I am thinking about getting the first TMNT movie on dvd, but I was wondering since that dvd does not have any special features like deleted scenes, is there any news that there would be a special edition dvd coming out with special features like deleted scenes, commentary, etc.

thanks.

It's possible, but not likely. The studios would need to belive the could make some real profit off the movie to produce a soecial edition. We can always hope.

I think that with the gaining popularity, and attempt to mainstream the product, there is a higher chance now more than ever. The first two movies were overwhelmingly popular, and many people still love them today. Perhaps even a release of the first two, or even possibly the trilogy, jam packed with special features, could be possible.

Given sometime, and rise in popularity It could happen, but I wouldnt wait for it...

i hope they do decide to make a special edition dvd quickly since the new TMNT cartoon seems to be a big hit with kids. Every store I go to, there are no more new TMNT figures on the pegs, until they bring out a new box. I sometimes even see and hear parents and their children looking for the figures when I'm at Toy's R Us, Target, or Wal-mart.

But the only tmnt movie dvd I want is the first one, I liked the second movie when it came out, but after watching it as I got older, I realized the first when was way better and I hated that pizza delivery guy in part two, he was just annoying. He pissed me off at the end when he thought he could take on the Shredder. And I would have liked to see Casey Jones in the second movie.

I really want to get the first one on dvd, but I am just afraid if I get it there will be an annoucement on a special edition tmnt dvd coming soon.

It happened to me when I bought the first X-Men movie dvd and then last month X-Men 1.5 was released on dvd with more special features. Samething with Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, I bought that when it first came out and now they released an Uncut version of it.

But when Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings came out on dvd and during that same time there was news that a special edition would come out a few months after so I waited for the special edition one instead.

So it wasn't until months after I bought the X-Men and Batman Beyond: ROTJ dvd that I heard a new special edition dvd would come out. I hate when that happens, but I never went back to buy the new ones since I don't want two copies of the same movies.

I'm still deciding on whether or not to buy the TMNT movie dvd.

I don't think the new cartoon is that popular. It would be nice to have a special edition of the movie but I just don't see it happen.

We all would have rather seen Casey than that idiot Keno

I wouldn't wait for one. Who's to say that they aren't making one right now? I don't know but i'd think there would be word out there somewhere and there's not. So i say i you want go buy it now because i don't see a special edition coming very soon but man i would love to eat my words.

I bought the X-men movie on dvd but i'll probably get 1.5 just because some idiot scratched mine and now it sticks at a scene. :(

But when Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings came out on dvd and during that same time there was news that a special edition would come out a few months after so I waited for the special edition one instead.
LOTR: The Fellowship of the Rings rocked. I got both just because i like having the theatrical version and the extended. Sometimes its nice just to watch it without the extra scenes.

I'm still deciding on whether or not to buy the TMNT movie dvd.
I've already got mine and i suggest you do the same.

Thats not correct, the second and third movie combined didn't make as much money as the first. The second one did some little profit[If I remember it correctly] but the third failed miserably.

I'm aware the 3 movie bombed, but I thought, note thought, that the second one did make a marginal profit, however of course not as big as the first. My guess would be that the second movies profit would have come more from when it was released on video. I know that I, and most people I know, didn't see it until it was released on video. The third one we all know bombed and was horrible. I think you missunderstood what i said. I said that the first two were quite popular, but later made a suggestion that perhaps the first two, and maybe the third should be released as a dvd pack.

Here are the final ammounts at the box office:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles $182,592,996

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II $106,681,806

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III $58,304,905

So yeah, the second one didn't do to bad, but It's clear that after that disapointment III didn't gather much intrest.

i saw them all in the box office. but i can understand why the third didn't do that great.

I know Peter has expressed interest in seeing a "director's cut" of the first movie, and now with general renewed interest, I think such a DVD would be successful. Just last night I was talking with a co-worker about how some of the theatrical prints had more scenes than others and VHS/DVD release (more stuff on the farm and such). There's a lot of stuff that got cut that I would love to see - even the bit at the end where April submits her TMNT sketches to a comic book publisher. I'm glad that wasn't the actual ending of the movie, but I'd like to see it.

I know that the first movie had just a 12-million $ budget. If the other ones had a similar budget, even the third wasn't a real flop.

TMNT: $13.5 million
TMNT II: $25 million
TMNT III: Doesn't say...

Edit: Yay for boxofficemojo.com :) The budget for the third one was $21 million.

So they still had a lot of profit out of the third movie.

Thats not considered a lot in movie business. About the DVD, now that the TMNT franchice is starting to raise it's head again, a directors cut version of the first movie is possible. But doesn't NL Still own the rights?

Duke

So the third movie made like 37 milllion dollars. Thats more than i thought it would have made.

Karpo_007

Not really, very few movies don't do any profit. The third one clearly shows, that general audience was disapointed at TMNT 2.

On the subject of DVD special editions as a whole, I don't mind a few extra features here and there (not to say the TMNT DVD out now satisfies me), but it's got features up the wazoo like that 4-disc edition of Fellowship, then I consider that overkill.

Well the first 2 discs are just the movie with extra scenes but the other 2 are purely special features.

i just went to wal-mart and i saw that they had the first and second tmnt movie on dvd for 8.78 each.

so i got them, i wasn't going to get the second movie, but i did anyways because it was at a good price and plus i liked the second one even though i hated keno.

Keno isn't that bad... it's Vanilla Ice that hurts in that movie (Though Ice was great in "The New Guy").

I own all three and I don't think you could come up with much for all three movies as far as special features. It would be best to release only the first one with a 2 or 3 disc set. 2 most probable.

Features I'd include:
- Wide Screen and Full Screen
- Remasted sound and video (the first DVD release is pretty nice though)
- English, Spanish, French, and Japanese (if it ever come out in Japan?)
- Deleted Scenes (the comic book clip would have be great!)
- Director Commentary
- Actor Commentary
- "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mania" - a feature on the success of TMNT in the past and today
- Bonus episode of the new TMNT series (the first episode)
- The original Mirage TMNT Vol 1 comic (web comic style)
- Original Trailers
- Character analysis on all four TMNT (possibly more characters)
- Cast info (where they are today)
- Interiew with Peter Laird (possibly also with Kevin Eastman)

and possibly some other stuff...

Well the DVD's are sold at very cheap price, so that partially explains the few Extras. But it is the directors cut I would want to see. Might be just a dream tough.

The "Michaelangelo" Defense League:
Encouraging fans everywhere to add the necessary A to all their new TMNT toys with a Sharpie before opening them and playing with them.
Join today! Why don't you like the new name?

This should clear up some things. I pulled this off of mikeystmnt.com.....

Technical Information: Michaelangelo was technically, the first "ninja turtle" to be created. The first sketch, drawn by Kevin Eastman, was of a turtle wearing a bandanna with a pair of nunchukus strapped to his arms.

Also, there has been some question on the spelling of Michaelangelo. You will notice now that the official spelling of the name is Michelangelo as in the Renaissance painter/sculptor. However, when the characters were created almost 20 years ago, it was accidentally misspelled as Michaelangelo. The error lead to nearly 2 decades of the name being spelled with the "A." When the turtles' popularity was resurrected in 2001, Peter Laird renamed Michelangelo to the correct spelling.

I don't know why either.
