Hey everyone, I just got my eyebrow pierced twice on the right side this weekend. It's so cool. My bus rider friend really likes it a lot. I think it's awesome. What do you peope think about piercings other than your ear?

I'unno, not a big fan, especially ever since I was roughousing with my sister's boyfriend and accidentally ripped his eyebrow piercing out.
On girls I don't think anything other than ears and bellybutton piercings look good, and I think below the belt is just "dirty"... that's just me though. And guys can pierce whatever they want cuz I'm not looking at them. 8)

They are okay, but... I'm kinda of weary of doing it. Your eyebrow doesn't have the cartilidge that your ear and nose do and thus if it gets infected its going to go strait for your eye; same with a piercing in the belly button, if it got infected it could go right for your insides >.<;;
Don't get me wrong, I mean... I think look cool... on certain people

I have my ears pierced, but I hardly wearing earings.Ditto. I have some turtle earrings that I got for graduation, but I have to disenfect tham before I can start wearing them again -- they fell under the driver's side seat of my car. :dead:
I have two holes in each ear. One in the lobe, and another up in the cartilage. I had planned on getting my belly button pierced, but it's been postponed. But I'll probably get it sometime.
Personally, piercings are like any other piece of fashion, what looks good on one person might not work for another. For example, I wear glasses, and an eyebrow or nose ring would clash with the frames. My friend wanted to get her tongue pierced, but the piercist said her mouth was too small and there would be a high risk of gum damage, so she got her nipples pierced instead. *shudder*
So, personally, I have no problem with piercings. Tattoos are cool, too, got one of those. Hurts a lot more to get, but it's easier to take care of.

I don't really consider myself a big fan of piercings, I would never get any of that crap. On girls though, ears and belly buttons are the only things I want to see pierced; eyebrows and noses are big turnoffs for me.

I'm sort of desensitized. I work in a Spencer's, you see ;) In New York, with probably the biggest collection of Goth/Raver/Just plan scary sometimes customers I've ever seen.
So eyebrows, noses, belly buttons and probably even labrets all seem fairly tame to me. Even though I onl have four holes in my ears, and while I ahve plans for 'upgrading' to six in the near future.. the belly button would be the only thing I'd consider at this point.. And even then.. I don't like the idea that it's the one of the easiest places to get infected.. And how it looks when you're not wearing a belly ring.. And how it could get caught on things...
I'm too lazy and it's too inconvenient ;)
(BTW, FYI... None of Spencer's body jewelry is recommended for use in the genetalia or tongue.. And yep, that includes the tongue rings :P )

I saw this really cute baby turtle belly button ring at the mall awhile back. I wanted to buy it, I should have, but I didn't. Now the booth is gone. :(

Tattoos are cool depending. On girls it can be iffy depending on what and where.
I got two tats. A heart/snake/sword combination on my right arm and the Guns N Roses "Appetite For Destruction" cross on my left. It cost $400, hurt real bad and bled like a river.
And I never once regret I it. 8)

I can't see myself pierced, except for my left ear... but on girls... I HATE, DESPISE, LOATHE... :lol, you get the point. Anyway, a hate tongue rings, nose rings, it just doesn't work for me. *shudders* Ear rings are all I could see... a pierced belly, eh... I don't know.
But as I said, I'd only get one piercing, and that is in my left ear.

I would just like to let you people know that piercing your belly button is the worst hting you can do. I don't have it done, but those things get infected like mad crazy. The next worst thing would have to be your tounge. I don't have that either, but I hear that that's a very unhealthy place to get pierced too. I used to think piercings were the worst things in the world until I really thought about, you know? It's pretty cool for me though, because my face is somewhat crooked, and with the eyebrow rings and all it makes my face look more symetrical. So you know, I'm not really a crazy person because I did freak out about getting it right before hand, but it all happened so quick and it wasn't so bad. (Hey don't you other people worry I'm afraid of needles somewhat too.) :goofygri:

Same here....I actually only own one pair of earings, and my cousin gave me those  I got my ears pierced when I was like five so I really had no say in the buisness.....as for other piercings my mother said if I ever get a piercing in some other part she would rip it out *shudders* I just don't think I could manage the pain....
As for tattoos my mother said If I can afford it I could do it.....and I was seriously thinking of getting one on my ankel.....but somewhere along the line I guess I got destracted.......and again there is the pain......that and the thought of a needle coming near my skin makes me cry....(gosh I'm such a sissy :goofygri: ..eh?)

Awww... same here... I can't stand needles. Wait... I can stand the pain, but I can't stand watching it dig into my skin and suck out blood.
Like I've said, piercings and tattoos are like any other thing, it's not for everybody. I think that if you're even considering getting any type of body modification, you should research it throughly, including the place you're getting it done at. Make sure they're certified, use sterile, one-use tools, the whole nine yards. Don't be afraid to ask questions. And follow all cleaning instructions.
Kali: what is your tatoo of? Where and how big?
I have a smallish tattoo on the outside of my right ankle, about an inch and a half tall. It's an anhk (sp? I can never remember how to spell that. A T with a loop at the top, the Egyptian symbol for life and immortality; with a yin-yang up in the loop. Simple, universal symbols, won't go "out of style" or warp too much.

Not to go too off subject but has anyone ever had a spinal tap?
*shudders*
Luckily I was to sick to care at the time....but they stick like a 6 inch needle into you back to take spinal fluids for testing....but first of coarse they numb the spot, so you can actually only feel the needle popping in you back.....*cringes* Maybe thats why I hate needles so much even now.....

okay...
so.
FIRST. piercings rock.
jewelery... well... i'm all about it.
i've got three holes in each of my ears and i'm looking to get a nose ring on my nostril... not a septum (the middle part) piercing those just don't do it for me.
i've considered my eyebrow as a serious NEXT next step... heh.
SECONDLY
tattoos are the bomb.
i've got one the size of my hand on my lower back... took 5 hours and two sessions, but damn, do i love it.
Not to go too off subject but has anyone ever had a spinal tap?
I'm told I did when I was very young, but I don't remember. I DO however, remember the numerous blood draws, IV's and drainage tubes I've had stuck in me this week.
Still, I don't hate needles.

you know what?...
when i came home w/ my tattoo, my grandfather told me that i'd "Defaced God's Temple"...
now alll debates about higher powers aside...
i see it this way:
if i was adding/changing/removing things to my body out of a sense of SPITE... to flip people out, or to offend the world on both a spiritual and secular level... well, hell...
then yeah. that would be sucky of me and a waste of a perfectly normal body.
but you know what?
i do it cause i think it looks beautiful, because i think ornamentation and decoration of what your born with is not only your CHOICE, but if it makes you happy, it's your RIGHT!
so is god pissed? are the neighbors whisperring? will i feel bad if someone w/ less earrings than me gets the job we're BOTH interviewing for?...
i say that the higher power (if there is one or more) likes pretty stuff, as evidenced by the stuff he/she/it/they/the unfeeling and non-personified cosmos has generated... puppies, butterflies, sunsets, Ferraris, latex body suits, flowers, rainbows, and more compact engery efficient dishwashers...
are MY neighbors whispering?... uh... they've got more piercings and PROBLEMS than me. let'em.
the job market? ... if the employer judges us on our performances and whether we best fit the criteria for the position?... then HELL YEAH i'm gonna be bummed. but i'll get over it.
wouldn't you?
and i get to go home and look at my tattoo again anyways.

I'd never waste my money on Jewelry, piercings, or tatoos. I don't care if people get them, in fact I applaude the way they demand to stand out. That's right, stand out by following in everyone else's foot steps. It used to be back in the day you only got a tatoo or piercing other than your ear if you could kick anyone's ass. These days everybody has them. And I see no real perks in getting these things. As you age tatoos become wrinkled and ugly. A tatoo of a dolphin in time becomes a whale. And piercings leave holes in you. Good luck trying not to look like a low life at a job interview when it looks like your last job was a target in a shooting gallery.
My favorite however, is gauging. I feel like throwing poodles through the giant holes everybody has in their thinks are so cool anymore.

Ignoring Voltron's usual disagreement on topics.
I generally agree with Kya, though I think they look better on other people rather than me.
As of tattoos; the 'defacing gods temple' thing is really in the bible (my dad being some kind of religion buff showed it the passage to me once, cant remember for the life of me where it is now), it talks about how every one's body is their mortal temple to god.. He said that Tattoos were like tagging the side of a church or cathedral...
I still like them anyways... on other people. If I ever were to get one, it would be someplace not easily seen by people, like on my thigh or on my back or...
on the back of my neck 8) I wanted to get a Barcode for a long time.

03-22-2003, 11:13 PM
See, that's the thing i tried to explain to my grandfather, Jade... I KNOW it's in the Bible... but...
i dont' see it as a random tag... i think it's more equivalent to hanging up the little kid's sunday school Arts and Crafts projects in the church foyer. It's not DEFACEMENT of the body; it's meant to be an enhancement. It's not NEARLY on par with the stuff that "God" is responsible for... it's not NEARLY as complicated or FUNCTIONAL (like my EYES or my HANDS...) but it's put up with the genuine thought that it makes the temple/church prettier... and more PERSONAL...
This is what i did WITH the "temple" that "God" gave me, because i LIKE the "temple" ... not b/c i'm trying to mark it up or hurt it...
and Voltron?
that whole argument against getting Tattoos because they look gross on old people...? that just doesn't make SENSE. OLD PEOPLE just look GROSS. end of story. whether they have tattoos or NOT... if you're 80 years old, then PLEASE KEEP YOUR SHIRT ON!
so... since we're all gonna look like Moose Poop ANYWAYS, what does it matter if you had a fun childhood? so you've got a whale now instead of a dolphin? so what? you've also got cellulite bags, vericous veins, liver spots, and hair growing out of your ears.
i mean... there are PLENTY of perfectly good reasons not to get body art done. (just plain NOT WANTING ANY is perfectly fine.) but if the only thing stopping you is a fear of what it'll look like LATER? then dude... screw that... a tattoo isn't gonna make old age any WORSE than anything else.

actually, piercing and tattooing are hardly a "modern" innovation. And since techniques, equipment, hygiene practices, and medical treatment and procedures are VASTLY improved since the days of "numb it with ice and stab a needle through it"... well, i'd say that it's a whole lot more reasonable NOW than it used to be.
Here's a link to the University of Pennsylvania Museum... they STUDY this stuff and know WAY more "History of Piercing" than i do or ever will... but they show a number of statutes and artifacts that date back as far as 9th century B.C....
http://www.upenn.edu/museum/Exhibits/bodmodpierce.html
yeah. i'm SO glad that i live in an age where they sell PAINKILLERS in handy, easy-to-swallow caplets. i dont' think i could have done my piercings the "old-fashioned way."... let alone TAKING CARE of my piercings in a world where LEECHES are considered viable medical treatment.
I'm not a real big fan of piercing or tattoos. I would never get either myself and am not a fan of guys with any piercing but i do know some guys with their left ear pierced. But i don't even like that. And girls with a ton of piercing are a major turn off for me. I don't mind girls with pierced ears at all and i can live with a belly button but after that i just don't like it. But i know plenty of my friends who don't mind it at all and even some that think its attractive. Thats what makes life interesting people have different tastes. And as for tattoos, i just wouldn't ever permenately stain my skin. I mean what if your interests change and you no longer like it. Then your stuck with it unless you pay the big bucks for laser. I have a friend who did that and she said it wasn't the most pleasurable thing she's ever done. But thats just my opinion.

Hey I haven't talked to you people in a long time, but after a while I think that the peircing is nothing. I'm too used to it already. Oh yea, and don't call me stupid for getting a peircing. As a matter of fact the state of Michigan wanted me to go to college when I was in 7th grade. (As far as where I am now.....well that's my mom's fault.) Besides that I'm not a real big judger on appearance, and I never really was, the only reason why I got a peircing is because I am an artist and I am always decorating things, consiously and unconsiously. Anotherwards it was just for the heck of it.

No, I don't believe that anyone's opinion is wrong, because that is what they think. It's just that you said that peircings were retarted period, end of story. You said it as though it was a fact, and it isn't because it is your opinion. There is a large difference in a fact and a opinion. So much of a difference that they are considered to be opposites. So if you want to express your opinion correctly without upsetting others (not that you probably care about that [most people don't]) you should say that it is what you believe, not that it is what goes no matter what.

dye it; pierce it; scar it; ink it.
as long as you like it, it's all good. Sure there are people who are gonna disagree w/ you but when AREN'T there people who would rather shut you up and push you aside?
Tasuki, i hear you. As long as it makes YOU happier, and doesn't hurt anyone else, it CAN'T be as bad as all that.
There IS a reason for additional piercings and body art: it's called self-expression, personal happiness, and any individual's right.
Cause, when you come down to it, there's "no reason" for us to have so many different types of clothes or home decor or hair cuts or make up or candy bars or religions... UNLESS we ARE willing to conceed that we all dress as makes us happy, cut our hair to suit OURSELVES, eat the things that PLEASE us, and worship as WE SEE FIT.
Even though all we really "NEED" is a shirt and pants, a buzz cut, one type of nutritionally balanced meal, and a one-god-fits-all religion if any at all.
Sure, it's Zenrick, Tokka and Anyone else who wants to agree with them's opinion that body art/enhancements are not flattering at all. They are welcome to that.
but don't take it to heart, Tasuki, because it IS just an opinion. And even better, that opinion can't stop any of us from doing as we please with our own bodies and OUR own opinions!

I think it is important for everyone to have a different style, it makes us unique...only one religion would be awful, let alone the amount of people that don't even believe in religion....I hate it when people try and want everyone to be the same, it is like Hitler's nazism... :x
EDIT: Alright, I just saw the locked topic on religion, I thought we were handling it well with evidence but apparently not so. Anyway, since religion is not to be even spoken of, forget what I just said about religion...Yet a question still remains, are we able to talk about politics still? I have seen so many political debates locked as well, and was wondering if it is still allowed then why not religion, but if religion isn't supposed to be spoken about as they say, politics should be thrown out as well...
Well, the main reason that the Religion thread was locked was that it became a debate. it was supposed to be a discussion about different religions and beliefs, and it somehow turned to another "who is right" thing.

online debates are usually never won, there is no convincing people...The point of a debate is to learn from the opposite opinion, not to see "who is right" as you say it....

I find it really funny. The thing started as a joke between me and GK, and little by little people started making their own nWo sigs, others did knock-off versions... It's great! We really did "take over", and all we did was be ourselves!
I feel like Napoleon or something.

You know, that ain't a very nice thing to be saying either.
True, I thought TMNH's internet retard joke was a bit harsh, since I also know that many fans on this forum do have mental handicaps. I'm going to edit that post before it does create more offense.
But, for you to be attacking Leo's nWo club is not called for. I have seen many fans create little gimmicks. There was the clone gimmick amongst the fangirls, then the Welcome Mango gimmick. So the nWo is just the next new one.
So please, Tokka... apologize to Leo for threating that he should be dead. And, of course, I will be reporting this thread to Krang for further action.

That's it, Tokka, I'm giving you another warning. One more warning after this is a ban. I've told you many times before not to attack other members, so you've had plenty of time to improve on your behavior. Just because something does something that annoys you is no reason to say that you hope that person dies. This is your last chance, so if you can't learn to post here without attacking others, you're not welcome here.
