TMNT books I - IV found

So how rare are the old TMNT collected books I- IV (the ones in color)? I found them at a store in mall in Raleigh, NC today and he has more than 1 copy of each and is selling them at basicly cover price.

I picked up the four books and the 3 river issues for a total of 40 dollars. The books are not in excellent condition but are definitely readable.

They aren't very rare a set can go for $20-$50 on ebay normally.

Huh. I made this precise thread about a month ago when I found Books I through IV at my local comic shop going for cover price.

And yeah, they apparently AREN'T rare at all and go for next to nothing on the after market.

I'm just as surprised as you are, considering other TMNT trades regularly go for $80 to $100 a pop, even the ones published less than a year or two ago.

First Comics just printed so many of their color comics collections that even now, in today's market where any and all TMNT trades command exorbitant prices on eBay, they STILL can be found for dirt cheap.

Not all TMNT trades are that rare. 2-6 of the first trade series are still going for 7 bucks on the Mirage site. People just need to know where to look. The Tundra books aren't rare either, I see all 4 for 20 quite often.

The rare books are as follows
The 3 volume 1 printings from 88 and 90. Especially the HC
TMNT collected book V 7 is very rare
Some people think Shell Shock is rare I'm not sure I agree
The Image Collected Book
Tales of the TMNT Collected Books Vol. I and 2. 2 is very rare
TMNT - Soul's Winter
TMNT Collected Book Volume One has become rare as we all know
Future Tense is looking to become rare as well

I spent the last few years buying all of these so I gauge this on my personal experience. If I had to pay over 20 for any of the trades or I see them very seldom. Some of these trades I've only see once on Ebay and never again after that.

The thing is people over charge for these on Ebay all the time so people think they're rarer then they really are. Some people are charging like 30 bucks for the Challenges HC which you can buy from the Mirage site for like 10 dollars.

Ok so I learned that these books were not quite as rare. So I hope I run into the TMNT collected book 4 somewhere so I can semi complete the main story in paperback for my shelf. These collected books were probably not in color though were they?

The only color books are the First books, Bodycount, and the 25th book Kevin released where he colored some old issues, like Raph's one shot.

The First Comics can command a fair amount (though not often), esp. if you can get 1st printings of them.
