We all love the ninja turtles but if you had to choose your least favorite of the 4, who would you choose and why?

I picked Michaelangelo, I just feel he is the weekest of the 4 in fighting and I prefer the more serious turtles in the other 3. Still like Mikey I just pick him as my last favorite which is actually wierd because he was my favorite when I was a young kid.

I went with Leo. I love Leo to little pieces, but I don't connect to him as much as the other turtles.

Don brings out the geek in me. The interaction between Mike and Raph reminds of how my sister interacts with her husband. My sister is often anger and sarcastic (Raph) while her husband is often goofy and childish (Mikey) and most conversations with her husband involves her insulting/teasing/abusing him (alas like Raph and Mikey). It's a really strange dynamic.

Point is, While the rest of the turtles remind me of family or a personal connection, Leo stands out on his own. He's still awesome though.

Can't vote, each different universe has their own worst turtle.

Mirage - Raph (he's a cool character, just my least favorite here)
OT - Leo (Cam Clarke's a great VA, but OT Leo just stated the obvious and was a lame-o)
90's Films - Don (Corey. Feldman.)
2k3 and 07 Film - Mike (We get it... he's the "funny" turtle.)

Hrmmmm...let me see.
OT turtles: Leo- He seemed so whiney all the time. Plus I think Donnie was more of a leader than Leo in a LOT of the eps.
Mirage: Raph- He's a cool character but I find the other three more interesting.
Image: Don- I like the idea of Cyber don. Just wasn't too big of a fan of his design. Raph was really over the top in this but he showed a lot of growth leading the Foot in those 3 or 4 issues.
Movies 1-3: Probably Donnie. but only because his character in the first one was more like a Mikey clone, as much as I like Feldman.
2k3 toon-2k7 movie Donnie Mikey tie. Mikey for being too much of a goofball. Donnie for being too much of a softy. Seriously I feel that he was easily the weakest of the four in all respects, safe for maybe intellectually.
SOOO i guess that would leave Donnie? considering he's my favorite turtle overall cannot compute...

Mikey. At first I really like Leo because of his swords, but as time goes by, it seems like Mikey is the most fun character. I wouldn't like to be such a tight ass like Leo all the time.

Voted Leo, but after much thought that has shifted. In my childhood Leo's character was to dry and just the typical leader. But then came the new series, and Mikey climbed up into that role, because he was just annoying.

I have never liked Leonardo in the 2k3
Leo was bland in OT
The comics, I kind of equally liked all the turtles
The movies, they all had aspects I liked about them

I have to go with don in an overall aspect.
The main reasons are that he just doesn't appeal to me as a character. The only time I thought he wasn't the worst was in the 1st movie. He and Mikey were awesom duo. But I think he didn't fit in as well in the other universes

over all I gotta go with Raphael. Though it varies from medium to medium. In the Old toon I enjoyed his sarcastice wit and he really brought something to the table show wise, so I can't say I actually disliked him in the old toon. He was just not my favorite. (Though I didn't like how he constantly ripped on Michelanbgelo in the OT)

But I really not into the tough ass angsty versions of him mostly because that personality type gets on my nerves and I'm equally annoyed on how glorified that personality type is in the media. Basically any version of Raph that doesn't steal the spot light with with angsty crap to the point where the other turtles fall into the back ground I like. Plus some of his fans can get a little too in your face over the littlest slight over him. Which doesn't help.

However as far as the 2k3 toon goes, Mike was easily my least favorite. He's traditionally my favorite turtle and I'm just disapointed on how he was written in that show. Wasn't too thrilled with his personality in the CGI movie either.

Oh, sh*t. I'm just so used to seeing the same "who's your favorite turtle?" thread pop up every few weeks that I assumed this was the same case without even reading the title fully.

In that case, I retract my vote. Mikey is my least favorite. As far as the mirage comics go, I have no qualms with the guy. He's mild mannered, likes to chill with his cat, do some writing & play with shadow. Its his bastardized personality in the 2003 toon & 4th movie that I don't care for. I don't mind the OT version at all but 2k3/TMNT... UGH.

I really get sick of Raph sometimes, too. He's just so over the top. I know there are plenty of people like that in real life but most of the time they just take it too far.

I'm kinda surprise by the Leo and Mikey hate too. I thought I was alone with Leo (though I still love him for other reasons). I think basically everyone's explanation for the dislike of one turtle is "too much". I think depending on the medium and series, at least one or two of the turtles' personalities were on overload.

Leo can sometimes be written to be too much of straight arrow and end up either boring or hard to connect with.

Mikey can be written to be too much of clown and a doofus to the point that it gets annoying.

Raph can be written to be way to anger if not a good amount of psycho.

And Don...well...

I think the reason why there isn't as much dislike for Don is because there are few mediums in which he is over the top. Don's personality is kinda hard to go overboard with because part of his personality is chilling out in the background till he is needed (sorta shyish) and being the reasonable one.

My least favorite Turtle is Raphael. And that goes for every single universe- albeit he is somewhat more tolerable in the OT and Archie.

I dislike sarcasm in general. It has its time and place. A lot of the time I do not even get it. It has an element of contempt. Raphael overdoes the sarcasm way too much.

And why is he so angry? His other 3 brothers do not seem to be anywhere near as angry. While Splinter did not treat all 4 of them exactly the same, I am pretty sure he treated all of them fairly. It's not like Splinter picks on Raphael- he reprimands Michelangelo just as much, if not more in some of the universes.

Raphael thinks he is such a badass- when the truth is he has a lot of fears. Raphael tries to boss others around futilely. Raphael is very impulsive- while at the same time he has a major stick up his rectal cavity. He is out to pop the bubbles of the other 3 Turtles- without offering better alternatives.

Overall, I dislike Raphael because he is so pessimistic. I do not deal well with negative people- or Turtles.

What are you talking about? Mikey is alot of things but I would NEVER describe him as a weak (or the weakest) fighter. Are you even talking about 4KIDS Mikey?

I went reluctantly with Raphael. He just gets on my nerves sometimes, especially with his "OMG you are WEAK and a COWARD, I hate you!" :-? The dude can be pretty critical and judgmental somtimes if you don't meet his standards, which is funny because he hates this in Leonardo. and I agree with those who say he's a glory hog,it seems the writers don't know (or want to try) to develop any of the other turtles other than him. Though I do think Scandia is being a haesh here. YIKES!

But when it comes to 4KIDS series. definately Mikey. Even Raph can get on my last nerve, I could at least tolerate him. But not Mikey after a while. It's sad, I used to feel sorry for Mikey and couldn't understand why so many fans critisized him so much. But after a while I could see where everyon was coming from.

Now I wonder why is Leonardo so disliked? I think the only time he was unlikeable was when he was traumatized in season 4 of the 2k3 cartoon. He had shell-shock: not only was his shell broken, his mind and spirit were broken as well. Hence he was not his usual self-he had disintegrated and gone into his shadow. He had a psychiatric injury- not to be confused with brain damage/traumatic brain injury.

However, the complaints I am seeing here about Leo do not seem to be about this. They seem to be about his general personality and idealism in all the universes. Since when is being a goody two shoes such a loathsome and egregious offense? Leo has a personality. He has hobbies and interests. He is not Splinter's puppet.

I am not getting the Leo hate the same way many of you are not getting the Raph hate. And for the record, I do not hate Raphael. There are many characters I dislike way more than him. He is just my least favorite Turtle for a reason.

wow, all you people who have a problem with Raphael just have a problem with awsome. Because Raphael is freakin awsome people. End of story.

I'm not surpriced Leo and Raph have the most votes as the least favorite. They are easily the two turtles with the most nusances and depth of character. Well rounded characters tend to have more personality and that includes character quirks, so they'll obviously have more about them to dislike than the caratures.

As for my least favorite? Michelangelo all the way. Can't stand him at all. He's so useless he barely registers as an equal memeber of the team. I like Mike from the mirage comics way more(it's the only version of him I actully DO like and remotely respect), but even there he is so bland compared to Leo, Don, and Raph. He's kind of just there, nothing really happens to him. I like him but he's easily the turtle I connect with the least. I can't really think of any story arc from the old comics that explored him like Raph, Don and Leo do. So Michelangelo is my least favorite turtle.

Due to the TMNT having slightly different personalities in each of their incarnations it's a bit hard to answer this question. My vote goes to Leo since he has always seemed too idealistic for my tastes.

I voted for Raphael. I don't have anything against him, but I can't really relate with Raph like I can relate to the other three. I do understand the hostility towards Raphael. The guy has something to say about everything. In the first movie, Raph is pouting like a little baby the whole time Mikey is doing his impressions for April while Don and Leo are having a fine time. I recently re-watched the scene...Raph isn't humored at all! That's the kind of downer you don't invite to parties.

I've never seen Leonardo as "boring," he is by far the most spiritual of the Turtles, which is very much an "in depth" quality. He also has keen interests in history and obviously, meditation. If improving one's self through education and spiritual means is "boring", then I'm afraid I am also boring.

I can understand why people would choose Michelangelo's old toon/new toon incarnation, just because they kill him with corny culture jokes, but to say that Mike is not a good fighter, or the least skilled fighter, seems to me unfounded. He has on more than one occasion been labeled the fasted and most athletic Turtle, and I think if push came to shove Mike could definitely hold his own. Donatello is the least skilled fighter, and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it. Donny brings so much to the table, but diligence in martial arts I fear is not his top priority. That being said, though, I'm glad Donny is finally getting some love. Too often is he misunderstood.

Why the frickin' hell do many people diss Leo? He almost has no problems in himself and he's just very awesome like others! I hate it when many people "hate" him almost for nothing! Leo's just too responsible and serious to be funny but he also has his moments and his humorous side. I've watched all episodes of TMNT (especially the 2003 series) and Leo was badass! That's why I like him very much (I like the others too)! All haters stink and understand nothing about him. Same here for Mikey, he's not a pinhead, and he's frickin' awesome too! Leo and Mikey are the best forever!!!

Classic Cartoon: Loved them all equally. Can't say I disliked a single one. (though sometimes it bother me when Raphel was picking on my Michaelangelo :()

Live action movie 1: Leonardo. He was such a dweeby, brown nosing little twerp that I just couldn't take seriously as a "leader" figure. He was forever getting verbally pwned by Rapahel and his voice was too high and annoying.

Live Action movie 2: Raphel. His little hissy fits and petulant disposition annoyed me and his insisting he do things his way only got him attacked and then captured which irritated me.

Live Action Movie 3: all of them. They each pissed me off.

2k3 cartoon: I have to say with a heavy heart Mikey. He is my favorite turtle I love him to death but I feel all the problems with his character started here in 2k3 and it's been down hill ever since. He started out decently enough though his over-all personality bugged me but boy did he nose dive about half way through the series or what.

TMNT CGI movie: toss-up between Rapahel and Mikey. I felt sorry for Raphael through out the whole movie but I feel he went about it in a negative way and lashed out at the wrong people. Mikey was waaaaay more telerable than his 2k3 counter-part but they made him such a goofy stupid little brother sterotype I couldn't take him seriously as as ninja for the most part. He was portrayed as someone who has to be looked after or he'll screw up or get into trouble and that bothered me. And I think that this permentally what we are going to get from now on as far as Mchelangelo potrayals go which is sad.

It really depends on the incarnation for me. I'm not a big fan of Raphael from the 2k3 series or the TMNT movie. He's too much "Grrr, I'm angry." It does get tiresome after awhile.

Though I didn't have that same feeling about Raph from the 1st movie or from the OT cartoon. I guess it was balanced with more humor or character layers.

It may sound dumb but...Leonardo...mainly for the CGI 2007 film. I just could not stand him in that movie. "Hi, my name is Leonardo. I never wrote to you guys, so I know you thought i was dead. And I decided to become sort of a vigilante/hero, protecting the villagers...but that's okay...because, yay, I came back AND I got a spiffy, pretty medal by Splinter. He's all proud of me and such, even though you all thought I was dead and, like, oh so worried about me. Smiles all around bros!! Ah, Raph...you can not be a vigilante/hero protecting people...even though I did the same in the jungle, but YOU can't cause, hee hee hee, you see I'm BETTER than you...so, okay?"

Grrrr...what the, huh? (and no, I don't know why I made him sound like a Valley Girl.)

Raph is my least favorite in general because he usually comes across as a friggin' bully. However, he was my favorite in the OTverse (where he was just a class clown). Go figure.

Mirage: I like them all... can't choose.

OT: Leonardo. Don't hate him here, but the other three are just so loveable and he's a great big dork.

First and Third Movie: Donatello. You seriously expect me to like a Corey Feldman character over anyone else?

Second Movie: Raphael. All the good one's end in "o". Plus, I don't like his new voice actor.

Archie: Leo. His hatred for guns was a little too apparent and got old fast.

4kids: Leo. He is such an idiot. He throws a tantrum when Splinter tells him he's a better fighter than his brothers, just cause he's in love with his swords? Stupid. Takes the whole city at war incident upon himself, saving mobsters from the Foot in the process? Stupid. Gets mad at himself for unknowingly releasing the Foot Mystics even though he had to do so to save Donatello's life? Really stupid. (Runner up here is Michaelangelo, what an ass-hat).

CGI Movie: Leo. My gosh, what a douche-bag. "...Splinter's directorderrrrrs with you" "Good night, dark prince" "Come to daddy" CRINGE!

Turtles Forever:
NT: Raph. He just bitched the whole movie.
OT: Mike. People complain that the OT turtles were too dumb, and I generally disagree with that statement but they'd be right in this case. Michaelangelo was really whacky in the original series, but he was normally calm and just had this charm about him. Here he's basically retarded.
Mirage: Raphael. Voice was way too deep considering he's 13 at this point.

I am genuinely not surprised that Raphael is in the lead for least favorite, his angsty disposition especially in the later series and movie did get a bit old and just not relatable, you would think they would've matured their personalities a little, same thing applies to Michelangelo's fun loving goofball attitude.

And I'll diss Leo when he (or whoever's writing the story) deserves it. I'm not biased against him either. I love Mirage and Live-action movie Leo, plus I almost always use him in video games because I think swords are badass.

I don't find anything stupid in those acts!

Really now? It's not stupid to cry over a compliment? It's not stupid to prolong a gang war by not letting one side be defeated? It's not stupid to regret doing something that saved your brother's life?

ToTheNines, you may be on to something. I love Leonardo as my #1 favorite. But if I can’t like him in a specific film or show, I cannot like the others at all. I agree with you: Leo acted like an idiot on the 2k3 series, and it fit for the whiney voice from Michael Sinterniklaas. Still, heroes tend to blame themselves for a certain thing, which is not exactly stupid when it starts, but it gets old fast. I will have to disagree with you, however, on Leo’s personality in the 2k7 film. So what if he acted like a jerk a little bit. Sometimes, when you’re the leader, you have to be a hardass to take charge. I found no problem with him in that movie. Plus he had his soft moments. He pulled through. I’m just hoping that in the new Nickelodeon series, he does not act as stupid as he did in the 2k3 series. Leonardo is NOT stupid, and I don’t want too much of that stupidity on the new show. It won’t be like that, will it?

Actually I liked Corey Feldman's Donatello a lot more than 2nd movie Donatello. I don't mind Donatello being brainy, but the 2nd movie version was just too bland for me. At least OT Don had a personality beyond just being all scientific.

You're right about something, but still, Leo ain't the only one who has flaws, I repeat. He's the most responsible and disciplined of the 4, and I can understand that, but I really kinda feel bad for him, I always benefited Leo of the 2k3 series the most, because he was responsible, yet naive, but still, yea...

I disagree, he's not annoying at all, just because he tries to improve himself like that. Without Donny Leo can pull through in his own way, stop makin' him look like a loser compared to the others, this is wrong. I know that, but still, I usually think that if Leo is least fave for someone, it means to me that he's the most dissed and disliked by them just because he tries to be a perfect brother and he's usually serious, it's like those are his "flaws" or something (in their opinion).

It makes me really sad thinking that Leo does not have love in TMNT fan world. I feel really bad for him, he's the most underappreciated turtle of the 4. :(But still, he isn't hated by fans...well, most here anyway. You can still have a least favorite character and not dislike said character. If anyone seems to get literal hate, it's Raph. Anywho, for me, he was my least favorite because, to me, he was too boring because he always came across as perfect, even though I knew he wasn't. He was too "goody goody" for me, I feel. Compared to the others, he didn't have those crazy quirks, you know? He, too me, was like Abbott of Abbott and Costello. Alone (and as the straight man), he's not as interesting, but his chemistry with others around him, makes for an interesting, more entertaining character, but like I said, that's only how I view him. He was too serious and good for me.

I don't know, usually many people LOVE his anger and hotheadness, they think it makes him look cooler, etc.
Mostly, I blame the creators, because they made Leo look bad in most versions (including the 2003 Leo), and in the 2007 movie Leo acted arrogant and totally not his style, especially in the fighting scene with Raph.

You are so frickin' rude to my favourite turtle. Leo's very cool and NOT a prick and he has a normal personality and he kicks asses! Go figure, frickin' hater! :x

It's cool that you think that way, nothing wrong with that and I like your passion :) This is just me stating my case for my own opinion on Leonardo, and I don't mind him except one time.

The only time I had a problem with Leo was in the CGI film. And in my OPINION, he is a prick in the CGI film.

Saying "I'm better than you"?

leaving his family for another year and not even writing them or letting them know that he was even alive?

Then he comes back and it seems it's all 'ok'. His brothers Don and Mikey are all smiles, not angry at all for never even 'hearing' from him, and Splinter gives Leo a pat on the head, smiles, and a medal saying 'you have done well'....huh? How is that again?

Think about it, if you had a brother or sister who was supposed to back in a year...that passes, and for ANOTHER year you never even heard from them? Like at all? And then they come back, get a medal and all smiles, and for what? Worrying his family into thinking he was dead, dying, sick, or more? Why WOULDN'T someone be mad at a guy like that?

And what did Leo do in the jungle? The EXACT SAME thing that Raphael did in the city...he fought bad guys to help others...only Leo did it in the jungle and Raph did it in the city. And yet it was alright for Leonardo to do that, but 'oh so horrible' that Raphael did it. At least that was how it looked to me.

But that was just my take on it. Don't take it too seriously.

But I did like Leo in the live action films (my fave incarnation of him) and the 2k3 series he was good (and yes, I can admit my favorite is Raphael), but the CGI Leo was the only time I've ever hated any of the turtles in any incarnation.

I understand your opinion, yea, I didn't like the 2k7 movie Leo either (that fighting scene with Raph, he was way too arrogant), I like only the 2k3 Leo, IMO he's the best of the all versions of TMNT, he cares for everybody he loves; he is loyal, respectful, honorable and kickass. Sure he has his flaws, nobody's perfect, everybody has sins, right? In the 4th season he was very depressed after the "Exodus pt.1" episode, I understand him and I can feel his pain, it's just too emotional etc. I don't really care about the majority of versions of him, I just care only about the 2k3 Leo.

Could've sworn I answered this, but here goes.

I can't say fully, but I'd still have to go with Leonardo, but it truly depends on the actual medium.

For Mirage, Raph would be my least favorite because of the anger issues.

For the OT series, Leonardo, because I found him to be a boring character.

For Archie, I'd have to say Leonardo again, but that's because he was majorly gypped for it, and didn't get the focus that he deserved.

For movie 1, I didn't have a least favorite. I didn't have a least favorite for movies 2, 3, or 2007 either, although it might lean towards both Leo and Raph for that one, but Leo maybe more so because Leo came across as much too arrogant for it and that seemed out of character to me.

I don't remember enough about TNM and I've never watched the 2k3 series.

Like I was saying, I don't dislike any of the characters, I just favor the others more because they may have more interesting aspects to their characters that I find kind of cool. For the Mirage series, I really like Donny and Mikey for it. As I mentioned above, Raph's anger is what makes him the least favorite for me, despite the fact that I loved Raph for his movie 1 portrayal. For Mirage, his rage was odd to me and wasn't fully explained enough for me. At least Archie gave a reason for Raph's attitude and stuff, so I'm more empathetic towards his situation. In Mirage, I did find it a bit admirable how he'd go into like "rage mode" if anyone ever messed with Mikey, but it's just too over the top for me.

For the OT series and Archie, as I mentioned, Leo's character was too boring for me. He didn't get the focus I felt he deserved in the Archie series (along with Mikey, imo). For me, he was too much of the straight man. I love his honorable character and his heroism and responsibility and level-headedness, but unfortunately, to me, those aspects of his character aren't particularly interesting to me. I guess if Leo had more of a dark side (which I feel Donny has), he probably would interest me more.

Edit: So there is another thread asking this same exact thing. I'd just posted in that one.

I guess if Leo had more of a dark side (which I feel Donny has), he probably would interest me more.

Edit: So there is another thread asking this same exact thing. I'd just posted in that one.

http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=33237

If you didn't watch the 2k3 series, you should, especially Season 4, where we can see Leo "turning to a dark side", and we can see his character development after the encounter with the Shredder where the TMNT almost got killed by him and Karai (I hate her, lol!), so, Leo in the 4th Season became more badass, but his new attitude didn't fit him still, he totally acted like Raph in that Season before meeting the Ancient One and going back to his own old sweet self. Anywho, I suggest you watching the 2k3 series, they're the best and I hope you'll like Leo more! :)

How is Leo annoying? He’s just working hard to be a good leader and good ninja. I like that he practices and studies hard. Plus, he may not have Donatello’s expertise, but like I say, he’s smart. He doesn’t need him all the time. Plus, I think Leo does have a sense of humor, he just hardly shows it. So he can’t crack a joke like Mike can. So what. He makes puns and quips that somehow can make someone laugh. I know I’m going to regret mentioning this – in the first Turtle Titan episode, we hear Leo create a pun titled “The Legion of Sewer Heroes.” That was the only funny part of the episode. So I don’t know why anyone’s complaining. Even for the 2k7 film. I don't think he was acting like himself, I agree to that. But he regained himself and brought the team back (with Raph) in the very end. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses. They can be liked in many ways, but also disliked for a few reasons. As much as I think Leo is cool, I love all the turtles. It’s just a few of the humans that annoy me. Just remember this: you get rid of any one of those turtles (whether it’s Raph or Leo), the show, movie, or comic is over. Which goes to say: I want to stop talking about our least favorite turtle. It just makes things depressing. If he ends up as the least favorite, I might get upset.:tcry::tmad: Keep Leonardo at the top people!!!! :shredder:

I think 'least favorite' is a good way to word it. It doesn't connotate hatred of the character.

For me, it would have to be Michelangelo. I don't dislike him at all, I just don't understand or relate to him. At all. Which is fine; more power to people with that sort of personality, but I just can't relate. Raph would be a close second, for the same reasons, but sometimes I can sympathize with his reactions and emotions.

Maybe I was just thinking it too hard. ^_^ OT Leo's character was so inconsistent that it was frustrating. But, when they tried sticking him with the comedy relief characterizations, he always seemed like he was talking down to the audience. That pissed me off.

I agree with this... Leo for me as well. I could never relate to him as much. I always found him to be a bit of an ass kisser. When I was young and played with the toys, he was always the one that was kidnapped by Shredder... and the other three would have to rescue him. I know, that's usually Raph's job... but I didn't like Leo very much back then either. :trazz:

I think when I was a kid I probably didn't pay as much attention to Leonardo (OT) only because he was more of the grown up on the show, and you know when you're a kid you tend to like the more obviously funny characters like Michaelangelo.

But watching the OT series again now, I think Leonardo's often very funny and interesting, just in more of a straight man way. Those types of characters are vital to the team, but rarely get any of the credit. ;)

I always loved Leonardo in the first movie; I can still remember being in the theater watching the scene where he is reunited with Raphael in the farm house; it's so sweet and moving. I don't think the Henson workshop and the body and voice actors get enough credit for bringing those characters to life. Franky, I haven't seen CGI do better. ;)

The Leonardo in the CGI film...yeah...the plot was just too all over the place to work, lol. I'm with Nostalgia Critic on this one: "Leo's logic is crazy!" Lol

Saying "I'm better than you"?

I wrote this in the Leo thread and feel like it could be repeated here:

Also as for the "I'm better then you" line and Leo being better than Raphael. Leonardo didn't, in my opinion say that because he even believes he is better then his brother. Leonardo was struggling to figure out if he really was a good leader for the Turtles. When Raphael told him that they didn't need him and that they had gotten along great with him gone it cut through Leo like a knife. It was pretty much everything he feared happening thrown in his face. So he hit's Raphael back in the same place for him. By telling him he is better then he is, the one thing that I really think Raphael fears.

Neither is better then the other and I will go so far as to say that the two function terribly without the support of the other. Leo and Raph have a very ying and yang effect to each other. Leonardo tends to keep Raphael from acting too rash and getting himself or anyone else killed. Raphael tends to help Leo from turning his self criticism to deeply inward and makes him face his issues head on versus just brooding about them.

I personally don't really think anyone was right or wrong in the film. That was what I liked about it the family dynamic was handled in a realistic fashion. The guys all do regretful stupid things and they do noble things and they fight and learn lessons and they live.

One more thing I will point out, Leo actually does point out to the Nightwatcher at the start of the fight that he has walked the same path as him and he is confronting him to save him from making the same mistakes he did, it's Leo's dialogue that is covered by Raphael talking to himself. Could Leo have handled the whole thing better, yes. But he does acknowledge what you are pointing out. :tgrin:

I get why a lot of people don't like Leo. He's difficult to understand and appreciate at times.

It's kind of like Don is personally my least favorite. Not that I dislike him, just out of the four he is the one I least relate to and thus I at times have trouble connecting with his character. I think Leo is that for a lot of people at times.

I keep reading this same thing around the boards over and over. People cannot relate to a turtle and thus he is their least favorite by default. Is that how you all really feel or are you just trying to justify having to state a least favorite turtle? Raph is my turtle but not because I relate to him. I like him because I do not relate to him. I suppose I am in the minority on this aspect.

I have no least favorite turtle. And damn proud of it

I think we need to cut Julie some slack. I can understand why she is sensitive about this. I’m sensitive, too, and have been trying to be very polite on the topic. But when I hear that people don’t like Leo because he’s a goody two shoes, I cringe. Besides, what is it that you want from a leader? Leo is responsible, but also is good at developing tactics. Also, he’s not a jerk. He’s trying to do his job. I agree what Neutrino said, and I will stick to my favorite guy and that is all that matters. However, just like Julie, I’m tired of this. I think a lot would agree with me on this. The franchise is dead if Leo's dead. Enough is enough.:tmad:

Just to add: FearlessLeader, you’ve described his personality from the 2k7 film brilliantly.:tgrin: I think it’s interesting that you think he said, “I’m better than you,” because he was hurt for what Raph said. Personally, I think he said that to prove that he was better at controlling himself, rather than just being the leader. But I like how this stands. Still, did Raph really mean it when he said that he and his brothers were fine without Leo? I don’t think so, since Donnie and Mike were so happy to see him again.

I looked at it this way. If I had four Turtles comics in front of me, each written about a different one of the Turtles, which would I be least excited to read?

Probably Don's, because his story lines were generally really science heavy which just isn't my personal thing. It doesn't mean I hate Don's character or I that I couldn't enjoy reading the comic. I am going solely by what I am least interested in.

Hopefully this makes more sense?

Still, did Raph really mean it when he said that he and his brothers were fine without Leo? I don’t think so, since Donnie and Mike were so happy to see him again.

I don't think even Raph meant it. Raphael was ticked off at Leo for going off on him about being the Nightwatcher and his fury came out in words that he knew would hurt his brother.

Michelangelo is my least favorite of the gang. I think it mostly has to do with his weapons not being as visually striking to me as the others are.

Orange is also my least favorite color, so there's that, too.

And I think writers tend to go overboard with the happy-go-lucky aspect of his character. I mean, he's hilarious in the old cartoon, but I feel that's sometimes to the detriment of the show. The humor worked so well that those involved creatively decided to take the show in a comedic direction. Turtles and humor work well together, but I don't the latter should take precedence over the action and story.

With all that said, I like Mikey in the comics, even though he's probably the least-developed, character-wise.

Usually he seems a bit boring I admit, but I don't think he is a boring character at all. It's just his role/job of being an extremely serious Leader all the time, but he has his moments and also we can see funny parts and lines made by him throughout the series, especially in the 2k3 cartoon. So, he's not that boring at all.

But not everyone is going to love his character or his personality type as much as we do, I try not to look at it so much as a diss at Leo, but more showing that flavor really is the spice of life and it's nice not everyone here thinks the same way.

I do believe a majority of the people here respect the type of individual Leonardo represents, even if he isn't their favorite and really that's all we can ask for.

Was never a fan of Leo. 2K3 I started to like him a little but he's just such a douche. Not a jerk kind of douche but the "teachers pet, over achiever, buzzkill" kind of douche.

He places blame on himself for things completely out of his control and he's always the one to say "Guys we shouldn't be doing this or that." If the turtles listened to Leo half the episodes would be them sitting in their lair playing video games and training.

He's also extremely arrogant. It doesn't always come out but he thinks he's better then his brothers at everything and it's only until he's slapped back to reality that he sees what a douche he's being. Sure he can fight but his leadership skills aren't what he thinks they are and Don ends up saving them 90% of the time with his know how.

Funny this poll is exactly how I thought it would be. Leo and Raph are always the most hated, but oddly Raph is usually one of the most liked. I think it's because Leo fans hate Raph and Raph fans hate Leo. Mike loses points for being annoying in the 2K3 series and Don usually slips by unnoticed because there's really no reason not to like him aside from his horrid chain smoker voice in the first movie.

Yea, he's so "attached" to Splinter and is his best student, but he's no douche (douche means stupid, right?). Plus, what's so bad in Leo blaming himself for mistakes? At least he always admits his mistakes and in the 2k3 cartoon I've watched all series ad Leo didn't say anything like he's better than anyone else (although, in the 2k7 movie he was very smug, I didn't like that). Sucks that he trusts bad people too much.

True, true. That's exactly the point. I think it's good of him to blame himself for doing something wrong, and he always corrects his mistakes, most of the fans, who blame Leo, should see most episodes devoted on Leo, where he learns his lessons, they're useful.

But you see, that's just it...it wasn't anything he did wrong. His mistake wasn't that he failed to save his family, it was his outright arrogance that he thought he he could save his family, that he refused to learn that sometimes losing/making mistakes is the best teacher.

As a Raph fan, I have little problem with Leo. It's typically rabid Leo fans who make him out to be just as infallible as he thought he was, before he learned his lesson that garner my ire.

As a Raph fan, I have little problem with Leo. It's typically rabid Leo fans who make him out to be just as infallible as he thought he was, before he learned his lesson that garner my ire.

I think Leo was right for blaming himself in the "Exodus" episode, because it's always his responsibility to watch out for his family and protect his loved ones, he just feels that the whole world problems are on his shoulders; I think Leo could've beaten the hell outta Shredder and Karai, but he was too NAIVE (that's his MAIN flaw, not just his little arrogance, perfectionism or something else like that), because he trusted bad guys like Karai, the UN and others. If he didn't, he wouldn't have failed his mission of kicking their asses in that spaceship. That's my point of view.
So, I spot this flaw (naivity) in him, nothing else. But in later episodes, like I said, Leo did protect his family and almost killed Karai.

The Turtles were out classed. There was nothing they could have done to defeat Shredder, short of blowing themselves up in the process. I don't think Leonardo was holding back, or that his naivete kept him from doing what needed to be done, all other options were exercised and that was all that was left. Leo felt there was no such thing as a no-win scenario...which is very arrogant, when the person you're fighting holds all the cards and is willing to do anything to succeed, including kill you.

Still, everytime he does something wrong, he always critisizes himself. No matter what happens, Leo loves and will always love his brothers and father more than himself, you can find and read his biography. lol

Still if you love Leo you need to be able to love him for his flaws as much as his strong points.

Leonardo can at times be arrogant and naive, which can lead to him forming opinions about things and drawing sometimes rash conclusions that usually end up coming back and smacking him in the face.

To me the most obvious flaw of Leo's during all of 2k3 was the fact he was so willing to trust pretty much anyone until something terrible happened. This was repeated time and time again with different characters each time.

I love Leo for his noble heart and desire to see the good in everyone, but I also felt at some point he needed to see that not everyone had the best intentions in mind like he did.

One thing I will say about his whole post-Exodus fury or depression, I was also annoyed with how Splinter handled it. He almost seemed to think if he kept his distant from the matter for quite a few episodes that Leonardo would somehow heal himself.

It was at this moment I do think Raphael actually had Leo's best intentions in mind, he kept trying to push Leo to get him to allow out everything that was bottled up inside of him, but everyone kept forcing Raphael to stop.

And I am going off track now, but I found once I was able to clearly see Leo's flaws and except that much like everyone he isn't perfect that I actually grew to appreciate his character even more.

That's the real flaw I see in Leo as well, he trusts people too much, but he's wrong in that, I think sometimes he should be a bit of a hipocrite, but nah, he ain't.
I love Leonardo not because he's the Leader, i like him as a turtle, who is loveable and fun-loving, and has a big heart and respect for everyone, plus his voice is awesome, lol. Well, and his weapons are the most badass and he indeed is a badass. :D

I don't have a least favorite. Everyone is useful in their own way. To me, I believe the series will become boring if anyone were to die off or leave. Mike brings a comedic approach to the group. That keeps me glued to the storyline. It prevents the story from being to serious.

For instance, Leo has never been a particular favorite with me, but that doesn't mean I dislike him as a character.

Well, it's different for me. If I had a least favorite, there will always be either a comic or episode that will come on where the story is focused on that least favorite character. By continuing to watch or read into the story, I will either change the channel or put the comic down. It depends.:tread:

Leonardo cause I really cannot relate to him at all. I do admit he does his moments, but I rarely see 'em.

Why is it arrogance? Following the code of Bushido means to fight with honor, and possibly die with honor. He didn't fail. He just didn't do what his brothers expected him to do. That's why I had a problem with that plotline on the 2k3 show.

I'd say he was sacrificing their lives, but the other turtles didn't want to die. So much for them following Bushido.:toops:

You've done it again, FearlessLeader.:tgrin: You are straight on. In fact, I could see Jack Bauer trusting people like Nina Meyers, and look where that ended up. She was a traitor. Everyone makes mistakes. I wouldn't mind if I see a little bit of that on the new 2k12 series.:tsmile:

That's the real flaw I see in Leo as well, he trusts people too much, but he's wrong in that, I think sometimes he should be a bit of a hipocrite, but nah, he ain't.

I agree that he's sometimes fun-loving somewhat. He's just easy going, as I was told by Dan Berger from the past questions I gave him.

Thank you. Someone gets it. :tgrin: It's like I always say, "You kill someone off who's a major character, show's over." For one thing, you can't kill Clark Kent out of Smallville. He's supposed to become Superman. The way I see it, Leo is like Superman, because he has a big heart, fights for truth and justice, and learns from his mistakes from the people he trusted that betrayed him.

Just to add: Enough with the least favorite turtle. I missed it when we talked about our favorite or most badass!:tgrin:

My least favorite is Don. I don't dislike him. He's pretty cool! But, when reading solo Turtles stories, his are the ones I can least get into. Maybe I'm not enough of a "does machines" kind of soft-spoken guy to really relate as well as I do with someone like Mike or Raph.
