Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Suprise Subtitle

So, I got my TMNT collection on Blu-Ray today and to my surprise, the third movie is listed as, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. When the hell did this happen, and why? Well, I guess they did the same thing with the Rambo movies, so...sure, why not?

The first thought that came to my mind was maybe they were trying to tie it in with the re-released X-Box live version of Turtles in Time. But I really don't think people would rush to buy the new arcade remake after seeing Ninja Turtles 3.

Not that the third movie really necessitates a lot of discussion or anything, I just found it weird that after all this time, now they would officially change it. :P

Yeah, I had seen Jester ask if it was official now, but didn't see a response.

I don't know, I guess I was just hoping for some finger on the pulse of the fandom insight. Something other than "Fans have called it that for years, so they changed the title to align with that." Which honestly, is probably all it is.

Uhh actually no. 1 is TMNT, and 3 is TiT (Turtles In Time) not Tint.

"Turtles in Time" appears on both the box and on the disc, but not the opening title screen.

No. "The turtles are back... in time" was a tag line. You don't see anyone calling the first movie "Lean, mean and on the screen". As I said in another thread:
I'm suppposing it's probably some word-association cross-promotion with the Reshelled videogame. Kinda dumb, if you ask me.

I remember when I was a kid and during an Eastman and Laird interview in the the old Ninja Turtles magazine they mentioned the 3rd movie being made: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: A Feudal Fable. It was the Christmas issue with I believe a Dooney drawing of Donatello on a snow covered roof top.

I just finnished watching all 3 tmnt film on dvd upcovered in 720p and they don;t look to bad at all. Surpisely TMNT looked the best. I am hoping when I get the blu-ray's it's a step up from the dvd's. thats all I could ask for. also TMNT 3 is not bad at all i acutally liked it for the frist time. I guess when we are older we can look at movies diffirently.

The first Turtle flick, while much more detailed, also brings with it some of the worst grain I've seen in a film. WAYYYY more noticable on Blu-Ray, and it is horrendous.

The detail in characters though, look good. However it is so hard to look past with all that grain.

1080p grain = no thanks.

TMNT II looks kinda bright but very detailed. Still haven't popped in part III to check it out.

TMNT I never took out of the box, because I own it on Blu-Ray already.

Though, Inu-Yasha didn't exist back then. But ya, since Inu-Yasha is known as "A Feudal Fairy-Tale", it is pretty similar to called TMNTIII "A Feudal Fable". Despite that, though, I still prefer that subtitle over "Turtles in Time", if only because I don't want to associate such an awesome game with such a horrible movie.

I know, but even he referred to it as a loose sequel. I know it's fiction, but the main problem (among others) is that it's been way too long for them to be as young as they were.

Did 58 years really pass in the story between Alien and Aliens when Ripley was on ice, or the 7 years in real time between films? Did 24 years really pass in the story between Superman II and Superman Returns, because that's how long it was in between movies?

What, the comics? For a couple of years at the beginning of Volume 4. And the beginning of Volume 3 (no longer canon).

The first time I heard TMNT 3 referred to as "Turtles in Time" was on the ninjaturtles.com site back in the '90s. For some reason they would reference it as such in certain areas. This was in like 1997 or so when the Saban show was coming out.

Didn't they mention 1603 and 1993 in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III" movie? I hae a comic book adaption (it's in the basement) and If I'm correct it mentions 1593 and 1993. I know the film is from 1993.

They didn't really try to remaster the films again, hence the over-graininess.

Like me. I consider this movie we're discussing, Turtles 3 to be from an alternate reality. One where turtles is the worst franchise and the idea of a good film and production value is the opposite from ours.

There are props from the first three movies on a shelf in TMNT, Shreddars' Helmet, the Ooze can, the Time Septor. So TMNT is the sequel to the first three. Hindsight is 20/20 after someone makes/watches a movie. The directors see their flaws and they would like to go back change it or learn from it.

Ok... so Shredders helmet was only in Turtles 1? I'm pretty sure I've seen it in every Turtle-verse. Same with the ooze, every single comic/show of TMNT had an ooze canister. You can't base continuity on one fu*king prop.

No one acted the same as they did in the old movies, Splinters ear was intact, April was not a reporter, etc, etc. (These are facts, not fan-tribute props).

I'm not excluding this movie because I don't like it, I do like it... things just don't add up to have this thing as a sequel to the original three.

There's also a Mouser and a Tri-blaster on that shelf. It was just to show they had many journeys. If that Shredder helmet was supposed to be a nod to the previous films it would look like it did in the second film. It didn't though.
