I don't like Raphael. He's my least favorite Turtle- regardless of version. The most palatable version is the OT one- and he is still definitely my least favorite. In some other versions he is insufferable. Why is he so angry why his other brothers manage their tempers much better and are nowhere near as wrathful? What happened to him? Does he have brain damage due to falling into the sewers? He is bossy but does not make a good leader. He is impulsive and reckless while at the same time having a stick up his rectal cavity. He has ODD for sure. His room looks like an S and M parlor at best, a torture chamber at worst- how did Splinter let him get away with that, I do not know.

In conclusioon, Raphael is my least favorite Turtle, if you could not tell by now.

speaking purely on my interactions with other fans, my biggest gripe with Raphael isn't so much he, himself, but his fans. Rabid Rapahel fans have got to be the most irriatating thing about Raph. Not all Raphael fans are like this, some are quite decent and a pleasure to converse with, but there are a great quantity that are frankly just tools!

Rapahel is an ok character but when you have people who build him up to almost God like porportions and glorify every vice and characteristic he posseses, it starts to test ones tolerance and generally has the reverse effect of making other people like him as fanatically as they do. They make it seem like he has some elevated status over the other characters in the franchise that some how entitles him to more screen time, more character developement, and lines than any of the other turtles. Like he alone is the pillar of the franchise that supports the turtles and makes them interesting. And when he some how doesn't get the attention rabid Rapahel fans thinks he deserves, they bitch and moan about how he's been cheated or gyped. And yes, I know fans of other turtles do the same, but some how the rabid Rapahel fans are the most vocal and about it.

Again I want to stress I'm not talking about all Rapahel fans, just the emo rabid ones that think he has characteristics that--if you're human, you should identify with. So it's not really Raphael I have a problem with. He's a pretty cool character, with a set of traits that I, personally don't care for very much; but I still like him as a character none the less. It's just the over the top fans of his that glorify him, and his personality traits so much that it turns mild annoyance into misplaced resentment.

Kind of like when fans of Twilight (or any other popular franchise) glorify the storyline and characters so much, you end up not liking it out of annoyance when it might be legtimately cool.

Interesting thought, but I think you can dislike both. If there's a certain personality trait that you can't stand in real life, it makes sense that you dislike it too when is represented by some character in the media (specially if that behavior is glorified.)
