Is it me or the turtles, espcially Raphael alot more jerkish in this season?
You have the turtles splitting up breifly over an argument.
They where mostly on each others cases and fighting and blaming each other (a few times questioning leo's leadership a few times).
You have the turtles bashing the hell out of Mikey in one epsiode (which came out of left feild)
And then you have Raph making snide remarks to Leo and challenging him to fight? :o:o:o

Season eight marks an intentional shift in the show's style and direction. They were competing for viewers against the likes of Batman and X-Men. Did you not notice how hard it's trying to be edgy?

Tried and failed. I mean after seasons of silliness, the Turtles still acted as if they were trying to sound like tough guys. Bebop and Rocksteady were only in 2 eps I believe and they still didn't act as threatening as they did in season 1. The only thing was the Turtles thinking April and Irma died in the Channel 6 Buidling. But other than the lack of pizza and cowabunga stuff, the Turtles still cracked lame puns and tried too hard to be serious and dark, while still lookin goofy.

Not too mention they always had a strangely serious look on their faces whether they were being serious or cracking a joke. It looked rather odd.
That season was all kinds of messed up.

It was also the first time the Turtles were so determined to find and stop Shredder once and for all, instead of just sitting around and eating pizza waiting until the next time Shredder revealed an evil plot.

these are all things that I liked about season 8. It may have been jolting to some viewers to see them suddenly acting tougher and more...well bitter...and maybe a bit snappish with each other, but I think that in terms of progression, that the turtles would eventually toughen up and come to odds with each other.
I thought it was interesting that the turtles finally had something they didn't all see eye to eye on and openly disagree. Actually this has actually happened before even in the "sillier" times of the show. Only difference is the turtles where a bit more aggressive about it. I don't think season eight failed miserably at being more edgy with the turtles.
But I agree about the Mike bashing in that one episode. T_T

A bit of a copout though. Leo and Raph should have at least a 2-second weapon clash or a shove match, or something.

In HAVOC in the Streets, the turtles kept saying Michaelangelo always goofs off and never takes things seriously. I'd consider that a plot hole, Michaelangelo always seems to take things seriously in previous episodes.
Raphael did seem to get more and more serious and have an attitude through Season 8 and 9, especially Season 9, he was so kranky thoughout that season he reminds me of 2k3 Raphael. But in Season 10 with his new voice actor, it seems like he was trying to be funny again and hardly ever gets angry.

In as much as I've heard that Paulsen formally resigned from the series, perhaps that was a reflection of him getting tired of whatever BS went on behind-the-scenes.
