Figured I'd start a thread up for the this underrated little series since it doesn't get talked about too much.

I've read every issue except 6, and I think it was a really good book. Even the adaptions were a totally new spin on things.

And even though I'm as big of a Tristan Jones fan as the next guy, I don't think it's ever been pointed before: The Casey origin thing from "Hun" was pretty much done the exact same way in Peter David's "Meet Casey Jones".

I thought it was ok, but they shouldn't have wasted time with mundane stories and 'got on with it'. People buy TMNT comics to see them face the Foot, Baxter and such, not help out some kid fight some no-name gang members. The worst part was, by the time they started featuring a story about the Turtlebot and Mousers, the book was cancelled. WTF?

The book only lasted 7 issues, with the first four being loose adaptions. Obviously we would have gotten Shredder/Foot/Triceratons eventually.

I think the bigger disappointment is Dreamwave could have been the new Archie series, and been what Archie was to the original cartoon.

The Dreamwave series might have been awesome had it continued, and it seemed like they were going to go down a totally different path than the 2k3 series went.

I really like what I've read of it. The art is freakin awsome to me... I love the coloring aswell as the turtles odd shapes & eyes. The stores were pretty tight for adaptions. Was this the same Peter David whos worked on teen titans and stuff? I met that Peter when I was very very young and got autographs and he even asked me to draw him some alien spaceships (he came to an art class I took at a youth center when I was like 8 or 9) so if thats the same dude, I'll poop a brick haha. Either way, I like it and it woulda been cool if it ran longer.

I wished it had lasted long enough to see what the Turtle-nator arc would have been like.

I don't think it would have become like archie though, it would have likely tried to keep in continuity even if some contradictions arose later on as new seasons were made.

I...absolutely hated the series.

I actually found the episode adaptation issues more interesting than the original scripts, as they at least made the effort to tell the story of the cartoon from a different perspective (though I didn't always enjoy that perspective, particularly Baxter's stupid "origin" that "Insane in the Membrane" positively blew away).

The original stories were just dull. And when your original plots are more boring than adaptations of cartoon scripts readers have already seen X amount of times on TV, there's a mighty big problem.

As for the art, I don't much like LeSean's style. His Turtles didn't bother me so much, but I hated the way he drew humans. I think the coloring crew on that book made the pencils look far better than they actually were.

And that's to say nothing of my opinions of LeSean Thomas as a person (I swear, when that guy stubs his toe he blames it on white people...).

At least he wasn't the writer lol.

Either way, it's sad that it only got 7 issues. Imagine what we'd all be saying about the Archie series if that's all the chance it got.

Heh, I just looked up 'QFT' myself. I thought that mayhap it stood for 'Quit F**kin Talking', and Powder was laying the smack down. Oh, how wrong I was!

As for the DW series, I can take or leave it. Its alright, and I personally thought the stories were getting better as they were going on. I hated the first issue when the turtles meet the foot, and then you don't get to see what happens. At first I thought I was missing some pages, but no. And I wasn't too keen on the art either. I actually liked the humans, but disliked the turtles. It woulda been nice to see it carry on, and I certainly would've kept up with it, but I don't really miss it...

The thing about the adaptations is I kinda saw it like how Archie did. Their first issues were comic adapatations and then it went with something new. DW did the same thing. The adaptations kinda helped start the series off with the introduction of the characters and then go from there. The problem was the original stories blew.

Archie's original stories went with May Ray, Leatherhead and Wingnut, characters from the actual cartoon and toyline from the time.

DW's original stories when with random street kids and no-named punks. In the very least those gangsters could have been Purple Dragons with Hun as a cameo or something. They shoulds skipped that crap and went right for the T4 story.

Well, I liked the Dreamwave series up until about issue 5, where Raph copes with his defeat at the hands of Casey Jones (that was a pretty intense issue, IMO). I guess there were 3 more issues that came out after that but I never bought them since the plot descriptions just didn't excite me. I was waiting out for the T4 storyline that never came.:(

I feel like the comic probably wasn't doing what it needed to do. For one thing, knowledge of the actual episodes was a prerequisite for understanding what was going on in the first 3-4 issues, which is fine as fan-service but a nightmare for somebody interested in the book yet without having the experience of watching the Saturday morning cartoon.

Now, I understand why DW went the way of adapting the original episodes in their preliminary issues to establish the universe for the characters to evolve into, yet the first 3-4 issues never actually establish the cannon of the 2k3 show, since Casey and Raph never actually come to their truce and we never even see the Turtles start to tangle with the Shredder (which admittedly might have come later).

I admit it had its problems, but I still enjoyed it and it's a shame it got canned so soon due to DW's incompetence as a business.

I didn´t like the series.

First is the visual part, the effects with the photoshop or whatever software they used is not right, at least not for me.

And to be honest i am not interested in seeing a re-tale of an episode even if it is focused in other characters.

I have all the issues just because, but i might end up selling them in the future...
