I went with the surfer because when I first watched the OT, Mikey was my favorite for a short time. While in the NT, there is no way I could have favored him. But then, by the time I watched the NT, I was familiar with TMNT from the OT and the movies.

Laid-back surfer all the way!
Whoops, I voted wrong -- what's up with this annoys you the least question? Michaelangelo is totally the least annoying, but I wasn't paying attention and picked the Turtle Titan. :(

There is only one correct answer. This is not a matter of opinion, it's an IQ test.
And four people have already failed.
Mikey: most misunderstood turtle... ;)

um three have failed. Wes said he didn't mean to vote for ratilin kind Mike. ;)
I voted for "laid back surfer Michaelangelo" because he is indeed the potrayal of him a find the least irritating of the two.
Mostly because...well the description says it "laid back surfer Michaelangelo" is laid back. Ratilin kid Michaelangelo is aggitating and he agitates as a result.
Also I've noticed that any version of Michaelangelo that tries to be funny fail miserably at it. Surfer Michaelangelo is just a laid back party dude, he doesn't try to be funny and he's the better for it. Ratilin kid Mike tries to be some balls out comedian and...just comes across as annoying. I think there is a meassage in that. ;)

Well I guess I'm the black sheep. It was a hard choice, but I pick ritalin Mike because thats the way I see him in the original Mirage comics. Surfer Mike is good too, but a little too 80's and dated ( even though the 80's was the best decade IMO). Plus, I never understood how a New York Turtle could have such a strong Californian accent. To me Mike was always the hype man of the group. Leo was the the straight lace, Don was the Nerd, and Ralph was the thug.

Mikey annoyed the hell out of me in the 87 toon. He didn't do much better in the 2k3 toon either, but the one episode, The Christmas Aliens, was a nicely done Mikey centric episode, and helped me choose the least annoying. He was actually charming in that episode, IMO.

Well, then I am one of the people who voted "wrong", on purpose. The 80's Michaelangelo always annoyed me greatly, and I actually prefer the new toon Mikey.

I like both 87 Mike and 2k3 Mike, actually. It's the 2k7 Mike that gets on my nerves.

I also prefer the 80's version of Mike: he was a better fighter and he sometimes came up with a good plan, while in the 2K3 version he was mostly the idiot who messed things up.
Season 1 MichAelangelo was my preference. He seemed like too much of a dufus/stoner cliche past that season. But, now that I think about it, 4Kids' Mikey was significantly less irritating at the beginning of the series too. It's like Mike has nowhere to go but down when it comes to tv.

Umm, there was this indepedent B&W comic book called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that was created by two guys named Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird back in 1984. It became a major pop culture Icon, but I'm sure you've probably never heard of it, Cipher.

He doesn't act like he's rockin the chronic either.Exactly. He's just a calm, sensitive dude. Still, the old toon and movies play it a lot closer to that than the 2003/2007 material.

I half agree with u on that one, Cipher. In the first movie, I see Mike as the way he is portrayed in the original comics. In the second movie, he becomes a little bit more annoying and hyper and too slapsticky, which is more like the Mike in the 2k3 toon. Surfer Mike, to me, only exists in the OT and early issues of Archie Comics.

five of the many reasons surfer Michelangelo got my vote.
the fact that he isn't pushed as the "funny" guy by the creators and his character doesn't try to be a walking punchline in the show. The surfer persona seems less grating on the nerves.
though he has his moments of being unfocused or clueless about how his actions might annoy his brothers, he's over all alot more serious and reliable in battle situations.
He's potrayed as a genuanly "nice guy" who cares about others and has actual feelings for others with out it seeming to heavy handed or forced. 2k3 Mikey is nice sometimes but it bothered me that he seemed more interested in his own sense of enjoyment than others.
When terriable or serious things are happening with the turtles he doesn't just fall into the background and act like it doesn't affect him; he's just as involved as the other turtles. And actually shows other emotions other than perpeptual happiness or stoke.
When the show turned over into red sky and becaome more gritty and intense and the turtles got more serious, he did as well and matured with the rest of them. With the exclusive exception of "Havoc in the Streets".

Agreed. It's like they were trying to make him act like past seasons Mikey, and I hated how all of a sudden he acted that way, and how heavily the other guys bashed him for it. I noticed ever ep of Red Sky had a certain theme or whatnot discussed between the Turtles, like one had them so set on finding Shredder they forgot to do good for the sake of doing good, and another episode had heavy human VS mutants issues, but that particular ep's theme was 'Mikey isn't serious enough! Why can't he stop clowning around and act serious?"
It's like... hasn't he been serious in the last 4 or so episodes before that one???

Christmas Aliens is just about the only time 2k3 Mike was handled well as a character. Other than that, he just irritated the hell outta me. :x Even before the turn over to FF and BTTS.
Between the two, surfer Mike irritates me the least. But for me it's more of a lesser of two evils, since I just don't care for "Michelangelo" in general as character in the franchise.
But I have to honestly say, that looking back on the orginal cartoon series, Michelangelo isn't all that bad or nearly as "goofy" as I remember him being as a child. :ohwell: He actually seems almost as normal as the other turtles. And at least he's not the annoying "little brother" sterotype in the old series.

Oh, he still annoys me to no end. Christmas Aliens is the only Mikey centric episode in the 2k3 toon I like, the rest, forget it, I'm so bord with them, I never do finish them. I have yet to watch the Turtle Titan.
Old toon, he reminded me too much of a pot head. 1990's movie gave the most likable Mikey IMO.

I wonder if Mikey was NOT portrayed as the "little brother" in the OT and the first 3 movies because of the old statistics released where it stated that he was 15 1/2 while Donnie and Raph were 15. While those statistics were very preliminary and not canon or reliable at all, who knows if they somehow led to Mikey NOT being specifically portrayed as the youngest or the most immature.

It's retarded. They've all been sentient mutants for the same amount of time. And no piece of Turtles fiction has ever clearly established ages, outside of random ancilliary statistics.
You know how you distinguish the bad portrayals of Michelangelo from the good ones? The former go by Mikey, the latter go by Mike.

That's not neccesarily true. In the Archie comics, Michaelangelo went by both nicknames and he was a great character in that series.

people really need to stop saying about 80's Mike. He really doesn't across that way at all.
When I first got into the turtles I felt sorry of Mikey in the 4KIDS version. But really I can't say that I like how he is written. The fact that he's an egotistical jek alot of time doesn't make you very sympathtic toward him. I find 80's Mike to be alot more likable and relatable, even thoyugh I i tried hard no to like him when I started watching the 80's cartoon.
And Havoc in the Street was a disgrace to Michelangelo. i'm sorry to say. :x
