Last night on the news there was a thing about these ecstacy type drugs that are in the shape of pills that look like various fictional characters. The camera showed the Superman Symbol, Bart Simpson and Transformers shaped pills. Well near the end of the segment I was totally laughing as the camera panned onto some that were shaped like TMNT. In my mind I was thinking "Does this mean the turtles have made it if people are making drugs that look like em?"
So much for their "Say no to drugs" and the special where Mikey's fighting the drug monster stuff. :P

U can't really see them real well on the link but the purple ones are the TMNT shaped ones.

While I obviously don't endorse this kind of thing, I do think there are a few misconceptions about these being "marketed towards children"
1. Just because something is shaped like a cartoon character, doesn't mean it is being targeted at children, ESPECIALLY when youre talking about the rave culture. Animation, cartoons, bright colors...these are all staples of the rave scene no matter what age you are. Some "designer" drugs are stamped with all kinds of things from Tweety Bird to the Mitsubishi logo. Does that mean the drug is being targeted at car enthusiasts? No, of course not. They just do that **** so they can tell them apart.
2. I also think it's funny that they somehow think that their kid is going to get these drugs given to them under the pretenses that they are NOT drugs. That is simply ridiculous. First of all, if you are at a rave, and someone gives you a pill, you know it isn't effing candy. You're at a rave for christ sakes. Secondly, if someone WERE to be given something like this under the pretense that it is candy, they would instinctively chew it, not swallow it whole. Chewing ANY drug (prescription or otherwise), especially when you think it is something else, is DISGUSTING! That is WHY you swallow them whole. If any child bites into one of these things they are going to spit it out, out of reflex. Third, these drugs cost the dealers money. They are not going to be trying to slip them into your sweet tarts for free.
This is simply more sensationalized crap so the drama addicted public has something to worry about. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go print some band logos on razor blades.

I used to work for dancesafe, an organization that promotes education over exclusion. People are going to do what they want to do regardless of what 20/20 tells them, so it is better to educate people on the truth (both the dangers and benefits) then to leave them in the dark to find out first hand what can really kill them. DanceSafe goes around to large raves and other similar events and chemically tests the pills before people take them so that you can be sure what youre taking is as safe as it can be. In return, both DanceSafe and the attendees, are granted amnesty.
I'm not going to post a link here, but you can google the company.

Ah! You found a pic of em! They come in a veriaty of colours apperantly...green and purple mostly (I saw the purple ones on the news report).
The Bart Simpson's also come in white.
You know, even though the concept of the whole thing about how far drugs are being made into shapes of famous characters is creepy, I'm sad to say I'm not surprised something like this has been done. People nowadays wouldn't expect capsules shaped as cartoon characters would be considered as a drug - they would most likely be thought as chewable vitamins. (I dunno that's kinda what they look like) -shudders- Chewable vitamins shaped as Flintstones characters, those were nasty, but at least not a drug.
Had many stale Flintstones Chewables as a kid? They always tasted good to me.

Stoners love the turtles and any old cartoons from the 90's. That will change soon when all the stoner 90's kids grow up and stop acting like retards. Then it will switch to kids now, which it already has actually, and they will think the same things. Retro is all "cool" now so stuff like an X pill shaped like a Ninja Turtle will make a stoner flip out.

I'm pretty sure drug dealers don't care about coypright infringement. That would be like A bank robber being concerned about the getaway car he stole.

I don't know how you're supposed to swallow those things unless they're pretty small... I feel sorry for someone trying to swallow the Bart Simpson one. The harp hair of his looks like it'll be painful going down.
But ****, as a kid back in the day, I might have fallen for the TMNT stuff. TMNT was everywhere. How could they possibly do you wrong?

I still say that someone needs to get them to at least stop and desist doing that. Drugs are illegal, copyright infringement is illegal... but no one gets the 2 messages that they're using cartoon characters that Children love to promote drug use, and not in a satirical way (come on... we've ALL seen those Chronic the Hemphog T-shirts in the 90's) is vile and putting the reputations of the cartoonists and copyright holders at risk.
Of course, if it were Peter Griffen or Master Shake, it would totally make sense then....:tanime:

Or retards who were sheltered as a child be right wing extremists, religious or otherwise, are to thick to see that making pills in the shape of cartoon characters has nothing to do with trying to get kids to buy them.
You know how much that **** cost? No drug dealer is gonna give away a 10-20 dollar pill for free and no little kid is gonna be able to afford that. Also a drug dealer trusting a little kid to not go home and tell their parents about what he does and where they got their drugs is a pretty stupid one. If kids are gonna do hard drugs they're gonna do them no matter what shape they were in. This guy on the news is a moron and people who believe him are even stupider.
