I'm sure the first question on many people's minds will be 'I wonder if they have the lost episodes on there?'

I don't care, but I'm glad to know when the next season is being released. Only two more to go. You would think that they would just release the last three seasons at once, in different packages, on the same day. At least I think they should. But just two more left. Yay, almost complete!!

Edit: And what the hell is a Neon 'O' Card? Is it going to be packaged really cheaply, since it says it will be affordable for everyone? I'm sure we'll learn more and more the coming months, though.

Retail price is $14.99, so I am guessing it will cost $9.99 at Amazon and Best Buy like the Season 7 "slices".

The press release does not mention bonus materials, so I guess the "lost" episodes are still in limbo.

TVshowsonDVD.com is saying $14.98. Hopefully Wal-Mart and Amazon will offer it for an even more competitive price like they did with the last season. :-)

Wow, Season 8 already! Awesome.

Although we still need to get Lionsgate to release, "Once upon a time machine" and "Planet of the Turtleoids" on DVD.

Someone...we're dying here.

I'm fairly certain that this news suggests that those missing episodes will be saved for Season 10. It just makes more sense to use them as a purchase-incentive when their best-selling volume already has half of that season included.

Anyhow, thanks for that news, stud. :)

For only 8 episodes, which I'm assuming will be on just one disc, I won't pay $15. $10 seems like a decent price, but $15?

Thanks for the episode list, too. I can't wait for this season to be released. Not that I think I'll like it, I just want to go ahead and get every season in my collection. Amazingly, I STILL don't have Season 5. Don't know why, but I just never have gotten it.

The season 7 slices only had like 6-8 episodes a piece for the same price. Its no different than the last release.

I paid $10 a piece for each Season 7 release, so if YOU paid more than that, you got duped in my opinion. But if you don't care to pay that for it, go right ahead. I just personally won't pay more than $10 for that many episodes.

Edit: And Sept. 1st instead of Sept. 8th, that's awesome. Even sooner...

It is nice to see season 8 coming out so quickly. It is too bad we probably aren't getting any of the missing episodes as a "bonus" on it. Hopefully, the season 10 set has the 3 missing episodes since some episodes of season 10 have already been released on DVD.

While I agree, I'm pretty sure it'll just be edited stock art from the 07 movie with some ghetto background.

We dunno, pray about it.

This is great news. I think they should do all 3 seasons together at once, I'll take them on separate volumes even like they did with season 7. Whatever though great they're doing this.

Maybe we'll get a full series set at the end of it all. Some of you might think it's a rip but mine disks have been played a lot and a back up is needed anyways.

Pretty sure Seasons 9 and 10 will arrive in 2010. Lionsgate will want to milk out the last remaining eps.

Say what you will, I got to commend Lionsgate for getting almost all of the series on DVD. I never believed we would get this far, I thought they'd stop after Season 3 or something.

I am pretty confident we'll see Season 9 and Season 10 next year, and this time Season 10 will be in correct order.

The only thing we need is the 3 skipped eps, and all those "Turtle Tips" shorts that had new animation.

That cover is decent. Yeah, I'd say it's alright, even. It's like, when I'm going through my shelf and think, "Hey, what's this one about?", all I have to do is look at the cover and say, "Oh, this must be about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And blue lines. And a mosh pit full of purple midgets. Man, those midgets sure do love their blue lines. I totally remember that one."

So if your critera for good covers involves purple midgets and blue lines at all, I guess I can recommend this one. I'll have to give it two different scores:

As a fan of Ninja Turtles - 6/10.

As a fan of purple midgets raving in blue, geometric voids - 10/10.

You think he's bad here? Just check out his posts on the Shout Factory forums...

Really, he's pissed off the guy in charge of animated DVD releases on several occasions because he has 200 posts on nothing but the same several questions.

I pulled this news item from tvshowsondvd.com. The following could potentially be the box cover art.

Personally, I thought Lionsgate might incorporate a Red Sky theme into the last few seasons, seeing as how they are radically different from the seven seasons that preceded them.

Guess not.

Anyhoo, discuss! What do you think of the box cover art? Yay or nay?

You mean if they put them on those two. They could put them on the new season 7 set, or put all of them on 9, or all of them on 10, give them their own disc, or just say eff 'em.

I personally hope they put "Time Machine" on season 9 and "Turtleoids" on 10.

They should put the 3 missing episodes on the season 9 dvd set because season 9 doesn't have any episodes with Shredder and that could help the sales. Season 9 dvd set could have 2 discs one with the missing episodes and the other with season 9 episodes. They should also release The Turtles And The Hare episode again with Once Upon A Time Machine so those episodes can be watched in the correct order with the other syndicated episodes.

They haven't given TMNT the "star treatment" it deserves, but you really can't say that they don't care about it... They've released 174 episodes out of 193 with more to come. Yeah, the box art sucks and the packaging is questionable, but that really don't matter.

I guess the big biter would be the skipped episodes. They didn't do this on purpose, just a (random and inexplicable) bonehead move of changing episode list sources.

Yeah, they could have done like they wanted and released "The Epic Begins" as Volume 1 and just followed it up with random compilations of 3 eps each (until poor sales made them throw in the towel), but they didn't. Sure, that was Artisan's call, but Lionsgate was always their parent company.

Yeah, I broke the news of their plans on ToonZone, and later heard through the grapevine that David Wise brought the thunder down on them. But, I'm pretty sure I did actually say that was their original plan. So... I'm not understanding where the argument is.

He's just a writer, he doesn't have any actual sway over the series now. He did convince them that no longtime fans would want to buy "The Epic Begins," though, so they listened.

Still, at no point did they ever have to release the entire series. Yet here we are, sixteen (well, nineteen) episodes away.

1. T'is a kick in the nuts. But it's only three, and they are out there on VHS. I know that's a lame excuse but it's the only way I can solve the problem.

2. Who cares? You only see the spine on your shelfs anyways.

Here's the strange thing about this release though. I know that, in the past, they've released DVD's that only had 6-10 episodes (like the very first one, when they released it via Artisan) on them.

But...what I don't get is...okay, Seasons 8, 9, and 10 have about 8 episodes for each season. Which is about 24 episodes total. And many normal TV series release sets that have 24 episodes (the new House Season 5 DVD has 24 episodes). That's not counting the fact that they released Season 4 of the old toon which had what...39 eps or something like that?

So, why didn't they just release the last 24 episodes into one set...that way, we as fans could have the entire old toon on DVD just in time for the 25th anniversary of the characters. You could call it "The Red Sky Set" or "The Red Sky Era" or just simply "The Red Sky Episodes". You could even add the 3 other missing ones (again since Season 4 was released with 39 eps.) and then call it a day.

I know, we're lucky that we're getting it. But that doesn't mean that we can't call "BS" when we see it, ya know? But, don't listen to me, I'm just being silly lol.

I don't have a problem with 8 ep releases, but atleast beef them up a bit. There are missing eps, un-interviewed VA's, turtle tips, toy commercials. I'll let this one slide, but if season 9 is just 8 episodes I'll most likely boycott.

I ordered mine from Amazon yesterday.

Looking back on the season, and having watched a few episodes by other means recently, it honestly might be my favorite after Season Seven. Every episode is relatively strong. Maybe it's just the sheer novelty of seeing continuity back in the show, Shredder and Krang being a threat, and self-doubting Turtles after sticking to the status quo for so long. But even the other villains are great. I love Beserko and H.A.V.O.C. and the Rat King's one appearance.

I think I really would've liked to see the "Red Sky" style stick around for a while longer with the revolving door of villains. I'm fine with Dregg being the main villain, but had the last two seasons been more willing to revisit past threats or introduce new one-offs, the show could've ended on a really high note.

Sorry I know that is a silly question, but its something I haven't been dwelling on a lot till now.Yes, there are two more eight-episode seasons. After season eight, all former baddies are phased out of the show to make way for one-off monsters and the new main villain, an alien warlord named Dregg. It's still enjoyable, but as I was saying, not near as fun as seeing all the classic villains presented in a darker light.

Just bought it and saw the first 4 episodes. Pretty interesting eps, the stakes seem higher, the tone is a tad more serious and the Turtles are facing stuff like self-doubt and being arrested.

I do wish they could have done something about the kiddy fighting. The plots are strong, and the staredowns and tough talk is awesome, but then actual fighting is still just tying them up or throwing a sai or cutting something so it will fall on the bad guys. I know toons had limits back then, but a bit of awesome spin-kicks, backflips and actual punching and kicking would have helped alot.

Yeah, one of the things I noticed was that it seemed every battle involved Raphael throwing a sai at a gun and it exploding.

This season, for me, was depressing. Not really a bad thing but all of the things you become familiar with in the first 7 seasons aren't there anymore. Vinnies and other settings. Even the channel 6 building is gone. I like how it feels more threatening but at the same time, it'd be nice if it felt more like home once in awhile. lol. Even the liar feels cold and desolate... they achieved what they wanted in the cartoon.

This was only my second time watching season 8, and the first since 2002. Not a fan of the continued aliens that seem to come from anywhere and everywhere. I don't mind if they have a connection to dimension X but it seems like a cop-out having a random alien (or even mutant) come from nowhere with no real explanation.

My favourite episode, though, was Turtle Trek. I liked the battle in Dimension X and seeing the technodrome roll one last time was exciting! I liked how it was a different colour because of lack of light or whatever. It looked magical!

I don't think I can wait for season 9....!!! I watched the entire series (minus the 3 missing episodes) for the first time in order and started back in the spring. I'll probably do it again once the last two seasons come out.

Every villain in season eight had a backstory, with the exception of the Glaxxons, who are the only "random aliens" I can think of.

Dregg is probably the last truly random alien in the series. He really does show up out of nowhere. But every one-off villain after that is at least connected to Dregg in some way.

I thought about it after when I was thinking about the mutants of H.A.V.O.C. being random but that was explained when Titanus was said to come from the future. At first it seemed all of these mutants came from nowhere but he formed them from humans with his mutating machine.

I guess it just seemed to me that in the earlier seasons, whenever other mutants or aliens showed up, they felt so rare and such a big deal whenever they did show up that it seems as the later seasons go, it becomes more and more easier to create mutants and alien appearances seem more common.

That's probably because the writers realized kids get bored when the only villains on the show besides Shredder and Krang are mad scientists.

Yeah, Tyrannus was a lame design, but he was more bad-ass than the mad scientists and more serious than the incompetent Shredder. Note how he also didn't have incompetent henchmen. They were mostly serious and weren't always called or treated as idiots. And seeing how Shredder was almost always on the run whenever the Turtles showed up, it just made ol Shred-Head look like a wimp.

I remember finding this odd when I was a kid watching this stuff, being that Shredder was actually shown in the (if I am not mistaken) 2nd season to be able to handle the turtles all by himself.

I didn't question it too much though, instead I just went with Shredder always high tailing it out every single time, but yeah .. this was a recurring thought.

Titanus' look kind of reminded me of Mojo from the X-Men cartoon, although he thankfully wasn't as annoying as him. Although I didn't like Titanus' look, I did like the H.A.V.O.C. group in general.

Most of the stores I have checked only carry the last couple volumes, any ideas?
