Do you think it is better or worse than Rob Paulson doing the voice for the old Raph? Also this new Raph is really really hot-headed. In the older show the Raph used his cunning wit and sarcasm. Personally I am partial to the older Raph. It may just be me, but I don't like the new Raph's whole "New Yawrk" accent. It just sort of seems annoying. But then again it could just be me, I did watch Mighty Max a lot so I was used to that voice (FYI Rob Paulson did Mighty Max and Raph, and the voices sounded very similar. He also did Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, Yakko from Animaniacs, and other classic characters).

Yeah, The voice for original Raph[or atleast close] was first time used in the movie, and it suited the character perfectly. The new show voice is doing it the same way. And I like it.

I like the old Raph, but I don't hate the new one. Sure it doesn't really suit the turtle... but then again the old raph voice wouldn't suit the new one. I think they just need a new actor altogether but they proabbly already have most of the first season done already...

I always thought Rob made a great Raph, no matter how the character's personality was like. Remember the time he told Donatello to "shaddap" in that one ep? It sounded so cool!

As much as I liked Rob Paulsen... I voted for the new Raph.
True, he did sound like some old NYC cab driver at first, but now that accent is really growing on me. I also like the way he goes "Meh..."
But then, ther was the next mutation Raph... he seemed like the perfect blend of Paulsen and Movie/Foxbox VAs too.

New Raph is TEH BEST!

I believe that this voice fits the original Raph in the comics then the orginal voice for Raph in the original cartoon.

Both Raphaels were great but flawed. The new one needs some more wit about him, the old one needs some more rage. In my opinion if you mixed them both they'd be perfect.

The new Raph's voice, which is very similar to the Movie 1 Raph's voice, is 100x better than the original cartoon. I absolutely hated that wimpy, pip-sqeakish voice.

His voice in the first movie was the best

First movie Raph was the best. Josh Pais did a wonderful job. A little known fact is that Josh not only was the actor IN the suit, but also did the voice. When Raph flips over the cab, and the guy in the back asks "What the heck was that?" that's actually Josh Pais himself, and in reality, he's asking what himself is :).

I knew that, I could tell by the voice. Now didn't they have two seperate sets of actors doing the turtle, one for the upclose shots and talking. and another for the action scenes?

What's funny though is, Raph wasn't the only turtle in the movie who's body actor interacted with himself. The pizza delivery guy was actually Michelan Sisti who played Michaelangelo.

I loved Rob's voice for Raph, but that was for a different era. I dig Raph's new VA. I didn't like him in the first ep, but I believe the VA is getting used to playing Raph's part. He sounds much better in the newer eps.

I know what you mean Azure. In the first episode he was overdoing it but now he is doing it perfectly.

I didn't care for the new Raph's voice at all at first. Now, I think it's awesome. It fits the personality very well. As for Rob Paulsen, I still like the voice he provided for Raph for the old cartoon. Raph's alternate voice in 1989 was a different story, though. I don't remember Paulsen's replacement at the end of the old TMNT run, though.

I wish I had kept that three-parter they did in 1996 with the time travel stuff, because they did a great line with 2 Raphaels being in the same place.

Where's the "both Raph voices totally kick!" option?
Jephael

Either that or add the Next Mutation Raph as a third option.

no the new raph is perfect if they give him too much wit it lightens the character too much.
i voted for new raph. nothing against rob paulsen, but when they did the old shhow they reall changed raph's character, the new one is so much better

I must say that the old voice suited the old character. And this voice Is perfect for the new one.

New Raph, including voice, is one of the coolest cartoon characters I have ever seen. I love his voice, and the way he is Written.
It should be noted that I do love the old sarcastic raph too

I like new Raph, simply for the fact that he did what I wanted to do for a long time while watching the old cartoon, and that was going after Michealangelo (I will always spell it with an a) with a lead pipe. Gyah, I HATED Mikey's surfer dude voice, which is odd, cause I use it all the time... :tanime:

The thing we gotta remember is that these guys are just now starting to get out in the real world, being exposed to outsiders, and going thru puberty. So Raph's voice and attitude, along with everyone else's, should grow on you and get more mature. I think I just scarred myself for life. Mutant turtles going thru puberty..... :dead:

Not only that, but some of the name-calling and the tone of the voice when they call each other names. Reminded me of the movie.

True. The new Raph voice is perfect for the cartoon, but would never work in live action movie.

I'll have to try and find a short scene in the movie where I can take some of Raph's dialog and dub it in to a comparable scene in the new cartoon.
Stefano
04-03-2003, 06:53 PM
go do that. In thefirst two movies is it the same raph voice?

Well, the Raph in the first two movies (as well as the third) had a NY accent, but Josh Pais voiced him in the first, whereas Kenn Scott (credited as Kenn Troum) who played a Foot Soldier in the first movie, voiced him in the second.

A bit of trivia for y'all...Josh Pais is also in Phone Booth, opening this weekend. He plays a character named Mario. I'm not sure how big a part it is though, prolly not too big, but I'm gonna keep an eye out... Oh, and it takes place in NYC too...

Josh Pais is the classic New Yorker, complete with 'Tude and Accent! He also did quite a bit in Law & Order a few years back too.

heres my final say on raphs voice..if theyre doin a hot headed raph..he needs to have the deep new yorker voice..if theyre doin a sarcastic raph..he needs to have the voice from the first show
