I was just sitting here about to pop in a tmnt dvd and was wondering what does the turtles mean to you? What makes them so fascinating? I know for me they just bring me to happy times when i was a kid and everything like that. Whenever i'm down they always pick me up, just wondering if people feel the same way or is it just me.

Screw it man, if u wanna bring up old thread then do it... if people already seen it then they can skip it....i see a LOT of very stupid threads, but i don;t say anything I just skip man... LOL. now my answer to that question...
It started out as the colors...I thought the different bandanna's and skin tones looked really cool, then i stated getting into it more(the show, video games, toys etc) i was only 6 or 7 so i did'nt read the comic (or even know about it) :D
What I find fascinating is the personalities of the Turtles. It just makes them seem more human rather than turtles.

i dont know if i have a simple answer to this question. i grew up as an 80's kid and watched pretty much all the toons of that time as well as having most of the toys as well. but something was different with the turtles. out of all the series they were always #1 and the series that i was more obsessed with. i guess for me the TMNT as a whole is my childhood.

I think it's the overwhelming versatility of the series. It can pick up any tone or genre and run with it.
Sometimes its cornball humor and marketing. Sometimes it's one of the most surreal and downbeat comics on the market. Sometimes it's sci-fi, sometimes it's comedy, sometimes it's crime drama.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
What draws me to the comics (which have become by far my favorite version, and the reason for most of my interest in the franchise) is how they can be totally bizarre and still feel real. Yes, it's about aliens and mutants and ninjas, but at the end of the day, it's a series about characters who go on crazy adventures, grow up, drift apart, and grow old. There aren't a whole lot of genre series that are willing to do that.

TMNT is a franchise that you can do practically anything with. Just look at all the different stories and crazy adventures they've gone on over the years.
You can do literally anything with them.
I just think they're simply cool. Sometimes, it doesn't get as meaningful as that.

I dunno... It's just my thing. The way my life played out, I was pretty much destined to be a TMNT nut lol
