These are pictures of my local TRU.

Meanwhile the TMNT End Cap is FULL of Wrestling product.
This just rubbed me the wrong way. After speaking to the manager...he was very "meh" about it.
I'm not quite understanding the problem.

I'm not quite understanding the problem.
They're stocking product on the incorrect end caps. Loading up the TMNT endcap with non TMNT product, and putting the TMNT product on an end cap with a totally unassociated brand.
This is probably the kind of thing that only bothers me lol.

Just looks like they're trying to get rid of clearance items to me.*shruggs*

Doesn't really bother me, though I kind of see where you are coming from. The thing is that TRU really sucks and the several near me have not stocked anything new in the last 8 months. Heck there still loaded with the mini movie multi figure packs at full retail price.

The point of the toy store is to make money. If TMNT figures arn't selling, why should they have them in a key location?
Admit it folks, the new TMNT toys arn't selling well.

I thought that was an unspoken assumption.

Hard times for the turtle figures. As if things weren't bad enough with sales before the crappy economy struggle. Bad figure variants + bad economy + no one at playmates gives a rat's @$$ = the current state of toy sales.
I have seen the same thing at my local Walmart and TRU as well. 4 or 5 mini mutant figures and that's it. Can't really blame the store for giving up on the line, everyone else has.

Has TRU got the 25th figures yet down there? I am getting a little pissed that we haven't gotten ANY up here because Wal-Fart hasn't gotten them yet.

Toys R Us has yet to get them but will, and Wal-Mart will not be selling them.

Except that TRU never clears out any of the TMNT merchandise. I know one location that still has a Jammerhead for it's original price. And I doubt a soul will buy him.

Stephan, for me that placing of toys was also disrespectful specially to toy collectors. But, gotta admit that the others are right. It's a little hard to sell TMNT stuff these days, so the store has to make sacrifices.

My Target has sold out of the new 25th Anniversary characters.. So I cant say sales are bad... just sales are down all over... Some people who work at the stores just dont care like collectors do... oh, well...

The old toys have a nostalgia factor on their side so that helps those.
It could just be me and a few others here but I think it's safe to asume people are tired of seeing figures that look like the cgi movie, hence why you see things like this taking place.

I wouldn't mind new CGI-style figures if A) they weren't the same damn basic sculpt over and over and B) they were utilized for something useful and C) it wasn't just 800 variations of the Turtles. Seriously, why can't I have the rest of the monsters, Max Winters in a business suit, Santiago, or even some action feature Stone Generals?

I think Vaughn hit it on the head. TMNT wasn't really that popular. People who used to watch the 87 series see these new figures and could not care less about them. I enjoyed the new movie and I'm even tired of these new figures.
What can be done about it? ... I don't know

The movie figures are "ok"lookin the first time u see them but they are nothin compared to the original lines. The more you see them the more boring you feel about these figures, not to mention that the price jack up like crazy over the past 3 yrs on tmnt. Movie figure sucks, mini figures suck more.

I don;t think that's so much the problem. had TMNT figures not been that popular, they would have been going straight to clearance outlets like the Dragon Ball Z figures, or sit on the shelves long after everything good has been cleared out, even at rock bottom prices like the Speed Racer line (the dollar store has walls of them. They sold decently for about a year or so. Think about it. The movie was 2 years ago, and the toys came out just before Christmas of 2006 at the earliest. And of course, a 10 dollar action figure price tag just doesn't cut it anymore.
Normally, a movie based toy line lasts up until the movie is out on DVD... maybe the following Christmas. Then it gets cleared out (go to Target... look at all the unsold Cairo Swordsman and Mutt Williams Indiana Jones figures). I'm surprised the TMNT movie line has been around that long.
Looks to me like some lingering dead weight in the form of old movie stock that nobody wants. Is that a Michaelangelo MM playset by any chance? Perhaps the TMNT logo above the wrestling products is meant to come down too (you should ask to have it Steph). It is probably just a move around or something.
Archon, you should go back there in a week or so and see if anything has changed at all. It be interesting to see if there is any progress regarding any TMNT display at all.

be honest, the movie turtles are ugly, the plastic they use is soooo cheap-look and the price is wooping 11$ now after tax, all turtles, very VERY boring.
The "mini" figure line is so BIG compare to the ones in 94~95 era, also the attention details are far, far down from before, plus why the heck the mini figures are causing so much?! totally failure.

That's not really disrespectful, that's just what they do during clearance and usually right before they move the caps around.

Um, not really. I'm just pointing out if the TMNT toys or movie weren't that popular, they would have been cleared out in 2007, by Christmas time. It was on the shelves for about 2 years in most place... and with TRU, I could see the same figures from 2007 sitting their another year.

I'm with you. The first thing I thought when I saw your picture was "holy crap, are tmnt that bad off?"
I can also relate with the TRU manager though. As a retail manager myself, I'm often asked to do things I wouldn't normally do, and more often than not, things I think are just a straight up bad idea. Sadly though, I don't have a lot of control over it. He probably doesn't either. I'm sure a big-wig or district manager or something told him to do it.
Although, they could at the very least make it appear more full and exciting. That display is disappointing at best. No wonder they aren't selling well.

I was just at my TRU tonight. They had exactly one TMNT figure, some alien bug thing, and about a gillion or so of the mini mutant multi packs.

I picked for a whole ten cents a MIB Fast Forward Donatello in that spikey wheel vehicle. Did I really need or want that set? No. But I figured I'd use it for when I get my Triple Threat figure...

Two year old Movie toys & those failure of a toy mini mutants belong on a back end cap.
When playmates starts to make quality new figures again then they will deserve to be up front.
Anyway who didnt get that movie Splinter years ago ?
