Mirage April enquiry

Did someone once mention here that April O'Neil was actually based on a real person, and is that true?

Just gathering some info on something I am working on, and is something I'd rather ask other fans about.

Kevin Eastman has said that April was named after an African American woman he once knew. I don't think that means she was actually "based" off of her; just named.

That must be where that old argument if April was intended to be black or not came from as well.

I remember that argument in a thread here before and it was stated it was more likely that april was hispanic based on her hair.

Kidding. But really, I had no idea there was a brunette version of April. I always thought she was a redhead.

She was named after Kevin's girlfriend at the time. Hey here's a cool idea: Why not head over to the Heavy Metal forum and make a post in Kevin's section and ask him yourself? I'm sure he'd eventually answer ya. :]
