My Eyes!!!

Put on some pants man!

Oh, I'm counting 13 figures with Krang. The limit was 12, so I'm guessing Krang is an extra with Shredder and won't have his body. Oh, and now I should be able to make the Foot army I've been wanting :D

It's the small Krang's Anidroid Body figure, not the original. He fits in Shredder's hand.

Ya the Krang looks like the small one that came with the small Android body.

They could have released the big one that came with the bubble walker and larger android body instead. Cause who the hell is gonna pay for that? Unless he comes with someone.

On the Page with the picture of PL its talks about a real Turtle Party Wagon. Does anyone have any more info on this?
The page reads:

April and Casey have the best looks to em. Rocksteady reminds me of the Rhino guards from Robin Hood.

Why redo Shredder like that? Why not replace the blue with silver, and give him a shirt.

Also, why didn't they correct Slash's idiotic pink color scheme? On the plus side, I lost my mini Krang that goes with the Android body. So there's that.

These are probably early shots. I can't imagine they'll actually release a Shredder figure with no pants.

Everything else appears to be almost an identical re-release to the classic figures. So this is probably just an early proto pic.

Was just looking at my old Shredder and his leg's plastic is skin tone with everything painted on. I have a hunch that either they didn't finish painting this one or Playmates had to cut back on paint apps. Logically, it's the former, but I run the latter by them.

I can get behind this re-release because I loved the old toys. Kids and people who aren't big enough geeks to get the old toys on eBay or something should love these.

Shredder does need to put some f'ing pants on, though.

Blade Raider

On topic of the old Shredder...
Quick question, I was looking at my 88 Shredder and then Toon Shredder on tmnttoys.com and noticed something. The shoulders on the Toon look to be farther away from the body then my 88 version. They did this to the Robotic Foot so I'm wondering if they did it to Toon Shredder to since his right arm couldn't clear his head. Anyone have both that can prove or disprove this?

Back on subject, I want to know the price tag of these reissues. Even with inflation, I can't imagine them being more than $6-7. Any higher and I think I'd rather go to yard sales and take my chances.

(that's what I've been saying since I heard about it. Them, and kids who's parents threw them away, and they grew out of them just as they were rereleased)

Anyway, *&^%!!! To not rereleasing the smaller, semi in scale Krang with Android Body and just giving us that pencil topper. I would tend to get Bebop, Rocksteady and Casey if they're cheap enough to warrant getting them outside an E-bay auction.

Hello strange people.

I was a little dissapointed to see that Playmates already did the protos for this figures. I tough that this project was in an earlier stage so we could change their minds around how the reissues could look like. Personally, I'd like to see new sculpts based faithfully on the Old Toon characters. It seems that Playmates had decided not to do that (for now) and opted to reissue some of the older figs. However I'd prefer that, instead of exact replicas, we got those characters but with some repainting and some mixed parts... to be specific:

- Shredder could be the Slice N' Dice version, but with the soulderpads and cape of the original shredder. Also, his body would be painted in gray and black, like in the toon.

- April: Use the second April body (the one that had purple parts), repaint it to better reflect the original look, and swap her head with the Ninja Newscaster April, minus the bandana.

Something similar with the rest of the characters. For example Rocksteady could use the head of the Boxer Rocksteady figure (don't remember his name), as it looks closer to his cartoon counterpart.

Something like that could give us new figures, while still being "budget savers" for Playmates. But I guess it's too late for that. Bah.

I have Slash, myself... but I wouldn't be above getting another one for displaying. Plus, I have no idea where the old one is.

I say it would be great for them to rerelease some of the figues they never rereleased before in the series of the original figures. I'd LOVE to see a nice collectors' Box set of the Channel 6 News Team.

What they sould rerelease is THE TECHNODROME! It would probably be a bad idea business-wise, but then I could get one. :)

Also what if this sells well and we get new characters? Granitor, Aska, the samurai demon from TMNTII for nes... sure they would have deformed vintage proportions, but at least it would be nice.

I'd like Playmates to do (amongst a million other things, but let's not go there), what I initially thought they'd do when I misread the ninjaturtles.com article on their plans for the 25th anniversary, and release versions of the current Mini-Mutants line with the old toon TMNT characters. Since Playmates still seem to be on their "Allies suck, lol" kick (out of everything we know about for next year, we're getting three Splinters, an April, and a Casey - three are re-releases, and one is that damn build-a-figure) - they could do how they've done before and had 1 Turtle and 1 villain per pack - Shredder, Krang, Rocksteady, and Bebop. Simple as that.

Mr._Mutant_Man
12-20-2008, 07:54 AM
Even if they changed the paint jobs a little, I'm still interested in the re-releases of the figures. I think the original four turtles are the best looking versions, because they are a nice blend of the comic and the TV series (they're wearing the cartoon colors, but the facial expressions reflect the "attitude" of the comics).

They need to reissue some pants on that Shredder.

Wacky Action Shredder = Super Shredder (with some new parts obviously) so I feel like his potential was realized since they made 3 million or more Super Shredder figures.

They also need to reissue a body for Krang or he's going to be complaining like in those first 5 episodes.

Giant Size Krang would be awesome. In his original box too. That would rock.

Um No Wacky Action Shredder is a brand new sculpt that came way before Super Shredder. It's closer to the old Toon Shredder than even the first release Shredder is.

I think you misunderstood. Someone mentioned Wacky Shredder never got his props, but he was retooled into Super Shredder. If you don't believe me put them side by side. It's the same torso, waist, legs, and arms with a different head (and obviously more armor added to Super Shredder) with some sculpting done over the holes in the arms. And Super Shredder is arguably one of the most common Shredder toys, so in a way he did get his props.

Shoot the images won't hotlink here, they're from the official site so they're most likely yours anyway so you know what I'm talking about.

Things that give it away are: the part of the suit hanging out the back, the hands, the bandages, and the leg position.

several people on this thread mentioned that wacky action slice'ndice shredder should be "re-tooled" into a cartoon version shredder. unfortunately, Slice'ndice Shredder wouldn't meet the appropriate height requirements:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3078/3132338260_0c6567bf55.jpg?v=0
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3235/3132338234_dccf953951.jpg?v=0

he would be too small, about the same height of the tmnt & splinter, which is unacceptable. well i wont even worry about it as there's no reason for me to buy any of the re-release seeing that i already have all of them in original packaging, and loose, doubles of some.

also, I dont know if anyone else noticed, but in re-realeases they can sometimes screw up the figure, mainly the paint jobs. im thinking here of a '98 KB re-release Donatello. the purple was WAY too dark, compared to the the original '88 release. also, figurewise, the 4 tmnt '98 kb re-releases that i got, when stood next to original '88 softhead and hardhead releases, are notably shorter in height. whacky.

Told ya! To be honest I just realized it a year ago and I had both figures as a kid. Say what you want about Playmates, but their reuse of molds were creative and never really stood out as a reused figure. Not like Transformers or GI Joe or DC figures or Playmates of today. The majority of classic TMNT figures were brand new sculpts. And when they weren't they were usually retooled extensively.
