By "invitation only" I don't think it implies that the public isn't welcome, it just means that you can't walk off the street and into the viewing. They obviously have limited room, so the "invitations" are to control how many people show up. This is actually quite common for events that take place around Comic-Con. Last year I ran around downtown San Diego doing a scavenger hunt-type thing to "win" entrance into a preview of the pilot episode of Fringe. In the end, not enough people followed through on the activity so that there were a lot of empty chairs still available and they were just allowing anyone to just come up from off the street. Another year they were passing out "tickets" to a preview screening of The Island on the Con floor, an event for which there were WAY more tickets handed out than there were seats (and the "ticket" said quite clearly that it didn't guarantee you seat), so people got turned away from that. I expect the TMNT event to be more like the Fringe screening, as they're making you go through some amount of effort.

Ahh, cool. That makes a bit more sense. I just figured this was a 'job well done' type of thing where only staff and people who worked on it got to view it with a select few fans. I assume we'll be getting tweets the instant it starts..then cybercubed can go on obsessing about something else :).

But to your actual question, I've come to find Twitter to be rather neat. Even if you don't tweet yourself, it's kinda cool to follow certain celebrities and companies. The rabbit rescue group I work with has taken to it like MAD to the point where it's virtually being used like an instant messenger program.

The event is invitation-only, but attendees (21 and over) will have the opportunity to win tickets by being one of the first 150 people to collect the five TMNT buttons (available at Ubisoft, uclick, Prima Games, Sideshow Collectibles booths and the Party Bus in Horton Plaza). In addition, tickets will be given out at select times and locations in the Convention Center for some lucky fans.

Uclick used to be GoComics, who still host the TMNT newspaper strip on their site daily. They've also published some issues of Tales as apps for the iPhone.

Speculation about what Sideshow is up to happened in the original thread on this topic.

No. Those statues are from the 90s and were never meant for retail sale.
