it occurred to me that there are A LOT of new folk on the board that weren't here when I first showed up.
Now I don't know about y'all, but when I first got to the drome, i was HUNGERING for some good fanfiction-- no not just "good," i'd found PLENTY of "good" fanfiction on my own.... I was looking for the stories that people remembered and talked about for MONTHES after they were posted. The ones that you hear about in awed whispers...
"hey, i don't know WHO wrote it, but there's this INCREDIBLE story where the turtles... YOU GOT TO READ IT!!"
And you know what? I turned to the people who'd been here on the board for way longer than i had, and thanks to them, i found fanfictions that put professional script-writers to shame.
The sad thing is, that most FanFiction gets a big "HOOPLA" when it first comes out... then the publicity dies off and a month later, all the newbies MISS OUT on it, because "Everybody" already KNOWS about that story.
so that's what this thread's for. the OLD-SCHOOL, long-posted, best damn fanfiction you Grey-Whiskered Drome users can recommend...
Azure, Kali, HorseTechie, Machias, GreenWillow, SkeletonCrew, and all the rest of y'all who've been bangin' around this forum since reptiles walked upright the FIRST time... TELL US!
What are GOLDEN OLDIES of TMNT fan fiction?
i'm gonna kick it off, pimping the "KIARA" trilogy by Sss979 (and any of her other works!) you can find all her stuff here:
http://www.angelfire.com/ok5/tmnt/index.html
but yeah, new stuff gets PLENTY of advertisment. tell me an OLD story, sensei. make it a GOOD ONE.

I dunno, I for one am not a fan of stories that have romance in them... esp with a female and Raphael.

Gosh... back in the day when I had time to read and archive fanfics... I found that I craved the stories that were original, and where not like "one day a girl was walking down a dark alley way, gets attacked by muggers, some TMNT save her, then she falls in love with them, and they get it on and live happily ever after". Well, except for the ones GreenWillow writes that go like that. Why.. I dunno. She writes like a pro writer wannbe? :P
Overall, I like fics that are focused on action/adventure, inner turmoil/spiritual struggle, angst, or have a good punch of humor. The romance and drama ones... well those depend on the author's nature, the plot and characters used, and how well it's written. Sometimes I don't like all of those as much.
In the meanwhile, I'll assume this space to plug ficcies. Here's mine, just oozing with aged action/adventureness, very little romance, and lots of geekiness. You'll also find many other AWESOME authors I host as well here....

Aha! Yes, I remember the Kiara trilogy now. I remember really liking her writing style, but the human/turtle stuff kinda made my brain hurt. I just couldn't get it to work, y'know?
I'd also like to reccomend Vespera Blaze (http://www.angelfire.com/al4/vespera_blaze/page5.html) for writing. She has a nice clean style that's very easy to read, but not too simplistic or sparse. I believe she also won a Fan Fiction Award or two. :)

Hey Kya, I think you should have separated Romance/Naughty stuff...I like naughty stuff, but not cheesy romances. So I voted for humor.
I of course, highly recommend GreenWillow's "Lia" stories, though the ending frustrated me. I was also reading Dawnatello's "Nezumi", but I'm pretty sure she still hasn't finished it!
Kyabetsu's twisted fairy tales are excellent if you're in need of a good laugh. :D But you alread knew that Kya!

Wow!
Thanks Persephohi! You just succeeded in making my WEEK. Warm fuzzy puppy and rainbow feelings abound!
As for my recommended reading, Kali picked one of my favorites with Sue Stitlers True Forces
Lets see... the others that rocked my world were
AJ's Something Wicked http://www.angelfire.com/va2/tmnt/wicked.html
Phistar's Apocrypha http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Coffeehouse/1369/apocrypha/
HorseTurtles Hi No De http://www.turtlequest.com/fanfic/TMET.html
Those are all fairly long stories, which are the ones I like the best, althought the shorts that I liked are beyond counting....

Oh yeah.. True Forces! Loved that fic.... lots of action, humor, inner turmoil, Tatsu, torpedoes, and another Raph n Megan romance thing on the side.
*then winks to Vespera* Why.. thankyou. I also liked your fics a whole bunch also. :D
I also relish the stuff that Ria-angelo and Kim "Leo" Garvin have written too... http://www.geocities.com/aria1210/fanfics.html Kim's "Dark Journeys" was the very first TMNT fanfic I encountered way back in 1997.
*cringes at the mention of Apocrypha* Poor Donny... Poooor...poor Donny...! :tcouch:

yaaaaaay! okay. so... just cause i firmly believe that people are inherently lazy and won't go LOOKING for the stories on their own, here's the LINKS to some of the fic's that have been mentioned but not given addresses:
Machias Banshee recommends:
the many works of "Splinter"... here's her MAIN author page on fanfiction.net: http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=9053
You'll be able to get to anything she's written from there. ("Lifelines" is a personal favorite of mine, but it's all good.)
SkeletonCrew thinks you should read:
Greenwillow's "Lia" ... http://www.behindthemasks.com/greenwillow/fanfic.htm
Dawnatello's "Nezumi" ... I CAN"T FIND A URL FOR... she's shut down her website... can anybody find it? i googled it and everything... even the tmnt fanfiction archive links back to her old page--which isn't there anymore.
kyabetsu's (hey, that's me!--thank you, Sc!) 3 SHORT fairytale works...
"Snow White"...http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=947415
"Raphael and the Firebird" ... http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=958030
"Sleeping Beauty"... http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=964977
Kali mentioned:
Greenwillow. who's link you've got under SC's recommendations.
Phistar... who's link is in Vespera's post.
and Brinatello ... http://brinatello.splunkyard.com/fanfiction.html
okay... those are all the missing links. heh. NOW YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES! go read something GREAT tonight!
and yeah, i'm aware that romance and naughty are really two different things... but if there's folk out there who like the whole "turtles interact w/ women" genre, that's why i left them together, rather than make you choose whether you were a smut reader or just someone who reads it for the kissing scenes. heh.
