Note: I posted this on the general forums because your first item could be a dvd, a video game, a toy, or a comic.
What was your 1st TMNT item?
Mine was the 1990 1st live action dvd.
Edit: Sorry, if your first item was a VHS, you can vote for TMNT DVD.

My brother had the Ninja Turtles toys back in the OT era. But the first TMNT goodie that I bought for myself was probably a comic book. Either that, or the 2k3 DVDs. I am not completely sure.

The OT Mikey figure, for my birthday I think. That was great, I still have it. I remember I painted pupils on his eyes to make him look like in the cartoons. That's probably the only custom I've made in my life, and it didn't come out very well!

Man,posts like this make me feel like an old timer. I believe my first TMNT ANYTHING was an issue of the Mirage Comic...I think Issue..7 or 13...it was the one where Splinter switched bodies with the old man who wanted the TMNT to get his grandson to accept his ninja legacy. I was instantly hooked and tracked down as many back issues as I could. I remember seeing an ad in one of the Mirage comics for the upcoming toys and waiting on those to be released...my grandpa bought me the whole set when we found them at Toys R Us.

I voted as the "Everything Else" option. Ha ha, I can't believe I really did it, but I bought a full size TMNT (2007) poster with frame. Cost about $50 for everything, but it still makes me smile every time I look at it...

My first TMNT item was a video tape my grandma recorded for me and my brothers that had a bunch of episodes of the OT on it and the 2nd movie.
My second item was the first NES game that my dad brought home.

I voted for TMNT DVD, but it was a videotape back in 1991. It was long before DVD (only videotapes and laserdiscs were around).

As far as I can remember, a comic was the first thing I had. It was the Archie's Adventures mini-series and I had the whole comics in the 4 part series with a cassette (yeah you heard me a cassette ) that followed along with the comic. It was pretty cool.

I think mine was the Metalhead figure. Either that or one of those BK VHS tapes that had back in the day. I'm not sure, that might've been later.

My first TMNT item was an action figure. The first one I remember is storage shell Raph (there could have been others before that figure, but I think Raph was first).

I agree this was a long time ago, but I seem to remember one birthday when I got a bunch of the 80s toys and some bedspread or something... I remember thinking the bedspread was stupid and wasn't something you could play with...

Dude mine to! I lost my copy though. It was all messed up anyways but it had everything in there even the games. The pictures of the old toys in there made me yearn for them even more. I wanted Rat King and Wingnut so bad when I was a kid.

Yeah, I always wanted a bunch of those toys as a kid. I did have a bunch, but not all of the mutants.
But the thing I miss the most is my Jim Lee Raph. I had that figure in 1995 or 96' and I held onto it way in around 2003 or 2004- way past my collecting days as a teen at the time being (which was during a depression stage when I tried to do other things besides be into 'geeky' thing due to guilt but thankfully it didn't work because I got back into comics in 2007 and I had dreams about buying toys after that and low and behold- I started getting random collectibles again) but yeah, I loved that figure and it got lost when they were remodeling my parents apartment in 2003 or 2004.

Aahh.. Remember my first figure, was the "Mutagen Man", along with Splinter. Later on, my first vehicle was the Mutant Drill Module. Gee, good memories with totally worn-out TMNT catalogs.. and pictures of vehicles and figures on the wall beside my bed.

I got all four turtles, Splinter, a foot ninja, Shredder, Krand, the Turtle van, Blimp and sewer play set all on my seventh Christmas. It was freaking awesome.

12-02-2009, 11:42 AM
The first item I can remember getting was a Leo the Sewer Samurai action figure from a Hills department store.
I also remember my sister buying me Storage Shell Don from the Kay-Bee toy's in the local mall.
Since those were both '90, one of them has to be the first, I would have been about a year old.

Yeah. The old toon ended the year I was born. Most of my memories when I was 6 and up dealt with the 2k3 show. I did have some used VHS tapes of the OT and the 1988 Rapheal when it was reissued in the 90s

It was an original soft head Michelangelo in 1987 o4 '88. I got it for Christmas at our school Christmas party. Our parents were supposed to buy as a present and "Santa" was going to deliver them at school.
It just so happened that the only Turtle figure my mother could find was my favorite character. From there, I built quite a collection.

I voted toy but was wrong....
I bought comics at a flea market from a guy that had all the indie titles.
My comic shop didn't carry them amd I thought they were far better than the big league books. Anyway this was 86/87 and the guy told me to check out the turtles and the jimbo books. I thought it was funny that they were ninjas and turtles :).
A year or so later I was at Hills and low and behold someone had made toys out of that cool comic. I bought Leo and my little brother a Don. I told him he would thank me later, which he did, he was a huge collector of the line from the get go.

I vaguely remember it being either the soft head Michelangelo, or the Shredder from the first wave of TMNT toys under Playmates. For some reason, I remember getting Krang much more vividly. I must have been 7 years old at the time, since I turned 8 in Dec of '89, and the movie came out in March of 1990 (if I am not mistaken), but by that time I had plenty of TMNT toys.

While technically my first brush with the turtles was my parents renting the first FHE VHS tape "Heroes in a Half-Shell". My first owned piece of the Turtles would have to be a toy.
1988 Soft-head edition Michelangelo. I wanted that one cause I was curious how the toy would do the nunchukus. (I guess I expected metal chains in between the hilts or something). My sister that same day got Donatello (Also 1988 Soft-head edition).

My first figure was also this little guy. I still have him to this day. And he still works. They don't make them like they used to! :)

I still have a turtles pillow case from my beadspread as a child. It's the only thing I have left from those years.
So do I, but now it's wrapped up in plastic since a twin set will not, in no way in hell, fit on queen bed.
My first TMNT item was 80's toon Raph. I eventually got the rest of them, and also the first movie incarnations (which are excellent replicas of the Turtles) Other items I got besides the movies and shows, a beach towel, several shirts and an old plush Raphael in a Santa Suit. No joke. He's still propped up on my bed to this day, right next to my plush Starlight.
