A Letter To NECA

Good Afternoon,
My name is Stephan Reese, I own and run http://www.theturtlevan.com, a blog focused on TMNT toys and current events.

Many, many people in the turtles fandom are curious as to what happened to NECA's TMNT line. You all seemed to have dropped off the face of the planet months ago.

Not only have you reportedly not responded to a great number of fan inquiries...but you have also allegidly ceased all communication with Mirage.

Many of us assume that the reason NECA vanished is due to the...less than savory business decision on Playmates part to release comic related turtles toys after the huge success of the NECA TMNT first wave. And now you're "taking your football and going home"...while leaving a large portion of your fanbase in the dirt.

The purpose of this letter is to allow you to set the record straight as to the current status of the NECA TMNT toy line BEFORE New York Comic Con. Otherwise a number of fans are going to be asking you in person...which will undoubtedly be a more uncomfortable scenario.

What this letter is NOT is any kind of threat or accusation. We as a community love your toys, and would like them to continue. We wait eagerly each day for even a whisper from the NECA camp. So please, for the sake of the fans, take a moment to give us some answers.

fingers crossed for some kind of response. good luck and i hope to hear more. I have seen on so many toy forums people asking when wave 2 is coming out. I know wave 1 has done well because it seems everyone and their brother even non TMNT collectors have a set.

I think....toy lines like mattel or hasbro...will treat thee turtles better than play mates...dont get me wrong I think play mates toys are really cool...but play mates is leaving the turtles...and I think neca is going to pay more atention TO the turtles if play mates ..dosent have the license

I'm almost afraid to point out the proper spelling of "allegedly" now! Please don't bite my head off... ;)

Anyway, nice letter, though I often wonder if they have any impact. (That said, I hope they do and look forward to reading the response!) And no matter what, you know NECA's going to have to answer (or dodge) tons of questions about Wave 2 at NYCC.

I just was asking a serious question what e-mail you sent your letter to because they haven't even been responding to him and he was their contact at Mirage.

I think that's a very appropriate question, actually, Vaughn. I snaked out a few contacts for NECA that aren't public knowledge, using the techniques I normally use at work, and still have yet to hear back from anyone over there.

Then I apologise. It just came off as really snide to me, like "We'll we've been trying so why are you trying?" kinda thing. Probably just the emotionless internet striking again!
