I was looking through some old comics of mine (because I want to sell them off) and found the first issue to the TMNT Adventures. Only thing was, that this wasn't published by Archie but VideoMedia. Now the book itself is the same as the Archie book, minus the advertisements, but it has a different cover. I remember it also came with a cassette tape. I think the comic print and paper quality is better in this book, but I don't have the original Archie run to compare it with. Here are some pics.

There's the front and back of the book.

There reads "Bug man" on the wall in the cover. That suggests the cover was drawn by Michael Dooney.

Yeah, that issue was exclusive for a comic & cassette combo. The cassette was a narration of the comic and had a funky little song at the end of it (REALLY funky song .. I'm tempted to start quoting it, but will save you from that).

I don't think mine says #1 of 3 .. but there were three of these cassette/comic combos eventually, so it might have said that on later editions. #2 was The Return of the Shredder and #3 was the Intergalactic Wrestling. Sadly, neither of these two had a funky little song at the end of the cassette.

And yeah, Michael Dooney definately did the artwork.

That's weird, my #3 said Battle with Dimension X with the Archie cover of issue three.

I have that, it's the collected version of the Archie mini-series, which they based off the first 5 eps of the original toon. Only the copy I got is alittle worn.

That could be. It's been a long while since I've dug those out.

I used to have the book and tape of "Return of the Shredder", and when I bought TMNT Adventures #1+#2, I was able to recognize the pages. Only from what I recall, the audio tapes didn't use the actors from the cartoon itself to do their voices, which I found incredibly odd at the time.
