I'm the reason some of you couldn't get the Collected Book from Mirage. :teek:
At the bottom of the box I received from Mirage today was the last CBVO:

Yeah, it's not the hardcover but I don't care; just having the book means a lot to me. :tgrin: If there was only a way to reseal it after opening the wrap. :tconfuse:
And another little treasure I'm excited to have:

Back when everyone was getting a Peter or Jim sketch, which are always awesome, I knew I wanted a Talbot! His eerily haunting artwork is wicked beyond belief, and I've always wished a few entire issues had been pencilled by him. But the fact that he took the time out of his day to draw this kickass sketch will always be a special little token of how cool the Mirage guys were.

I will track you down, hoss.
But on a serious note, I have a feeling I may be able to find some iteration of the book over at Titan Comics, although knowing the guy behind the counter, he'll charge me an arm and a leg, and then dismiss my purchase like he always does. Eff that guy.

If you just received that today, when did you order it? I thought they've been sold out of it for months.
I actually just found the original "Collected Book" V1 (with the A.C. Farley cover) on Comic Collector Live for something like 15 bucks. They day that showed up in the mail, I felt like I'd hit the lotto. Now I can retire my original issues from their always-dependable service.

I felt the same way about Shell Shock when I won it a couple years back! It may not be super-rare, but it's a book I had wanted for a while and I got a mint copy for a great price.

Ah, yes. My "Shell Shock" is a little used, but I spent countless nights poring over that thing before bedtime. I even tracked down the original color versions of "The Road Trip" and "D'ants Fever" after reading them there.
And I agree; Talbot should get more love. In your wish for entire issues by him, you're not forgetting about Vol. 1 # 17, are you?

If "that guy" at Titan Comics has a copy, I assure you he won't charge you a penny over cover price. In fact, if I'm not mistaken he's got a sale going on right now on trades, so you might get lucky.
On a side note, how often do you go to Titan? It's always good to know another TMNT fan in the DFW area.

Don't particularly hate you to be honest. I got mine from panel to panel - its got a rather nice bookplate. The owner of my LCS ordered me one up too, so i'm sitting on two copies of the collected book. Aint decided if i'm gonna sell my spare or what yet...
As for the Talbot sketch, I was sad enough to order up a Talbot, Lawson and Berger sketch :D

Every once in a while - maybe once a month, if I can manage it. I'm closer to Mockingbird and Keith's Comics, but Titan is just so large and awe-inspiring that sometimes you just have to "go the distance." I was actually planning to go down there tomorrow, coincidentally, to see if he had a copy, or at least a good crop of select back issues for a reasonable price.
A sale, you say? What's all this, then?

Yeah I was just messing around with the title really, since there was a semming fervor after the sale to snap them up. Anyway, those bookplates are nice, but I've never ordered through Panel to Panel for some reason; I just always preferred to call Ms. Katie and order from her.

Oh wow, would you take a picture of your sketch? I actually spent a loong time choosing who I wanted a sketch from, which is one reason I missed the initial call earlier last year. I figured since I already had a couple of Pete's I would get one from the other guys. And as much as Jim's grown on me over the years, I wanted something that was a little "off the path" than other books. So that left Dan, Eric, and Dooney. I wasn't sure if Dooney would be a viable option, and I've always loved Dan's artwork, but there's just something about Eric's that I really like too, so I asked for one by him.

I do know about that issue, but I don't have it yet. I meant I wish there was more issues from him. :D He has a style that could be pretty epic and visceral.

I know what you mean about Talbot, I absolutely love his take on the turtles, especially nowadays. His style is pretty unique!
Well here goes:
