For the last ratings report for the third episode (I think), it was in the 3.X range, I believe. This week (for "Meet Casey Jones"), it only got a 2.5. :tsad:

It's a cartoon that's based on a comic where a kid is affected by thie weird purple goop, and gets electrical powers. He surfs around on a manhole cover by using his powers. That's pretty much it.

I forgot about that, that's true. But that other new show (which I don't watch at all) isn't very far behind. I hope I don't see ratings in the 1.X range for TMNT.

I don't think too many kids are watching Static Shock either. I heard it was cancelled. I actually caught some of it during the commercials between TMNT just because the Justice League was making an appearance. It's not a horrible show, but its nothing at all compared to TMNT.

Aztec General
03-07-2003, 09:42 PM
I'm very scared by those numbers. Shows with good buzz tend to start out fairly hot. The ones that succeed STAY hot. The one's that do not fizzle quickly. This decrease in numbers means the show has LOST/Failed to capture viewers. This is never a good thing. This show definetely has the fan boy approval but I just hope it gets at least a decent percentage of the child audience.

One good sign is that it is still the best on the Fox Box. Which means that Fox will almost certainly bring it back next season and so on.

Another thing to consider is that NOTHING on the Fox Box has good ratings. So it's not just the TMNT that have to prove something to the kids it's the Fox Box as a whole. Hopefully the kids will come around. What doesn't help is that the rest of the shows on the Fox Box suck!

Well I hope last week was just a fluke and the show returns to the middle 3s, which is respectable and by far the highest on the Fox Box. I want the show to be popular and do well but I don't want a repeat of the first show's popularity.

Spread the word my friends. Tell all of your comic/sci-fi/fantasy/action loving friends to watch.

I find it very amusing when people say they've "outgrown" the TMNT when in fact it didn't start out as that stupid kid's show of the 90s.

All I can say about them is that they remind me too much of the "popular" type who aren't into anything underground or good. Yeah, you heard me right; if it's mainstream, it sucks. It's only there to satisfy the dupes of the world who wouldn't know good stuff if it bit them on the rear!

Karpo_007

How DARE you say TMNT is mainstream! 99% of the people I know are the mainstream type, and they hate TMNT. The music they listen to is "manufactured", meaning the person who sings it didn't write any of it at all yet gets more attention and money than those who are truly artisitic and come up with their own stuff that sounds 4000000000 times better than this pop stuff. The TV shows they watch are just as brainless, nothing but sitcoms full of one-liners that frankly make no sense and are full of laugh tracks to let the idiots know when to laugh....

Stopping there.

I must admit, I'm disappointed with the lower rating, but to be honest, it doesn't surprise me either. One of the main reasons some shows become popular is if they are on before and/or after an already popular show. (It's worked for many successful shows in the past, I believe Seinfeld and Friends are good examples). People are more willing to sit through a show before so they can see the one they really like.

The problem is that the Fox Box is not supplying shows for all kinds of tastes. The shows are all rather bland, or just, well.....stupid. *thinks about Ultimate Muscle, Kirby, and Fighting Foodons* :sweatdro: TMNT is ALL I watch on FoxBox now, while in the past I spent much of my morning sitting in my PJ's so I wouldn't miss any of the shows.

TMNT alone can't save the FoxBox, and if the Box goes out, so do the Turtles.... :(

TMNT alone can't save the FoxBox, and if the Box goes out, so do the Turtles.... :(

That's what I'm afraid of. If you compare the TMNT to the other shows on the FoxBox it is THE best, both content and rating wise. The problem is that very few people are watching the FoxBox in general. The WB's lineup is very strong right now.

Karpo_007

Can you give some "popular" cartoon's ratings for comparison?

One Radical Dude
03-08-2003, 05:18 PM
Low ratings, I believe, is what caused the Fox Kids lineup to die. I certain hope this doesn't happen to FoxBox. The WB network and ABC Kids dominated the ratings last week. Of course, so did Nickelodeon. Jimmy Neutron got a 5.6 (I believe that's the number of household in the millions that watched the show.) The other number (the 19), I'm not sure what that is. So, last week at the 10:30 am slot, this is how it stacks up.

Static Shock (5.9/20) - WB
Jimmy Neutron (5.6/19) - Nickelodeon
The Proud Family (3.8/13) - ABC Network
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2.5/9) - Fox Box
House of Mouse (2.1/7) - Disney
Spider-man (0.5/2) - ABC Family

There may have been a few other shows that were an hour or more long, but they got lower ratings in the 1.X or lower.

Karpo_007

Considering that TMNT has been on the air for 5 weeks, thats not too bad. And it is the most popular on Fox box. And I doubt they will be shutting it down. And If they won't, the future of the cartoon looks good.

I have to agree. Although I think Static Shock is terribly stupid, it is quite popular right now. I think it would be best for FoxBox to have the TMNT on at 10 or 11 for a while to build up an audience, then have it go head to head with SS. TMNT is the "flagship" of the FoxBox but it doesn't have enough steam to take on SS head to head yet. Although that's not to say that Static Shock is a better show, because it surely is not. In fact I think TMNT is one of the, if not THE best, action cartoon(s) on tv in a long time.

Unfortunately, I don't think going to 10:00 or 11:00 is going to help TMNT at all. Do it at 10, and the show will have to deal with Pokémon (from the WB) with a 5.1 rating last week, Lizzie McGuire (ABC) had a 4.5, and Family Oddparents (from Nickelodeon) with a 6.0. Going to 11 may make very little difference. Yu-Gi-Oh! (WB) had a 5.1, Kim Possible (ABC) had a 3.3, and Rocket Power (Nick) had a 5.0.

Actually, I think that the best route for the show would have been to join the other 80's remakes and went on Toonami. I mean, come on, whou WOULDN'T want to sit through HeMan (with the original voice of Leo as HeMan), TMNT, and then Transformers, even though Transformers Armada is basicly Pokemon. Personally, I'm hoping that Cartoon Network will make the bid to DonWoo/Mirage and get the show the hell off the FoxBox and into a decent time slot where the show will have a chance to grow and thrive. See, the thing is that people are stuck remembering the old show and are of course going to believe anything with the TMNT name on it will be kiddy and crap, which the new show really isn't. Ladies and Gentlemen, let us not kid ourselves any further. This show was made for US. This was to appease the fans growing up who read the comics and was disgruntled with the cartoon because it was NOTHING like the comics. The personalities were even tampered. This show was made for the fans, but put in the 10:30/9:30 timeslot to try to appeal to the younger audience. How many of you began squeeling when it came on with "My name is Leonardo. We took a wrong turn and are now cornered in a trash strewn ally, backs against the wall, by the toughest street gang around"? I mean, I was literally bouncing in my chair. I even got a call from a friend, yelling "MOUSERS!!!" when the little steel contraptions showed up on her tv screen. I believe that the fox box is a test of our loyalty to the Turtles, as was Next Mutation... Oh, and does anyone have a copy of Power Rangers in Space where the TMNT showed up and beat the crap out of them? Anyway, later.

Actually, some networks are stupid enough to get rid of their best shows and/or shows with large, LARGE fanbases if they feel that, by some strange cosmic twist of fate, it would best serve the network's reputation to no longer have the show in their line up. TMNT, no matter how much they don't want it anymore, have a certain reputation. The cartoon in the later years began a serious downhill decline, getting rid of many fans. In fact, most aren't even aware of the fact that the show ran from 1985-1995, with Next Mutation coming about in 97. All I'm trying to say is don't get your hopes up. But, Peter Laird has confirmed, on several occasions, that the new show will not be canceled until the prearranged 26 episode story arc is complete. So relax, grab a videotape, a slice of choco-puff pizza (cocoa pebbles work better, trust me), and sit back for the ride.

No doubt about it. This is a FAN BOY/GIRL show! This is the show for Mirage comic loyalists who were dying for so long to see their favorite comic book characters portrayed accurately (besides the first movie). It is also important to note that this show is not just a TMNT Fanboy show, it is a Fanboy show in general. The show has been on for 5 weeks and they've already made numerous references to other comic books, made fun of the old show, and have inserted numerous "smart" jokes.
