2k3, but I also like FF & BTTS.
Then again I've only watched about five episodes of the original cartoon.

I don't really like FF or BttS at all, to be honest. And while the OT does have the whole nostalgia factor going, it doesn't seem all that good to me now as it did when I was little (though the theme song still kicks ass). So, I'm gonna have to go with 2k3.

I could never pick between the 2003 and 1987 series. Although I find myself rewatching the 1987 series more, probably because it's easier to just sit down and watch a single episode.
As for the 2003 cartoon, it's really just one seven season cartoon. To that effect, seasons one through four are the best, followed by Fast Foward, followed by season five, followed by Back to the Sewer. The only two seasons I particularly don't like are season five and Back to the Sewer.

2k3 by far, seasons 1 - 5. Then followed by Fast Forward. BTTS and original toon pretty much stunk for me.

2k3 (non BTTS or >>) for overall story. OT for the nostalgia.
The rest, I don't really care about. I tend to favor the 2k3 series because of its closeness to the original comics.

I love both the 2k3 series and the original toon there both very diffrent shows one was more about action and drama the other was lighthearted action fun. I prefer the 2k3 series the most since its has more in common with the mirage books then the other does.
I'm not a fan of the FF BttS seasons of the 2k3 though. Nor was I a fan of the Red Sky seasons of the OT although they didn't get a name change.

As for the 2003 cartoon, it's really just one seven season cartoon.
4Kids doesn't seem to think so (and neither do I) since they almost always have FF and BttS specifically distinguished apart from the 2k3 series. Even in the TMNT Top Ten voting poll, they have FF and BttS separated as different shows from 2k3.
That being said, I don't think of FF and BttS as seasons of 2k3, but rather as spin-offs. Much like how Pinky & The Brain was a spin-off of Animaniacs, and Pinky, Elmyra & The Brain was a spin-off of Pinky & The Brain (wow, a spin-off of a spin-off!).
The original series. The definitive, the funnyest, and the most original.
Not sure I'd call it definitive, personally. It seems a bit misleading to call the OT definitive (I think "most well known" is a better choice of words, in my opinion). But I do agree that it was the funniest.

I go by general consensus and what remains first and foremost in the public domain. You think Batman has shaken off Adam West by now? Nope. It is, to them the defining thing ABOUT Batman...everything else is a neat and edgy bonus.
In that sense, the movie, the realization the source material is darker, and the mdoern series are a near and edgy bonus...but TMNT is never going to shake the original series or the remaining characters

2K3 hands down. FF was okay, but when BttS started to air, I lost interest after a couple episodes :\ I think it's the whole "cyberworld" concept it's got going on.
Is BttS still airing? O_o

I don't really prefer either over the other, it's all about my mood. The OT has a nostalgic feel to me and still makes me laugh, but the new toon is more action packed and story/character driven. I love both....

True. It would prpbably get only two votes, yours & mine.
Just because they played as a band, had a jeep & Raph's motorcycle, a pirate radio show & a 5th turtle whose female, doesn't mean it's the Ugly Duckling of the bunch.

Even as I've seen a loot of the original 1987 cartoon on TV when I was younger and having a few nostalgic feelings about it -> I prefer the 2k3 series.
Watching the original cartoon today is still fun, but for me it is bit too "slapsticky".
The first seasons of the 2k3 cartoon were extreamly great but I still don't like these "spacie" FF. :ohwell:
"Back To The Sewers" is OK but I like the "original 2k3" episodes better :)

Out of those 2K3 easy. There was so many great stories, animation and music. Plus it had HEART. You could feel the strong family bonds between them.
Most importantly Raph was portrayed right.

Gotta be old school original series. Wackiness rules! I agree with the guy who said it was "definitive." You ask anyone about Ninja Turtles (who isn't a fan) and they think of the goofy pizza eating guys.
I was a fan of the black and white Mirage stuff as a pre-teen, but man, that cartoon was awesome. The new stuff doesn't even hold a candle. Of course it's hard to compare a cartoon I am seeing as a grown man to a cartoon I loved as a kid...

I voted for the 2003 Turtles because it's closer to the original comics and takes the turtles more seriously. But the 1987 toon is second, because even though it was slapsticky and corny, it introduced me to the turtles and made me fall in love with them , had a banging ass theme song, and had alot more mutants and great characters than the 2003 toon. FF and BTTS were just dumb to me.

As much as I enjoyed the OT when I was younger, TMNT 2K3 gave me a different view of the turtles, which then lead me to discover the Awesome Mirage Comi books and I can still watch them today. I do enjoy watching the OT every once in a while, but I can't bear some of the episodes that are just way too goofy. But then you get gems like planet of the Turtleoids and Revenge of the Fly and it's tough, but I still choose 2K3. Plus the OT games totally own the newer games.

I also grew up on the OT, but prefer 2K3. I'll find myself enjoying random episodes from the OT too, but the storytelling and characterization of the turtles is just so much more mature (..and just better imo).

2K3. I watched the OT every day after school, rocking the plastic katana and a blue "mask" made of construction paper... but nowadays, a lot of it just makes me groan. I still love it for what it is, but part of me resents it because its biggest overall contribution is that TMNT will never be seen by most people as anything other than goofy kids stuff. I never read Mirage til I was almost 20, so I'm not exactly a purist, but I think 2K3 was more of a show that any kids and adults would like, not just adults who grew up on the old show.
Plus my 10-year-old niece just got into TMNT, and it was from the new toon. I got her the movie 3-pack, just to make sure she stays devoted. :D
The old show did have some better stuff, though. Better theme song, better-drawn April, and Shredder wasn't an Utrom. All opinions, of course. I feel like 2K3 had a better balance of humor with action, though. Still havent watched anything of FF and beyond, though. Got some catching up to do.
I love the 2k3 series character developments, and the simply better story lines which is why I voted for it. However, when I want to laugh at something corny and get in a good mood, then I'll watch the old one's. I actually forgot how funny Shredder was untill watching them recently. So the old one's are definitely a close second in my opinion.

I voted for the 2003 cartoon, for a couple reasons.
*You had some darker, serious moments for older folks (like seeing Shredder's head fall off of his shoulders, the "Same As It Never Was" episode)
*You had some moments of emotion and arc (Leo getting stabbed and becoming sort of emo/angry for a while, times were the turtles were worried about one another, Raph crying when Leo was hurt/in a coma)
*Personally I'm a sucker for the Raph/Mikey relationship, which is very much in play in this series. The whole 'picking on each other/making fun of each other' was fun and entertaining.
*Good animation/artwork, and I enjoyed the voice actors
All in all, love the 2k3 series.

The original toon. I can't sit through the new one sometimes and I never got past season 2. I did like Fast Forward but can't stand back to the sewers.
While it's not my favorite I do appreciate the new toon and era of Turtles.

I like all those listed for different reasons, except Back To The Sewers. OT has a special place, 2K3 is good to an extent, I however enjoy FF the most out of that list. The original episodes helped keep me interested. I got tired of bad comic adaptations. The best episodes of 2K3 had no comic tie-ins except maybe characters. The only exception being a few season one episodes and "I'Monster", which had it's own brand new twist added to it. I'd vote for 2K3 but it has a higher magnitude of bad episodes. FF obviously didn't have as many because it was shorter but oh well. Season 5 of 2K3 and most of 2 were pretty bad in my opinion. I felt like they were a waste of that awesome animation. I also didn't like the first part of season 3.

I think the 2003 TMNT cartoon has taught many people what TMNT originally was. Back in 2003 I didn't even know about comic books aimed to older people.

Well, the Original got my vote, simply because of the good memories that go with it. But, in all honesty, that little bit is all that tips it over the 2k3 series. I personally like the Original and 2k3 series equally, just for different reasons.
2k3: Love the action, loved the darker storyline, love the Leo-Raph interaction. Leo and Raph get a ton of story lines. April and casey were much more intriguing to me.
80s: Love the cheesiness at times, I fell in love with this version of Mikey, and I thought Don and Mikey got more attention here. I liked all the crazy mutants that showed up as well.

I think the TMNT work better together in the 1987 cartoon. Sometimes one gets away (but returns back) but they don't fight each other (except "Splinter No More", but that's Shredder's machine).

I've totally got to go with OT. It has a ***king sweet theme song...that also happens to be my cell phone's ringtone. It was corny, slapstick, and totally off base with the comic books; it did, however, give me my first exposure to the Turtles. That has to be worth more than anything else...right?
