View Full Version : Laird's Blast from the Past

Is it just me or is anyone else kind of tired of Pete's "Blast from the Past" posts on his blog. I mean he has already posted them before and its just getting old. Here's an idea instead of posting those pictures and submitting a little something about each one, try compiling it all together and making a nice hardcover art book out of them. I'm just so tired of checking his blog everyday, sometimes several times a day just to find something I have already seen before. I understand not all of what he posts could be published but most of it could and a compilation art book makes good cents (get my terrible pun). Not to mention his posts average about 3.5 replies almost making his blog pointless. I guess what I'm saying is that his blog is sort of boring and he rarely has any new news on TMNT related things. That's what most of us really want to hear about, but we all know why he doesn't post stuff like that is because Pete isn't exactly the best at handling criticism which would undoubtedly come his way.
Boy do I miss the 5th turtle!!!!!!!

The 5th Turtle is/was Steve Murphy's blog.

Why not actually tell him your thoughts/opinions?

You know as well as I do that it will have no effect and he will not care.

Of course, but complaining about something without officially expressing your complaint gives zero percent chance for change. Peter shouldn't be immune to direct criticism just because he co-created the TMNT. And anyone who works in entertainment should be prepared to receive criticism.

All right Rose, I took your advice and posted my thoughts on his blog. I can't wait for one of two types of responses to occur. He will either ramble on at great length about how he is tired of fan ideas, criticism, and all concerns related to the TMNT, or he will say absolutely NOTHING. You are right though that it was only fair to share my thoughts with him, like so many of the other people of this forum.

I posted my response to you on the blog before checking your post here. Honestly it's his blog (note HIS blog, not just a TMNT blog) and he really should be able to do what he wants. He only mixes blast from the past in every couple blog posts, a lot of it is new stuff we haven't seen yet. It beats the posts about motorcycles which I don't even understand (just not my thing).
The fifth turtle was a better outlet for news, but we blew it. Hopefully some TMNT fans can convince Murphy at NYCC to revive it... hint hint

I don't see what problem him having a blog causes to anyone *shruggs*
The only thing I could see is that it holds him back from doing things like Vol. 4.
I can honestly understand him wanting to get the past out of the way before moving into his future though.

Ecto, I totally understand that it is his blog and he is free to do what ever he wants with it, however what I had to say is my opinion and I am free to post how I feel about his blog. My opinion is only a suggestion. A suggestion that certainly has merit due to the fact that this supposed 25th anniversary is lining up to be a funeral instead. All I want are some answers to some very important and relevant questions.

Well if it wasn't for the idiots posting stupid crap on Murphy's blog, perhaps he wouldn't have shut it down.
Pete's blog was always going to be about his old art or Segways and motorcycles, I never expected Pete to tell us about future TMNT projects.
So once again, blame the idiots in the fandom who ruined Murphy's blog for everyone and turned him away from the fandom.

Yea...his blog continued for a bit without the comments section, then went environmental and died along with his other blogs. I'm not sure it was entirely the fans.

The fate of that blog rested heavily on the shoulders of one particular individual whom I don't need to mention again. I don't want this to become another "yeah, screw that guy" thread. If you were there, you know who it is.
But you're right, I think Murphy just got generally burnt out as well.

No harm done, looks like he's going to answer your questions, so get over there! ;)

Actually, when he got the idea to re-post the BFTP stuff, he asked if that's what people would like to see, and he got a positive reaction. It's cool stuff though, why not?

I think it's rare that anyone who disagrees with Peter actually voices that opinion.
I'm fine with all the BFTP stuff being on Blogger, but I think he should have back-dated them instead of slowly reposting all of them one by one. But I'm sure Peter'd just consider me clueless and delusional for thinking so, per usual.

He used the letters section of the TMNT comic to vent, and he got bitched at. He uses his own web log, and he gets bitched at. What do you people want?!

A little of it is the way he vents. He sometimes overreacts to people questioning his work a little, whether it is somewhat justified or not. Look at how people react to john byrne, another creator who is very "severe" when people disagree with him.
Yeah I too don't understand why he doesn't make a book out of his art or other Mirage artists artwork. I don't minf his blog. I only look the odd time and then I can catch to it. I do sort of hate the old stuff being reposted though. Wish it'd be just pure all new stuff, which only comes now and then. But it is his blog and he can what he wants.
