Been meaning to start this thread for a while and since some are asking.

First, my old contest entries:

First contest, Marvel Legends Nobody (My first custom):
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/Nobody3.jpg
Black Panther with shaved parts. Very simple really.

Second contest, Super Ch'rell:
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/SuperChrell3.jpg
Thinking of updating him now that I have aluminum paint. He's made out of a Cybertron Menasor (who happens to be rare, but I was crazy enough to make this anyways).

Third contest, 25th TMNT Wave 01:
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/25thTMNTWave01.jpg
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/25thFootNinjaArcher01.jpg
Parts: Body - Storm Shadow, head - butterfly swords Snake-Eyes, bandana - Kenner Batman cape

http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/25thKarai01.jpg
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/25thKarai02.jpg
Parts: Head - Bultar Swan, bandana - VvV Jinx, body - Scarlett, lower arms - Clone Trooper, feet - Storm Shadow, vest - Hong Kong Elizabeth Swann (huh, two Swans on one figure), Kami chain - Trigun Wolfwood, other weapons - random GI Joe Ninjas weapons.
As I said in the contest thread, the light betrays Karai's flesh tones. They look far better in person.

EDIT: Oh, and if I remove the vest and switch her head for Mara Jade's (Star Wars), she makes a great maskless Phantasm from Batman:TAS

http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/GIJoeAgentBishop.jpg
Parts: Head - Duke, glasses - Comic 3-pack Baroness, body - Last Crusade Indy, coat - Infinite Heroes Jim Gordon (Really need to replace my Gordon now that he's coatless), gun - SW.

I'll post more (that no one here or possibly anywhere) has seen.

Today I have some in progress figures.

First is 25th Splinter. All I need is a head and then I can paint it. The head on the figure is Voolvif Monn (which the legs and hands came from). I'm not happy with using it for Splinter (Needs at least a longer snout).
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/SplinterProto01.JPG
The tail is really Mutations Splinter's tail. I cut it so the ring that looped around the metal pin is now a clip. It simply clips on the back of his rode. I've thought about using the Movie Stars Splinter (I'd will a non-fur one) for the head. However, I think it's to big, what you you guys think?
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/SplinterProto02.JPG

Enough of Splinter. Next is phase one of 25th Shredder.
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/ShredderPhase01.JPG
I'm going for a 2k3 samurai armor design. That said, I thought Zartan's torso and upper arms fit the armor theme better. Phase 2 is to get rid of the skull belt bucket and try to cover the hip area either with the belt or the green rode piece at his feet. Then I'm going to combine the helmet with Budo's helmet (The one next to him). After that, spikes time!

Movie Splint's head is definitely too big unfortunately. There's got to be a good looking rat head out there at the size you want....

That's a cool take on Splinter. Granted, yeah, the base head isn't entirely rat-like, but it's an interesting look for him.

I'm thinking maybe the Road Ready Splinter's head might work, but the joint's in a odd place making an odd cut for the neck. I haven't found anything else remotely similar in the size I need.

He's based on a wolf design, so no, it ain't a rat. I'm just using it as a stand in until I find a better head.

On another board, someone said that's the most pissed off Splinter he has ever seen:lol:

Anyways, Work on Shredder is coming along nicly.
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/ShredderPhase02.JPG
Helmet's looking better than I thought it would. I need a 3rd spike for it though (he looks to Viking without it). I also need to find some big shoulder pads for him. Once I have those, it should start going smoothly (I already have the spikes to put everywhere).

Got some completed customs to show you guys today.

Both of these were made specifically for my comic TAOWAR. I'm currently editing it to post on the Technodrome (Mostly fixing in font and spelling errors), but it will be a long time before these forums catch up and these two exist in the current story (In fact, the 2nd one hasn't been used at all yet).

First, A Better World, A Cobra World Donatello. Born from an Alternate timeline where Corba (from GI Joe) rules the world. During the Turtles' and Splinter's first fight with Shredder (In "The Shredder Strikes Part 2"), they lose and only Donnie escapes with his live.

I guess he would make a good Same as it Never Was Don too 8)

Gravel, an original character. He's an assassin that will hunt his prey and learn everything he can about them. That is all I can say about him right now (Spoilers :P)

The Donnie looks great, too. Where did you get the robe?

Thanks :D

I started with a miner theme and a lighter gray, but it just didn't make my cringe when I looked at it. After taking away the miner tools and black washing the gray, he started looking evil. Then my brother's fiancé suggested I make lava come from his mouth. The blood shot eyes was a no brainer after that. Anyways, I beleive Playmates always had a miner or coal type theme in mind, but he didn't turn out quite right. Traag is one hell of a great mold. Not many notice how detailed he is. I know I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't get an extra in a lot.

The Donnie looks great, too. Where did you get the robe?
Thanks again :D

The rode, I know I've posted about it before...here we go:
Now, here's something neat. The Jedi robes that commonly come with Kit Fisto and Saesee Tiin (and a few others, I think) fit 2k3 figures very well. Casey can now have the coat he wore in The Shredder Strikes Back 2-parter and Leo can play find the Ancient One... :P
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/ToyCollection/JediLeo.JPG
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/ToyCollection/CoatsRobes.JPG
Pretty much just need to find a big headed Jedi with a cloth goods rode. I know for sure that Kit and Saesee (who is now out there single carded) rodes work. I haven't tried any of the newer soft goods robes, so they may have "fixed" the loosness. If you find a Kit, it should work because his head is huge.

EDIT: Here's the set I got them from:

Behold, 25th Shredder!
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/Shredder01.jpg

This started as the 2k3 design, but then I had some fun with it. As some may know, I like my Shredders with capes, so I wasn't happy until he had one. Lucky for me, I had a Batman cape that makes a great Ninja Tribunal style cape.
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/Shredder02.jpg

With Bishop:

Father/Daughter sparing:

With 2k3 Shredder:
http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m556/Blade_Raider/Kitbashing/TMNTcustoms/25thTMNT/Shredder07.jpg

So, time for the parts list.

Parts:
Head (under helmet) and skirt - Serpentor
Torso and upper arms - Zartan
Mask, middle of helmet crest, lower arms and legs - Resolute Storm Shadow
Feet - Comic Pack Storm Shadow (The shirtless one)
Helmet and side horns of crest - Budo
Claw gauntlet on left arm - RAH climbing claws (Not sure which figure they came with)
Shoulder armor and all other spikes - Mutations Shredder
Cape - Batman & Robin Batman cape.

I'm so happy with this one :D

Agreed -- that's really wicked, BR. :)

You say you got the spikes from Mutations Shredder, eh? Did you just cut them off and glue them to the appropriate places on the custom, or did you sculpt around them? Those spikes on the arms and legs look impressively seamless.

I started by yanking the spikes and their rubber likes pads off the figure (Just pull). Then I cookie cutted the spikes out, making sure to leave the undersides untouched. Leaving the underside alone kept it flat for easy gluing. Then I glued them on there real good. The glue and the parts just liked me and ended up looking like a single piece before I ever painted them.

On a side note, I'm thinking of getting the Mini-Exo-Shredder and cutting away the feet platforms so that my 25th Shredder, Foot, and Karai can use it.

Why yes, I'm planning on making every TMNT I can in this scale. I'm basing it mostly on the cast of 2k3, but only because it has the most doable designs. I don't plan on making Leatherhead or Krang. Playmates made their normal figures (2k3 Leatherhead and the small Anidroid Body Krang) tiny next to other TMNT figures and they are about on scale with these (I should dig out Leatherhead for my Foot to fight :P). I'm debating on if the Baxster from 2k3 is in the same scale or not. That robot body is pretty big after all.

I have Splinter near done (as shown above), have the body of the basic Turtle (I have a shell and head, but I'm not sure how to get them off the toy thier on), OT April is stuck in painting (Because yellow's a pain to paint with), I've decided on NT April, but having issues finding a body, and have most of Casey's parts together, but still working on gear (and damnable flesh tones).

Aside from those, the Foot is the main focus. I want an army. Shredder, Karai, Hun (thinking of using the upcoming MU Hulk), Tatsu (Why have I never seen a Tatsu custom? Surely someone's made him somehow), the 4 Elite Foot, and at least 30 Foot Ninjas (Not counting the one already made because I found a far better base. The old one will be changed into a Foot Archer). The reason for these are because Playmates sucks, I collect mostly in this scale, and my bro is a GI Joe fan with a 30+ army of Cobra Vipers and my friend in an Indy fan with 30+ Nazis. The Foot needs in on this awesomness and absurdness! Think about it, Foot vs. Cobra vs. Nazi. The insanity!...I'm rabbling now, ain't I?

Marvel Universe Ronin (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByAge.htm?ID=23662&CD=11)
Add bandana. Paint. Instant Foot Ninja. Not perfect, but for a custom troop builder, it works. The rode and armor part will be painted gray and the rest of the gold will be painted black (though I may have to aint the wholde thing black). Of cousre, I may not make 30 with prices the way they are. I'll aim for 1, then 10, then go from there.

and what are you using to make your Tatsu custom ?
I got to go, I'll get back to that.

I remember that now! I tend to forget customs with blurry pictures more easily (No offence meant).

and what are you using to make your Tatsu custom?
Okay, back. I may use Ronin for the base, but I'll more likly use the Storm Shadow/Training Snake Eyes (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=520&ID=22599) mold (because it's soooooo not to end up with 10 of them). The head (unless I find better) will be Hard Master's (same 2-pack as above). I'll replace the lower (a hopfully the upper) arms with generic Jedi arms (something like Obi-Wan's arms). Then for his legs, I'll rip off Palpatine's (http://www.rebelscum.com/tacOrder66-4.asp) soft goods rode (The legging, not the already removable one). The legs themself can be anything as long as they here Storm Shadow's feet.

I'm not sure how perfect that will be. I'd really like some good shots of Tatsu before I start.

Btw, just today I realized I are all the parts to make...Vernon! If the head wasn't reversed for another custom, I'd make him right now :P

So, on a Joe website, some was trying to get Turtles on scale with GI Joes. Since my main fonus is Joe scale TMNT, I figure I'd copy my post.

The Mini Ripped-Up Turtles are scaled best to GI Joes. However, no offical TMNT toy is on scale with GI Joes, the Mini Ripped-Up Turtles are just the closest.

The Turtles are offically 5'2" (though in recent years, Raph is taller and Mikey is shorter). April is 5'7". The Turtles normally come to April's shoulders (give or take). 5'9" is normal human height. If a normal Joe is 5'9", then Lady Jaye (who is a great April base) is normal human height. The MRU Turtles come to Lady Jaye's armpits (See first attach). That's within range of a non-perfect scale. Casey Jones and Shredder (I assume with gear) are 6'2", thus they should be the same size as Roadblock (Also a great base for Casey). My Shredder custom is the same height as Lady Jaye, so mine is off scale, but with the same range of a non-perfect scale. So, the MRU Turtles are a tiny bit off, but otherwise on scale.

The second picture shows the MRU Turtles with a Mini Mutant Raph (the black suit one). The figures in the post above [The Mini figures from 2k3] are a hair shorter than the Mini Mutant Raph. The Mini Mutants and Mini figures are just to small, but I guess they work if that's all you can get.

Blade Raider

Only 2 attachs per post? Odd. Anyways, here's the rest. Sorry for the double post.

The thrid picture is just scale fun. Aside from the TMNT being a bit off, the Power Ranger is a little big (It's 4"). Everything else is well within the range of a non-perfect scale...Now that I look at it, Stockmen isn't right. Leatherhead should be taller than him. Stockmen in that body is really tall though.

Wes

I like to think of the Turtles as being closer to 4' -- Donatello was the first Turtle I ever got, and the height listed on his profile card just stuck with me (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/toys/1988/don.htm) -- so I think those Ripped Up Turtles are almost perfect for inclusion among 3.75" figures. That 2K3 Leatherhead looks great among them as well!

I would definitely like to see more Tatsu customs.

Go right ahead. I don't find that combo cost effective enough for what I'm looking for. If there was a 2-pack that had both the butterfly SE and SS in it, I'd troop build that, but the butterfly SE is only in a hard to find wave and a 5 pack. I was thinking of making Karai's Foot (That have head gear like the normal SE's), but never got to it.

First up...

Empp.
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/Empp01.JPG
When getting such a close up shot of him, I realized that his gold is coming off. I need to redetail it. Anyways, his the smallest custom I've made. Originally, I used a Mini Goldar from Power Rangers as his toy. However, Goldar only had a single hip joint. That doesn't cut it. Mini Mutants Shredder had shoulders as well and I had an extra, so Empp lost his wings and gained some spikes.

Thief v1:
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/Thief-V1-01.JPG
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/Thief-V1%26V2JPG.JPG
Version 1 of Thief was used in Return to the White House Part I&II. I loved the design. MicroMen/Ladies are great figures...at first. The joints of these figures just don't hold up after about a month. By the time I was done with Return to the White, Thief could barely stand. In fact, after those 2 pictures, she couldn't hold a pose anymore.

So yeah, this Thief is retired.

Parts:
Head - VvV Jinx, Top/Gloves/Shorts/Shoes - ML-05 Microlady Wega (Black, M), Everything else - ML-17 Microlady Colline (Flesh, M), Cloth Goods Cape - Space Usagi.

Thief v2:

The new Thief. I figured this one should be fully clothed since v1 shows up in summer and v2 goes to the arctic. Anyways, I'm very happy and disppointed at the same time. She looks great, but she's 90% VvV Jinx and loses a lot of articulation. I want her in a 25th style body, but there isn't a figure that has the same facial traits nor body type. Anyways, VvV Jinx is one of my favorite female bodies. To make her look different, I added a cloth goods "dress" made from a Batman cape (which I'm now out of). While shooting TTT, some parts (the rubber like lower legs and arms) didn't always want to work with me, so I may try to upgrade her for the next time you see her. Thinking I can combine Bombstrike's upper arms with a 25th's lower arms to give her wrists.

Parts:
Hips - Bombstrike, Everything else - VvV Jinx, Cloth Goods "Dress" - Batman cape, Cloth Goods Cape - Space Usagi.

http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/ScarForte04.JPG

My first 25th custom. I ended up with a Red Ninja I didn't care one way or another if I had. I had a handful of Cobra Troopers. One head switch later and Scar was born. The hat finished the look. I was tired of the same old ninjas and decided to make him a ninja gunslinger. I decked him in guns until I reached 9 guns and his hand axe. He has two 45s on his hip holsters. A revolver under his belt buckle. Another hand gun under his belt (next to his axe). Yet another hand on his chest holster. A fictional hand tommy gun that's stored on his horse's harness. A huge machine, blaster, and missile launcher that's strapped to his back. Lastly, he has 2 more guns in his briefcase. Their his secret weapons, so I'm not showing them :P

His horse was added later because I needed a companion that wouldn't make him talk much, but not make him completely alone. The horse is Indy's and I don't have an extra, so it's unmoded.

Parts:
Head - Cobra Trooper, Body - Red Ninja, Feet - one of the "greenshirts" (not sure which), Hat - Hong Kong Elizabeth Swann (wish I had 5+ more of her hat and gear), Belt - Spy Troops Destro, Chest holster - a comic 2-pack Luke Skywalker, Briefcase - Marauder Gun Runners, Axe - MSIA Zaku II (red), Guns - All over the place (I'm still not sure on a few).

Oh yeah, if you haven't guessed yet, the horse does not have a name (or even a gender). I'm opened to suggestions.

Hopfully the next customs I can show are more 25th TMNTs.

Well, that guy right there could easily be one of the Foot that was hanging with Karai! Nice use of the Liz Swann hat, too. I love it when I actually recognize accessories from stuff I have! :D

Also, what happened with the Microman body after a month? Loose joints? I've only got three Microman figures, but I've never had any significant problems with any of them. Well, the one with the red chrome is experiencing some flaking, but that's par for the course.

Anyway, great work -- as always!

He could be a Foot, but who knows, he's an enigma (I've overthought character backgrounds before, so I'm just making him cool. Backstory later.). Wish I had 4 more of her hats for the Foot Elite.

The more you pose it, the more the joints loosen. That happaned with most toys, but there's no way to re-tighten them. That combined with bad QC and they can become pretty bad toys. The Micromen hold up better too (or at least the DC ones).

Plus, it's hard to replace if need be (The parts for Thief alnoe costed me more than $30 after shipping).

Anyway, great work -- as always!
Thanks :D

Hmmm... I bet you could totally tighten those joints. You're familiar with the glue techniques, yes?

While I could, this is an actor figure. It's joints have to hold up for a long time because I use them in comics. Micromen's joints get loose to fast for practically use. That, and their quite brittle to the point where I feel like I'm going to break them.

Anyways, time for a new 25th TMNT...

Back:
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/25thFootNinja%28Strongman%2902.JPG

With 01 - Foot Ninja (Archer):
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/25thFootNinja%28Strongman%2903.JPG

With all others (man, Bishop looks out of place):
http://vault.error-403.net/files/3/Customs/25thTMNT/25thFootNinja%28Strongman%2904.JPG

This was meant to be my troop builder Foot Ninja, but he's taller than everyone else (Including Shredder!) so I've nicknamed him Strongman. 01 is now Archer (quiver not finished).
That, and I don't like Ronin's hips. It has a T-bar like Joes, but it's made of soft plastic! Hard plastic would have been okay, but soft?! I hope the whole MU line ain't like this. So, I think I might just keep making different Foot types, then make 2-3 of each and they'll add up to the army I want. What type should be next?

EDIT: Oh yeah, think I should make the eyes gold or leave them as white?

Parts: Marvel Universe Ronin.

I KNEW YOU'D REPAINT THAT RONIN! As with the others, nice work.

Though I can't help but point out that, unless you got that figure on sale, I just got the 2-pack with 6" Elektra and Ronin for roughly the same price you paid for that tiny thing. :P

Like I'd ever want an Elektra figure

Also, It'd cost more than twice the price:
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?ID=21865&BR=820

It isn't cost effective enough for me to have to buy another figure I can't use (nor want). Also, that was released, what, mid last year? Prices on everything has jumped since then. I believe this is the biggest reason why Hasbro dropped MLs because they'd be $15 a pop now. Eitherway, I don't use the scale, so hush it :P

I got mine last week from walmart.com -- apparently it's sold out now, but it was $9. The Forge/Wolverine set is still available, though:

That's why I mostly buy stuff on clearance! :D

;) Still, I have no doubt that you'll get a tiny Elektra to make into a Foot kunoichi!

Clearance is awesome. It's how I got more Nazi Soldiers for $3 each, but ya can't find everything on clearance without taking a lot of time. Something I don't always have.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how the figure looks. The Ms. Marvel looks like a great female base for just about anything.

So, anyone know where I can get some good reference pictures of Tatsu? Think I have him figured out from extra parts, so need to check it.

From the movies, maybe? Or the comic adaptations of them? You know you at least have the DVDs! :D

But here's a ref pic from Hyperstone Heist:

I'd probably go with either of your Foot ninja bases and do a simple repaint/headswap... provided you can find the right head, of course.

Never seen the comic adaptation. Does he look different in them?

Anyways, I'm going with the movies. The problem with DVDs are I can't keep the still I need on screen while studying it. Even then, it's hard seeing the details. From youtube, I know that he's wearing mostly a very, very dull red. He just wears black on top and that's what most remember. I can't make out the emblem on his back (All I know is it's a word). My goal is to at least make this good enough to get that detail. Eitherway, I forgot about the sailor like collar, so I may have to put his aside until I find a good one. Oddly enough, to get a build-a-figure, I'm being forced to get a figure that may have just the right parts.

Another base for that would be the Hall of Heroes Storm Shadow. It's like my Foot Archer, but no sleeves and different arms and legs. Eitherway, I ain't making that version. Never played the game nor plan too (not that I'm against it, I'm just not much of a gamer). That, and I just plan don't like that design. It's boring and barely looks like Tatsu.

Looks like him to me... I mean, what more do you want from a 32 by 84 pixel sprite?

Anyway, you don't have a DVD-ROM drive (or a DVD remote with a pause button)? Just pause the DVD and take a screencap!

Or pause this and take a screencap, though the DVD will have better quality.

He also appears in TMNT: Manhattan Missions, wearing more/less the same outfit from the movie but different colors. Search for "Tatsu" in this article; you'll see the image link:

One of these days I'll add an editor's note regarding the "Leatherhead" reference.

Ha, those are a couple of good ones.

When I finally get back into customizing (and I acquire the final piece necessary), my Tatsu custom is going to be a pastiche of his movie and video game appearances.

If you want the movie Tatsu, the actor's name is Toshishiro Obata, he is also a martial artist.

With this armor maybe it will be a nice custom.

It's been a long time since I've showed off some 2th Turtles customs. Sadly, I have no good guys done, nor Tatsu.

Vehicle 01 - Technodrome Module:
From the moment the Mole Pod popped up on the net, I knew I was making me one of Krang's Modules. However, why did Hasbro make the bit a missile? It made this simple repaint far harder. First I had to shave the hell out of that missile, then remove the function (the button is some of that "unpaintable" plastic), then glue the dang thing in. Also, Mutagen Bazooka.

I finally got the parts I needed to make Casey Jones, but the head's giving me trouble.
