View Full Version : Original Sculpt BEBOP and ROCKSTEADY finished
http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k594/destroed80/BNR_edited-1.jpg
This is my take on bebop and rocksteady, I'ts kind of a fusion of looks for the 2, bebop is more based on the cartoon color scheme, while rocksteady is based on the original figure. I really wanted bebop and rocksteady to be kinda dirty and grungy looking...

Constructionwise he was a MOTUC mer man figure i sculpted over, check out my wip thread http://www.thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=64550 for more detail on the sculpting process.
Paint wise, he's a fusion of liquitex and tamiya. I'm annoyed cause some of the pictures came out to dark again his skins a bit lighter in person. I re adjusted my light set up and and i had even more light but some of my shots are to dark. I don't like the color of the turtle shells.

contructionwise again, rocksteady is a MOTUC merman body that i sculpted over and for more detail on the process you can see the wip thread. http://www.thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=64550&start=15
Paint again liquitext and tamiya,

I also made lots of accessories, I tried to match the original figures accessories. I actually sculpted the shields, and the drill gun the other stuff is some hodge pode fodder. I wanted to make the knives, and tried making them but i messed them up at the last minute. Bebops silver gun with a red tip is a homage to the gun he had in the TMNT arcade game. Rocksteadys big gun is just an extra i felt he'd look cool with it fit his style i felt.
i took a wip pic if anyone want to see the sheild and gun.

Both looks awesome, you did a great job. My only gripe is Rocksteady's head looks a bit too big for his body. I think he should have been bulkier and maybe a bit shorter then Bebop. That aside though these are some of the best customs I've seen.

I replied, back when you posted them unpainted.
I love, love, love them! :tgrin:
Fantastic work, man -- even moreso since you sculpted them yourself! Crazy good; can't wait to see what you'll do next. :D

That was the one thing that I noticed and which bothered me as well. But I don't think that the problem is that the head is too big. I think that the neck is too small. Rocksteady figures are usually designed with either very thick necks or no visible neck at all.

RayH's sculpt (which is terrific by the way) has a thinner neck, most likely to retain as much of the articulation as possible.

I agree totally, it's funny you mentioned that. Cause originally before i made him, i wanted to make him a bit smaller than bebop, i always though of bebop as bigger of the two. But i made a part of the body a bit big, and then i ended up making everything a bit thicker and bigger to stay in proportion with the part i had made a bit big. The heads a bit big as well, compared to the animation model, it bugged me, but I just rationalize it as being toy based proportions. ;-p

The neck on both of them were kinda modified in trying to convert them to the the motuc buck body style proportions and articulation, but also thats kinda my rational as an update to the designs.
Thats a cool pic of all the rocksteady i never seen those back to back like that i never noticed how rocksteady had the same pants on mutiple figures. And i really like the texture on the boxing rocksteady.
Big thanks on all the feedback, i really love getting it. Right now I'm finishing up traag and rat king.

I think that having Rocksteady being bigger than Bebop is just fine. After all, a rhinocerous is usually significantly larger than a warthog, in terms of mass. And in the cartoon, human Rocksteady was much wider than human Bebop (even if Rocksteady WAS a bit shorter).
Totally looking forward to seeing what you did with Rat King. He's my next repaint, as well.
