What is your fav. console and why? Mine is PS2. Also, is anyone thinking about getting the GBASP? I am, but only because I sold my GBA for $70, so its just a $30 upgrade.

I like the pc myself, tho its not really a console.

The poll says best when I think it should have said favorite. Anyway, I don't think one console is really absolutely better than the other, they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. That being said, my favorite is the PS2, simply because I have more games for that and I play it more than any other. But I still like all the other consoles and play them all when I feel the urge.

Favorite...much better :P but that's not my point, nor am i blaming this on shredhead, i just said this because i've seen so many people in other forums and chatrooms over reacting about what's the best console that they usually ended in flamewars
BTW the poll itself is gone now i think :teek: what happend?

It doesn't get much better then the original NES.

I have NES, SNES, GameCube, N64, Genesis, and PS2. I had a ColecoVision with the Atari module. All of them have kept me busy for hours on end since I was 4. I love games. The original NES is a classic. EVERYTHING had an NES game based on it at one point. I am very proud to say that unlike some people who use emulators or whatever to play old-school NES games, I still have mine and it's in perfect working order. In fact, I just bought TMNT 2 and 3 for NES a month ago and finally beat them after all these years. :D

Then there's SNES. That system probably has the largest library of great games ever. Like PS has maybe the most games by number, but by ratio of good games / crap games, I think SNES leads the pack.

I even love my N64 for the great Mario, Zelda, and wrestling games on it. I never understood why people hated it so much except that they never really had a good *number* of games. But I personally would rather play a few good games than sift through a lotta crappy ones to find a good one, so that never bugged me.

It'd be impossible to pick a fav for me, I just love games. I play my PS2 the most right now because of Smackdown, but with Zelda that may change.

And I'm definitely getting the new GBA. My old one got stolen, and the new version looks crescent-fresh. 8)

:D I still got my nes too, they're quite cheap here.
I have a bunch of consoles but not the latest generation ones like gamecube or ps2 since theyve gotten too expensive and im not exactly in a very good economic position right now..lets see...i got a nes, genesis, psx, n64...thats about it.
And the pc of course :P

Its hard to chose a favorite console. I mean i love them all for there own reason. Seriously the original NES rocks. I was so mad when mine broke. And who here can really argue that the SNES didn't make like the greatest games of all time. And Even the N64 had its highs. Like mario 64 was fun and so was mariokart 64 plus the zelda games just owned. And then the original Playstation owned. I was like this system rocks but then i got a PS2 and i was like :D i can play my old games on here plus the new ones. Noone can argue a system that plays older games like the PS2 and the GBA doesn't rock. I mean GBA plays every gameboy game ever made. :) And i got a X-box the day it came out. The system has power like nothing. I mean the thing has a hard drive. Thats crazy. And i also have a gamecube but i'm getting close to throwing things at it. Not because i don't like the games i got for it but i can't get that stupid link cable from the GBA to allow me to play metriod fussion on the thing. But i guess i won't because of that multiplayer final fanatsy game that coming out for it. I think its called Cystal Chronicles. Does anyone know when that game comes out? Plus how could i break a system that plays zelda games. And even though i never personally owned a sega or sega genesis because my best friend had both, they also owned in there own way. I mean who never liked Sonic? IMO you would have to be a pretty strange gamer to have not like Sonic. Sadly i never owned a dreamcast nor really knew someone who did.

Thats not what that cables for. If you want that you have to spend 50 bucks for the Gameboy Player. It hooks on to the base of the 'Cube and lets lets you play ALL GB(a) games on your tv, in progressive scan mode too ;). Think Super Gameboy.

Cystal Chronicles comes out in japan in July I think... and from what I've heard SquareEnix wants to get it out here before the holiday shopping spree.

Oh, about the Xbox... the 'Cube is just as powerful. I've had many Xbox fans tell me that Metroid Prime is the best looking game they've ever played. What ever though, people can like what they want to :).

You can't actually play Gameboy Advance games using that cable, Metroid Fusion hooks up to Metroid prime, and you can give Samus the fusion suit in Metroid Prime, and you can also use it to play NES Metroid on the GameCube... they are making an adapter to play GameCUbe games however...

I have all the systems released for US consumption dating back to the Atari 2600, with the exception of The Toilet (AKA Atari Jaguar), 3DO, and the Atari Lynx. I've even been lucky enough to grab hold of a couple of Japanese-only systems. For current times, the PS2 wins hands-down in my book. But for classic, old-school stuff, NES all da way babyyyyy...

I heard the new Donkey Kong and Super Mario Games will be shown on the next E3, besides there will be a new Metal Gear Solid game, that's all I need to live (I hope my girlfriend won't read this :D )!
I also have a PS2 and there are amazingly great games for it but I guess Nintendo's stuff will always be my favourite.

NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBC, GBA and some old Game & Watch thingie.

NES is prob. the best, mostly because it has this simply kickassing game called Life Force: Salamander. It's nearly exactly like the Gradius games, only that it's so much better :p
SMB 3 is THE game though, but I usually pick the Mario Allstars when I want to play that game (although Koopa/Bowser looks friggin awesome with the white hair he had in the NES).
The SNES is ultra cool too, so I'd actually call them even ;) Obvious reasons like Supa Metroid, Link to the Past and that stuff.
But the N64 isn't to be frowned at either, SM 64 and the legendary OoT are alone good reasons.

I can't really pick :p

I have everything since that weird system with the controller that looks like a tv remote, except Dreamcast. Currently I play my Gamecube and X-Box the most. I can't remember the last time I've played my PS2. It's basically a dvd player now. I just don't see anything worth owning that isn't on the other two systems which are always superior. I play my GC alot with Animal Crossing and now Zelda. My X-Box time is spent with NHL2k3 and sometimes Splinter Cell with quite a bit of The Elders Scrolls III: Morrowind tossed in. I'm personally beginning to enjoy the GCN out of all the systems ever. But it's still got aways to go before surpassing NES let alone SNES. My list goes like this:
5. X-Box
4. N64
3. GCN
2. NES
1. SNES
As you can see PSX or PS2 aren't even listed. They just haven't given me as much entertainment.

What is it they say? Ignorance is bliss? It's a necessary evil? :evilgrin:Ignorance my *behind*!

I can honestly say that game consoles are starting to become sellouts now. The games today are a bit too real for my tastes. The only modern game I'm wating for is DOOM III, and it's not because of the uber-advanced graphics engine, but only because I'm a long-time DOOM fan.

In a way:

DOOM III : DOOM :: TMNT 2003 : TMNT

Meaning, DOOM III is basically what id Software's dream of achieveing (sp) DOOM was in the past, but couldn't do just as this new TMNT cartoon was what the original cartoon could've and should've been.

You also gotta take into account that the TV landscape today is different than it was when the old show was on. We have a gazillion more channels to watch, new laws and regs as far as what kind of programming is required to be on, basically more stuff for others to turn on and watch. Yeah, if a show is really good people should be watching it instead of Yu-Gi-Ohmygodthissucks or Pokemyeyesoutmon or even news and other "educational" programs. I know there no difference in graphics, but I got the new SP and Pokemon(ya i know, haha, the games are fun tho) w/ it & I played it on both GBA and GBASP. The game looks a lot better playing it on the SP, rather than on the regular GBA, probably due to the lighting.

I know there no difference in graphics, but I got the new SP and Pokemon(ya i know, haha, the games are fun tho) w/ it & I played it on both GBA and GBASP. The game looks a lot better playing it on the SP, rather than on the regular GBA, probably due to the lighting.

Saying the game has better graphics is different from saying the game looks better. I know the difference. I've been in the industry, sold at retail, done mail order, ran my own game store at one time, and own all the systems going back to the Atari 2600, except for maybe 2 or 3. And I'm telling you, this guy at Wal-Mart really believed that the GBA SP had BETTER graphics. He wasn't saying that the games look better because of the light. He didn't even mention the damn light! He went so far as to say that the difference in graphics is like Nintendo 64 to GameCube, talking about how the hardware in the GBA SP is vastly superior to the original GBA. I swear man, ignorant fools like that shouldn't be ANYWHERE near games. There should be a law that forbids people like that from even playing games.
