't despise one and love the other.

Cipher, let's not forget that when FF began, it BEGAN...as in 4Kids, MIRAGE, everyone gave it a crash-course in marketing. In 2006 to 2007, we had Simon Furman writing a FF comic strip (thus he's now written for every major U.S toy franchise ever), we had diverse blogs from talent artists working on the FF strip, the ratings for FF were amongst the highest in the series history, regardless of "once in a blue moon classics", FF was seen as a labour of love, a united front.

BTTS is not seen as that at all by 4Kids, or Playmates...or even MIRAGE. It is the bastard love child conceived at the carnivale, a combination of heated board room meetings, failed pitches, and wasted energy, coupled with inexperianced writers, a troubled comic, and designers who are hanging all hope on a "special" that seems to be comfort food more for themselves since everything else has made them disgustingly fat with depression.

And not this often. In the first 5 seasons, most of the episodes were great, with only a few bum episodes in each season, whereas this season is 90% bum episodes and only 10% decent ones. Not to mention I don't (nor have I ever) watched TMNT to get my laughs. I watch it to see characters I find interesting engaging in great looking fight scenes and well written stories. 2K3 had both. FF kept some of the decent fighting but lost the good stories. BTTS still doesn't have a good story and now has taken away the good fights as well (save for the first confrontation with Cyber Shredder). There isn't much left to make it still worth watching. Again, I am going to watch next weekends episode to give it another chance to change my mind. If it doesn't then I believe I am done with this series (unless they ever come to their senses and can make it even halfway as good as 2K3 episodes again).

I have noticed this season, they're trying to make the move to Hun being pathetic. I mean, dude is p**s pants afraid of Shredder now. Plus, crippling out of character moments like that are pretty damn funny. I mean, I was thinking... "Ohh! It's Casey Jones or something." And that seemed expected. This didn't. Of course, it's something you only laugh at once.

But I get what you mean. TMNT 2k3 took itself too seriously, and FF and the unfortunate cyberhalf half of BTTS (Which I swear is culled from unused plots from FF and sample scripts of TMNT Cyberworld) had characters that took themselves seriously in less than serious situations, and it wasn't a good fit. I could see half the stuff working a lot better if Raph was the sarcastic jerk and Mikey was just the slowish surfer dude. Raph turning into a frog? Prime time fun for Sarcastic 1980's Raph. All I got out of frustrated soul Raph as a frog was "I hate Video Games," and "This situation makes me Grouchy."

I think the problem is that they started out on such a strong note. It was Darker and a little more serious, almost like 2k3 with some of the jokes leftover from FF (The turtles abusing Serling for example). And after the fourth episode, we either saw wasted concepts or... well, stuff like this that takes it from Kid's show to Kiddy show. I( have faith they'll pull something better off near the end... but I can only say this...

FF was written like they were going to have 52 episode, and they only produced 26.... BTTS is written like it's going to have 26 episodes, but they KNOW they only have 13.

And I have to ask a question... would people have let this sort of thing slide if there was going to be another season after this? I mean, we all know this could very well be the end of the line (for reasons, I'm not saying... don't want to speculate anything), and we built it up that this would be back to 2k3, and were disappointed it was only 25% true. If we were going to have more Turtles after this season, would we care we've had a bunch of dumb episodes lately?

After all at the end of the Ninja Tribunal arc I felt that it was "the end." Sure FF and BTTS follow the continuity but they're completely different shows compared to the first five seasons. So I don't think there's a reason to compare them at all. In all honesty it seems that a lot of the enjoyment for FF and BTTS is lost because people are saying they aren't as serious and dark as the past seasons were. If that's the case then forget the first five seasons and take FF and BTTS as they are. A new direction that while connected to the main series is essentially more of a continuation of an already wrapped up series.

Cause honestly if you don't think there was a happily ever after ending at the end of the whole ninja tribunal ordeal then you're nuts. So just look at FF and BTTS seperately from the first five seasons. Chances are you'll probably change your mind about them, and if not then I don't really know what to tell you then.

that episode might have been really horriable but it did have the deep hidden gem of the a bad guy actually getting ahold of Donatello's van and using it against him and the turtles. Seeing Donatello having to out manurver his own superior inventions was an unexpected treat.

Think about it the turtles are always tripping the bad guys up with these sophisticated high tech inventions that they don't have a prayer of out manurvering, and now the shoe is on the other foot and they have to go up against the inventions that have given them the edge over the bad guy of the day. It was also a good humbling episode for Donatello to have these low life hill billies handing him his ass with his own inventions.

yeah. i agree about the next mutation thing. like when a ninja turtle hit somebody it would go "boing!" or some other cheesy sound effect. but i like this season so far. but i think they could do better. i like this episode because it was less serious and acting more on the old toon side. but they should be able to fix it up by the end of the season (or series?).

Funny episode. It is good that this show has these funny episodes, its good see them sometimes but for a 13 episode season with already another goofy episode this is a bit too much for one season but this episode is so funny that it doesn´t matter much.

I don´t see how Hun´s character is destroyed by this little revealing. I mean everyone needs hobby and my friend told me even some old people play WoW.
I just recently watched season 1 episodes Shedder Strikes part 1 till Notes from Underground part 3 and yes they were all great but FF and BttS are still good when comparing.

It is the future concept what shouldn´t have happened, I have come up with a storylines how all FF-characters ( who appeared in three or more eps.) could have been adapted to present with never going to future. Of course character backstories would much different.

Last comment about "SuperQuest", South Park had much better WoW parody but this was much better than Simpsons WoW parody.

this episode was crap though, the things in it that made it even remotely funnny was weak. I hated how they humiliated my Raphael. WTF a court jester? Gosh why did they have to that, Raphael is a hardcore badass not the comic relief. This show has really started to make Raph a parody of him self and it's disgusting. I'm noticing lately that they've been making Raph do all the degrading "running distraction" work lately and making him into a big joke. Umm, what up with that? Thats Mikey's role.

The roles should have been Leo is a the knight, Raph is the changeling, Don could stay the wizard, and Mikey is the court jester. Because we all know court jesters suck! (well except for our resident jester here on the drome :P)

Was I the only one who was getting aggravated that Mikey seemed like he cared more about playing the game than finding master splinter? I'm just glad every one tore into him.
