I have a question. Why is the website called miragelicensing.com? Are they licensing something?

I wonder who runs the website after Dec. 31.

Dan's still working at Mirage beyond December 31st... but as a contractor, not an employee.

Until May, anyway.

The ninjaturtles.com website should be in the hands of Viacom in roughly 3 weeks time (if not sooner).

Any idea if they're going to delete everything on the site? I sure hope those guys saved all the stuff Dan posted there over the last 12 years.

Dan reckons it's likely, so I would go and get what you can while you can.

High probability the site will be torched, used then to redirect to a page somewhere on Nickelodeon where there will be TMNT with big, shiny cartoony eyes staring at you.

I have been working on archiving everything... I took a few days off from working on the project but it looks like I better kick it into high gear... I will have a link to share the archived site but I will not re-host the site, just share the data...

Uhm, I just bought a few things from the new site... Figured that I might just as well

And in my receipt mail it said "Payment sent to [email protected]"

I'm guessing it won't be a problem, but it still made me a little worried... You know, if that mail address actually still exists?

I take it this new website won't really have much of a purpose after May of next year. Aside from selling back-issues that have limited print runs, there won't be anything in production after Tales #70.

Still, someone needs to run it and ship any orders that come in. Especially if Peter ever gets around to releasing a book. I'm a bit curious how that's going to work into the extended future. Peter can't expect Dan, or anyone else, frankly, to stick around and keep it going indefinitely on a contract basis. Eventually everyone's gonna to move on beyond the Turtles.

Only the domain name NinjaTurtles.com will be transferred to Viacom (the server hosting the files is owned by Mirage and is still being used to host the new site), so Viacom won't actually be deleting any content, it's just not likely that they will take the time to copy it all over to their servers.

NinjaTurtles.com email addresses will continue to work fine until the transfer occurs.

Dan Berger just posted his final update at ninjaturtles.com. He says the site will be taken over by Nick next week.

Reading that last update by Dan truly brought a tear to my eye. I've been visiting ninjaturtles.com since 1997!

Yeah, I felt a certain sense of melancholy reading that, too. I've been visiting since 1996 and it's been my browser home page since I bought my first computer in February 1997. Ah well, all good things...

Some good news:

I got word from Dan today that the comic synopses will for sure be transferred to the new site, and that if time permits, he'll upload the vol 1 comics for reading again.

Dude you don't have to read TMNT online from NinjaTurtles.com, just download them as torrents, I reccomend using Vuze! You can also read Archie=God

Heh, I remember back in 1997 they had a page about Next Mutation and those Dino-Turtles from Playmates, given that was what was happening at the time.

There was also hardly any info at all about the comics on the site at the time, no toy archive and no episode list for the cartoon.

Okay, gang, here it is, STRAIGHT from the horse's (Turtles'? Heh) mouth, so to speak. Dan's LAST Upate over at the Official TMNT website:

"Friday, November 6

"Well - here we are. This, in all likelihood, will be the final update from Mirage via this domain name as it looks like Nickelodeon will be taking over next week. With that in mind, I've posted the skeleton of the new Mirage Group web site over at http://www.miragelicensing.com - so if you wanna keep track of what we're up to (we're still publishing TMNT comics at least until May, 2010) - please check it out and set those bookmarks.

There's some totally awesome news regarding the animated "Turtles Forever" film - check it out here http://www.4kids.tv/buzz/view/catch-the-world-premier-of-the-turtles-forever)!

We had to cancel the "Mirage Universe" book due to stipulations in the buyout deal, so John over at PanelToPAnel.net is now offering the bookplate from that project (done by yours truly) along with the full color reprint of Eastman and Laird's TMNT #1 that's shipping later this month. You can order it here (http://paneltopanel.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=844&osCsid=83412a7ea92ce64c201dd7ec28031d32).

The latest press release regarding the future of the TMNT toy line:

PLAYMATES CONTINUES AS TMNT TOY MASTER

Playmates Toys will continue as global master toy licensee for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles under the property’s new controller, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, the toymaker said today. The long-term partnership allows Playmates Toys to continue its 20-year history with the Turtles brand. The alliance also lets Playmates “execute on its strategy to maximize global toy rights in partnership with renowned brands that leverage entertainment across multiple-media platforms worldwide,” the company said. "We are very excited about our new partnership with Nickelodeon, which broadens the scope of creative inspiration for Playmates," said Lou Novak, President, Playmates Toys. “We are proud to continue our long-standing commitment of making innovative, fun toys based on the beloved Turtles that have entertained generations of kids around the world."

Nickelodeon purchased the merchandising rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles earlier this month from licensor 4Kids Entertainment.

Teenage Wasteland recently conducted an interview with "Tales of the TMNT" writer Tristan Jones - WARNING - foul language is present - you can check it out here http://teenagewastelandpodcast.blogspot.com/2009/10/episode-48-creator-you-should-know.html).

And that appears to be a wrap. If you want to stay in contact with us, it's probably a good idea to start writing to the e-mail listed over at miragelicensing.com as I don't know exactly when our ninjaturtles.com addresses will disappear. Thanks again for the years of support - it's been a dream. See you over at miragelicensing.com

Cheers!
Dan Berger"

And there you have it. Nick will be taking over the ninjaturtles.com domain as of sometime next week. I guess it remains to be seen WHAT (if ANYTHING) that they'll DO with it.

woah anyone else look at MirageLicensing.com today? It's all kinds of crazy, they must be having some problems. They also apparently tried to hotlink an image from Ninjaturtles.com as their background since their whole background is a tile of warnings saying you can't hotlink from the NT site.

ninjaturtles.com is still there, I wonder if Nick intends to take over the site at all now. Won't they just make a TMNT page over at the official Nick site or something, similar to the way there is a 4kids TMNT site?

Yes. However, they will still probably want to take over the URL and have it point to said page.

I'm the same way. I'm able to fill in a lot of things I was missing. So the comic book collection is happy, but my bank account isn't.
