I'm confused if it's just Nickelodeon or Viacom that bought the TMNT rights.

Both. Nickelodeon bought them, and Viacom owns Nickelodeon.

But If Nick wanted to do something to the franchise, would they have to tell Viacom about it?

Viacom would probably tell Nick about it,so,basicly, yes.

That is why I calmed down so fast. I realized that Viacom owns them so we might still see more mature versions of these characters on screen/in print. Plus as my friend pointed out to me, I'll always have the old comics and shows.

I just wish we could have a Nick rep drop in once in a blue moon, like we did with 4kids... it'd be nice to get some details once in a while.

I think it depends how dark the new movie is to see what direction Viacom is willing to go.

They could have a kids cartoon, a dark movie franchise, and comics all at the same time.

Don't forget Paramount, which is also a Viacom company!

They could but didn't Nick already state they wanted the movie promote the TV series pretty much? If that's the case the movie could be the launching point and then the series picks up where it left off.

I'm honestly getting tired of waiting. I know by 2012 I'll have stopped giving a **** all together. My TMNT fire has already died down quite a bit. I won't stop loving them or anything I'm just not excited at all.

I completely agree. 1.Viacom will PROBABLY tone down the turtles even less violent then the OT,but then again,Avatar:The last airbender was violent.

2.I,as well, have no interest in this movie and show, because I don't like anything Nick has made.

I have other things to look forward to between now and then. Graduating, making my thesis film, and going to Germany to watch my Dad play in front of a crowd of 100,000 maybe more. Honestly that will do plenty well to help pass the time.

I fell out with TMNT for awhile before Volume 4 and 2K3 came out too. It just happens when nothing new is coming out. Plus it was kind of a slow death this time around.

Well with nothing new coming of course most of us are going to lose interest. Its not like we have to think about Turtles 24/7.

However when the new stuff does start coming in 2012, I know I'll get excited again. Hell, movie trailers always get me excited. When we see the first teaser for the new TMNT movie in theaters, I'll be very excited, as well as check out what the new show is like.

Well when people think of Nick they think of the Nickelodeon they grew up with which was very comedy based and "kiddy". But look at Nick now and they are a very different channel, they appeal to an older market now with their live action shows like icarly and Degrassi. They also have action shows like Iron Man and Wolverine and the X-Men which was a great show. They also gave us Avatar the Last airbender which is easily one of the best, if not the best cartoons to come out of 00's. The show had comedy but it blended it well with action and the serious nature of the actual show. So people really need to stop thinking of Rugrats, slime and spongebob when they mention Nick.

Also look at the movie for The Last Airbender(avatar), its from paramount (a viacom company) but its still marketed as a "Nickelodeon movie". The movie is taking the world of Avatar in a very serious way, no dumbing down or anything. In fact they even took out apparently almost all the comedy from the show when it made the adaptation to the movie, some see it as a bad thing but it just shows that they are taking it seriously as something that will appeal to both kids and adults, its the way its being marketed. In fact if its a success you can bet Paramount will definitely be ok with trying to make the turtles darker for the live action movie, if it bombs it might be bad for the new turtles movie.

Anyways as far as waiting, I think its good to have a break from stuff. I do it all the time it also helps revive interest. Besides 2012 is not that far away, we are going to have stuff to discuss pretty soon, I'm guessing by early 2011 we'll start hearing more and more stuff about the show and the movie and we'll have plenty to discuss here and keep the interest, its really not much of a bigger wait than waiting between seasons of 2k3 especially from FF to BttS.

They could but didn't Nick already state they wanted the movie promote the TV series pretty much? If that's the case the movie could be the launching point and then the series picks up where it left off.

I don't think Nick has said much of anything, especially not that.

I highly doubt they'll be related, the movie will be darker and the show will be more like the 80s show is most peoples guesses at the moment which IMO is an awesome mix. We just got done with a serious cartoon and it'd suffer like The batman did trying to outdo BTAS. I also don't think the new show will be as silly as the 80s show it'll just take the concept of mutants and other iconic stuff from the 80s show and put it in a more serious situation with comedy and not be totally serious with lame comedy like 2k3 did.

Plus it was kind of a slow death this time around.I think, honestly, the less I think/care about the Nickelodeon era now, the more excited and pleased with it I'll be when it comes out.

I'm kind of looking forward to a second wave of nostalgia. You know, finally have something come along and prompt me to go back over all the old material again and whatnot.

Or if they're not going to stop thinking about them, then they should also start thinking about Ren and Stimpy and Invader Zim. Both were Nicktoons, and both were far from the norm.
