View Full Version : Do guys prefer girls wearing make-up or not?

Some girls would look totally different before and after putting on make-up. For sure make-up makes girls look better, though sometimes it covers all the flaws of a plain face. Perhaps, that's the reason girls like it. However, what do guys think of it? Would you prefer a girl wearing make-up anyway even if it's not her real look?

Every girl looks better with makeup. Anyone who says they don't is stupid or lying.

I don't.
I look like a drag queen in makeup, which is why I don't wear any.

What Do i prefer? Anything but heavy-heavy doses of make-up. A little can make a girl look real nice, none at all can show their true beauty, but a bucket full of make-up, I find to be creepy.
A little is good. Street-walker/clown levels are unappealing. But, for a girl to wear no makeup at all regularly gives the impression she doesn't care about her appearance.

What ever looks good. When I'm in love with a girl I don't notice a difference though.

Yeah...you're a complete idiot. There are certain girls that look as, or more, attractive without makeup than they do with it.
More often than not, I find that makeup can make a girl look a lot worse looking than she is.
You know what's the best? Girls who wear too much cover-up, then don't properly blend it around certain areas. It looks like they've got some kind of horrible skin disease.
Makeup is dumb for the most part. If you have to cover yourself with borderline paint, you are ugly, and I'm sorry.

That's just not true. Unless you're talking stage or Halloween makeup... it's far from a "borderline paint." And although I do think that it makes everyone look better, it can not make an ugly person attractive. Worn correctly, makeup just enhances your good features.
I'm sure that almost every girl you've beaten off to was wearing makeup, and probably a lot of it.

The anime girl in your avatar is cute. I'm not sure if she's wearing make up or not. I like her. I'm not sure what this post does to my reputation or creditability, but I said it anyways, and it's just a message board so who cares.

I don't mind it either way. The only time it bothers me is when girls cake it on so bad they look like stereotype prostitutes. I see a lot of that at my school. I guess being a fashion student is free reign to look ridiculous. The worst for me is the blue around the eyes. Girls go over board with that crap.

Applying the makeup like a sane person would help this dude look like a girl.

I hate wearing make up....it's so bad for your skin!
I wear it when I have to....at work. on the weekends au naturale (and I look nice without it....no bad skin that I need to cover)

I don't care either way personally.

Eh... the most I wear is mascara and lip gloss. I never understand the point of plastering your skin with the stuff.

No make-up for me. Not good for my skin.
I find a lot of women look just as good without it as they do with it (reasonable amounts of course).
No Mimi from the Drew Carey show plxkthx.

What the hell were you thinking when you posted this?
Well, to answer your question, I wasn't thinking. I was being stupid.
You're damn right you were being stupid!
Okay, well I'm sorry, and I no longer stand by my original post in this topic.
Good. Next time think before you speak. Now stop talking to yourself and go to bed. It's 1:17 AM right now.
Okay, you're right. Goodnight.
I said stop talking to yourself!
What...what are you doing?

So, is this the direction of your third movie? Tony Stark vs Iron Man? Not bad. Will red kryptonite be involved?
Light mineral make up, and chapstick is the way to go. I love natural make up, it is light and not even noticable at times. A little can go a long ways.
But I'm not a guy... so.

I don't wear make up at all because I just don't like it. I had to wear it when I performed in plays in high school, but I always hated it. I prefer not to wear it unless I have to.
Some women look better without make-up, some with it.
But it doesn't mean a thing if you're not overall taking personal care of yourself. True beauty comes from within, and no amount of make-up can cover that.

I'm with you, mineral makeup is the best. I use a translucent primer with SPF 30 and then lightly brush mineral powder on my t-zone. I never understood why girls would cake the makeup on their cheeks to take redness out and then cake pink blush on top of that. Seriously, why?

make-up or no make-up... It's all good
I would say "no make-up makes you look better", but I think this would be highly hypocritical of me; Lately I've been wearing foundation make-up every two weeks or so due to break outs and pimples.
Personally I think there's a difference to use make-up to still be yourself and hide hideous scabs and what-not from puberty's greatest enemy, or doing yourself up to attract boys to your arms like a Venus Flytrap does with bugs and flies.
I won't lie - Make-up helps. It makes me feel like I'm not parading a terrible face about. My face breaks out in times of stress, so it's just been a huge mess as of late. But, I've found that as long as you take care with it and tastefully apply it so it isn't caked on, it does it's job well. It lessens the intensity of blotches on my face and, while it doesn't completely hide it, it at least doesn't make me look as hideous.
Then there are the girls that slap it on and take extra care to make sure everyone knows that they are wearing it. Like the giant blue eye-shadow man... woman... thing that Spit posted.
I guess going back to the question, it all depends on the context. Like... if you were looking for a date or someone as a partner for some period of time, no matter if it's dating or marriage, I'm sure everyone would pick personality over looks. Yet if someone was approached in the street with two photos of two women, one wearing make up and one not, and asked "who is the more appealing of the two?"... well, I'd assume most men would pick the one with make-up accenting her features a bit more.
I guess I'm just rambling now but... yeah. Make-up can be quite the double-edged sword unless you know how to handle it properly and in moderation.
Haha, I almost pictured you in a Neutrogena commercial for a minute there, Ra. :P
JUST WATCH AS THESE BLACK HEADS JUST PEEL AWAY! Along with the rest of your skin!

I know, minerals tone your face, and make it look more natural and contain less blemishes. It also can help clear out blemishes, minerals are just to much fun.
My sister wears caked on makeup, I could shovel it off.
BTW, ever tried Bare Minerals?
I have never met any one who looked better without makeup. Unless it was an extreme makeup and then they took it off. Yeah, those types look better without it.
Edit:... Ra's a chick? :O

I don't wear make up at all because I had some skin problems (atopic) I prefer not to wear it unless I have to.... I was a time in a local TV program and they used a ton of make-up over my face/bust...it was a small sacrifice, even funny (sometimes) , but It was necessary for look good in TV...
But acctually there is not so much difference between use or not...! I dont feel myself more pretty with make-up...:P
So I voted:
It depends on different situations and girls'd better wear some in public occasions. (public occasions= TV show, friend“s weddings...a very few rarely examples)
Another non-make-up wearer here. Gave it a shot in high school, but it just wasn't me. I just can't bring myself to "improve" anything about myself solely so others will think "better" of me. I think it's an allergy or something.

It just occurred to me that even though I'm not a guy, I'm still "qualified" to participate in the poll.
I don't prefer girls to wear make up.
In fact, their preference for make up has nothing to do with my preference for them.
If they like it, and it makes them feel sexy, then that's something I can get behind. But I don't need the smoke and mirrors that make up provides to feel confidant that my lady wants me.

Doesn't really bother me. There's a telly show over here, Snog, Marry Or Avoid, which has mainly lasses with a load of slap on their faces, getting made under, to see what they look like without the makeup. Nine times out've ten i'd have tapped them either way. Low standards, y'see. It's a great thing!
