How many of you are still watching the old TMNT classic cartoon?

I pop in Season 1 or 2 once in awhile.

Not yet anyway.
Will give it a full rewatch once I'm done re-reading all the Vol 1 Mirage stuff.

I haven't been able to watch any in the past couple of weeks, but I will in a couple of days when I am done with all of my errands.

I've tried a few times over the past 2-3 years. Every time, I only get about 6 or 7 episodes into it before I just completely lose interest/get tired of the camp and the schdict. Generally right when the "Hahah! This cartoon was the sh*t back in the day! I remember this!"-type nostalgia wears off.

If I put in some TMNT cartoons for my friends, I'm pretty sure their reaction would go a little bit like, "Hahaha! No, seriously, what are we watching?"

I watch it every now and then. It was such a big part of my Childhood that I can feel my self from the past... how I watched the toon back in the early 90s and got all the toy around.
I loved to replay the episodes when I was younger with my actionfigures...
I never got any Toy of Krang - even though Krang was my favourit in the Show! So I had to build my own with LEGO or rip the Head of some other figures, paint them pink and just imagined that it was krang:D

I have more of the, "Alright! Kickass!" kind of friends when it comes to TMNT. If I were to bring up the comics or try to show one to a friend they're just like, "Yeah... Where's Bebop and Rocksteady?"

TMNT or not, I think most of my friends would be like, "Uhh... comics? You still read comics?" And multiply that sentiment several times over if I were to produce any TMNT cartoons to watch.

Though at least with the comics, I can do the move that's like, "Look, I know what you're thinking... but wait! The TMNT are badass in the comics... and I can prove it..." and then make them look at issues like Vol. 1 #10 and #21. With the cartoons I wouldn't have any ground to stand on.

I feel the same way about that. TMNT helps me relax and loosen up a bit.

I can recommend several stool softeners that may have the same effect.

This just in... most adults don't watch cartoons for little kids or read comic books.

Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with either (the contrary)... it's just pretty far from the norm. I certainly wouldn't blame either hypothetical reaction from my friends to me just randomly putting in some Turtles cartoons to watch or randomly handing them some comics to read.

Its part of my rotation of shows. I watch the OT, then the NT, Cowboy Bebop, Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Justice League/JLU, Samurai Champloo, Batman Beyond, The Simpsons...

Then I start over. This takes me over a year normally (since I have other things to do/watch), so when I get around Justice Leauge I have to watch a few Turtles episodes. I normally watch the bad ones so I can skip over them when I get back around to it.

No duh. But friends are supposed to accept each other for who they are, regardless of how weird they may be. Unless, they're you know, pedos or serial killers or something. Maybe give you a gentle ribbing about it ("You read comic books? Nerrrrrrrd!") but not give a crap on the whole.

As for my friends, I've had them come over and see TMNT on my DVD shelf and say "You've got Turtles? Why the f*** aren't we already watchin' 'em?"

I used to watch that show all the time, especially the Red Sky episodes. I guess the only time I really stopped watching it is when new episodes of the 2003 cartoon were being made. I think because I am a huge TMNT fan, the 2003 cartoon was the only show that could get my mind completely off the 1987 cartoon. In 2007, when the new episode showings began to slow down and with Fast Forward, I started watching the 1987 show again and I said to myself "I forgot how awesome this is". I stopped watching it for so long, that I felt like I was watching it for the first time all over again.

I own Seasons 1-8 on DVD and watch them several times.

I guess I rewatch the series once a year or so. Its a fun way to re-live your childhood, assuming you were around back then.

I got the first six seasons on Ebay really cheap last year..so earlier this year I watched through them. In all honesty, the first few seasons were fun to watch, probably a mix of quality and nostalgia. However, once I got into the CBS seasons, it became a chore to watch. Afterwards I kept only the first 3 seasons, which I'll probably pop in again one day.

If I put in some TMNT cartoons for my friends, I'm pretty sure their reaction would go a little bit like, "Hahaha! No, seriously, what are we watching?"

On the opposite end, my friends laughed off the suggestion of watching the new one in favor of the old. People love nostalgia.

I watch the 87 show still from time to time. I go in phases of watching various 80's cartoons and it makes the rounds.

Season 6 and Season 7 are actually both really good, by old toon standards.

The show gets slapstick during parts of Season 4 and 5, but by Season 6 its mostly action again.

Of course Seasons 8-10 are darker and have more action too.

This is me too. I've bought all the releases, I can watch the first three seasons and season 7 no problem, but after that I can only get through certain episodes. I get really sleepy during everything else.

Something like forty episodes and maybe five of them are worth their stuff. At least season five has all the mutant cameos running around.

Considering it's the only part of my childhood worth remembering, aside from game shows, and the only cartoon I was willing to go through the trouble of spending money on, it's safe to say I will never lose interest.

God. No, it isn't. Just because you spend your life watching kids shows doesn't mean everyone who doesn't is bent by peer pressure. I've agreed with everything you've said lately, but you've got to stop pushing that complete horse sh*t.

I still do, but haven't in awhile...MAINLY 'cause my DVD-player/recorder started acting kinda WONKY awhile back, and I've been afraid to put ANY of my DVDs (HOME-recorded ones INCLUDED!) in the thing!

When I get my new comp up and going, though, I'm likely to have a TMNT-watching marathon, curtesy of it's DVD-player and my nice new 19" wide-screen monitor. Which DEFINITELY beats my l'il 13" TV all hollow!;):D

I watch the old toon on a fairly regular basis. Unlike alot here I watch the OT for more than just nostalgia. Mostly to relax and just for pure enjoyment. I actually apprciate some of the humor better now as an adult than even when I was younger. Actually, I think I get way more amusement out of it than I think is proper for gal my age. heh!

I love popping in the DVDs every now and then to watch an episode. Normally I keep them at my parents' house where I keep my comics and toys but I decided to take the DVDs to my apartment where I plan to watch them on my computer over the next couple months. One of the reasons I am doing this is I'm in the middle of recreating my TMNT themed desktop, and I want to make some new WAV file clips of the show.

I'm still in the process of watching it through the DVD releases. With the full season 7 set out now, I'll hopefully be able to soon move forward in the series (ever since I got to the CBS episodes, I've actually been watching them Saturday mornings to recreate the right atmosphere).

I have been considering doing another weeknight run like I did in early 2007 with the first 80 episodes, but I guess I just haven't found the time to do it yet (and I haven't decided if I should start from episode 1 again or do a run picking up from where I left off 2 1/2 years ago).

being in the UK, we only have seasons 1 & 2 released from the original toon so far. I picked 'em up the other day and watched the first coupla discs with my two year old niece, who seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.

I was quite surprised on how many episodes I actually remembered from my childhood. I really dug them, every bit as fun as I recalled, and they have some really special moments.

Kennedy enjoyed them too.

If you ask her what the sheep says? "Baaa"

What the cow says? "Moo"

What the cat says? "Meow"

What the turtle says? "Towabunda!"

And if you ask her what turtles' eat? I asked this very evening, whole-heartedly expecting (after around 10 episodes in a row the other day) the answer to be "Pizza!", she replied with: "Poops on toast."

I've watched all the old tmnt cartoons & own them all on dvd. As much as I love all the characters I can't say I'm too crazy about the old show though I do appreciate the humor more now than when I originally saw it as a kid on tv. The 2003-2009 series is alot more impressive. From the old show, the original pilot was great & while it was vastly different to the mirage studios stuff it was still done pretty well. After it became a regular syndicated show it became more of a comedy w/ some action.
