I do not know how true this is, however there is a rumor going around that James Avery has agreed to overdub all the script of Shredder for the release of Season 7? or DEF 8 9 and 10!
They will take out the horrible voicing of the actor they got to do Shredder and re do it with James!
I dont know if it's true because we would have heard more about it if he did it for Season 7! However i supposed Season 8 9 and 10 is def a possibility?
Did anyone else here about this? They are finally gonna right the wrongs done after he left to do that lame fresh prince show....

If it was true I would assume he would have mentioned it when he was interviewed by Isaac and the TurtleDoc guys...which I do not believe he did.

This is not possible. I highly doubt the original masters of this series are around. They use VHS tapes for the DVDs which is a testament to that. It would be more trouble then it's worth, and impossible to try and add his voice in and remove the other without the master. Also it would sound way off because the original was recorded in the 90's and the technology for mics was different back then. Unless they had the same mic that was used for the original recordings it wouldn't match, no two mics sound the same.
They'd also have to reanimate scenes. Shredder's mouth isn't seen moving but his eyes move and his head as well. It'd be really hard for him to try and emulate that. Especially since he has an established style. He'd have to talk slower or faster on lines then he would naturally want to. This part isn't impossible but the rest is.
So this is a BS rumor.

The quality of the transfers and the FHE logos on the end of some of them make it a fair assumption that they use the old VHS copies for the DVD transfer.

Bingo. Also it's obvious when the DVD transfers have tracking lines and other quality issues that wouldn't be present in the masters.

And bad ones at that. Although they might have the original audio masters. Comparing VHS to DVD the VHS audio is really LOUD....compared to the much more equalized DVD.
It's more obvious on the 1993 VHS episodes, so it'll be interesting to compare the two..

Well it wouldn't take anymore then dragging the VHS tape capture file into a timeline and lowering the volume on it to fix that.
All they probably do is get a DVD player that copies tapes to DVDs, copy the tapes to DVDs, rip the DVDs, and then assemble them into the final product DVDs.

Why would I have to "realize" that? Since when does my knowledge of how many episodes he was in have anything to do with big business and corporations? Maybe that's WHY he is willing, did you ever think of that? It's not much work so why not... :roll:
Anyway... for the rest of you who have been very rude to me. Due to your hostility toward me after sharing what I clearly stated was a rumor, I will NOT reveal my sources. I never have been attacked for bringing good news/rumors to a forum. Especially when I was new to the forum.
This is just a rumor I heard and as any TRUE Shredder fan, I was happy to hear the abomination which was his voice and overall character was going to be corrected since James is still alive.
To those of you who were not rude to me, it all started after James did that interview. Supposedly he was approached about it and agreed. Nothing is fact yet of course. I believe the pending issue is weather or not the studio will pay him for the over dub when they know fans will buy the DVD regardless and the can save they money instead.

If this is about my interview on hulu, I asked if he would be WILLING to record those lines again if approached, and he said yes. They ALL did. that doesn't mean it's going to happen.
If this is a different interview, then I'd like to see a link.
There was no Shredder at all in Season 9, folks.

The only one that I find unlistenable is Townsend Colemans Shredder.
On the other hand, I love Townsend Colemans Krang replacement. It's quite an original voice in and of itself.
His Shredder though sounds like the Rat King with a throat problem.

What the hell. So not only does Lionsgate screw up the episode releases, but they are also so damn lazy they don't even bother to transfer from the masters? That's bullcrap.

He (James) said that would have no qualms with reprising his role to re-dub the episodes he wasn't in, but not that that he was asked, has, or was going to do it. Only that if someone came to him with the idea he'd do the re-dubs.
