Amazon and Wal-Mart have changed pictures to the new 25th anniversary DVD covers of the original 3 TMNT movies and Rose even made a post about it on her blog. I'm curious, has anyone actually found these new covers anywhere? I ordered the original movie on DVD from Amazon a few weeks ago and received the same old DVD with the same old cover but i'm really wanting a set with these new covers so I just thought I would ask. None of my Wal-Marts even have any of the TMNT movies for sale so I can't check there. Anyway, thanks for any help...

EDIT: I can't see the covers to the blu-ray release coming in August as my computer won't let me, are they the same as the new DVD covers?

Yes I have and guess what? They're just slip covers with the old dvd cases under them ;)

That's good and bad. I watch the first movie a lot so I'll have to buy a new copy sooner or later. What sucks is that it's a dual-sided disc. I hate those things.

I saw copies of this new "special" (term used rather loosely) covers at my local Wal-Mart. They only had them for the first film (three at most, with the rest being without slip covers). And while, at first glance, they look all but okay, it's when you turn them around do you realize a problem. The back cover art isn't from the first movie at all. It's the turtles in attack mode, from the third film. This leads me to question, do they not have the rights tothose images (I'm not sure why they wouldn't, maybe something to do with Henson's costumes)? But even on WB's site, promoting the new box set, they use the costumes from part three. It's probably nothing to get too bent out of shape about; it just struck me as odd. I just can't believe that they'd find those costumes more appealing than either the first or second. This all but confirms (if it hasn't been already), that this new box set is a useless purchase on DVD (given one doesn't already own all four films), as it will just be a rehash of rehash. Here's hoping the Blu-Ray offers more of an incentive.

Thank you TMNT! I called my local Wal-Mart thanks to your answering my question and while they didn't have them they were able to look them up using the upc number from my old copy and they told me the closest store that did have them. It was a little out of my way but i'm an obsessive DVD collector and after staring at the old cover for so very long now this slipcover is a new and refreshing look that i'm tickled to have. They also had part 2 with the new slipcover but no 3. Thanks again!!!

I would assume the rights to the original costumes would have to be obtained from Henson Co. But, maybe the promo photography used on the first movie has been destroyed or they don't have the right to use it.
